PJT ‘14 — Sign-ups Opened for Stand-ins, Rules & More!

We opened sign-ups for our PokéJungle Tournament 2014 (or PJT ‘14, as we’re going to call it!) two days ago and within 24 hours all initial competitor slots were filled! We’re incredibly excited to see so many of you want to take part in our tournament and we can’t wait until we kick start off the first round.

Stand-in Sign-ups

It’s expected that a few of our competitors will have to drop out due to unforeseen circumstances, because of that we’re offering 10 more of our readers a chance to get in. The sign-ups below are for stand-in competitors, while it’s not guaranteed anyone who signs up for a stand-in position we’ll get to participate in the tournament, you’ll be our first port of call should we need more players. There will be 10 slots available for stand-in players, and should we require one of you to take part in the tournament we will randomly select names from the list to fill tournament slots.

Stand-in sign-ups should be completed using the form below, but please remember spaces are limited! Since closing sign-ups we’ve had two spots freed up, which means we’re actually offering the first two stand-on sign-ups the final two places in our tournament, so act fast!

Confirmed Competitors

Though everyone who signed-up to the tournament has been given a place, we thought it best to display a list of competitors who have successfully gained, that can be found below! If any of you wish to withdraw from the tournament we will be providing a withdrawal form nearer the start of the tournament. Of course, you can also contact us in any other way beforehand.

Tournament Rules

Perhaps most importantly for this post, we’ve decided to share the first revision of our Official Tournament Rules. For the most part these will be the final rules we use in the tournament, though we’re still making adjustments here and there to perfectly tailor them. If after reading them you no longer wish to partake, that’s absolutely fine and as we said above: let us know and we will withdraw you from the tournament.

The PokéJungle Summer 2014 Tournament will use a rule set that has been modified from the VGC ‘14 Season Official rules. All players taking part in the tournament are required to abide by all rules set out below. Anyone found breaking them will be disqualified immediately. As well as following these rules players are expected to conduct themselves with common courtesy before, during and after the battle period.

Players will be responsible for arranging when a battle will take place, although we will provide platforms for you to do so. After the battle both players must report the results of the battle. We ask that all players save their battles in their Vs. Recorder so that it can be used for confirmation of battle results if a dispute occurs.

Pokémon

When choosing Pokémon to take part in the PokéJungle Tournament, it’s important they all conform to our rules for entry, as seen below.

  • All Pokémon must be legitimately obtainable in Pokémon X & Y. We are allowing transferring of Pokémon from older games through Poké Transporter
  • The following Pokémon are banned: Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde.
  • Species Clause: No two Pokémon can share the same Pokédex number
  • Two or more Pokémon cannot have the same nickname in a team
  • Pokémon cannot be nicknamed using the name of another Pokémon. (For example naming a Sewaddle “Snover”)
  • Pokémon able to Mega Evolve are allowed to do so
  • Any Pokémon used by players that are above Level 50 will be lowered to Level 50. Pokémon below Level 50 will remain as they are
  • Players will be required to use 6 Pokémon throughout the tournament. These Pokémon will remain the same through the entire tournament and cannot be changed.

General

  • All matches will be played in the Singles, 6 VS. 6 format
  • Item Clause: No two Pokémon can hold the same held item
  • Your Pokémon team must remain the same through the entirety of the tournament. No changes are allowed unless we state otherwise
  • A disconnection from the battle will result in an automatic forfeit

Again, please remember that these rules for the most part are final, though we are still making adjustments. If you have any questions regarding the rules, or think we’ve got something wrong, please let us know in the comments and we’ll do our best to see to it.

  1. So i has a Fakemon Idea
It came to me when i was walking my Hell Hounds…

So I noticed a weird thin tree that caught both my shirt and my attention
a thin short whiteish tree/bush with tiny thorns that were almost like claws, it had long branches and the angle i was caught in made it look like a creature ”

so it game me the idea of a Slender Plant creature with long root like limbs (Bipedal) with long arms with long clutching finger claws and the boy is thin to make it move faster and its scrawny frame allows it to slip behind anything to hide

I was thinking of it being either a Grass/Ghost or Grass/Dark type based on trees that purposely latch on to you

  6. I keep imagining a Fairy/Dark Sorcerrer/Sorceress covered with a mixture of pink and black waves. All pink one arm and all black on the other arm. Something that uses Light and Dark Magic. This needs to happen!

  8. Why do you think Game Freak went all out for Vivillion? It has many great designs, two secret formes, great abilities, fantastic signature move, and killer moveset. It’s just a generic butterfly isn’t it? So why go all out?

    • Vivillon is based on the adult stage (imago) of members of the Order Lepidoptera, such as butterflies and moths. The scales are now located on the wings and Vivillon’s species name is the “Scale” Pokemon. The scales still have a distinctive pixel-like shape. If you look at Vivillon’s eyes, they also appear to be inspired by pixels.

The most exciting aspect of Vivillon’s design is the various wing patterns. The wing pattern is determined by the geographic location set on the Nintendo 3DS system of the original owner. There are 18 known wing patterns. This variety of wing patterns is most likely inspired by Polymorphism). Here is a piece of information on polymorphism in Lepidoptera, taken from Wikipedia:

“Polymorphism is the appearance of forms or “morphs”, which differ in color and number of attributes within a single species. In Lepidoptera, polymorphism can be seen not only between individuals in a population, but also between the sexes as sexual dimorphism, between geographically separated populations in geographical polymorphism and also between generations flying at different seasons of the year (seasonal polymorphism or polyphenism)

    • you could say the same about diggersby and talonflame GF decided to give love to the regional pokemon this gen and thats good

      Reply
      • I actually did say something about Talonflame. Albeit random, but it’s still nice of them to do that regardless. Although it could be because there’s only 72 new pokémon.
