RUMOR: More Alolan Forms from Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

DISCLAIMER: Rumors are not confirmed information, should not be thought of to be confirmed information and should not be shared as confirmed information. These are for discussion purposes.

We shared a rumor with you that Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon may be getting additional Alolan Forms of older Pokémon in a previous post, but now we’re going to share a little bit more. Please be aware that some may find this a form of spoiler so you are advised not to read further, even though we are posting this as an unsubstantiated rumor totally outside the scope of official information.

The reason that we are posting this to append the previous rumor is because of the confirmation we got about Rainbow Rocket’s takeover of Aether Paradise (which could be seen on the Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon download card). A Chinese fan sent us some of this information which also seemed to line up with other things we had heard from separate sources.

  • Alolan Oddish, Alolan Gloom and Alolan Vileplume will all have Poison/Fairy-typing
  • Alolan Parasect will be Bug/Ghost (the rumor did not mention Paras so I will not infer anything there)

I am taking this with as much salt as you should, but I’m definitely hopeful because there seems to be a lot of potential for all the Pokémon named in the rumor and it would be great to see these unique typings as well (Shedinja aside)!

  1. So let’s say the mystery Pokemon is gen 8. that basically means Pokemon Switch is coming out next year.If it’s not a gen 8 Pokemon then we still get a new Pokemon.I think either way we’ll being getting a win win situation

      • Not if I don’t wanna buy a Switch.

I mean, I still would anyway, but I’d complain about it. Switch games are $20 more expensive than 3DS games here in the US.

          • Maybe if you already *have* a Switch.

Okay, but if a Switch cost $100 more than a brand-new New 3DS XL, and I want to get both games, that’s $140 MORE than I’d pay otherwise. Not to mention I already have a couple of 2DS, and I could get a brand new one of those (with Mario Kart 8 preinstalled) for $80.

          • Well the hope is that they stop with two versions. I don’t think that format would translate well on the Switch. And yes, it is nice if you already have a switch, but I got mine by saving up money and also selling my Wii U for it. It’s still cheaper than the other consoles.

As for it being expensive for families, that’s true, but that’s just the price of gaming. It’s never been a cheap hobby, even through the 2DS. 2DS are like $90-$100 give or take (if you’re not getting a 2DS XL, and most kids I know have a 3DS and do not want the 2DS model in the slightest), plus $40, so that’s around $140 for one child for just one game. Yeah, it’s still like half the price, but I’m sure Nintendo is aware of that and I’m sure they’re probably working on alternatives. Anyway you spin it, I think this is a good move for the franchise. Creativity should not be held back by the limited power of the 3DS just so it’s more affordable for kids. It has to be allowed to grow and evolve.

          • Do we truly play Pokemon for the creativity? Truly? It’s been the same game for about 20 years. It just looks prettier and prettier, and some of the game mechanics have improved (battling system, internet connectivity).

I’d *say* this might hurt their bottom line, but with Pokemon, anything is like printing money, so whatever.

I still don’t like it, and talking about it is starting to make me mad. So I’m going to stop for now.

They’ll probably release some sort of Switch mini or something before then.

      • Wut…..that’s wrong…..Magearna wasn’t revealed until February 2016. The merch may have been hinted at via a “?”, but the actual merch was never fully revealed until Megearna was officially shown in February

      • It’s great. Not my fav show, but I love it. The first season really made me like the protagonists, it was exciting, cool and pretty funny at moments. Its a really good, interesting and worth watching show. The second season is alright, but I only watched few episodes to this moment. I don’t want to spoil the plot, I will say that it gets somewhat horror-like at moments, but not too much. I’m not a horror guy myself and it wasn’t that bad. My recomendation for you is to watch few episodes (3 to 5) you’ll either love it or really not. Then you’ll decide if you want to watch it all.

  2. I’m totally all for this, I’d love more Alolan Forms! The more, the better, I say! 😀 And these sound great! Poison/Fairy sounds really interesting for the Oddish line, and I love Parasect, other than it’s Bug/Grass typing, so a Bug/Ghost typing sounds awesome to me! I hope these are true, though I’d say that they’re probably false. But, then again, USUM is the first games to add new Pokemon between games like this so we never know. 🙂
