Pokkén Tournament DX, Pokémon Gold & Silver Out Now!

Today’s the day, two (three, really) “new” Pokémon games are now available worldwide!

To tide us over until Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon are released, Pokkén Tournament DX is now playable on the Nintendo Switch, and Pokémon Gold & Silver have been re-released on the 3DS/2DS’ Virtual Console! Both are available for purchase digitally on the Nintendo eShop, and physically in stores across the globe (Gold & Silver physical versions only available in Europe and Japan).

Those who purchase Pokémon Gold & Silver anytime between now and September 21st, 2018 will receive a serial code to obtain the Mythical Pokémon Celebi in your Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon games. In addition, by downloading the games before January 15th in North America (December 31st, 2017 in Europe or September 28th, 2018 in Japan) you’ll also receive a free 3DS theme featuring Lugia or Ho-Oh depending on which version you purchased. If you purchase the download code from either Best Buy, Amazon or GameStop you’ll also receive this gorgeous theme featuring the important characters of Gold & Silver!

Check out their trailers below:

Which games will you be picking up? Pokkén Tournament DX to get your Pokémon fix on the Switch? Pokémon Gold & Silver for the nostalgia? Or both?

  1. I may get it at a later date. Gonna beat the HG play through I have going first. Might hold off until next actually as I’m going on vacation to the same place I beat Silver the first time I ever played it and it’d be cool to do it there again. It’d be a nice nostalgia thing for me

  2. Sorry, but the USUM news outshines this.
Pokken looks fun though, but I wont get it.
Why play gen 2 when I can play HGSS?

Im sorry this is offtopic but:
Im ready for the photo club thing in USUM, Im definitely really hyping for it! Im gonna take a picture with all my pokemon, and shinies after each trial. I wonder how it will be.
Can we only save a certain number of pictures? Is so, can it not be really limited!
Can we PLEASE have them saveable in game and not on the 3ds system, where you can access them in the PC?
Can we send pictures to our friends?
Can we make Albums? I wanna make an album for each island.
Is there gonna be unlockable stuff. Like you cant do Flynium Z pose until you get the Z move/ Certain background have to wait until later.
Im seriously so hyped for this.
And the Mantine Swim thing just looks so fun. I complained SM didnt have anything for non battlers to do, they are fixing that really quick!
The new clothes look pretty great.
Mina Trial seems interesting since the character (the new name is Ray which is actually a good name) is just in one of the houses.
Totem Marowak increases speed. Hopefully it has thick club.
They sure do love MAreep line. Definitely gonna be on second island.
Heracross is a nice addition. I feel like they are gonna be adding all the mega pokemon into this game
    Tyranitar-awesome addition!
Houdour and Electrike are both very cool additions! Fueling my mega speculation
They have Tropius in literally every pokemon game except FRLG and SM. They LOVE Tropius.
Zorua is pretty decent still weird to catch it in the wild
Volcarona is AWESOME hopefully laversta and Larvitar can be found early (Volcarona should have been a pseudo)
Sorry for the huge wall nobody will read, but Im really hyped for these games, however, I dont think Johto Alola forms are happening. Just nothing points to it happening

  3. I found this on the website: “As you explore Alola in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, you’ll meet Pokémon new to the region that didn’t appear in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. You’ll see some familiar faces, too.” SOME familiar faces, TOO? Just some? This means there will be more then 5 new pokemon?

  4. I am excited to do some shiny hunting in Gold (or Silver) at some point! I’ve never actually found a shiny in those games so this is the perfect chance to try. I have to say though, I’m also very excited for Ruby and Sapphire to be released on the Virtual Console (which may not be on the 3DS at all…)

  5. Just finished watching Kingsman: The Golden Circle. It was deserved more than its RottenTomato rating, but it was not as good as the first movie. Now I am going to head home to begin my Silver run. For those who have already started, are you having a great time despite the game being a couple years under being 2 decades old.

  6. Also I am perplexed about how trading works for the VC games, do you have to be in the same room as the other person in order to trade? We can’t do it through Wi-Fi?

  7. As I am new to the VC business, it says that there are no restor points in the game. Am I still able to save normally like any other Pokémon games, or are there implications of the lack of this feature that would affect this?

  8. I’m just starting my playthrough of Silver version and I’d by lying on how excited I am to start my journey through Jhoto again. I’m really tempted to get a shiny totodile but that may be a really big task since the chances are really low. I can try at best.

On a late note, I still can’t wait until USUM comes out, who knew that you can surf on a mantine and all the pokemon that never showed up in SM. I can really be more diverse with my team. The main problem with my Moon team is that Rock types give me trouble so here’s hoping I can choose better pokemon to cover weaknesses

  9. Who cares! I know that it’s a little late, but that USUM trailer blew my F*CKING MIND

Atm Mantine ride is the #1 thing I have ever seen in a Pokémon game to get me soooooo hyped!!!!!

Sad now I can’t use Houndoom because Incinroar overlaps it completely, but I was right! Tropius did come to Alola

This trailer made my day and possibly weekend!
