With the latest Pokémon Sun & Moon information, we can now say that the rumors seem to be true. Not only the Poké Riding, but at least with the leaked Starter Evolutions we can clearly see one of the Trial Captains in the art, and the final evolution of Litten is probably holding two of its middle evolutions.

4chan Rumor

For now these are going to be de-confirmed since a number of Pokémon listed appear not to be getting an Alolan form

  • The anime’s Ash-Greninja will appear in the game
  • Alolan Rattata & Raticate are Dark-type
  • Alolan Butterfree is Bug/Psychic
  • Alolan Abra, Kadabra & Alakazam are Fighting-type
  • Alolan Nidoking & Nidoqueen are Poison/Fighting-type
  • Alolan Growlithe & Arcanine are Water-type
  • Alolan Doduo & Dodrio are Fighting/Flying-type
  • The previous versions of Pokémon which have taken on new forms will only be accessible by bringing in from older games
  • Furfrou gets new styles
  • New cat Pokémon varies in type and appearance based on breeding
  • There is a new snowman Pokémon line with two stages and it is Ice/Ghost
  • Not to get hopes up, but there may be two final evolutions for each starter

Chinese Rumor

  • There will be no traditional Gyms and no Pokémon League in Alola. Your goal is to actually create one. After you do, an Elite 4 will appear which are the leaders of each island
  • The final starter evolutions will be an Archer, a Wrestler and a Siren
  • The diamond stones will be collectible throughout the region and act similarly to Mega Stones but not exactly
  • New Pokémon based on a dolphin, sea cucumber, snowman, mushroom and a rugby monkey are there
  • Rockruff’s evolution is a Werewolf
  • Mashadow, another copyrighted Pokémon name, has a very unique type combo

  9. This might be a bit somber, but I think Sun/Moon will be the the last Pokemon Games on the 3DS. Nintendo is slowly killing the handheld, with the hybrid NX replacing it and the Wii U. The 3DS has a dry 2017 in terms of games with the only titles being a localisation of Yo-Kai Watch 3, Lady Layton and some Level 5 games, and Dragon Quest 11. I think Sun/Moon is ending the 3DS with a bang. I’m predicting an Diamond/Pearl Remake for the system or a port of Sun/Moon with improved graphics and textures. With a potential Tegra X2 processor, just image how good Pokemon games will look. Also, I don’t think that Sun/Moon will be the last games of the series as others have stated. Masuda literally talked about giving director positions to more staff members, how would they do that with no games? I’m sure an NX title is in the works, I cannot wait for 2017-18. Bring on some HD Pokemon!

    • I think we’ll get another game or set of games for 3DS. Too much potential to waste. Especially on the New 3DS. I suspect we’ll get DPPt remakes first thing on a new system. And Byron will look gorgeous

      • Maybe. It is the future, but think about it; the 3DS has been here for six years and it got its mid-life upgrade. I think Nintendo will want a game to push NX sales! A new Pokemon game will do it.

        • I really don’t think there will be a handheld for the NX. I think it will be a separate system that’s compatible with it.

    • To be fair, my 3DS is getting quite worn, and it’s one of the newer models and I don’t even take it out that much (I don’t even go out that much…).
      I think it’s definately time they started working towards the newer system.

      If they’d had it ready sooner, they could have moved pokemon S&M straight onto it.

    • That is, if the NX is a hybrid or similar to a handheld… If not, I don’t see Pokemon switching to consoles. Ever.

      But I agree with you on that this is the last generation of Pokemon games on the 3DS

    • They can’t survive without handhelds. That is what is making them money. They said themselves that it was hard to compete against Mobile Gaming. And almost every single big console has failed of theirs. They aren’t going to ditch it for something that will fail.

  12. These leaks are fake or both forms can be found in the wild. It has already been shown that Arcanine can be found with its normal color and art. So either these leaks are fake, or both kinds can be found in the wild.

          • Game freak do have the ability to trade pokemon from old games into the new games for the sake of their trailers. So no, I didn’t call it fake. What I’m saying is if you take the leaks at face value, it can be justfied that they purposely showed people Arcanines traded from old games and avoided using the Alolan Archanines. The leak says the normal forms of the pokemon do not exist in Alola *but* you can get them by trading them over from old games. The pokemon do not transform into Alola form the moment they arrive at the Alola region. They could have put a regular Ninetales next to an Alola Ninetales and it would stilll be legit.

    • or they could have just made it so they were battling arcanine, they can do that after all. why? to avoid spoilers and keep it a surprise.

        • so we will be stuck with starters that cant evolve? this right here is them avoiding spoilers. they have the ability to make the game display whatever they want for trailers, that’s why they always say “game footage is not final” on the bottom of the screen.

  13. Two evolutions? Male and female? The Litten final evolution looks pretty masculine and the Poplio evolution looks pretty feminine …

    • they’d have to tweak the gender ratios if they wanted to do this. which I wouldn’t mind, but I see it as unlikely.

      • I don’t think they need to. One of them will just have to have an alternate evo path (e.g. trading, stones). Gender (or looks) probably won’t have an impact unless they decided on the Espurr-like gender changes.

  16. So we have four captains for four islands, which are Water,Grass,Electric and Fire, they all have a four sided charm where each of them has a side filled with corresponding colour. I believe that’s why there are four trial captains in total, no more. Also the typings match with the colourings of the islands; Green, Blue, Red and Yellow. I’ve heard this colourings from elsewhere, IDK if it’s a rumour or fact. If it’s fact, I think guardian deities may have that typings as well.

    Two of the totem Pokemon are Gumshoos and Lurantis.

    Grand trial is led by kahuna, which are like Elite four I guess, IDK. One of them is Hala and we don’t really know if he specializes in any type but we see him using Tapu Koko which was Electric and wears yellow coat.

    We also have four Oricorio types: Fire,Electric, Ghost, Psychic representing each island.

    So, I don’t know what will it lead to. I believe kahunas will not be related to any typing, they will just have some connections with the guardian deities design wise. I guess Oricoro will be representing the cultural/spiritual side of the islands, and give no more connection about guardian deity typings. And same goes for totem pokemon as one of them is Gumshoos.

  17. Also, we may see Vikivolt as totem. Imagine it spawning Charjabug so that the whole concept of Vikivolt using Charjabug as battery comes alive and also the ability.

    It should also be noted that Kiawe has Marowak. I wonder if we will see regional form of Marowak.

      I guess this is reason why we saw in one of earlier announcements that Hala is using Tapu Koko

  19. I’m surprised by the lack of people talking about this cat that you can cater to your liking. . . I can have a Normal/Ghost type cat just because I want to? I can literally customize a Pokemon, to be what I want it to be. . . That’s a big deal.

    • As a competitor, I might wanna talk about it more after I know its egg group(s).

      After all, you can’t make it a Normal/Ghost (for example) when there are no Ghosts in the Field egg group.

      Other people might get more interested in it once they have a visual.

    • Nobody was really talking about any of the things listed above mostly because those still aren’t confirmed. People were mostly talking about stuff from the video released.

    • I’m surprised it’s this that makes you all claim confirmation and not the fact that the new trailer pretty much revealed that the whole “no traditional Pokemon League” thing was legit.

      • Eh, I saw no gyms coming, ever since the map was revealed. And I was mainly referring to the concept-art rather than the Chinese-text leak. It’s not like the pictures came with the leak.
        It’s just amazing since the concept art appeared during late June, people laughed at it, but here it is now, back in full circle.

  21. Alolan Alakazam line is Fighting? Yeah I call bullshit on that. Why would their typing change to something that’s completely opposite of their name? Same deal with Alolan Arcanine being Water Type. I DO dig Dodrio being Fighting/Flying now.

    I hope more than just Gen 1 Pokemon are getting the Alola treatment. I do wanna see Alola themed Torkoal, Lilligant and Hawlucha.

    • That’s why I’m not believing anything anyone says anymore
      Those three made sense but you gotta remember exactly what is going on, Environmental Adaptation
      Where the powerful erratic ecosystem causes non-native species to physically alter their genetic structure over a course of hundreds or even thousands of years to better suit the environment
      And who knows they technically could be genetic mutations
      Vulpix and Ninetales’s flame sacs overusing its internal flame to stay alive in the frigid tundra and then finally just permanently freezing over causing its whole body to freeze (a whole period of sickness in the generations and some dying out) until finally the genetic structure changed to accommodate the sickness and make it work for it thus creating a new generation of Vulpix that inched forward with these new traits and soon became the dominant norm for this species

      My only wrench in the logic is secondary types I don’t like the idea that Alolan Ninetales is part fairy unless it ate spiritual moonwater from those mountains
      And the Steel in Snowshrew unless in a similar explanation but involving fragments of iron ore in the burrows they lived in clung to their skin and just froze over

  23. I wonder if Alolan Formes might affect stats. A fighting type Alakazam would be useless since it’s a special attacker, + there arent a lot special fighting movies either.

    • They’re probably have the same totals but spread differently. Like sandshrew/slash said it’s slower but has better attack and defence

    • Im guessing they do this is part of Alolan Sandshrew’s description on the Sun Moon Website: “It excels defensively, but it lacks flexibility and can’t curl its body into a ball like a Ground-type Sandshrew can.”

      The thing is, normal sandshrew excels defensively as well, but the website also says this: “Its heavy weight makes the Alolan Sandshrew slower than a normal Sandshrew.”

      ^Clearly meaning the speed stat is less than normal Sandshrew.

  25. I don’t get why Sandshrew and Sandslash are steel types, the ice on its back is hard but it’s not steel. And why is Ninetales a fairy? Why would a fire type suddenly decide to live on a snowy mountain? Why is Exeggutor a dragon?
    I can understand it with like elemental types like fire, water and grass, but how would Alakazam become a fighting type? Then it’s not an Alakazam anymore.

    I’m sorry for sounding so negative but like I have said before it seems so random to me. Like why couldn’t the Vulpix for example gone to live in a cave near the ocean and become a rock/water type instead? I also said this before but will the same Pokemon get new forms for future regions? Will it be Alola exclusive? I’m sorry I don’t want to come of as stupid or ignorant or something but this is bugging me. I know Pokemon isn’t the the place for logical explanations but I need answers
