Pokkén Tournament DX, Pokémon Gold & Silver Out Now!

Today’s the day, two (three, really) “new” Pokémon games are now available worldwide!

To tide us over until Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon are released, Pokkén Tournament DX is now playable on the Nintendo Switch, and Pokémon Gold & Silver have been re-released on the 3DS/2DS’ Virtual Console! Both are available for purchase digitally on the Nintendo eShop, and physically in stores across the globe (Gold & Silver physical versions only available in Europe and Japan).

Those who purchase Pokémon Gold & Silver anytime between now and September 21st, 2018 will receive a serial code to obtain the Mythical Pokémon Celebi in your Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon games. In addition, by downloading the games before January 15th in North America (December 31st, 2017 in Europe or September 28th, 2018 in Japan) you’ll also receive a free 3DS theme featuring Lugia or Ho-Oh depending on which version you purchased. If you purchase the download code from either Best Buy, Amazon or GameStop you’ll also receive this gorgeous theme featuring the important characters of Gold & Silver!

Check out their trailers below:

Which games will you be picking up? Pokkén Tournament DX to get your Pokémon fix on the Switch? Pokémon Gold & Silver for the nostalgia? Or both?

  1. Literally half of the NPCs say that they have good Pokémon, and then Jigglypuff one shots them. These games taught me that lying is okay.

  2. I can already tell with the photo booth and surfing this game is gonna have better mini games than most Pokemon games. Dare I even say all. Good game/ 10
But it is never put it past Nintendo to use a good concept and make it bad. Crossing my fingers

  3. I think a certain boss in Samus Returns is one of my favorite bosses now… if you’ve played it you probably know the one

That crazy drill robot thing. As soon as I saw it pop up I just kept thinking WHEN CAN I KILL THIS THING??? Then when it chases you it’s awesome and crazy. And then the actual boss fight is super brutal until you learn the attacks. Super freaking cool

  4. The surf minigame is insanely cool, reminds me of Soaring from ORAS. Nice to see that Mina has a trial, but I guess that means no hope for Gyms. Interesting to note that in the battle against her she only has 3 Pokemon, so anyone hoping for a difficulty curve will sadly be let down.

  6. I’m about to wipe Moon so I can get all of the ash pikachu, is there anything item wise that I should trade over to Sun before I do? I already traded the lucky egg. Should I bother with the apricorn balls? Something tells me they’ll be way more common in USUM if Gamefreak has any sense at all

  8. The new info is pretty neat. Since I wasn’t expecting anything, no way to be disappointed. Overall nothing special, but the mantine ride is pretty cool, especially since now you can actually visit Alolan seas.

  9. Ok so I’m probably the only one here who was super into the Lego Ninjago show in Cartoon Network as I was actually kinda excited about the movie but god… what a disappointment

Barely used the source material, lack of visual comedy, predictable characters, bland writing, and just… hell, the environments aren’t even made of legos anymore. Ya know how I’m the Lego movie in the very first scene you see that lava made of legos? Yeah. None of that here.

They even reuse shots. A lot. It’s lazy.
You have a giagantic budget and you reuse shots?

    Just… it’s so frustrating.

  10. Welp, I didn’t get to play Silver that much today but I am happy with my progress. So far. I should have more time on Saturday. But if Earthen’s experience is an indication of the difficulty of getting a Heracross, then I will be spending a lot of time trying to get one.

  11. Need a final team member for my Pokemon Silver playthrough and I need opinions. My team as it will be is Typhlosion, Crobat, Quagsire, Heracross (which I got on my first headbutt tree which surprised me) and Umbreon)
    The choice is either:
    Miltank – Body Slam/Rollout/Fire Punch/Milk Drink
    or
    Girafarig – Stomp/Psybeam (Psychic’s for Umbreon)/Crunch/Iron Tail
