PJM February Contest – Round One

Want to have your own article featured in Pokéjungle Magazine and win a printed copy? Now’s your chance! We’re doing a contest a few months in advance so everyone has the time to write their articles and we have time to rate them all. How does this work? Well…

General Info

The contest consists of two rounds. Everyone can enter in the first round. We’ll then evaluate everyone and will send back mails to those who passed into the second round. After the second round one winner will be chosen and announced in advance of the magazine’s publication. His/her article will remain a ‘secret’ to the rest however. He’ll then have to manually mail (the paper kind) a letter we’ll send him/her granting us permission to publish the article. Stamps will be reimbursed from the ‘PJM Fund’. The winner will receive a printed copy of the magazine mailed to him by normal postage as a compensation!

Requirements

There are no hard requirements except for having a knack at good and creative writing. Your English doesn’t need to be perfect, as we’ll edit out the kinks together if you happen to win. A sense for punctuation and logically sounding sentences are a plus though. There are no age requirements, you can live anywhere you want and you don’t even need to own XY!

Round One

In round one you will have to write a short bio introducing yourself and a not-too-long article (more than five sentences but less than a full page) about anything you want as long as it is Pokémon related. Be sure to provide us with your Disqus name and an email which we can use to get back to you. Your real name and other personal details are not necessary (although keep in mind that when you win we need your home address to send the magazine to).

Round Two

Round Two details will be sent to you once you pass round one, but it’ll mainly consist of writing a two-page article you want to see featured in the magazine. I’ll have more to share once we near December.

I’m in! What do I have to do?

Just email your bio and article to [email protected] with the subject “PJM February 2014 Submission #Nickname”. You have until November 24th to submit articles, which is quite enough time so take your time in writing! Expect a post on the contest the 25th and I’ll regularly remind everyone of the contest in my new posts.

As a bonus, check out the new logo!We also decided to just stick with PJM instead of PJNM, dropping the ‘Network’ from both logo and name. If you’ve got any questions you can always shoot them in the comments or use my new fancy email I put up above! See you 🙂

  1. I feel like it was a good day. I have almost finished Chesnaught, which is on level 98, slightly disappointed with its stats but that’s my fault, I got the Pentatonix Volume 2 album two hours early, my team is halfway leveled up, and I almost got a shiny Trevenant! I give up on shinies. I don’t have that kind of luck. Lol. I got left behind in the last article. Didn’t realize a new one was posted…

      • In their pokemon of the week. It actually made me kind of pissed they would say it’s basically worthless. It says “And Delphox who is arguably good at nothing, competitive-wise.””

        • WHY?! 100+ sp.atk, sp.def & spd. Powerful moves like Shadow ball, Flamethrower & Psychic. Learns Grass Knot to Deal with Ground, Rock & Water types foes. Psyshock is epic when dealing with Special Walls. I can see their point about it not having much type variety in its moveset but come on. Oh, and GF really pissed me off by not giving it a decent HA while Chester & Froak get mind blowing new ones

          • I really don’t know. It has less weaknesses than Chesnaught, who also has x4 to flying. Everyone is all like Chesnaught is the best omg! Yeah his stats are decent but his typing really sucks. Too many weaknesses. Basically has 7 if you count the x4 to flying as 2. And it’s HA really does kind of suck. Magician should make it immune to special attacks!! That would be awesome! But it would be waaaayy too powerful xD Or maybe it could’ve lessoned the damage from special attacks or even physical attacks by 1.5x or something. Make it more bulky

          • Well even though its their opinion I have to disagree I love my delphox and I don’t think hes a bad fighter but I’m not gonna preach about it though I feel like it lol though I never competive battled so I probably suck at it I played since yellow but x and y are the first games I traded and tried new things

      • For the first pokemon of the week Kalos
Serebii- Chesnaut has awesome defense, Greninja has amazing attack and Delphox is Good for nothing… ):(

    • Yeah it’s honestly really disappointing. I can’t believe there are people out there who just want to ruin what someone else has worked for. It’s a real shame too, because I was beginning to really like wonder trade. I hear the possibility of a bad egg is really rare, but still there’s always a chance and risk. I hope nintendo can fix this somehow.

      • It’s really spiteful that someone is doing that deliberately but as much as I enjoy wonder trade I’m not going to put my competitive pokemon on the line.

        • There’s always someone out there who has to ruin it for everyone else. And I agree about not wanting to do wonder trade. I’m not anymore. I’m not putting my shiny Pyroar in danger! *o*

          • If I somehow do get a bad egg I’m going to put my 6 most valuable pokemon in my party to protect them but it would be really hard to choose 🙁

    • I have a shiny vanilluxe. Some moron (or very generous person, I don’t know) traded me one in my B2 over random matchup trade. I was so excited/confused.

          • No not really but because he looks like Ice cream he gets bashed and when people try to rebuttle that Gen 1 had some questionable designs(particularly Muk) Vanilluxe haters damage control by saying “sludge is natural”. So are icecicles and snow.

          • I actually really like Vanilluxe! I think it’s a lot better looking than what some people deem to be BA looking pokemon. I’m not gonna name any names even though I really want to. Let’s just say a certain popular grass starter.

          • Smugleaf? *Sarcasm*
But seriously, a lot of gen 6’s pokemon are popular due to the cute factor. I love Goodra, but Goomy get’s too much love. I still like Goomy don’t get me wrong, but still it seems like somethings missing. It should have been Dragon/Water or Dragon/Poison in my opinion.

          • Yeah, I completely agree. Goomy is cool and semi-cute but it’s just too much. And his pure dragon typing doesn’t make much sense..should’ve been dragon/poison for sure. It’s even purple
