Gen III Coming to Pokémon GO This Week!

Pokémon GO, the augmented-reality game for iOS and Android by developer Niantic, is about to get a lot more exciting this week with the release of 50 Pokémon and weather coniditons – both which originally appeared in Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire!

“Starting later this week, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, and several more Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region in the Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire video games will start appearing in Pokémon GO for the first time ever—with even more to be discovered over the next several weeks! We’ll also be introducing a new dynamic weather system in Pokémon GO that will change the way you and the millions of Trainers around the world discover, catch, and interact with Pokémon.

You’ll want to start paying even closer attention to your local weather patterns, Trainers. In addition to the in-game map being updated with cool new weather visuals, weather near you will impact Pokémon in a variety of ways. For example, you’ll find your odds of discovering Mudkip splashing around will greatly improve on rainy days, as certain Pokémon types will be more commonly found during various weather conditions. Additionally, attacks of certain types will be more effective during some weather conditions, so a Charizard’s Fire Spin will perform better on sunny days, for example. Rain or shine, winter or spring, your gameplay experience will remain fresh, making your time outdoors even more exciting.”

The weather conditions in Pokémon GO come with following effects:

  • Sunny (default) – Grass, Ground, & Fire-types get increased damage and spawn rates
  • Rainy – Water, Electric, & Bug-types get increased damage and spawn rates
  • Snowy – Ice & Steel-types get increased damage and spawn rates
  • Foggy – Ghost & Dark-types get increased damage and spawn rates
  • Windy – Dragon, Flying, & Psychic-types get increased damage and spawn rates

In addition to the Gen III excitement, Ho-Oh’s reign as a Legendary Raid Boss has been extended an extra 48 hours and will now be available until December 14th, 1pm PST!

What Gen III buddy are you hoping to catch? For me it’s gotta be SEEDOT!

  1. Ok seriously, I never know, but do you all consider Alola forms gen 7 pokemon or gen 1 pokemon?
Personally I consider them gen 7 because they came out in gen 7 and they basically are new pokemon, most have stats change type change some even have size change

  2. These trailers are always awesome but the game just doesn’t do it for me. I still go back to Pocket Camp and Super Mario Run daily though…

      • It could take around 30 minutes to complete all your tasks, and they reset every 3 hours or so, so you could play the game for multiple hours per day if you’re really dedicated. I’m level 31 which means I’ve spent quite a while so far.

    • I will resume playing it when they release the new Pokémon, stopped after Halloween. I think I am excited to catch me some Ralts, although I am not sure if it will be part of the first 50 Pokemon to be released.

  3. On a note unrelated to the article, does anyone read Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin)? I just want to say that I have seen the most recent chapter, chapter 100, and it completely blew me away. Sorry that this isn’t really topical but I don’t really know where to express my feelings about the recent chapter since they disabled the comments section for the chapter. If anyone else has read it, let me know how you feel. Remember to use spoiler tags for the finer details.

  4. The new YouTube Rewind has many cool ytbers, a whole segment with the popular Animation YouTubers (Jaiden, Odd1stout etc) at the end and has few pretty creative ideas. Outside of that, IT F*CKING SUCKED BALLSSSSSSSS

  5. After watching the Rewind…….bad. Yet again a Rewind with most of the stuff unrecognizable. Plus, I think YT Rewind is fairly American centric, with that eclipse showing and all. So yeah, both the fact it’s literally targeted only to Americans and that majority of them are people I have no idea (I only know the disasters; the Mexican Earthquake, the Las Vegas shooting, Logan and Jake Paul). I give this a 0/10.

  6. I actually kinda liked YouTube Rewind? I think a lot of people forget that YouTube is such a big platform that you’re never goona recognize a lot of the people there because you aren’t their audience.

These vlogger type people get millions of subs and views. I don’t know what you people were expecting really.

Overall it was pretty well put together and well edited like every year. The sudden tone change from shooting stars memes to tragedy and death and disaster was very forced

The animation channel segment at the end was where it truly shined though. I think these are some of the most creative users on the site. I’m especially happy that Extra Credits got in. If you do not watch them you are doing yourself a disservice. If you love games you will love their channel.

I was also really happy to see Tabbes, Odd1sOut and Jaiden Animations.

But next year I just need one thing…

Captain Disillusion. Make it happen Youtube

    • I just found it too cringeworthy with the fidget spinner and rap scene, and the Pauls, as well as Seth Rogen’s scenes. Plus, I only understood the disasters that happened and that’s pretty bad, when you only recognize the negative events.

        • Yes. By appealing to some tweens. He’s not a content creator, he shouldn’t be on Rewind. They could have just make someone parody It’s everyday bro, that would be enough.

          • Fam, grow up please? Half of these people appeal to tweens too. That’s because it’s their audience.

He’s now a huge face of YouTube. Like it or not.

Just because you don’t like the guy doesn’t mean he hasn’t gotten more subs in a year than some people get in 7.

          • Have you actually seen what his videos are? It’s just… he might be popular, but YouTube shouldn’t support people like him

          • Yes. They’re bad but that’s just my opinion. Apparently a lot of people like his content so he’s going to be on there. I don’t understand what you don’t get about this.

Philip DeFranco surged in popularity throughout 2016 and 2017. He is on there

Jacksfilms became more popular this year. He is in there

Animation channels have become a thing, they’re on there.

            What is hard to understand?

  7. PSA:
Turns out that they were only giving away the first 10,000 slices. So now everyone is going to have to pay more for death by diabetes because they ran out.

  9. When you see people talking about how Slaking is going to, “shake up the meta” of Pokemon Go.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN. THERE IS NO “META” IN POKEMON GO. THERE’S NOT EVEN ANY LOCAL PLAYER VS PLAYER LET ALONE ONLINE BATTLING! THERE’S JUST BATTLING LEGENDS FFS
