JungleAsks: What’s your favorite Dog Pokémon?

We’re just days away from 2018 which happens to be a “Year of the Dog” according to the Chinese Zodiac. In Japan, the country of origin for the Pokémon series, there are reminders everywhere as New Years draws near. There are also plenty of dog-like Pokémon now in the series, so many so that it might be hard to just pick one favorite but today we challenge you to do just that! What is your favorite dog (or dog-like) Pokémon?!

From Poochyena to Furfrou, Granbull to Manectric, what’s your favorite Pokémon that resembles a dog from our own world?

  1. Hey guys! I know it’s been a while, but I wanted to stop in for the end of the year, mostly to explain my GotY list and main hopes for 2018. Let me know yours as well!

Whew, what a great year it’s been for gaming. The beginning of the year showed promise, and although there was a lot of doubt, this year really delivered. With that, I’m gonna say my top 5.
    Personal GotY 2017 List
    5) Splatoon 2 – I’ve talked extensively on this one. I loved the game and put 110 hours into it, but what holds it back the most is that it doesn’t vary all that much from the original. Updates fixed some of this, and it’s still thouroughly enjoyable. If it isn’t broke, I guess.
    4) Fire Emblem: Echoes – Great remake updated for the current era, loved the VA and the story, deep new characters.
    3) Super Mario Odyssey – Wonderful exploration, soundtrack, collectibles. Didn’t hook me nearly as much as the next two, but still fantastic.
    2) Breath of the Wild – Not much new to say here, still a masterpiece.
    1) Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – A complete masterpiece. Fantastic characters, narrative, soundtrack, rewarding battle system, sense of exploration, and an overall blast. Not without flaws- mainly some weak story moments and some less than enthusiatic voice acting, but great nonetheless.
All in all, on the last day of the year, I can firmly say that 2017 was the most enjoyable year in gaming for me, period.

It’s time to move on, I suppose, though, given that we literally only have a few hours depending on where you live. In that light, here are my main three hopes for 2018.
    Hopes/Hypes for 2018
    3) Monster Hunter: World – this one isn’t so much of a hope as it is just a shout-out to the game. I am indescribably hyped for this game. I loved the beta, it seems like what Monster Hunter always wanted to be. I can’t wait, and luckily I won’t have to too much.
    2) NO Pokemon Switch – looking back a month later, USUM actually really disappointed me. I enjoyed SM more, and while it was great while playing through, it didn’t have much to catch and hold me. I want them to not feel pressured for 2018 release and take their time on a polished and content-full game. We’ll see, though.
    1) Animal Crossing Switch – nintendo pls

All in all, I hope they can keep up the momentum. But who knows? For now, I’m gonna sit back, play some FE: Warriors, and waste the last hours of the year, just like I have the rest.

  2. Exactly 1 hour and 51 mins. left in my area for 2017.

Ahh it was good year, but also a bit crummy in some parts so I rate this year 6.5/10

I got a few Pokémon I’ve been saving for a few days, but I’ll let them be apart of my introduction to 2018

  5. For my top 5 games of 2017, these are them:
    5) Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon – Fun filler game that helped me get two plus boxes of shinies, a shiny Pheromosa and shiny Oricorio.
    4) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Amazing kart game with an epic battle mode and some new characters.
    3) Splatoon 2 – Fun battling sequel that unfortunately got boring after a fe months.
    2) Super Mario Odyssey – Amazing phenomenal game that barely is behind BOTW.
    1) BOTW – Fantastic, gigantic exploring game with emotion and comedy and power and so on.

      2014 – 8/10

      2015 – 9/10

  8. Hi y’all! Happy new year to everyone! Here’s hoping 2018 is a year of blessings, good health, fun games, and wonderful memories!

I had a blast this year as it consisted of my switch purchase and many wonderful memories playing Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart, and of course, BOTW + DLC. I look forward to Yoshi, Pokemon (at the very least we will have rumors, trailers, speculation, and reveals this coming year), hopefully Smash for the switch, and so much more!

2018 will be the year I start grad school, the year I get my own place and move out of my parent’s house, and the year I continue to reinvent myself.

Thank you all for a wonderful year!

    • I’m sorry 2017 was so bad for you. 🙁
Personally, 2017 was the best year I’ve had in a while, mostly because it’s hard to be worse than ’15 and ’16. Hopefully only good things are in store next!

      • What part made little sense? That said I really hoping we get a sequel because there is so much potential with this franchise. And with how Rita looked I want to see what they do with Lord Zedd!

        • It was called The Ice Harvestors (Yeah I haven’t seen Power Rangers yet, but I know I’ll like it Probably should have made that more clear)

The movie I watched story was kind odd and all over the place and all, but 3 characters ended up dead and some were very unnecessary

          • Oh lol thought you were talking about tre power ranger movie. If you grew up on it like I did I highly recommend watching it! Really great movie. And I have never heard of the ice harvesters in all honesty. May need to look it up later

  10. Yo everyone it has been a while. It has been a busy and stress-filled winter break but I wanted to wish everyone a Happy 2018, especially those currently living in the CT time zone as I am right now.

  12. goona go to sleep but I’ll give an excerpt from my Splatoon 2 section of my best of 2017 essay

Splatoon 2’s hands down best addition is an online co-op mode called Salmon Run. The goal is to make it three waves fighting off oncoming hordes of enemies while collecting golden eggs from bosses using preset weapons and gear.
The maps are small and concentrate on a few spawn areas and the egg collection area. An interesting push and pull occurs as enemy spawns start off quite manageable. Enemies will rarely make it very far. As the round moves along, more bosses and enemies spawn.

The bosses all have unique ways of being dealt with requiring more concentration meaning that more enemies can slip through the cracks and very quickly baddies will start to overwhelm your team. The mode will push your movement and aim to the test as you desperately head towards the basket to drop the last egg in as time ticks down, your team is completely dead and you’re being fired at from every direction. It’s amazing.

    • I agree, Salmon Run is a great idea and perfect addition to the Splatoon universe. However, I’ve been Profreshional rank for quite a while now and am deterred to go back because I don’t want to jeopardize that ranking, nor do I want to be challenged so greatly every time I play. Besides that, it’s great.

  13. Happy New Year for all of you who are now in the future! We’re about 90 minutes away in California right now, so the excitement isn’t quite here yet. I know you’re all distracted, but this whole Nintendo Direct situation is slowly picking up steam. First, someone named John Harker (who used to be on Neogaf and apparently had/has connections) is claiming the Direct will be on Thursday, January 11, presumably with an announcement on Tuesday, January 9. I think this is the most likely outcome myself, but I still have a thread of hope that it’ll happen this week. Lastly, there’s this amusing leak on 4chan right now which conflicts with the previously mentioned information but I still find remotely interesting to think about.

    • Oh, and sorry about the bad word at the top of the 4chan one, I didn’t take the screenshot. And I don’t condone the language. It’s 4chan being 4chan.

      • That seems to be the one that has people hooked from this whole thing, it isn’t just you. I think it’s perfect enough to be real, although clearly it probably isn’t.

    • Oh how I would love to get the South Park games on switch. That said I doubt this leak is true although I do see Mario odyssey getting dlc personally. We shall see hopefully soon.
