JungleAsks: What’s your favorite Dog Pokémon?

We’re just days away from 2018 which happens to be a “Year of the Dog” according to the Chinese Zodiac. In Japan, the country of origin for the Pokémon series, there are reminders everywhere as New Years draws near. There are also plenty of dog-like Pokémon now in the series, so many so that it might be hard to just pick one favorite but today we challenge you to do just that! What is your favorite dog (or dog-like) Pokémon?!

From Poochyena to Furfrou, Granbull to Manectric, what’s your favorite Pokémon that resembles a dog from our own world?

Here are some pictures to give you inspiration as you think of your answer! Tell us below!

  1. So everyone, I’m going to say that it’s now guaranteed that we’ll get a new Nintendo Direct this week after this Amazon placeholder debacle. They’ll probably drop a tweet tomorrow saying “HAPPY NEW YEAR! Join us on Wednesday…” and set the date and time. I feel like this is going to be one fantastic event if it truly goes down this way.

    • Seems likely. It’s been a little while since we got a direct and they’ll need to outline at least the first part of the year as early as possible.

      • The last one was on September 13, which feels like ages ago to me. I’m happy that we won’t have to wait too long past the new year to get a new refresher of things to look forward to!

  2. Fun fact: every Pokemon game besides the original Red and Green, Fire Red and Leaf Green, and Black and White 2, were released initially in Autumn.

(Blue came out the same year in Autumn as RG, but because it’s a third version Blue probably didn’t effect RG’s release date at all (if it was even being made when RG were released, because it’s less of a third version and more of a third game in a trio), whilst Emerald came out the same year in Autumn as FRLG. FRLG may of been delayed from Autumn of 2003 but it could’ve just been their intent)

  3. Does anyone else wonder how GameFreak would handle a reveal over the course of more than one year, like a good number of game companies do? I know the fanbase would be barely able to cope lol

    • I remember the fanbase went crazy when the initial Announcement of oras and usum didn’t have a trailer. So really if the new game is different Enough maybee we could have small trailers every month or so, otherwise the whole fanbase will go nuts

      • TBF ORAS and USUM didn’t have the best reveals but like… I don’t think this fanbase realises how spoilt it is for pre-release compared to others lol

    • Best approach would be bi or trimonthly large reveals (which either narrows down the months of content to 6 or 4) with minor reveals dotted inbetween

    • I feel like revealing new info every month would be a little overwhelming and spoil the game a little too much, especially if it’s in the course of over a year, so I’m hoping for medium sized trailers every three months and adding a few more minor trailers the close it gets to release.

    • As they currently operate, they couldn’t. They haven’t put enough content into these past 2 generations to draw it out for so long. They barely make it on the pre-release marketing schedules as is. (I’d even argue that they don’t given how abysmal hype was for USUM)

    • Let’s see what happens in the January’s Nintendo Direct
I think they will reveal the title names and we’ll have to wait until before summer to see the first images

    • I expect something like this:
      January Direct:
Pokemon [Blank] and [Blank] coming to Nintendo Switch 2019
      Beggining of Summer Pokemon Direct:
Region, starter, protagonist, box legend and battle system reveals
      The rest of 2018:
      Trailers showing more and more
      Very Beggining of 2019:
      One Final Trailer
      Early 2019:
      The release

  4. I hope for Gen 8 it’s not based off a tiny region like Gen 5 and 7 were, they really should return to actual countries instead of “Ooh! Hawaii!’ or “Ooh! New York City!”. They need to expand the cultural influence to southeast Asia or Eastern europe.

  5. Ughhhhhhh note to viewers Hawlucha has a very low SOS rate, I spent 36 minuets hunting one and an hour and a half and it only called 8-14

Honed Claws and eventually brought down my entire hunting party aka Marowak, Scyther and Pangoro until I was left only with Aerodactyl and Pressure it into struggling

    • Definitely was for me. The most mind-blowing thing is that BotW feels so expansive yet so open for improvement. I can’t really say the same for Odyssey, which is sort of locked in place. Both were incredible though!

    • Currently I’d say I like BotW better. You can explore everything. Whereas in Mario there are still places limited by Mario’s jump. But there are definitely comparable aspects of Odyssey that are better than BotW. For example, power moons and the purple coins are way more satisfying to get than Korok seeds.

In the end it comes down to what you prefer. I’m more of a Zelda fan so naturally BotW holds more meaning to me. Mario has always been something I play with friends so Odyssey is something that I both dislike and enjoy.

  6. I just watched the last Nintendo Minute video of 2017 and it had some very suspicious moments. Krysta said one of her resolutions for 2018 was to play a long term game, and was talking about Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley as possibilities there. Also, they said that they’re taking a break for the first half of January…for all of the new Direct content to blow over perhaps?

  7. So I started playing Metroid Samus Returns last night. Not too far in yet, but so far I’m enjoying it. Have never actually beaten a Metroid game so this should be good. It’s the last game in the line of games from older series from Nintendo I have set out to beat this year (sort of) The first game was a Zelda game, Then a Mario game. And now a Metroid game. Until this past year I don’t think I’ve ever actually beaten a Zelda or Marion game ever. Played them sure, but never fully beaten any. Now that’s not true as I’ve beaten both BOTW and Odyssey. Now I set out to beat Samus Returns so I can say I’ve beaten at least on game in Nintendo’s biggest 4 series.

      • Yeah seems to be. I’ve played a little of Fusion and the original game when I was younger, but for some reason never really got into it. I like Samus and the world in general, but my tiny kid brain just couldn’t focus long enough for me to actually get through a game. Which really says something as the Metroid games are generally some of the short games in Nintendo’s arsenal. haha

I really really REALLY hope the water starter is something I love this gen…. I always claim I love water types but I rarely actually pick water starters. It feels really weird

  9. Jesus Christ! Super Mario Challenge in Mario Maker is difficult!

I have replayed 2-4 enough times that I went from 2 lives left to 30 because its so damn hard

Because it’s all clock based as you hit a button and have about 10 secs to get across certain places or die!
