CoroCoro and SPP Confirm New MegaEvolutions

The November issue of CoroCoro has leaked and officially revealed/confirmed some Mega Evolutions, the starter’s final evolutions, and more!

Mega Evolutions

  • Mega Gengar – Not an exclusive, gains the ability Shadow Tag but keeps its typing
  • Mega Aggron – Exclusive to Y, becomes pure Steel-type and gains the ability Filter
  • Mega Tyranitar – Exclusive to X and keeps the ability Sand Storm as well as its original typing

 Garchomp Serial Code

In next month’s issue of CoroCoro there’ll be a serial code that will give you access to their special Garchomp. This Garchomp holds a Dragon Fang, knows Crunch, Dragon Claw, Dig and Draco Meteor. The location of its Mega Stone will also be revealed in the next issue – that is, if we don’t find it first.

UPD: New Mega Evolutions

Thanks to Serebii we now have some new information and pictures of previously unknown evolutions. Details in the spoiler box.

[spoiler]

  • Mega Pinsir – Bug/Flying-type and has the ability Aerilate which turns Normal-type moves into Flying-type moves, X exclusive
  • Mega Heracross – Stays Bug/Fighting, has the ability Skill Link, Y exclusive
  • Mega Banette – Stays pure Ghost-type and has the ability Prankster
  • Mega Medicham – Stays Fighting/Psychic and has the ability Pure power

Apparently at some point in the game Professor Sycamore will upgrade your Mega Ring so that it can detect hidden Mega Stones. They are only detectable, however, between 8pm and 9pm.

  1. This is what utuber6061backup posted, who has the game and has been the guy posted all the in-game music

“Apparently shadow tag doesn’t work. It is impossible to use attacks or items so there must be some new mechanic behind this”

          • No, in the video he just had a Charizard and he didnt show what move he used. As a matter of fact, I dont even think he got a chance to use a move, the pokemon fled right away. And he says a Shadow Tag pokemon, even if it is higher level than the legendary doesn’t work either

          • I’m guessing that fleeing has priority +1. So the only way to damage it is with a pokemon faster than the legendary using a +1 priority move like quick attack or extreme speed. They should also try prankster mean look.

  2. Theory time!!
Sinsce x and y are supposed to be the x and y axis, pokemon z will be the z axis, which is the 3d axis! So maybe pokemon z will be completely 3d!!!!!!!

  3. I wish we could find out the moveset for Chespin/Quilladin/Chesnaught. I hope they don’t pull a Gen 3 starter on us where the base form can learn good moves that the later forms can’t. Like Giga Drain and Hydro Pump if I remember correctly.

          • I’d rather Drain Punch 🙂 Not a fan of lowering defenses haha. And I’m still shocked that this monstrous Knight doesn’t have at least 100 HP.

          • Looking over the BST, I think I’ll go for Jolly Nature and try for a characteristic also such as “Likes to run.” What do you think?

          • And don’t bother for Careful then either? It’s so hard for me because I’m new to competitive, and I just like trying to maximize my Pokemon’s potential now. I see it’s good at Defense already, and so my natural instinct is to raise something that isn’t good xD

          • That’s fake. Sorry. Some of those moves (level up) go against what we already know for these pokemon (i.e. Fennekin and Howl).

          • The point is: Fennekin can learn Howl. Greninja can learn Mat Block. Froakie’s first attack is Pound. None of those moves are mentioned here. It contradicts everything we know from these pokemon’s movesets.

            It’s just more 4chan trolling.

          • Where is it confirmed that their second abilities is true? The only thing I knew is Protean for Froakie line.

          • I’m still taking this with a grain of sand for discussion. Waiting for confirmation from serebii. But nothing has been disproven so far.

          • Can confirm this fake right now: My froakie did not learn Water Sport, Aqua Jet or Thief and Water Pulse is its latest level up move plus this list leaves out smokescreen which it can learn.

          • I think this is the final starters. So the moves you see before Water Shuriken might require the Move Remember guy.

          • Considering the 3DS has yet to be hacked for pulling code i find it really hard to believe anyone could have these details as it would require every starter to be at or near to Lvl: 100, their alternate abilities to be seen in the wild etc
Normally this information can be found easily by pulling code but this gen is different because its on the 3DS and not the DS.

          • I definitely agree on the base stats and gender percentages….but we need confirmation or unconfirmation on the tms. SInce you have the game, can you deconfirm by finding a TM move that doesn’t match?

          • I certainly can try but i only have 1 from that list so far (protect) and thats pretty common but when i get a less generic one from the list i will.

          • My wish is that Ability Capsule can change Chespin’s stupid Overgrow to Guardian. But me thinks it’s a Dream World Ability that won’t be released for a long time -_-

          • oh…
but this is not a level up list in order…but yeah I believe you over the guy who posted this. I hope it learns aqua jet at a higher level

          • Without being able to pull the code from the games (which you cant do because the 3DS has yet to be hacked) the this information is impossible to know yet. But yeah i hope it learns Aqua Jet too 😀

          • this is not a complete list it’s just a collection that’s being updated hence it says “not complete”

          • I’ve trained years by studying and observing the water types from all regions. I lived in isolation for years training with my Oshawott, eventually becoming a noble Samurott. I seek to establish my own gym, and eventually reach the elite four.

          • Well I’ve started my Journey in Kanto with a lone Rhyhorn and caught every known Ground type Pokemon from Kanto and beaten the Pokemon league, traveling to each and every region studying and training with native Ground Pokemon from their respective Regions, and now I am a Master!

          • With time Sir Ian, we should form an alliance, take over the elite 4 along with 2 other noble warriors and create the most powerful elite 4 the world has ever seen.

          • Welcome Sir Toad. Always a pleasure seeing another water type master. Be courageous as a Magikarp as you continue on your journey.

          • A magikarp is merely a gyrados who hasn’t reached his full potential yet. Now, I must ask, if you had to run a mono water type team, which six would you use?

          • By mono water team I assume you mean pure water so… :
            1) Samurott
            2) Milotic
            3) Vaporeon
            4) Clawitzer
            5) Blastoise
            6) Wailord

          • Well no just ones with water typing xD but I very much approve of this list. I’d have to go with my al time favorite, Kingler, then probably cloyster, blastoise/feraligatr, kabutops, sharpedo, and both Greninja and clawitzer look amazing this generation so I don’t think I could decide honestly

          • It’s cool xD pure water is great too! Not gonna lie, my only disappointment with x and y so far, is that there only really 2 new water types D: at least fully evolved. Cause skrelp loses it’s water typing for dragon. Which is awesome, but it sucks for us water type users xD

    • I feel like that would be way too dark and they would definitely be way too smart for just some kid to take down hahaha I mean look at what happened to Hank…….

  5. why couldnt megas be for fully evoled pokemon and instead give all the Standalone and 2 stage evolution i dont get it since if we have an absol Evo next gen the mega is worthless then

    Reply
    • Mega Evolutions are a lot more flexible than proper evolutions. Since they need a specific item to Mega Evolve, GameFreak could easily introduce a different Mega Stone if the Mega Evolution ever becomes obsolete.

In Absol’s case, Mega Absol improves Absol quite a bit. Later on though if Mega Absol isn’t so Mega compared to newer Pokemon, GameFreak can add in a different Mega Evolution that is improved stat wise or ability wise.

This could also help if Mega Evolutions utterly fail and nobody likes them or they are too powerful. GameFreak could just take out the Mega Stones and everything would be back to normal. It’s pretty perfect the way it’s set up.
