We’re just days away from 2018 which happens to be a “Year of the Dog” according to the Chinese Zodiac. In Japan, the country of origin for the Pokémon series, there are reminders everywhere as New Years draws near. There are also plenty of dog-like Pokémon now in the series, so many so that it might be hard to just pick one favorite but today we challenge you to do just that! What is your favorite dog (or dog-like) Pokémon?!

    • Not sure, but I know the most recent Kanto remake (sort of?) rumor was deleted by an admin that was deleting the SM leaks from 2016. That much on its own is interesting.

  5. Just started playing Axiom Verge and based on the first 20 minutes, this game is the closest to the first Metroid than I’ve seen any other metroidvania come to. It’s great so far

JUST IN: Crobatair responded to PokeSirena and she said this regarding the deleted Kanto Remake post on Tieba forums: “Nothing else. ‘Kanto remake’ is just a nominal statement without any further details.” What’s your take? Real or fake? I wonder why the Tieba Admins would delete such a vague post. I’m sure there’s tons of posts on Tieba saying that the Switch game will be a Kanto Remake but why haven’t those been deleted? I don’t get it.

    • Also like it’s been said the admin that deleted it apparently has ties with a group of proven leakers and even was deleting leaks from 2016. It’s certainly telling, but it’s a very hard thing to out right say one way or the other. (I know I basically said this to your other post down below lol)

      • Maybe he deleted this time to help out the real leaks to prevent false information from spreading? I guess we’ll never know. All I know is that according to PokeSirena, two deleted Tieba forum posts in the past have led to valid information. That being the Sun and Moon Chinese leaks about no Gyms, etc. then the Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Chinese leaks mentioning Team Rainbow Rocket. I’m sure that there’s tons of other posts on Tieba that say the Switch game is a Kanto Remake. Why haven’t they deleted those then? I am just so confused. Ah well. There’s nothing we can do but wait to see what happens.

        • With all the threads that just simply talk about rumors/leaks and whatever I’m not sure the admin would just delete one in order to make sure fake rumors weren’t spreading. would be a waste of time since there are many more fakes out there. It’s more suspicious that they did in fact delete it. If they left it alone the post may have just blended into the void of all the other posts. Now it’s got some slightly possible credit just because an admin that apparently has ties to leakers deleted it.

          • It is suspicious and warrants some attention and concern. Though I heard from PokeSirena that 3 of her sources (all of which knew about Rainbow Rocket early) mention that the Switch game will indeed be Generation 8, one source says it will be DP Remakes, and one source says Kanto Remakes (not sure if she is counting the deleted Tieba leak or not). Again, there’s nothing that we can do but wait and see what happens. Which is sad. All I want is Generation 8. That’s all I want! I honestly don’t care about anything else at this point. Lol.

          • PokeSirena also said to me (I’ve been keeping it touch with her) that she hasn’t really seen any Tieba forum posts mentioning the Switch game being a Kanto Remake, so that also warrants futher concern. I don’t really know what to think to be honest. There’s so much “information” spreading around about the Switch game, I don’t know what to believe anymore. I just want my new Generation 8 Pokemon dammit!

          • “concern” as if a crazy new look for Kanto would be a bad thing considering it hasn’t really been fleshed ever. Anyway I have a theory that I posted yesterday. You say you want gen 8, but how would you feel about a somewhat reboot where we are in Kanto, but it has a larger dex with brand new Pokemon in it and a new story? I’m sort of thinking that the people saying that we’ll get gen 8 and the people saying we’ll get a Kanto return are both kind of right. It would be sort of a hybrid of the 2 things. I doubt they’ll just simply remake the original Kanto story again only with the new features we have now. It’d make more sense for them to do a brand new story even if it’s still in Kanto.

One of my coworkers got the download codes for both ultra sun and ultra moon, didn’t realize she couldn’t use them on a regular ds, so they’re giving me the codes for me and my step son, are any version exclusives better for newer players than others? And can anybody recommend switch games that are good for 3 or 4 people?

  14. So apparently something that got brushed under the rug for the anime is that there was a teaser of Giovanni doing some weird stuff. It’s prolly a teaser for the Rainbow Rocket arc if there really is one. Will be interesting to see if Ash recognizes any of the evil leaders or if it’s just some crap where he has selective amnesia.

  18. Ya know, other than the fact it would have a terrible 4x weakness to fighting, I Think Rockruff and Lycanroc could have been Rock/Normal Rock/Dark(for Midnight)

    • A lot of people think that Midnight should be dark but honestly I don’t see it anymore

      Lycanroc midnight isn’t malevolent or vicious, more of a battle hungry combatant who lives to fight stronger and stronger opponents, it’s just hot blooded

So I just got to look at the USUM Pokédex guide, not expecting anything interesting out of it (I buy them to collect them), it’s the usual does it’s job except it doesn’t include mega evolution dex entries for some reason… But then it had some interviews at the start with some very interesting detail on the development philosophy of the games and on the general design ethos for pokémon. Like how sugimori’s ethos is purposefully making sure pokémon aren’t too cool by altering them accordingly, so they can be more interesting and memorable; or how they purposefully go out to make controversial additions like ultra beast rather than give us what we expects.
    The USUM development interview is interesting because it reveals how deeply they think about things… and it’s interesting to think how somehow they simultaneously miss out on making things feel perfectly done, in the classic gamefreak style

  21. Also this is super late because I saw it back when it came out but I was busy then, and I still want to throw out a few thoughts:

    -It was as mediocre as expected, though enjoyable.

    -The visual quality could be weirdly inconsistent but overall was enchanting, definitely the best aspect of the film.

    -The new characters (the travelling companions and the rival) were honestly mostly utterly bland stock characters with no ounce of the charm of the ones they replace, and that old Bonji dude was empty exposition character use at it’s finest (though they somehow cared enough to give him a massively intriguing design without exploring that aspect at all).

    -Overall it mostly felt like a visually stunning but often empty retread of the first few big beats of the anime’s start, banking off emotional attachment that couldn’t be built up because here the time we originally had wasn’t there (I think the best example of this was the buterfree goodbye, which really was just cashing in on nostalgia feels)

    -The inclusion of marshadow and it’s tie into ho-oh was probably the most egregious nonsensical inclusion of a legendary “because it needs to feature in the story” I’ve ever seen. I haven’t been watching the movies for a while but this whole crap that Bonji was throwing about Marshadow being the shadow guardian just felt nakedly lazy like I’ve never seen before, Marshadow in universe is just important because it’s important, because it was in the development checklist.

    -That pikachu talking scene was surprising but obviously it’s just to highlight the strength of the emotional connection, so I don’t really have many thoughts about it

    -All that said my overall impression wasn’t really negative because this is the general quality I expected. I mostly went for the special pikachu, and I got what paid for: a fun time with my friends.
    It says a lot that the ending clip and generations episodes they showed afterwards were probably the highlight of the whole thing haha .

    Two things stood out though:
    -THAT LUXRAY SCENE… Boy, that messed us up, did not expect something that harsh.

    -So everyone’s talking about the pikachu talking scene, how come i’ve never seen anyone talking about the ASH COMA THEORY MIGHT BE REAL SCENE. Like holy sh*t that was so weird/perturbing/unexpected/why/interesting! It was so jarring to see a world without pokémon that makes sense like ours! Who would ever have thought pokémon would tackle that! It had ash and co at a regular school and all! Cars instead of pokémon on the posters! I was so confused as to where they were going with it… THE IMPLICATIONS! That was so unnerving yet fascinating! I don’t understand why the hell they went there but I’d love to see this sort of aspect more explored!

    Though I do I think it was mediocre overall, I’m certainly intrigued that the next movie seems to stay in this continuity but add in Pokémon 2000’s plot elements, and look forward to seeing more of that

  24. So Samson’s Komala officially knows Rapid Spin, Wood Hammer and newly learnt Sing which is interesting i say this because Popplio learns Sing and it shown a liking to it and it’s one of the pokemon that can pass it down via egg moves
