Final Ultra Sun & Moon Trailer + REVIEW WRAP-UP

Well friends, the final chapter of our Alolan adventure is almost upon us and the final trailer before the release of Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon has arrived.

The review embargo for the games has also been lifted, so here’s what official outlets are saying:

  • Nintendo Life 10/10 – “You’d be forgiven for not wanting to jump back into the same world again so soon but, in their own right, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are truly incredible entries to the series that deserve to be sitting amongst the elite Pokémon titles.”
  • GameReactor 9/10 – “The story is much more engaging this time around, there’s plenty of call-backs for long-time fans, and the title’s proceed to push the 3DS even further.”
  • Gamespot 8/10 – “Though they aren’t very different from their predecessors, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon make enough changes to stand apart as the definitive version of the seventh generation games.”
  • EGM 8/10 – “The definitive edition of Pokémon Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon encapsulate the elements of what made the first set of games great—and also carry forward some of the games’ flaws.”
  • TheSixthAxis 8/10 – “Plenty of new features and details will make fans of the franchise very happy and while I still mourn for the DexNav to this day, the new content is well worth becoming Alolan Champion once more.”
  • GameXplain ‘Liked-A-Lot’ – “They feel incredibly familiar to those who have traveled to Alola before”
  • Famitsu 36/40

  1. 7. Silvally…. this thing is… awkward.. it’s got a decent defensive type on some forms… decent…. other… stuff.. .A lot of the forms lacked coverage on the physical side prior so.. It gets a lot of new coverage moves like the pledges (apparently the blast burn part of its moveset was a mistake and it meant to reference the pledges), heat wave, and signal beam… but it’s special attack stat is mediocre and work up is the only raise it is Work Up….it has set up for its physical side which gets zen headbutt and oddly enough outrage… it also gets defog and tailwind which would make it a decent support mon except it’s required to hold a memory to get type changes and its utility is sorta weird… overall I can see this mon being used a fair bit more but saying how good it will be is a challenge considering how overall weird this mon is in general…. game freak honestly tried to make this thing good but… idk.

Bewear, Togedemaru, and Pallosand all received buffs that make them quite a bit stronger but they’re all rather obvious for why they help the mon. Additionally, the actual impact they have isn’t that large and its plausible that they may not even leave their current tiers

  2. So I’m having an anime moment and I’m having trouble deciding if I even want Dusk Form Lycanroc…

I mean it’s technically new but deep down I realized that Midnight a is the one I relate with more than any other form

And if it learns Fire Punch I can see it cackling as it swings its fiery paws left and right even combining Fire Punch with Stone Edge to create flaming spires

      • Sadly no….The second game out the bunch is reserved for Ground monos which…wasn’t really fun….only had like Mudbray starter Dugtrio, Sandygast and whatever I didn’t use

So I dunno, I have plenty of Steadfast Rockruffs in fast balls and would be no trouble to send it over

    • Lemme change your mind as of now
It’s barely new. It’s a midday with tough claws and a 2 stat point difference. It’s literally the same as Midday
      Don’t even bother

    • Dusk is basically Midday with Counter and Tough Claws, but i’m still gonna use it because i love it in terms of aesthetics.

    • Dusk is basically Midday but stronger so if you’ve used Midday already you won’t miss much, most of the changes from Midday to Dusk are aesthetic only.

That’s why we needed Dawn ffs

    • Dusk Lycanroc was probably only made for the anime, added to the game late in development hence why its event only but still its more Ashcanroc then anything else

    • Use Midnight if you prefer it. I can breed you one in any ball you like with Sucker Punch, Fire+Thunder Fang and Thrash or Crush Claw if you like.

  3. The trainer battle theme SUCKS compared to SM theme. They remixed it so much that I can barely tell its same theme. It’s awful/10. It’s a shame it went from best trainer battle theme to easily the worst.

  4. I have come back after a short reflection period. I am sorry for any upset and/or annoyance I caused earlier. I would have been back sooner to say this but I had stuff to do. As some of you know I have quite alot of problems, some of which I haven’t shared at all here, that affect how I react to things. Not that this excuses anything I say or do. I know I probably just seem weak and terrible and this was probably the shortest ‘leaving’ ever but I felt worse not coming here to apologise for earlier. Thanks to those who asked me to stay, I am annoyed at myself because I somewhat dramatised the situation which was never my intention. I hope we can all move forward from here.

  5. I have a question for you guys. I’m compiling a list for top 10 favorites of Each type, and I want to include Both Alola and regular Dugtrio for ground. there is an obvious difference between them (I like ALola dugtrio more) would you have them be two seperate spots/ or would they share a spot. Same with pokemon in the same evolution line. Would they be seperate spots or would like average the likeableness in both? Does this make sense?

Mimikyu is available in both versions, whilst Wishiwashi isn’t included because it uses the regular sized model for its species in both forms during the Totem fight.

  7. Just wanna say I loved the post kyogre/groudon scenes. The peaceful ending around hoenn where it shows different places and people celebrating their survival the end of heavy kyogre storms.
Wonderful touch from GF..xD Love these games.

  8. …These are before gamers get their hands on it isn’t it? [Remembering that we are 2 days to release date.]

I’ve got a hate hammer for gen 7 and I’ve been ready for what can be a failure of this generation by being the 3rd game that came out in under a year. (And unlike the other two that have came out in under a year, this one is in a good generation and will declare gen 7 the worst gen near gen 1 if it really goes fowl.)

  9. Know what’s pathetic?
If GF were to make their games have three third versions, have only 50 new mons, and minamal effort but the post game had a battle frontier
A large portion of the community would be statisfied
    Satisfied
    THATS whats sad

    • Well I would praise it for that, but I also tend to look at pokemon games in parts. So if everything else about the game was bad, I’d point it out. I also would be kinda angry if there were only 50 pokemon :I I want another big generation.

      • Well because pokemon has turned heavily toward competitive battling basically as a replacement for post game content. In gen 3, when the Battle Frontier was introduced, there was only link cable battling between players so the BF was all there was to do post game. But now that we’ve all got wifi, and competitive battling is so accessible, simply battling one another isn’t enough for a lot of us. It gets stale after a while.

Think of it like a multiplayer game with little to no local matchmaking. We need something to substitute offline battling. Yeah, we’ve got the battle tree and the agency now, but it’s still less offline battling content than 13 years ago.

I don’t know if I explained that well, but those are my thoughts. Online battling isn’t really content. We need more offline stuff (though online battle THROUGH the battle frontier would be cool too)

    • I think something that fans long for, especially those who do not care for competitive play or shiny hunting, is something to keep them going after the main story.
I’m not gonna lie, I LOVE Pokemon, but after spending a couple of weeks with Pokemon Moon, it rested on my shelf for about 11 months until a couple days ago when I decided to revisit it. For me, personally, I don’t enjoy shiny hunting or competitive battling, so I guess you could call me a “casual” player. I just wish that I had more of an incentive to keep playing. In this game, I guess it will be catching all of the legends and Ultra Beasts, which is a slight improvement from SM, but what’s after that? Maybe I have to adjust my playstyle to enjoy these titles more, I don’t know.

          • I mean it could be revamped. I don’t think it’s a must, but it’s cool seeing returning characters. I would settling for just being able to battle that regions gym leaders over again whenever

          • Unpopular Opinion below:

I wish it was a sequel not an alternate dimension or whatever they are calling it. Sun and Moon were boring to me. I enjoyed the story aspect sure but leading to it wasn’t good. I didn’t like trials, some of the good Pokémon in alola didn’t get evolutions, one of my favorites had a freakin ability that ditches battle when below 50% which made sense for Wimpod but not Golisopod. Z moves ruined everything, etc.

          • Honey, that ain’t an unpopular opinion! I agree with you 1000%! I probably wouldn’t say they were boring, but like a lot of pokemon games, the plot could’ve used polishing.

  11. I think if the Battle Frontier was more like how it was in the anime where you’d travel the region over again and don’t have to challenge 80 trainers in a row without losing I’d be more inclined to like it. Also maybe if they added more incentives to doing it. Like special items that only the best of the best should be allowed to have or something….idk

    • I really enjoyed the battle dome which was only found in Hoenn’s BF. It reminded me of the anime tourney style league championships.
It was quite challenging as well and fun.
The others were ok, the battle arena was a cool concept. Pik and Pyramid were good too.
The feeling of having the gold symbols ahh.
It was challenging so every victory felt goood
