PJM February Contest – Round One

Want to have your own article featured in Pokéjungle Magazine and win a printed copy? Now’s your chance! We’re doing a contest a few months in advance so everyone has the time to write their articles and we have time to rate them all. How does this work? Well…

General Info

The contest consists of two rounds. Everyone can enter in the first round. We’ll then evaluate everyone and will send back mails to those who passed into the second round. After the second round one winner will be chosen and announced in advance of the magazine’s publication. His/her article will remain a ‘secret’ to the rest however. He’ll then have to manually mail (the paper kind) a letter we’ll send him/her granting us permission to publish the article. Stamps will be reimbursed from the ‘PJM Fund’. The winner will receive a printed copy of the magazine mailed to him by normal postage as a compensation!

Requirements

There are no hard requirements except for having a knack at good and creative writing. Your English doesn’t need to be perfect, as we’ll edit out the kinks together if you happen to win. A sense for punctuation and logically sounding sentences are a plus though. There are no age requirements, you can live anywhere you want and you don’t even need to own XY!

Round One

In round one you will have to write a short bio introducing yourself and a not-too-long article (more than five sentences but less than a full page) about anything you want as long as it is Pokémon related. Be sure to provide us with your Disqus name and an email which we can use to get back to you. Your real name and other personal details are not necessary (although keep in mind that when you win we need your home address to send the magazine to).

Round Two

Round Two details will be sent to you once you pass round one, but it’ll mainly consist of writing a two-page article you want to see featured in the magazine. I’ll have more to share once we near December.

I’m in! What do I have to do?

Just email your bio and article to [email protected] with the subject “PJM February 2014 Submission #Nickname”. You have until November 24th to submit articles, which is quite enough time so take your time in writing! Expect a post on the contest the 25th and I’ll regularly remind everyone of the contest in my new posts.

As a bonus, check out the new logo!We also decided to just stick with PJM instead of PJNM, dropping the ‘Network’ from both logo and name. If you’ve got any questions you can always shoot them in the comments or use my new fancy email I put up above! See you 🙂

  1. am I the only person who like ritualistically polishes their 3ds with a cleaning cloth made for the 3ds? it freaks me out when its dirty, I can see all the finger prints and they are all asymmetrical and ugly….

  2. Since Christmas is coming up, what are you guys going to get? I’m crossing my fingers I get the Zelda: A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL Bundle! I need me a better screen to play Pokemon, and I really love the design for the 3DS!

    • you’ll love that decision. I bought the red xerneas/yveltal 3dsxl and the size of the screen really makes a huge difference.

    • Hopefully A Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3 and maybe Wind Waker HD if I don’t buy it before Christmas. Maybe some other Pokemon-related merchandise strewn about in the mix.

      • I like your taste in selections. 🙂
Unfortunately, I don’t own a Wii U, and don’t think I’m planning on getting one… At least not anytime soon. I’ll probably get it once it gets old, like how when I got my red Limited Edition Wii.

        • but to answer your question I do always buy myself something for Christmas… im not so sure what I want yet… maybe i’ll get myself bioshock infinite and final fantasy 10 HD, my 2 favorite games of all time ever.

  4. im gunna start a very pessimistic conversation here: what is the most disappointing game you’ve ever played? i’d probably go with Luigi’s mansion: dark moon and pokemon heartgold (Dons flameshield)
EDIT: oh I forgot one, the king of all dissapointments: Banjo kazooie nuts n’ bolts

    • I partially agree with Heartgold. I loved playing it the first time, due to me never playing the original Gold and Silver, but it got boring after I beat everything and started over the game again…

    • I would have to say that Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity was pretty horrible compared to the greatness of other Pokemon mystery dungeon games.I hated it because of the lack of storyline, the lack of Pokemon and the lack of excitement I had while playing it. The only thing good about it was the graphics.

    • I’d go with… well, (thinks).
Probably anything that doesn’t include Dedenne.
No, but in all seriousness, probably that second paired version in a Pokemon generation. Like if you played Ruby first, Sapphire would be the more disappointing one, since the storylines are practically exactly the same and version exclusives don’t make too much of a gameplay difference. Other than that, disappointing games would probably include GTA IV (compared to GTA V) since GTA V is over 9000 times better, and other shitty Nintendo DS games like all of the Lego DS games and anything Lego on a handheld console (3DS, DS, PS Vita, if any, etc.) Pokemon Rumble Blast got a bit TOO repetitive, and Super Mario 3D Land/Mario Kart 7/New Super Mario Bros 2 all get boring once you play them through once, but I guess this is the case with almost all games which lack significant postgame content and just end after the main campaign, UNLIKE games like Call of Duty, which go on as long as you wish due to the multiplayer feature after the Campaign, and Minecraft, which practically never ends (you can still Mine and Craft after beating the Ender Dragon, and updates CONSTANTLY come out.)

    • Sticker Star… WHY NINTENDO? Why did they take almost EVERYTHING that TTYD had away and make this piece of crap? I hate to even call it Paper Mario. Call it Sticker Mario, it’s more fitting.

    • X and Y… I was expecting a full, complete version, just like pokemon platinum or B2 W2, but instead i got a pokemon game with no battle frontier and a very small post game and they make harder to train your pokemon to hight levels. Now don’t get me wrong, being a dissapointing game dosen’t means that the game is bad, i was just not expecting to be all that incomplete.

      Reply
      • ok B/W/B2/W2 were anything but complete. emerald and platinum were probably the most complete ever. they were great anmd I hope z has a battle frontier…

        Reply
      • Let me correct your argument sir. The Battle Maison is better then any Battle Frontier and the Battle Frontier was getting boring. Sure, there isn’t much unlocked after the story but unlike other Pokemon games which really boring and sort of repetitive after the story, you don’t get bored with this game. And it’s very easy to train Pokemon in this game. Super Training Ev trains your Pokemon easier than ever, The 3 star restaurant in Lumiose City is great for Leveling up, The Battle Chateau many great things such as People with teams of 2 – 3 Audino and Once you get to the rank of Grand Duke/Duchess, you can use the Black Challenge to Battle Gym Leaders at Lv 70, Elite Four at Lv 75 and The Champion at Lv 80 and you can also get heaps of Pokemiles after an hour or 2 of wondertrading which can get you Rare Candies and 25 000 Pokemiles (It’s quit eeasy to get ths much) Equal 100 Rare Candies. In conclusion, You, sir, are a complete f***ing Moron.

      • I understand your pain, and yes it feels like a teaser for something bigger (Z), but maybe everyone’s expectations were a little too high?

        Reply
        • Ok, seriously? I try to help and some jerk downvotes me? Would you rather Pokémon have been canceled as a series after B/W 2? I’m pretty sure nobody here wanted that.

          Reply
        • With all the hints of a new region and all these other things, i wouldn’t mind if X and Y were the first half of something…well, as long as the next games have everything else and we just need to transfer everything that is…something like that at least.
