Pokémon Smash has revealed that Junichi Masuda will appear on the show on the 15th of this month. The episode will be a special one named XY Institute Special, and will showcase some more Mega Evolutions. We will be covering the episode live. Most stuff will probably already be revealed in Corocoro, which is due to leak in a few days, most likely the beginning of next week.
Update: Wes pointed out that Masuda-san will also be on stage to talk about the XY Anime. Which is actually less shocking and more interesting news. Remember, the anime will begin airing October 17th, the week after the games get released.
I think this truly deserves the Shocking News title, nobody would have thought Smash was doing a special! Keep checking back for more possible news and opinions on Pokémon XY. In the meantime, discuss what they could possible reveal in the comments! (but don’t spam ok, or else i’ll be sad 🙁 )

I can’t wait to hear what Junichi Masuda has to say about the XY anime,I hope he talks about Ash’s companions or maybe even Pokemon he might bring along, like when he brought Aipom to sinnoh. If it had to be any Pokemon it would have to be Charizard (even though I was hoping Oshawott would stick around, I’ve still got my fingers crossed so there’s still hope!) to tie in with MegaEvolution + I’m curious if Alexa will continue to travel with Ash.

Telling from its personality in that anime trailer i would say he’s getting chespin…or maybe froakie..but i doubt fennekin…or who knows all 3 lol
I suspect that Chespin won’t evolve if this is the case, and I’m thinking if he gets a Froakie, that WILL fully evolve. He hasn’t had a Water starter fully evolve yet, which is curious, and, it could be a bit of a mythology gag, especially if Froakie becomes a water/fighting. Because that would have froakie be something of a counterpart to the Poliwrath Manga Red had.
I kinda prefer he not evolve his water starters, I dunno that’s just me :/
I’m hoping he doesn’t catch Fenniken for two reasons:
1. We don’t need another tragic backstory of how his fire starter was abused and released by its original owner. Three times (albeit not in a row) is really pushing it!
2. It might evolve and become Fire/Psychic. Steel and Psychic are the two types I NEVER want to see Ash use! They’re too good for him. However, I’m ok with his using Steel and Psychic type moves.
How is any type in general ”too good” for somebody, that’s a weird reason imo :/
I think the XY anime is gonna be more serious and sort of dark cause Kalos is a big region and it gonna be more competitive than the Unova region was. As far as pokemon, i think Ash gonna just have Pikachu for XY. Its a possibility he will bring Scraggy cause I wanna see its full potential. Ash is gonna realize his purpose of becoming Pokemon master in the XY anime.

That’s really cool. I was wondering why Vivilion’s wings look like butterfree for some reason. Hmmm….I think it’s feature similar to spinda’s spots but now with colors….gah i don’t know. Maybe its just a simple gender difference and I’m overthinking.

Look at a clear version of it, not the blurry. And Butterfree. You can tell the wing shapes are different, plus with a clear version of the sprite, along with the old version of Butterfree’s sprite You can also see the three dot pattern on Vivillon’s eye on the tiny sprite too, plus it’s eyes are not Red, which is not a detail they would miss. And it’s grouped with Vivillon’s prevolutions. Any other Gen VI Pokemon in that box that can evolve are grouped with their evolutionary line as well. It’s definitely Vivillon, with white wings for some reason.
Okay, and it makes sense because of all teh Gen 6 Pokemon in there, and it follows the evolutionary line.
Being there with the evolution line pretty much seals it, why have Butterfree randomly with the Gen VI bugs? But, we should see soon. Whether Gender Difference, or Regional. Honestly, Regional differences would make a good deal of sense. They are pushing the fact Kalos is effectively split up into three areas, and each one even has it’s own Pokedex section.
I wish they would include regional differences or something similair but it might just be Vivillion. It says in it’s pokedex that “Vivillon is said to have a secret hidden in the colorful decorative pattern on its wings”.
This indicates that it’s wings might be special in some way.
Again, look carefully at the top of the wing, it bulges out. Butterfree’s wings at the top don’t bulge out.

Those rumors came about right before last months corocoro and were stated to be revealed in that. It’s possible dookie just interpreted it as being that month’s and maybe it could be this month, but they probably don’t have a high chance of being legitimate.
Doubt those are real. I don’t know if dookieshed was pulling a trick on us or if he got tricked himself.

Wow it us took one ONE DAY to completely scarf down every piece of information given in a Pokemon DIrect until there isn’t a single crumb left. We’re like vultures waiting for any scrap of leftover pokemon information to dissect and dissolve. Oh man at this pace, we’re so hungry that Corocoro will be digested in a matter of 2 days and then we’ll have an entire month with nothing to talk about.

Ahhh, but no more STAB with Air Slash and no more immunity from earthquake (I no bug resists ground, but still).
They could give it levitate. (I don’t know what ability it has now)
Real World Abilities: Tinted Lens and Speed Boost (very excellent for it)
Dream World Ability: Frisk (sucks)
2/3 of its abilities are too good to replace with levitate. I think that’s why GF made it Bug/Flying instead.
It really does not need Levitate. Tinted Lens is way more powerful. “No more STAB with Air Slash” that’s why MegaEvolutions are good if you have a Fighting, Fairy type opponent you can stay as Normal Yanmega if you have Rock, Fire, Dragon type opponent you MegaEvolve.

Well, I’d like to see a Cubone whose mother didn’t die. And it’s mother. And a prevolution of Kangaskhan, it just can’t hatch the way it is. And a Paras/Parasect which isn’t infected… But that are just Gen I plot holes. An actual Pokémon… Yeah, the original Dragon is the only one not seen, I guess.

I have not, but I believe you. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to faint it.
Not really. It has putrid HP, plus no reliable recovery. Pain split is not reliable. One toxic and it’s struggling to keep up. The only thing that’s close to viable is rest-talk. But then your other options are night shade/seismic toss and will-o-wisp/toxic. It’s more annoying than broken.
I’m just saying it wouldn’t be OP. What’s more Fairy will be super-effective. (and Duslops is sick :D)
Well, we don’t know that for certain. It is a pretty good bet Dark will be weak to Fairy, but I don’t think we’ve seen what Fairy does to Ghost yet, so they may decide to maintain Ghost/Dark’s no weaknesses and make ghost resistant to Fairy. It is one of the few novelties possible in Pokemon that way. We’ll see.
That is I’m thinking about too.But I don’t think Ghost is resist Fairy.
Or Mega Sableye could get a new ability in which it will be immune to fairy.
I highly doubt fairy will be super effective against ghost.

Unfortunately seeing as its counterpart Mawile got a Mega Evolution rather than a regular evolution, I see the same fate for Sableye.
Jynx, electabuzz and magmar were counterparts. They all were all stand-alone pokemon that were next to each other in the pokedex. And In gen 2 they all got pre-evolutions. But only magmar and electabuzz got evolutions in gen 4. So maybe sableye will have a different fate, much like jynx having a different fate than its counterparts.

The McDonald’s in Japan was supposedly going to release Pokémon toys/promos that showed a new Megalution, but the toys are just tretta pucks (Image below). There is also some sort of Pokémon X/Y quiz event at Japanese McDonald’s. Given we haven’t heard any news, it’s probably nothing.

Oh man I do! I thought I was hearing things my entire life! Also, I don’t like the thud sounds because it makes the Pokémon Universe seem a bit unrealistic. Granted they are a videogame series, but still.
I like it because then I can blindly bike up and down or left and right when hatching a ton of pokemon eggs without having to make my eyes bleed staring at the screen for 10 hours.

Yeah same, I sometimes don’t realize I’m running into a wall, and THAT is far more annoying than a large THUMP sound, because then that’s time wasted.
I prefer biking from on city to the other with a Flame Body/Magma Armor Pokémon in the front of the party. In Black 2 and White 2, I just hatch the eggs in Join Avenue at the Nursery.
You can only do that so many times a day, and when you are hatching dozens of eggs, if not hundreds in a day, it’s completely inadequate. Plus, there is a good spot on the Daycare route for just going back and forth, that’s the one I use anyways, and it keeps you in a good position to get eggs and remove hatched ones very fast.
I’m typing this on my phone outside of school. Let’s hope for some news this weekend!

Well, Black and White averted this. Final Boss was Ghetsis. You only fought the champion after you beat the game and rematched the Elite 4.
