RUMOR: Pokémon Sun & Moon Include 103 New Pokémon

alola-dex-rumorRUMOR ALERT: The information contained in this post is based on speculation, not fact. Please treat it as such and do not interpret it is confirmed news.

A user on an anonymous image board has posted what purports to be the full Alolan Pokédex, excluding new “Alolan forms” of previously released Pokémon. If it is correct, there are 103 new Pokémon in the Alola region which would be 30 more new Pokémon than X & Y and roughly the same amount as Gold & Silver. There are, however, many evolution families listed which appear to have different forms for the same Pokémon.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Screw. The. Leakers. I will not be covering the names or any other information about this “leak” because there is too much risk considering the advanced information that has already made its way to the public from the Chinese rumors. We’re still too far away from the release of these games to ruin everything for fans. There’s a difference between enjoying speculation and rumors (which we do) and spoiling everything online (which they do). There is a line of what I think is fun pre-release hype and what is stupidly early to reveal, and I think this is one of those things that crosses that for me. Hope you guys understand and perhaps even agree. If we hadn’t gotten such credible leaks this year I’d have no qualms about posting it for dissection.

  1. Do you guys think that this is true? I don’t want this to be fake. The Guardrake line is something I’ve been waiting for soooo long. I really hope this list is true. Everything seems so good.

  2. Idk….These names….they’re cool and all, but I’m not sure if I believe them. It’s time consuming, but also very easy to come up with a list of names and post them on a board. Plus we have to consider the leaks we actually DO trust at this point. They said that there weren’t all that many more then the new Kalos Pokemon. In my mind that means no more than 90 new mons. I’ve just become very skeptical of these kinds of rumors I guess….lol Plus is there any real reason to believe this guy yet or is just some random on the internet? lol

  3. Archoot is what I suggested for the name of Rowlet3! 😛

I guess that’s pretty easy to guess though, assuming these are legit.

  4. A detail: we all expected Solgaleo and Lunala to be part Fire and Dark respectively (to represent Day and Night).

It’s curious to see those 2 types in what it’s supposed to be the 3rd from the legendary trio: Malshadow (Dark/Fire), with apparently a type-shifting ability…

    I still have hope 🙂

  5. Huh. Interesting, to say the least. However, as gullible as I am, I don’t buy this for a second. The three main reasons are:
    1. I don’t see any fossil Pokemon (I know that we don’t always get them but still).
    2. There is no way that Wimpod is a second evolution. And Salandit for that matter.
    3. Four types for the starters seems very unlikely. After all, this would require different designs, and we’ve seen in the dex, the starters only have two spots after them.

If this list is true, I have no real problem with it (but rip fossils). But what is our evidence for thinking that this is post worthy, and not just a troll thinking he’ll make something up for fun?

    • While I agree with a lot of what you said I do have to point out something. Now it doesn’t necessarily mean anything since it’s from another rumor, but there was another rumor that said there were split evos for the starters and that they would share the same spot in the dex like forms typically do. I’m not saying that either is real or are even connected in anyway, but if there really are four evos for the starters then they could very well just take the same spot. And then you’d just pic which art to represent the Pokemon like we already do with forms. with that said I do agree that it seems unlikely they’d make 4 different forms for them. Two maybe, but not four lol

      • Technically Wormadam does this already so it’s not completely insane. Wormadam can be Steel, Grass or Rock depending on what form Burmy took before evolving. Count them, that’s 3 forms.

        Reply
    • Having 4 forms doesn’t mean they will be so much different. They’re not split evos. Maybe they’d change the secondary colors a bit or something like that. Having 4 completely different evos is dumb and if it’s true, why would they share the same exact name?

      Reply
    • I definitely see Wimpod and Salandit with two evos, but that’s just me.
I can argue Salandit is one and two as well, but WImpod, nah, two evos 🙂

      • I agree. And to be honest, baby salamanders are something like tadpoles, aren’t they? I’m not that good at biology but I seem to remember something about this. I might be wrong though.

        Reply
        • I dunno too well, but maybe.
I just read the list, and I see now he means they are the middle evo for both, and I can somewhat agree with that, I feel they are basic evos, but who knows right?

          Reply
      • I think it’ll be two evos, but definitely not a middle stage Pokemon. It’s supposed to be wimpy, so that shouldn’t be a middle stage.

    • Well! Im from an island and we had never had fossil animal, our land just came out from the water. We didnt have dinosaurs.

    • “There is no way that Wimpod is a second evolution.”

If you’d shown me Floette back before X&Y were released and told me it was a second form I’d have said the same thing. Same for Vanillish, and possibly Nuzleaf & Herdier.

Also had I seen Lairon and Aggron without seeing Aron I would have thought they were another Rhyhorn-Rhydon, and I would never have guessed Rhydon or Piloswine would ever evolve. It’s a strange pokemon world.

“But what is our evidence for thinking that this is post worthy, and not just a troll thinking he’ll make something up for fun?”

Because it encorporates pretty much every rumoured leak so far, (including the reddit “I’ve been fired” guy and the chinese stuff,) which even if it were false would be damn impressive.

There are various things that also make it seem unlikely, including misspelt already confirmed pokemon.

All the secondary parts of the Tapus have meanings. Koko means blood, Pipi means Cow, Poloko means Frog, Mano means Shark. One place says that Tapu Koko’s Koko refers to Koko Head which seems legit, so if the Tapus will all be named after different locations I don’t know how valid these would be looking.

Ultimately a lot of the names just seems plausible because of their joke/pun nature, which is something gamefreak likes doing.

      Reply
  6. Well, I have no idea what these would look like in execution so… I’m not to worried about names I don’t like 😛
I’ll wait for corocoro to confirm or disconfirm this before I look at it to closely.

  7. Brain FAAAAAAART
    I SEE SOMETHING
    A Psychic/Dark Black Hole Pokemon
    Novoid (WIP)
I see a massive celestial Djinn with a starry vortex that grows darker and darker at the pitch black core at the tip of the tail
It’s face has Milky Way Galaxy looking jewel in its forehead

Legend states this great Pokemon bends reality at its will, living in the deepest recesses of space they create black holes to bring in light particles to gain strength

  8. I feel like they might have
1- all fake and made up pokemon
2- taken some real ones they know about somehow and mashed in some fakes.
in short, I honestly think these are the derpiest names ever. it might just be because there are no pics with the names tho. Finally, 4 starter forms? really? it’s pokemon SUN MOON.
one evolution for day and one for night is way more possible. this would be the first time starters have more than one form and 4 is just pushing it.

    • Might be one per island but yeah, it seems weird at first. I’d like it to be true but until we get confirmation, I don’t know what to think about this.

  9. I’m just here with Team Neutral 🙂 It’s fun to speculate some of these however, some of them are interesting and have fun ideas :3
I just won’t say they are fake or real until official info comes out to prove these right or wrong.
And good job PJ, I know a few people who probably didn’t want Pokemon spoiled, especially this early, so I commend you 🙂 And you are right, having the dex, if it is real, leak this early is just in bad taste. I can understand a few days, even a week, before the games come out, but this is too much.

    Reply
      • I just want to get over with this speculation thing, at least for this list. Having the Guardrake line is like the best thing that happened to me since Gen 4 introduced evos for Pokémon I liked like Yanmega and Electivire. Wanted a Dragon/Fighting pokémon for more than 6 years. I’m really-really hoping that it’s true.

      • Yeah, I’m in a similar boat, but I don’t have strong feelings towards either the ‘It’s real’ side or the ‘it’s fake’ side. I’m just here, really.

I’ve always been a neutral person though. I can see both sides, and sometimes when you stay on one side, you blind yourself to the other side.

          • Nah, it’s not your fault. You do you Earthen. Even I can be on one side for certain situations. I just like seeing the other sides on various things. I’m naturally open-minded.

    • I’m one of them! So I’m thankful! I like discovering Pokemon as they are revealed because it’s a lot like discovering them in the tall grass. They’re new and spread out enough that it feels okay. But I want some surprises!

  10. The only thing that really makes me sceptical about the list is that the starters and some others have four forms..that seems like a bit too many

    • No one batted an eye when they introduced the concept with Oricorio. True, the starters are a bit far-fetched, but it’s not entirely impossible.

      Reply
      • Oricorio has a cool concept, they better not over use it, but that’s another discussion. But, they are starters, Pokemon with arguably the most consistent and specific pattern in the dex every gen. I don’t think they’d do that with starters.

        Reply
        • Exactly. Plus, oricorio is based on the Galapagos finches. Gamefreak is trying to go back to simpler times and aiming it still at kids. All these different forms just seems complicated.

          Reply
          • It’s not like kids understand evs/ivs/natures but they are still there. For them it would just be a new cool form

      • I think it’s because the starters are considered Sacred. Always Grass-Fire-Water, always Overgrow-Blaze-Torrent, always 3 forms, almost always evolving at level 16 and 36.

I would be completely fine with other pokemon having different forms depending on the island they’re from, it’s no different from flabebe’s different flower colours or the west sea-east sea Shellos/Gastrodon. I’ll admit it shouldn’t be done with every pokemon, but a handful of 10-20 would be fair game. Especially plants, birds and mammals known to adapt to different climates.

        Reply
    • Here’s the thing about Rockruff and the starters having something “special’ going on with them. This isn’t impossible imo. What other things could they have in common if it’s not something like this? It’s not Z-Moves, we already know that, so what?

My bs meter is starting to rise
It’s just pecks wood for grubs and for homes why and how would it become a plant itself, they don’t eat the tree just make holes
It should become a Spear Faced weapon bird
    Halbird Steel/Flying

  12. The two main things that make me think this list is fake:

Fungkie > Hallucid suggests a pokemon family based on magic mushrooms, with the evolution’s name being based on the word “hallucinate”. I don’t think this would fly in the pokemon series somehow.

The list seems to suggest Wimpod has a pre-evolution, “Shrimpod”. Wimpod definitely looks like a base pokemon, it’s so small and weak I’d be amazed if it was a stage 1 pokemon.

    • That’s just like my Psychedelic newt
      Newtrip and Psycko
      Poison/Psychic

When threatened it sprays a purple mist from its nostrils that causes dizziness and confusion, the brighter the Pokemon’s skin the longer the effects last

      Reply
    • First, they did make a pokemon based on zumbie bug who is control by a mushroom and another who is a killer doll pokemon, and second, I can see wimpod being a second stage pokemon with another evolution

      Reply
      • Yes but zombie bugs and scary dolls are not taboo / against the law in most cultures. A Pokemon based on psychedelic mushrooms would be a direct, positive reference to illegal drugs. I’m pretty sure the PEGI rating would go up to 16+ / 18+ and the same would happen in other countries.

  13. On what are softle and panquake supposed to be? I don’t see them making a pancake Pokemon, but they wouldn’t make that pun with anything else, so that’s another red flag to me.

  14. Is a Snowman Pokemon included? That was from the Chinese Leak. If it’s not in here than I don’t believe this. And I’m not even going to bother looking at the whole list. I don’t want to spoil myself. This is madness. A leaker has hacked into Nintendo very swiftly if this is all true!

    Reply
        • Not necessarily. They probably could have been added there to seem more legit since it’s a Pokemon from a known true leak.
Not saying there’s no chance this could be real, but there is a solid chance it’s fake.

          Reply
          • Ah yes. You’re right. I jump to conclusions too often! It reminds me of another leak that was formatted the same way actually that was fake too. It was with a black background like this and listed several fakemons. Text leaks usually raise red flags to me. Especially since this came out right after a big announcement as well as before another big announcement.

          • It’s fine, no worries 🙂 It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s fake, just that it’s not guaranteed as real either. We’ll just have to wait until official word disproves or proves it really

          • If one of the evolved Pokemon, such as Minior is proven, then the entire list is real basically. But a lot of people have guessed that name and could easily just get lucky if an evolution happens to be named that. But I feel like Minior will be a standalone Pokemon and won’t evolve.

    • Yeah, especially this early too. It’s just in bad taste, especially toward people like yourself.
Like i said, I can understand leaking this a few days before, but now? Yeah, pretty much a dick move.

      Reply
      • Part of the fun of hype season is seeing the new concepts for pokemon being released so having them out there on the internet just sucks. I suppose it isn’t as bad as leaking the entirety of X and Y a week before release but still.

        Reply
        • Yeah, can totally understand. X and Y was like that due to certain people getting it early. I hoped we wouldn’t get a repeat, but clearly not, if this is real.

          Reply
      • Bad taste or not how do we feel about the leak of the starter evos? That was even earlier than this. Basically less than a month after we got the starters themselves hahaha

        Reply
    • Well every new Pokemon anyway….naturally there would be more if you count the old Pokemon….either way I’m not sure I buy it lol

      Reply
    • Hmmm…. I wouldn’t put too much credence in this leak, as a lot of people have pointed out there do seem to be a good amount of red flags. I think this could be real but from names and typings it’s kind of hard to tell what these Pokemon would be. I don’t find it to be TOO much of a spoiler, at least compared to the art leaks.

      Reply
      • I don’t find spoilers of any kind to be bad, but that’s just for me and my experience. I’m an oddball like that xD
I still think this is too much since some people really wanted the surprise of finding a Pokemon they never heard about before, and while they won’t know what it looks like, they still know about them.

        Reply
        • Yeah, same. I eat up any spoilers I can find! I have only gone in blind for one game and while I would love to replicate that I love knowing all the spoilers beforehand too much to restrain myself lol

          Reply
          • Yeah, the only game I went completely blind in was Diamond, but that was because I wasn’t on the Internet as much as I am now.
Regardless, I’m like that with every medium, because my experience will still be there despite knowing about it. I don’t know every detail of what happened, so there is still a surprise factor for me.

          • (I just got into SU so yeah xD And I know a good amount about the show but it doesn’t ruin it for me xD oh and I’m still on the first season, I haven’t been able to watch it the past few days. Once I get back home I will)

    • I wouldn’t go that far. Personally I’d rather have a whole list of names/types leaked than someone leak an image of a pokemon. At least I can still dream up what they might look like, but once an image is leaked, that’s it, the pokemon is set in stone. (*cries over potential 3rd form of litten*)

  15. You guys, I was thinking about why they would allow a Z-Stone to power up a move of a different typing of the Pokemon itself. Maybe that triggers the type change in certain Pokemon.
    ___
Seeing that Ash Greninja is in game, a sychro ev pokemon, what if certain Pokemon Ie. Starters and Rockruff Synchro evolve after using a Z-Move. This would explain the rumor each starter has 2 evos.
This would also explain the obsession with Megan Water Shuriken in the anime.. . Its his Z-Move.. he always leads with. The rumors Did Not say specifically no Synchro evs or hint at it to whoever told me that. I read it all.
Oh an TyranitarTube helped me piece this together when he called Ash Greninjas Z moves the water shuriken boost.
    ___
Also, Z-Moves are done the same way Ash and Greninja synch together.. “When the Trainer and Pokémon’s wishes resonate with each other, and both release their full power together”. Sounds like sycnhro to me.

  16. The only way to check for credibility is to wait for August 12th to see if there is any Pokemon that is revealed on the list. Right now, I’m taking it with a grain of salt. It’s a neat list tho! I want to see the alternate types. I wonder if the starters look will change!
