RUMOR: New Alolan Forms in Ultra Sun & Moon + More!

With less than four weeks until the official release of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, the rumor mill has been cranking out some interesting information as of late. While I don’t normally cover rumors that appear on 4chan because of the inability to verify anything about them, today’s bit of hearsay is allegedly (that means NOT CONFIRMED, as with everything in a RUMOR post) from the Chinese Riddler who leaked quite a bit of accurate—if not obtuse—information about Pokémon Sun & Moon.

You may have noticed that the ‘Riddler’ has been mostly inactive, but they have apparently been warned by company officials not to disclose information and have only revealed things via personal accounts to close friends.

There’s no way to verify that these conclusively came from them because they were, apparently, quickly deleted, but Chinese social media has been buzzing about the English translation that was posted on 4chan.

  • A “returning” Team will take over the Aether Paradise and steal Lillie’s Cosmog/Cosmoem
  • In order to secure the building more executives and team members will be brought in (possibly from another dimension) as you progress
  • Molayne, a former Trial Captain and engineer of Alola’s PC network, will join the Elite 4
  • A new building similar to the past Battle Frontier will be available and will incorporate renting you friends’ teams, possibly similar to current QR system
  • Generation I Grass/Poison-type Pokémon will get a new Alolan Form; this is suspected to be Oddish

    Alloyma (decided to go with Fairy’s idea)
    Steel/Normal
    The Metal Wool Pokemon
    Diffrent kinds of ores, mainly steel, are added to their food in small amounts. Farmers shave them to get valuable Steel Wool. They can spit metal.

    Signature ability (it can have either Tangling Hair or this):
    Soft Steel
    Their defence is risen by two stages, but it gets burned after being hit by any Fire or Electric type attack.

  4. Looking back at the riddler’s Sun and Moon puzzles they’re even worse than I remember lmao. How is a bust of Aristotle related to Necrozma and/or ultra beasts?

  10. Played through the story in Sun a few days back (’bout to become Champ, level-grinding)

    So the other day I was harping about Mohn in SunMoon and “what did Lusamine want with the Ultra Beasts?” etc. and I finally came to this conclusion: she is just batcrap insane.

    She doesn’t want to save / destroy / rule the world, she just wants to live in a wormhole with a bunch of creepy space jellyfish.

    Hell, maybe Mohn left her on purpose. Lillie and Gladion did, cuz she is psychotic and heavily implied to be abusive. And she froze her pokemon in blocks of ice. (one of the creepiest scenes)

    The Aether Foundation itself wasn’t doing anything wrong; Lusamine and a small circle of researchers were doing the wormhole stuff. I read the files about Type:Null and it looks like Faba did that project himself, knowing Lusamine is a psycho but not being able to stop her from getting to the UBs. He made his own thing to stop them if necessary.

    So the UBs attacking earth were just a side effect of an insane woman’s desire to live with space jellyfish.

      LITERALLY there was ZERO reason to care

      If they stopped the invasion, they could have left Lusamine to die without consequence

      • I think we’re supposed to care because the player is Lillie’s friend, someone she looks up to. Lillie goes back to face her abusive mother instead of running away forever. The also give her a chance to (possibly) atone for her actions. Plumeria says this:

        “Bring Guzma back, if you can. I know you’ve got no reason to help… but no one can make up for what they’ve done if they’re gone.”

        The player helps because they’re a good person, and doesn’t just leave a friend’s mom to die. Lillie says:

        “My mother disappeared into the beast’s world… I know that she was a terrible person, but she is still my mother. I need to see her again, to tell her something.”

        In the end, she has a slim chance of recovery and probably won’t be allowed to run the company anymore.

          It just felt weird because it makes her feel like such a small scale compared to everything else. There was barely anything at stake

          • That reminds me of the Conan The Barbarian movie that came out a few years back: Conan saves the world, but only because the guy who was going to take it over was the one who killed his father.

            Otherwise, Conan wouldn’t have cared.

            I guess SunMoon is more of a hero’s journey story of Lillie.

    • To understand Lusamine’s character we’ll have to speculate a bit about what happened when Mohn died… Lusamine was devastated after Mohn died and she wanted to KILL all Ultra Beasts. Nihilego is different… her relationship with UB Symbiont is perfect because it represents the control she could never have as a mother over her children. This control itself, however was a consequence of losing her husband. There is speculation that the first Ultra Wormhole incident Lusamine got a taste of Nihilego’s toxins and hence she actually invested her efforts in the wormhole project just so she could get a doze of the toxin again. Nihilego has no self of its own and merely inflates that of it’s host organism. Hence Lusamine’s feelings about losing her husband were MAGNIFIED causing her to obviously go batshit crazy, yet the crazy amount of power and control she felt with nihilego inflating her ego also felt good in a way and so she abandoned all reality to feel that again.

        • I mean of course, it clearly states that it only magnifies what is already there, so she must have psychotic tendencies. But I think a lot of people that end up living normal lives might have psychotic tendencies that go un-triggered.

          • Yeah, and having access to cutting-edge scientific research and millions of dollars makes it different than say, lighting a house on fire.

    • Which is why I find this news odd… how on earth can they redesign friggin BELLOSOM to be more ALOLAN. Bellosom was Alolan form before it was cool.

        Tropius either, but we know he’s going to be in the USUM pokedex.

    • lol sure but oddish itself would have to get an alolan form. also Bellossom has only grass typing so it wouldnt refer to it. Basically I think oddish will get an alolan form and so will vileplume. Bellossom wont

    • Oddish only appear in night time in GS ….so this could mean something so it could be part of dark type …..remember GF never forget.

      • lol i just havent gotten around to it. i got it as a gift. I personally wasnt happy with sun and moon. i feel like x and y really got me into competitive and then sun and moon turned me off of it. I like that USUM seems to be expanding on the story. I just hope that the switch pokemon game does to Z moves what sun and moon did to Megas

Honestly skeptical, i don’t think that if it was oddish, they would leave out bellossom, as some commenters were implying. it might be just vileplume, but i’m not sure i like that either. if these rumors are true, i’d rather the whole line get alolan forms, incl bellossom. when i first saw these rumors, i got a cool idea in my head about plants that need to catch fire to survive; like to rejuvenate their roots (oddish is a root, right?) or spread their seeds. so like an oddish but the leaves on its head are dry, and end result is like a grass/fire vileplume? idk where that leaves bellosom though. either way, i hope bellossom gets a new form. way one of my fave pokemon.
