Pokkén Tournament DX, Pokémon Gold & Silver Out Now!

Today’s the day, two (three, really) “new” Pokémon games are now available worldwide!

To tide us over until Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon are released, Pokkén Tournament DX is now playable on the Nintendo Switch, and Pokémon Gold & Silver have been re-released on the 3DS/2DS’ Virtual Console! Both are available for purchase digitally on the Nintendo eShop, and physically in stores across the globe (Gold & Silver physical versions only available in Europe and Japan).

Those who purchase Pokémon Gold & Silver anytime between now and September 21st, 2018 will receive a serial code to obtain the Mythical Pokémon Celebi in your Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon games. In addition, by downloading the games before January 15th in North America (December 31st, 2017 in Europe or September 28th, 2018 in Japan) you’ll also receive a free 3DS theme featuring Lugia or Ho-Oh depending on which version you purchased. If you purchase the download code from either Best Buy, Amazon or GameStop you’ll also receive this gorgeous theme featuring the important characters of Gold & Silver!

Check out their trailers below:

Which games will you be picking up? Pokkén Tournament DX to get your Pokémon fix on the Switch? Pokémon Gold & Silver for the nostalgia? Or both?

  1. Today has been a busy day. A trailer, Kingsman, unexpected yardwork, now I’m on a 3 hour drive to visit my sibling at their college. I’ll finally be able to start my Silver Run. Go Cyndaquil!

    • “All headbuttable trees contain wild Pokémon, but different trees have different chances of creating an encounter after Headbutt is used. The headbuttable trees in an area also generate their encounters from different sets of Pokémon depending on whether they have moderate encounter chances or low encounter chances. For example, on Route 44, trees with moderate encounter chances may only contain Spearow or Aipom, while trees with a low encounter chance may also contain Heracross.”

  3. For some reason Disqus logs me out every time I refresh the page and doesn’t let me upload photos (either ”you must be logged in to upload pictures” (I’m logged in) or „make sure the picture is…” (I uploaded photos before and nothing went wrong) ). I’m on my phone. Any help, please?!

          • That’s why I didn’t play lol. I’m only at the first palace, I actually don’t know how hard this game will be. I always feared fucking up the calendar and getting stuck but I don’t know how hard that is.

          • Persona games are kinda hard. You don’t need to worry about that since the only real way to get a Game Over (besides you dying) is to wait for the deadline to expire. Just get through the Palace, take the Treasure, and enjoy the free time you have after (Level up Confidants)

          • But how do I know if I’m spending my free time wrong? Like when should you do palaces and when should you do other stuff?

          • I say do them as soon as you can. Try to clear them in a few days (The least amount for most being 3 days). Then, when you have the Palace beat, spend the rest of the time you have left to do whatever while you await the change of heart. I’m not very good at explaining stuff, so sorry if this doesn’t help

  6. I got the Gold theme running on my 3DS and it’s REALLY cool. I don’t see myself changing this for a long while. Ho-oh Bros. unite.

  7. I’m trying to get multiple ash hat pikachu. So if I get one with my sun game and put it into pokebank would I be able to start a new game and get multiple pikachus?

  8. I still don’t know how to feel about this mantine minigame. It just doesn’t feel like pokemon? Idk what that means but it seems wrong, but also cool, but also completely ridiculous.

    • Its amazing and as of now almost everyone except you has took a very very positive reaction to it like people are genuinely hyped about it.

      – its aesthetically pleasing
      – a fun replayable side game
      – can travel between islands opens up so many more opportunities
      – its very alolan/Hawaiian like
      – its bloody amazing

      • It’s cool, just weird? Like the trainer just flips off the mantine and lands back on it with no training. I *won’t* have a problem with it as long as they add more content to the game that should actually be there, like a replacement for the awful battle tree.

I didn’t see that it allows for travel between the islands. That’s nice, but it’d be nice if we did have to ride the wave and could explore more.
