September Corocoro Leaking! [UPD2]

[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.

[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.

This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!

On Mega Evolutions

  • “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
  • Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible  during battle.
  • A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
  • One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
  • Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
  • Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
  • Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.

Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:

  • Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
  • Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
  • Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
  • Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
  • Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
  • Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
  • Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.

More could be revealed!

New Pokémon, Miscellaneous

  •  Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
  •  Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
  • Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
  • Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
  • Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
  • Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.

Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

  1. Remember that time where most people were complaining about the potato chip and sushi Pokemon? That doesn’t seem so bad now does it?

    Reply
    • Actually, I’m appalled that the fanbase would prefer a potato chip and sushi Pokemon to a brand-new mechanic like this that would make older Pokemon more viable in competitive play. >_>

  2. I still cling to the hope it’s all a hoax, but it seems more and more legit. I’ve actually liked mawile and absol’s evos from the start, I just abhor, detest and wish hell upon the god-awful concept of “mega”-evolution. Blaziken was truly perfect as he was. Mewtwo’s forme was good enough as “awakened”. I was kinda hoping for a lucario evo, but this is just too similar, with no intelligent evolution towards the discreet egptian inspiration, and just crappy pimping that makes it look it had baggy jeans and a dinosaur aesthetic added. Absol and Mawile have no benefit to reap from being bagged with perfectly fine, fully fledged pokemon as victims of a concept that gamefreak knows makes the pokemon too different to be forms and too similar to be evos (except for mawile and absol), and is also probably too scared to call evos because it messes with the 3-stage evolution idea.

Despite my initial love of what had been revealed for this generation and my high hopes for the game, it seems gamefreak has decided to take a long, hard dump on my dreams (sorry for being crude, but that’s exactly how I picture it) and to hand over creative decisions to a 5-year old who thought 3-stage evolution wasn’t enough and pokemon needed to copy Digimon’s OTT design choices.

I was looking forward to exploring Kalos’s fields, but now I’m just lost in a dark void. Thinking of pokemon now has a disgusting afterthought of the horror that has just been commited in my view. Maybe it’s time I moved on from pokémon to something that has minimum standards of consistency and doesn’t take creative risks of this magnitude. If wanting a shred of consitency means I’m not a real fan, then so be it.
Now all that needs to happen is for Steven Moffat to mess up doctor who’s 50th and my too favourite things will be wrecked before christmas.

EDIT: Seriously, dislikes? I’m not insulting anyone, just stating how I feel about this.
Can not one of you answer in an intelligent fashion to tell me why they think I’m wrong and overreacting? Or are you offended by my crude imagery ? (in which case, get a life).

    • That’s where different people disagree, I never liked blaziken as a design… I loved torchic but ended up with mudkip since I preferred all of its evolutions as a whole. This mega form blaziken though? I love it! I would finally have a blaziken on my team just to have it go mega. It just appeals to me more. Maybe you will like some of the other megas, if there are some. We really don’t know much yet!

Doctor who is one thing that is not consistent at all 😛 I have high hopes for the 50th though, and the new doctor is awesome. But I’m getting off topic here!

      • Yeah, Doctor Who, isn’t very consistent, that’s very, true, but one could say it’s consistent in it’s own inconsitency. Pokemon was pretty consistent though, and this flies in the face of its consistency. Adding pseudo fourth-stages, legendary evolution, and depriving Absol and Mawile of real evos to benefit this strange concept is blasphemy as I see it. Is Evee the only one to be safe from the depriving of previous gen pokemon of real evolutions?
Also, Mega”insert pokemon here”? Really? That’s soooo imaginative >:'(.
I don’t exactly dislike the megas in themselves, I think they all look pretty cool, I’m just disgusted by the concept. For, example, I don’t mind Megalucario, I just wished lucario had been given a properly different evo instead of being needlessly tampered with.

        • I see what you are saying now 🙂 I really want to know more about how the mega-form-lutions affect the actual stats etc, how much of an advantage they give. I think it will all end up relying on how it feels in-game, maybe it will work, maybe it will feel slightly out of place.

Are they confirmed to be called ‘mega’ in English? I see what you mean there too, it does feel a bit strange to have a generic prefix in pokemon. Also glad you like the actual designs. It is a good point though, it is a shame if we have missed out on actual evolutions because of this, although I like the redesigns too.

Basically, at the moment I am cautiously optimistic. We really need some official updates now!

    • It is a love/hate thing and there will be pros and cons, but I do think it adds another layer to the strategy and will make useless/forgotten Pokémon relevant again (assuming more Pokémon get megalutions). There is a lot to like about in Pokémon games and a lot of great stuff coming in X&Y. You shouldn’t let one feature get in the way of your enjoyment 🙂

P.S. Dislikes are supposed to be for people who disagree with your opinion, nothing personal.

      • I’m pretty sure I wil buy Y, and that I will warm up to all this, but for now, the mega-evolution concept still riles mes. Oh, and about dislikes, I happen to go on another disqus using site where they are very much frowned upon, and this despisal has rubbed off on me. You’ve got to agree dislikes don’t promote harmony or intelligent conversation :).

        • That’s fair enough it always takes time to get used to new things. Pokémon has always progressed slowly, so this is quite a major shake up and us fans weren’t prepared.

Yeah I do think it’s sometimes used wrongly and like you said doesn’t promote discussion that well, but at least you can say you win if no one has the balls to respond in writing 😛

    • I’d have to say mega evolutions, because they’re so out of the blue and no one could have speculated or even guess this was going to be a thing. I love both fairy and mega evolutions though 🙂

    • Mega Evolutions, no question. Fairy type was leaked too much for it to be that stunning of a reveal, but Mega Evolutions… look around you, man! Look at all these comments! This is freaking huge!

  3. I actually like the idea of Mega Evolution. It adds something new to a stale concept. Better this than everything getting new “formes”

  4. When I first saw this I thought it was fake, then I read on and it says confirmed! :DDDDDDD Absol and Lucario look amazing!! 😀

  5. Whether you like it or not, I think we can all agree that this was indeed a “century scoop” like corocoro said it would be.

  6. Holy Crap. If this item is a Held Item then does that mean every single fully evolved Pokemon will get a Megalution ?

If not I want a good explanation lol

  7. Wait does this mean since Blakizen got a Mega evolution does that mean all the other starters will get Mega evolutions? And I’m kinda mixed about the Mega evolutions. On one hand Absol and Mawile get the evolutions we wanted and I’m really excited about them, but on the other hand why did they give one to Blaziken, Lucario and Ampharos who are already really strong and good pokemon. Especially Blaziken and Ampharos who are already the 3rd stage in their lines. I really hope that Farfetch’d and Dunsparce and some other pokemon get these as well because they need it the most, while Blaziken, Lucario and Ampharos really don’t. However I will admit this is a really big scoop, that they said would be coming in this issue and it’s the perfect thing for GameFreak to do to screw with our heads, cause now I have literally no idea what to expect now. Also the designs are really good for these Mega evolutions save Ampharos but I’ll get used to it.

  8. I can’t believe people are complaining. I guess people want to play the same old concept every game. I think mega evolutions add a new twist and allows pokemon that was useless a new advantage in battles now, instead of trying to link a new evolution to a old pokemon(Not saying its anything wrong with it). I hope its more and not just these six

    Reply
    • I disagree for one main reason. It’s not that we want the same old concept, but all these form changes and so called “mega evolutions” are really getting quite boring an annoying. I’d rather have new Pokemon compared to new forms.

      Reply
      • You just contradicted yourself lol you basically saying you want the same old concept. By that way pokemon would have been ended. Its nothing wrong with adding a new concept to a game

        Reply
        • How did I possibly contradict myself? I said all these new forms and evolution are getting annoying, implying that I want CHANGE from all these stupid forms that quite honestly nobody ever really uses. If I wanted the same old concept then I would have been for these new forms or evolutions. Let’s be honest, who really uses resolute keldeo, sky form shaymin, the therian forms, and any other form of pokemon whether it is a legendary or not? Most people stick to the originals. These forms and all this junk really need to stop.

          Reply
          • You’re not saying you want CHANGE. You are saying you want the old concept back(i.e. release a batch of new pokemon, older pokemon get new evo or pre-evo). You even implying that NO ONE uses these pokemon.

          • Just because I say that I don’t want any more forms doesn’t mean that I want the old format back. Variety is needed or else the games get boring. And I don’t consider mega evolutions to be vastly different from forms, they give stat boosts and change the appearance of the Pokemon. This is simply adding forms and calling it something different. When gamefreak actually adds something DIFFERENT, then I will be excited for change. This, my friend, is not change.

          • lol How do you know they give stat boost?!?!?. How else do you think they could possible change Pokemon?!?!? What else do you want from gamefreak? Enlighten me. NO one saw this coming, and its completely different from forms. You making a pointless argument and haven’t even provided what else can they do to change pokemon. You want them to just add regular evolutions? You want them to use Day/Night to make were wolf type pokemon?!?! If Pokemon stayed to the old style. Most likely people WOULD still be complaining about them not adding anything new.

          • Ok, I barely understood what you just said. But did you seriously just ask me how I know that the mega evolutions will give stat boosts to Pokemon? What’s it gonna do then? Make them weaker? Because that makes a lot of sense. And it’s not gonna keep their stats the same, because what would be the point of adding them in the first place? What do I want from gamefreak? A great Pokemon game with some actual change. Fairy type was a good change, reusable tm’s was a good change, heck, even the very beginning of forms was good change (Giratina). But giving tons of Pokemon form changes is NOT a good idea AT ALL.

  9. mega evolution could serves as in battle evolution that people have been wanting.
think about when your pokemon is backed in a corner than BOOM mega evolution. it would add a lively twist in battle and give pokemon consider lower tier a chance to fight.

    • To bad no one is thinking like this they just want the old way pokemon release. They don’t like new things added to Pokemon.
