Pokémon Crystal to be Released on Virtual Console

As many speculated when Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver were released on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console last year, fans will get a chance to re-play the classic Pokémon Crystal as well.

Set for a release on January 26, 2018, it will include the ability to deposit caught Pokémon in Pokémon Bank and transfer them to Gen VII games. The re-release of Crystal will also allow players to encounter the legendary Celebi!

I, for one, am massively excited! The animated sprites of Crystal are some of the most iconic in the series. It also finally let you choose the gender of your trainer at the outset of your adventure! This will be a great way to start 2018 for trainers across the world!

First Pokémon the Movie 2018 Trailer Released

Has it gotten you pumped for its release next year?!

Gen III Coming to Pokémon GO This Week!

Pokémon GO, the augmented-reality game for iOS and Android by developer Niantic, is about to get a lot more exciting this week with the release of 50 Pokémon and weather coniditons – both which originally appeared in Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire!

“Starting later this week, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, and several more Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region in the Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire video games will start appearing in Pokémon GO for the first time ever—with even more to be discovered over the next several weeks! We’ll also be introducing a new dynamic weather system in Pokémon GO that will change the way you and the millions of Trainers around the world discover, catch, and interact with Pokémon.

You’ll want to start paying even closer attention to your local weather patterns, Trainers. In addition to the in-game map being updated with cool new weather visuals, weather near you will impact Pokémon in a variety of ways. For example, you’ll find your odds of discovering Mudkip splashing around will greatly improve on rainy days, as certain Pokémon types will be more commonly found during various weather conditions. Additionally, attacks of certain types will be more effective during some weather conditions, so a Charizard’s Fire Spin will perform better on sunny days, for example. Rain or shine, winter or spring, your gameplay experience will remain fresh, making your time outdoors even more exciting.”

The weather conditions in Pokémon GO come with following effects:

  • Sunny (default) – Grass, Ground, & Fire-types get increased damage and spawn rates
  • Rainy – Water, Electric, & Bug-types get increased damage and spawn rates
  • Snowy – Ice & Steel-types get increased damage and spawn rates
  • Foggy – Ghost & Dark-types get increased damage and spawn rates
  • Windy – Dragon, Flying, & Psychic-types get increased damage and spawn rates

In addition to the Gen III excitement, Ho-Oh’s reign as a Legendary Raid Boss has been extended an extra 48 hours and will now be available until December 14th, 1pm PST!

What Gen III buddy are you hoping to catch? For me it’s gotta be SEEDOT!

Ice-type Appreciation: Pokémon

One of the oft-neglected Pokémon types is Ice; their attacks are great for taking down formidable Dragon-type opponents, but the typing leaves much to be desired in terms of defense. It’s for this reason that they have often struggled competitively and now even have to contend with Fairy Pokémon trying to take their spot on … Read more
