New Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Trailer Reveals New Ultra Beast

Following on the heels of today’s earlier trailer released on television in Japan, more information has been revealed in a new English trailer.

Details

  • Player will be able to traverse an Ultra Wormhole on the back of Solgaleo or Lunala in a mini-game of sorts
  • You’ll be able to battle Ultra Beasts at their home dimension/space by traveling through the Ultra Space
  • Ultra Megalopolis (pictured right), can be reached by traveling through the Ultra Space and has had all of its light stolen by Necrozma
  • New characters are part of the Ultra Recon Squad and have had their names revealed as Dulse, Zossie, Phyco and Soliera – the latter two will have major roles in Ultra Moon, while the former two are more prominent in Ultra Sun
  • Player is seen battling members of the Squad
  • A new Ultra Beast, UB: Adhesive (Poison Pin Pokémon), has been discovered. It’s a Poison-type with the ability Beast Boost
  • UB: Burst (Fireworks Pokémon) is Fire/Ghost-type and knows a new move “Mind Blown” which causes it to lose half its maximum HP
  • UB: Assembly (Rampart Pokémon) is Rock/Steel-type

  1. Just got out of my classes and wow! Did not expect to see a new Pokémon introduced in the English trailer. In terms of third versions, these games already exceed other games in terms of new Pokémon forms being added (I mean we are getting new Pokémon mid-gen), the number of areas (assuming that we can revisit Ultra spaces that we have already went to), and story (what they have shown us makes it seem these games will be a refreshing experience even though they are not sequels). Now the only thing that nay-sayers of the game can really gripe about is the battle facility. I am already hooked for the game and I am really hoping for Alola Forms, but it seems like they are going the route of adding more Ultra Beasts. (Alola forms of Johto Pokémon would just be icing on the cake for me). Finally, I am in love with Soliera’s battle pose!

  2. okay so now I’m excited!!! I hope we could Catch some of these UB early in the game, I actually really like adhesive and in thinking about having some UBS in my playthrough.

    • My only problem with that is how OP they would be. I also worry that if we are fighting Adhesive early on then it will be weak.

        • I would like to use Adhesive at some point but as UBs have a BST of a Legendary I think it’d make things too easy. It’s an odd one since we’ll have to actually beat the Recon Team who use it.

          • I’m tryna come up with a team but I can’t think of any 3 stage fire pokemon to replace my starter.

            So far it’s
            1. unknown starter
            2. Hidden ability oshawott
            3.dusk lycanroc
4.Level 50 nebby, it’ll be worth it in the end
            5.hopefully a ub
            6. suggestions on a dragon type?

          • Well there’s Magby and Fletchliing, they should still be available early.
Dragon you have Kommo-O, Goodra, Salamence maybe others.

          • played through with all those dragons already and i wanted tl do magby but trade evolutions arent best for my playthrough. hmmmm

          • Depends if you are OK getting it late, that is if it is late, but yeah Chandelure is good. I think both Turtonator and Drampa are OK, you can also use Alola Exeggutor. Hydreigon would be good but evolves very late.

  3. People took them saying “USUM will be a retelling of sun and moon with differences” too literally and thought it would be the exact same outside of 1 or 2 instances then went on to say its just a cash grabber with nothing new. Now we’re closer to the release and the game is much more than just a simple retelling. This is why people need to be patient before they decide whether a product is a waste of money or not. I had faith and it looks like gamefreak is gonna pull through.

  4. Do you guys think that the exploration of Ultra Space and the natural environment of UBs will be extremely linear like Soar and the method to get legendaries in ORAS?

  5. An English trailer being better than the Japanese one? Unheard of. And this UB came out of nowhere there is literally no place for it in the Pokedex. And Ultra Space is actually a huge varied place now. And we finally know who the mysterious characters are. And they are using the new Adhesive UB to battle you? Hrm… And that weird Necrozma city is actually a real city. This trailer was amazing these games are gonna be awesome.

    • I think the Japanese trailer was better in that it evoked more emotion and felt more ‘epic’, but this one did reveal much more information.

    • Could just be that it’s a different ‘kind’ of Ultra Beast to the other nine we’ve seen before (just like the Cosmog line and Necrozma are extremely different to the other UBs) and that’s why it’s not beside them in the Pokédex

        • They don’t follow the order of the Ultra Beasts is what I kinda mean

Also, I was meaning the seven from SuMo + Burst and Assembly

          Reply
          • Yeah I made an edit you are right about the number. And eh they kind of do other than now Adhesive. In the edit I also came up with a theory as to why it would be in a different spot.

        • I think it might just be because it’s a ‘common’ Ultra Beast and not a legendary or super strong like the other ones but man made would be really cool too

  7. Ngl, whilst Assembly’s type is bad its probably the most sensible one for it, especially since they’re the two ‘hardest’ types.

Also love the little bit about it being a collection of life forms and not just one thing, that’s actually really cool

  8. Weird thing: in SuMo, Aether very recently developed the Beast Ball, but in USUM, the Ultra Recon guys have one for their Adhesives

  9. Last thing before I go out: name prediction for Adhesive

    > Noxtic

‘Noxious’ and ‘toxic’, but also ‘stick’ (‘xtic’)

  10. This is kinda funny
A few years ago I was a humongous spore nerd always creating creatures and my biggest series where called Xyronauts, which were alien
I made grunts, soilders, sentries, spawns, plants you name it
And one was called a Xyrohound which was a reptilian dog thingy with a gel launcher on its tail, it was extremely sticky and had a paralyzing venom

What if Sticky’s Venomous pins can dissolve into a puddle of poisonous gel that binds prey them and weakens them so it can feed on them but then brings up the question what do ultra beasts feed on in their own dimension?

I mean even extradimensional beings need some type of energy

    Reply
    • We know Buzzwole and Burst feast on life energy (although that seems to be blood VS soul), and that Guzzlord eats anything, so it’s obvious they all eat something

Your theory for adhesive sounds cohesive

      Reply
      • Yeah I’m just thinking about prior to entering our world
I mean clearly there are multiple Ultra a Beasts of a variety I can just see a brutal death match between a pair of Buzzwole fighting eachother trying to absorb the others energy, but others like Celesteela and Xurkitree gain nutrients from the planet’s surface via plant energy and telekinetic currents
But thinks like Pheramosa and Kartana must eat something

But i just want to study that world so badly, I want to view the environment and ecosystem to see how these things thrive when not being forced into our world

  11. Okay, actual last bit before I finally leave

Its cool that four different UBs (Solgaleo, Cele, Kart and Assembly) are Steel type. Makes them feel a bit more unnatural because steel itself is unnatural (it’s an alloy) and metals themselves rarely exist in a pure form in nature
