Right now it’s 10:50PM, Japan Standard Time. I’m typing this up before I take a bath and go to sleep so I can get some rest before teaching a bunch of kids tomorrow at summer school. And after Friday ends… we’ll have new information from Saturday and Sunday’s “Pokémon Game Show”. The first day the site will be monitoring closely any news and break any new information to English-speaking fans. We’ve got NL and Kriff manning the translation booth and they continue to produce some of the highest quality translations in the Pokémon fandom. Hopefully some Japanese fans will post pictures.
On the second day (Sunday), I’ll be going myself to cover the event. I don’t anticipate digging up any exclusive information, it will probably all be spilled by Saturday, but I will be able to take pictures and give you a write up that gives you a little insight into what the event was like 🙂
For now, let’s take a quick look at what we might get based on past precedents.
PGS Expectations:
- Mega Evolutions featured in the demo. This was already confirmed by the Official Nintendo Magazine.
- New Pokémon! This was seen back when Black & White were first demoed, as well as Diamond and Pearl! (Fun fact: I played the demo for the 4th Gen in a gaming shop near my school in Osaka. Was fun to play with Roserade.)
- New merchandise. We don’t focus on it much, but there’ll probably be some cool stuff there for PGS-goers.
- …and more! No doubt the very first Pokémon Game Show will pack a few surprises for us 🙂

I’m sure people want to know other types of moves that the starters can learn so we can get hints about their possible secondary type.

Who needs hints? The Pokebeach leaks (which, may I add, have proven extraordinarily reliable thus far) label them as Grass/Dark, Fire/Psychic, and Water/Fighting. And Fennekin is already confirmed to learn Psychic. Glow Punch strikes me as a possible Psychic-type elemental punch.
The second mewtwo form isn’t confirmed yet, despite pokebeach’s rumors. I’m curious about this.
Maybe the second Mewtwo form is an alternate form of Mewtwo in the more conventional sense of forms (like Sky Forme Shaymin, Origin Forme Giratina, etc.).
I was thinking X and Y have exclusive megaevolutions….or maybe this is the reason why mega evolution requires an item as there are two different mega stones for mewtwo.

I’ve only found one flaw in those rumors: mewtwo gets 2 forms. He could’ve been mistaken though, since he said it looks like mew. It could be mega mew though…
also he got the professors name mixed up
Apparently he was going off memory with these leaks, so I personally think it’s perfectly reasonable that he mixed up a thing or two. He also made minor typos with the names for Pancham and Malamar.

That’s true, but he did include that there was a professor sycamore and that he gives you the gen 1 starters.
glow punch look mora like physich because Fenekin doesnt have arms .-.
No wonder it has a fist animation *rolls eyes.
And I’m pretty sure Fire Punch, Mega Punch, and Bullet Punch all use a fist animation and they aren’t Fighting type. Besides, the extremely accurate Pokebeach leaks suggest it should be Fire/Psychic, it can LEARN Psychic, which extremely few fighting types can even do, and those are generally the more abnormal ones anyways, and plus, as trollish as they are, I don’t think even Gamefreak is enough of a troll to give us a Fire/Fighting Starter in Fennekin, and give us ANOTHER Fire/Fighting starter on top of that with Torchic to go along with it.
Psychic punch would be really cool though, gotta admit.
Looks more Psychic. I’m guess Psychic, Fairy, or Fire. It doesn’t seem Fighting. Also, Fennekin has no “fist”.
I picture Glow Punch as a spectrum-like fist going towards the oponent, and being Psychic- (likely) or Fairy- type

What generally is the lenght of the demo? Does it starts from the beggining or do you start with a team already defined at some determined route?
Nobody knows yet.
It will mostly be like HG/SS, B/W, B2/W2 Demo. They give you a team, you start at a random point, and you have determined routes! I assume the length will be about 10-25 minutes!

Maybe all the starters or you choose the starter you play the area with. But they will most likely give out new Pokemon. In the B/W Demos they gave a new Pokemon which was Deerling. I really cannot confirm anything! Hopefully someone level grinds and evolves the starters! 😀
If I were there, I would probably spend the whole time leveling up the starter to see how it goes haha

I will have you know that the first Pokémon I ever caught in Pearl was a Bidoof. That same Bidoof became the Bibarel that saved my bacon in Oreburgh Gym. Bibarel’s use in the games goes far beyond that of an HM slave. Surprisingly versatile movepool, respectable attacking stats… Not top tier material by any means, but he can really be a good asset to an in-game team, for sure. And this isn’t even taking Moody into account. Moody Bidoof sweeps things. I heard tell of a Moody Bidoof that 6-0’d an Ubers team.
