The Chinese Rumor & Leaked Starter Evolutions Confirmed True + MORE

With the latest Pokémon Sun & Moon information, we can now say that the rumors seem to be true. Not only the Poké Riding, but at least with the leaked Starter Evolutions we can clearly see one of the Trial Captains in the art, and the final evolution of Litten is probably holding two of its middle evolutions.

4chan Rumor

For now these are going to be de-confirmed since a number of Pokémon listed appear not to be getting an Alolan form

  • The anime’s Ash-Greninja will appear in the game
  • Alolan Rattata & Raticate are Dark-type
  • Alolan Butterfree is Bug/Psychic
  • Alolan Abra, Kadabra & Alakazam are Fighting-type
  • Alolan Nidoking & Nidoqueen are Poison/Fighting-type
  • Alolan Growlithe & Arcanine are Water-type
  • Alolan Doduo & Dodrio are Fighting/Flying-type
  • The previous versions of Pokémon which have taken on new forms will only be accessible by bringing in from older games
  • Furfrou gets new styles
  • New cat Pokémon varies in type and appearance based on breeding
  • There is a new snowman Pokémon line with two stages and it is Ice/Ghost
  • Not to get hopes up, but there may be two final evolutions for each starter

Chinese Rumor

  • There will be no traditional Gyms and no Pokémon League in Alola. Your goal is to actually create one. After you do, an Elite 4 will appear which are the leaders of each island
  • The final starter evolutions will be an Archer, a Wrestler and a Siren
  • The diamond stones will be collectible throughout the region and act similarly to Mega Stones but not exactly
  • New Pokémon based on a dolphin, sea cucumber, snowman, mushroom and a rugby monkey are there
  • Rockruff’s evolution is a Werewolf
  • Mashadow, another copyrighted Pokémon name, has a very unique type combo

  1. I just had a thought but what if the leaker means: “There’s no Gyms or League in Alola, you have to create your own. Then, an Elite Four will appear on each Island”, he means that four Trial Captains will eventually become an Elite Four for each island and that the Champion is on that manmade Island and that “Victory Road” before his/her area, is the final trial. I know this sounds really wild but most people think of the Elite Four as four people, not just one person. Food for thought.

  2. It’s how my last speculation was for those special hawaiian dance moves was that each type would have its own move, and that it wasnt only for grass, water, fore and electric. Because if it was something just for the new starters then why would electric get one too? Because Pikachu is the mascot of pokemon? Not a good enough reason! So yess a z-move for every type!! It reminds me of like a special finishing move from kingdom hearts or final fantasy (^-^)/

  3. I hope this supposed bug/psychic butterfree turns out to be the pink one from the first season of the anime, because holy heck do I want that in the games

  4. Mehh most of these Variants could’ve easily been brand new pokemon. And like someone mentioned before there is a huge influx of *cutesy* pokemon. This Gen started strong but its been losing steam.

    • so far all your comments have been saying that you don’t like much of it, there must surely be something about the new game info that you like?

      • I like a lot of the new pokemon, cute pokemon aren’t my thing but i dont hate em. My major issue is the variants. The kahunas and challenges is aight as long as by the end of the challenge you get a battle. And i dislike popplios and littens final evos. But other than that still want to play the game

        • fair enough, everyone likes different things, I think the reason we are getting so many “cutesy” pokemon right now is because they are focusing on early mons for the most part, the bigger ones are usually late game

    • Well I’m glad they aren’t being called new Pokemon because we don’t need a bunch of clones, we already have a bunch of repeated design ideas 😛

  5. Wrong article again: I was rewatching the video!

Gumshoos for me doesnt feel like a DT inspiration even more now since I realized the name inspiration and the hands behind his back are it “waiting” and watching.

The birds are some of my new favorite pokemon ever. Love them.

And I REALLY hope that more than just kanto get new forms.

      • I don’t, because Mega Evolution is still new. That would change everything in terms of taking something that some species received. For example, Pinsir would lose the use it has now. They changed too much, they gave new life to some Pokémon and they would not take a mechanic so important from the games. Also, Mega Evolution was not fully explained, there are things from Mega Evoluiton and Gen. 6 yet to be explained.
I think that they will return in the postgame, giving time for people to enjoy the new mechanics.
Also, what do the Starters and Rockruff have of special?

    • I don’t know if it will be completely removed. But no new mega evolutions, and it will probably be post-game material. I still don’t see something so big in gen 6 completely disappearing.

Now, what they could do keep some balance is nerf some really strong ones.

      • I hope they make new Mega Evolutions, but I agree with you! They would not take it from the games, it is so fresh!

  6. I really can’t decide if I like the idea of alolan forms for old pokemon. I mean are we going to get new forms for every new region? Only Alola? Why Alola? It seems so random, they just take an old Pokemon and give it a random type and change its stats. Don’t get me wrong they look amazing but it’s just confusing to me

    • Microclimates
It’s not randomly reassigning Pokemon willy nilly
Vulpix and Sandshrew learned to adapt in the frigid cold
And the extreme tropic sunshine did a number on Exeggutor’s growth process

      Reply
    • they actually feel more natural than Mega Evolutions, because they represent a real evolution/adaptation like in the real world, varying depending on the environment.

  7. I hope that two formes (Alolan and default) of the same Pokemon are allowed on official competitions. I cannot wait to use Ninetales + Alolan Ninetales <3

    • I will make a team with Exeggutor and Alola’s Exeggutor, Ninetales and Alola’s Ninetales, Sandslash and Alola’s Sandslash eheh

      Reply
    • I hope they you can’t otherwise why freaking bothering making new Pokemon when you could just slap on a different skin

      Reply
      • Yes, I’m talking about casual gameplay. Online, I think you won’t be able to, since it is the same Pokémon. I think you’ll need to choose one!

        Reply
        • they might make exceptions seeing as how so far the variations have had different typings, so it wouldn’t really affect the online competitive scene, they are different things in that right

    • Oh goodness, I’mjsut gonna add the new Pokemon in, I can’t recreate it xD
Minior is between 10-20 (closer to 20), Fomantis and Lurantis are near the top, definitely top 10 for sure, Gumshoos is also near the middle, Mudbray just barely out of the top 10, and Oricorio is around the same as Mudbray.

  10. I’m no longer upset if those starter finals are real because with all the new features in this game, the game’s dependency on how good the starter finals look is irrelevant now!

  11. Potentially the first pokemon game where I may ditch the starter… So far the only thing I don’t like about sun and moon is these arts for the final evolutions of the starters T_T

    • Understandable, back in 6th gen, I didn’t like Quilladin’s art at all, but once I saw it in gameplay, it became alright to me. Maybe the same will happen for you with these guys 🙂

    • I don’t know about you, but when I don’t like a Pokemon, the first thing I do is draw it. It helps me become well acquainted with its design and helps build appreciation for it. 9 times out of 10, I’ll either come to like it, or at the very least respect it enough to use it.

      • I also recommend, if people are like me, looking up the potential origins/design origins of the Pokemon and what they tried to do. When I see the effort and detail they put into a Pokemon that way, I find something to like about it. Like with Bruxish. I don’t care much for it, but I appreciate the level of detail they went into to capture Bruxism, which is a type of disorder where you involuntarily grind your teeth. You learn something new and you can potentially find something to like about a design you don’t care for/hate.

  12. Why do people think that Mega Evolution will be entirely gone? It was a gigantic sixth generation mechanic. You cannot use Z-Moves with Mega Pokemon and they could be desimated by the attacks. This would balance the field of play as you could destroy a Mega rather easily. Also, I’m sure that you have to pick from Mega Evolution or using a Z-Moves thus balancing them both competitively. I’m only concerned if we are getting more Megas.

    Reply
    • The thing is that if you give the option to use a mega or a zmove at the start of the battle then the mega seems more viable as it might be able to survive until the end of the battle giving me a really powerful pokemon for a whole battle while this z-move will just kill the first pokemon and then what? So yeah for me megas are the better investment, i think idk im confused about all this right now

      Reply
      • That is dependent on your strategy though. Not everyone starts off with their mega. I think they’ll both be usable since they’re both automatically limited: one move per battle, one mega.

        Reply
        • Yeah i guess you are right as i always leave my mega for last hehe i will just wait for the game to come out or for them to give more details on z moves so that i can make a judgement xD

          Reply
      • Personally I’d rather have the Z-move so I can squash the opponent’s mega and go straight to normal fighting arrangements.

Which incidentally would squash your ‘leave the mega till last’ strategy if played correctly.
