August CoroCoro Leaking {UPD1}

The latest edition of Japanese comic magazine CoroCoro has been leaked and we are currently translating it for any new information 🙂

  • Bear is called Kiteruguma. It is described as cute yet deadly. It is classified as the powerful-arms Pokémon. It’s hug is dangerously strong and people in the Alola region regularly put warning signs out. It is Normal/Fighting with abilities Fluffy/Klutz. It’s name is possibly a play on words for “to wear” and “it’s here!”
  • Deflated Pikachu-esque Pokémon is Mimikkyu. It is a Ghost/Fairy type with the ability Disguise and is said to lurk in the darkness. It is classified as the bakenokawa (a veil hiding a monster) Pokémon. The body is black and the Pikachu-looking part is actually cloth-like and covers it from the sun. The article warns people about looking under its veil. It’s name seems to come from ears, mimic and ~kkyu (cute/timid sounding),
UPD1: A clearer scan of a section with Mimikkyu’s information has surfaced: “The reason that Mimikkyu resembles Pikachu…!? It modelled itself after Pikachu goods that were all the rage 20 years ago?! It seems it wants to make friends with humans just like Pikachu“.<3 PJ

  1. Seeing as we have the new type combo of Ghost/Fairy, I was wondering about another new type combo we don’t have yet. One I haven’t heard people actually discuss about one.
What do you guys think about a Grass/Electric-type Pokémon and what do you imagine it would be based on?
Note, we do have Mow Rotom, but that’s a special case.

  2. There are three gyms in town, and each one is held by a different team, and is led by the eeveelution with the corrosponding color! I just thought that was a funny coincidence.

  3. I love Mimicyou, it’s so good. It embodies jealousy and I hated Pikapoop my entire life. Now I dream about crazed Mimicyou that are killing and skinning Pikachu out.

  4. The bear seems neat, but I love the ghost. It’s amazing. And it’s celebrates the 20th anniversary quite well. I need it.

  5. I’m starting to like the bear. Seems like the design is both cute but deadly, hence the type and description in CoroCoro. And the Dead Pikachu Clone is actually starting to grow on me as well. Seems like an interesting backstory.

This stupid bear better evolve into a even more dangerous hugging machine

    Snaflux
    Electric/Dark
A small compact black and yellow goblin creature with a fairly large head adorned with long thin horns that occasionally discharge a volt of electricity
Long elf ears and a wide toothy grin with a lolling silver forked tongue with and equally long devil tail

These mischievous Pokemon love to eat electricity, they often tear into machinery to expose live wires

  8. A cool english name for Mimikkyu could be Spookiloth (Spooky + Cloth) it just rolls right off the tongue, but idk

  9. I hope we don’t have to wait until the next news update at the beginning of August to learn the names of these Pokemon. Just like every other Alola Pokemon, they have grown on me extremely quickly and I want them to be officially recognized!

  10. Mimikkyu’s background could have been a unloved dead pikachu like the marowak ghost from the first gen, Just a thought.

Now for Europe to get it please cause I’ll end up getting both eventually anyway

    • Yeah….I gotta say I really want the steel case…..plus I was also thinking about getting both too……..I usually do. I just hope my Amazon Prime can still be active then so I can get it at launch. I’m still technically on my student account even though I just graduated so I guess I’ll have to see if the cost changes when it tries to re up. If I can squeeze at least one more year out of my student Prime account then I’ll be goo otherwise I’ll have to just get Moon from Best Buy and weigh my options at a later time…..lol

  14. ok i have a question for all you nay-sayers out there that give reasons as to why certain pokemon shouldn’t be fairies, but i have yet to hear why you think pokemon should? what to you makes a fairy type pokemon? (earthen i stg if you say something stupid… i want a legit answer)

    Reply
      • I have given my reasons here many times as to why certain pokemon should be fairy… and not once has it been because they are cute or pink… so…. (also fyi I’m not in the slightest saying that the bear should be fairy I’m just curious as to what you guys think makes a fairy a fairy)

        Reply
        • The Pokémon has to radiate magic to be a fairy imo, for starters. I’ve seen many people here saying a certain Pokemon should be fairy because of a certain trait in its design. Like, I’ve seen people saying Popplio should be Fairy, because it has a pink nose.

          Reply
          • while I do hope Popplio should become a fairy type, at its point in its design it doesn’t really show any signs of becoming one… perhaps once it reaches its second stage maybe, but I try not to say stupid things such as that, because well, what evidence is that

      • Because it’s pink and super cute… I’m kidding.
As long as that one Pokemon is based on a fairy tale/mythical creature it’s okay, I guess.

      • There’s a lot of different interpretations for fairies, and not just the pink and cute ones, like nature fairies and the dark, mischievous ones.
I kind of want more of the latter ones, so people will stop associating Fairy type with cute/pink/good fairies.

        Reply
    • Well to me they need a Sprite like origin or nymph
I try not to let too many mythical creatures dominate this
      Magic qualities
Although I try not to let this dictate most decisions but some kind of “fairy” aura, but not like pink or cute or something similar

    • Good question I think they represent loving nature ,dreams and wishes fantasy and imagination …fairy tale characters though.
I am ready to give u an example if u want?

    • Personally I think whatever Gamefreak decide to make a Fairy Type should be a Fairy Type and whatever they don’t decide to make a Fairy Type shouldn’t be a Fairy Type.

    • @Galemcaedus:disqus

To me, what makes a fairy pokemon, is a pokemon with several different traits and have a sense of whimsy, elegance, or even a trickster or mischievous nature, and I by no means see fairies as cute and cuddly in temperament, they often look one way on the outside but they are far from good irl.

But I think you get my point, or should I go on?

      Reply
    • fairy pokemon should be based on lore. all those mythological stories. think the grimmes brothers. but if they lack that. i would be like oh pink/cute? fairy

      Reply
    • Not a naysayer (although I think they’re a bit OP and should’ve been weak to bug) but let’s look at the facts:
-Clefairy: Fairy because it literally has “fairy” in the name. Other possible reasons: cute, pink, has little wings, possible moon connection.
      -Jigglypuff: Pink and cute
      -Mr. Mime: Pink
      -Azumarill: Cute rabbit
      -Snubbull: Pink
-Whimsicott: Based on legend of little creatures that live in forests, also whimsical in the name
      -Aromatisse: Pink
-Swirlix: Fairy floss, so the type fits the name like Clefairy
      -Cutiefly: Tiny and cute

So in point: Some are fairy type because they’re based on fairy legend or because of name influences. Some are fairy because they’re pink or cute. Those are the facts, so read them and weep fairy deniers.

    • I like Fairy’s but I’m not obsessed yet I see this region being majority of Fairy, Electric, and Steel types

      Reply
      • we’ve only seen a few pokemon so far still I’m pretty sure, based on it being hawaii I would say the majority of pokemon are going to be water, grass and yes maybe fairy because its new… but why electric or steel? 😛

        • They seem to be reoccurring types for this region Grubbin line, Togedemaro just seems they will be very common types here

  15. I made an evolution for Mimikkyu. Here’s a Pokedex Entry. Here’s a Pokedex entry I made: In Mimikkyu’s desperate pursuit for love from anyone it could find, it tried to find a way to look even more like the beloved Pokémon it was trying to look like. In a reaction to a dusk stone and lack of friendship, it tried to morph into a Taichung while evolving, only to become a horrible monster with only a small cloth to hide it’s face. (Ok, I’ll admit, it’s more like a bio)
