Pokémon GO Travel Event + Pokémon Bank Update

Niantic has officially announced the Pokémon GO Travel event!

From now until to November 26th, trainers across the globe must work toward the goal of collectively catching 3 billion Pokémon in Pokémon GO! As the week progresses, and more ‘mons are caught, rewards will start to roll out: At 500 million Pokémon caught we’ll get 2x Experience, 6 hour Lure Modules and an increase of worldwide spawns. At 1.5 billion, we’ll get the previosuly mentioned bonuses plus 2x Stardust and even more increased spawns. And if we reach our goal of 3 billion we’ll get all the aforementioned rewards plus Farfetch’d will spawn worldwide for 48 hours (Kangaskhan will spawn in East Asia as compensation)!

If the below infographic isn’t your style you can check out the fun video Niantic put together for the event, or read their official blog post.

In main game news, (much to our surprise) Pokémon Bank is already compatible with Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon! Requiring 516 block, version 1.4 of the application is now available for download via the eShop. Along this, compatibility for transfers from Pokémon Gold & Silver can now be made in Poké Transporter.

What will be the first Pokémon your transfer to your new Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon games? Excited to finally add Farfetch’d to your Pokédex in GO?

  1. So I’ve cleared my mind a bit. Here are my honest thoughts on the game and warning, it’s long and not pretty.

Having completed the game and currently finishing up the last of the post game stuff, I will say that the game on it’s own is good. It does not deserve one star ratings. I’ve played one star games and this is clearly not one of them. However, I can also clearly notice that so little minimal effort was put into this game. As a third version it is incredibly dissapointing, but I already played through it and paid for it so I only have myself to blame. If you’ve never played Sun and Moon, you can pick this version up because it’s clearly better and fixes minor issues that made Sun and Moon worse. These games practically make them redudant. However, the problem with the game is that it really should’ve been DLC or one version. It would’ve gone a lot better with the reception if that was the case.

But instead, we got two versions for the full price of $40 without any major changes to the gameplay other than minor story fixes and some new Pokemon added to it.

For that reason alone, this is probably the worst “third” version of a Pokemon game I played next to Crystal ( but even then, I would want to play Crystal over this a bit more) Because even though third versions are just DLC in itself there’s still something NEW. A new Legendary Pokemon. A New gameplay change. Something really. Even with Emerald and Platinum, they are clearly superior and make their games better. They practically make themselves one of their kind. Even BW2 ( if you consider that a third game) has way more than this game could ever give you.

But USUM? We already know of Necrozma so that surprise is gone there. I admit I was excited to learn more about it, but even then it didn’t make up for some of that lost excitement. There were too many glaring flaws that bogged this game down and I would be more excepting of these flaws if this was there first game. But it isnt. And that’s the ducking problem. This isn’t Sun and Moon. This is a enhanced version. And you’re telling me this is ALL you can do? The game that’s the send-off for the 3ds and THIS IS ALL YOU DO? I am very disappointed. Not as a consumer, but as a Pokemon fan. Gamefreak can do better and I know they can.

Yeah, Starter Pokemon don’t take a half an hour to get anymore, but they still force feed tutorial down your throat. ( And don’t tell me it’s for new players either. My little brother was a half an hour in and just wanted to catch a Pokemon and he asked why the tutorial took so long. If a little kid is asking that, you know, your TARGET AUDIENCE, there’s a problem).

Yeah, there are story changes but those changes seldom appear until 3/4th of the way in and even then, it’s great but so short.

Yeah, there are new features and Pokemon, but the encounter rate for the new Pokemon is still complete garbage. It took me an hour to find an Alolan Pichu.

Seriously, you have to have the patience of a saint to get through this game’s 3/4ths quarter to get to the good stuff. The Necrozma stuff doesn’t start until you’re 3/4 into the game and before then there is simply not enough to keep you interested. Melemele is still a chore to get through and the fact is, your audience will not continue to play the game if they find it boring. It doesn’t matter if you keep feeding them info about this new world. Gamefreak, just let them go into it. Don’t tell them everything. Just let them enjoy it.

Now as for me, I already mentioned in another comment that I loved SM and I really do. There were glaring flaws, but in that game there was a clear effort to make it something good. But I can’t extend that to USUM. It’s really a love-hate relationship for me. I love the minor changes they made to this game to make it more vibrant and the fact that it’s more difficult and that there’s actually a decent Post-game for once in a Pokemon game. But I also hate it because this game is kind of a waste. There is no need to spend $40 on this game UNLESS you ABSOLUTELY loved SM. If you didn’t love SM or even liked it, I can’t recommend it honestly. It’s not worth it and it won’t change your mind. Which is a shame. I guess to me, Alola will always be more style over the substance.

Sorry for the long post. Just my thoughts.

    • No worries you are entitled to your own opinion and I feel where you’re coming from. Maybe a lot of focus is on switch idk but ATM im just leaving melemele so I can’t say much.
I do however expect them to be a bigger improvement then PT and Emerald but we’ll see as I play more.

    • I feel you especially with the encounter rates. I found a pichu on rt1 WAY faster than I found a hawlucha on rt3 and hawlucha has a higher encounter rate. One would think that the encounter rate would be higher for pokemon that are “native” to that region… like there shouldn’t be a reason why I can find a mankey or a machop as often as a cuteifly

  4. I think my Incineroar will have a personality like a cross between All Might and Bakugo (When angered) from Boku no Hero Academia. Also my Drampa might be a bit like Eraserhead.

  5. Lillie and Gladion are probably screaming internally since I won’t progress through Poni Island. But the Mantine Surf Course is so challenging and I really want to beat it lmao. The struggle is real >_<
