Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon are drawing closer to release and a new trailer has been posted to the official Japanese YouTube channel. It shows more of Mantine Riding, which even includes a surfing mini-game it appears! (We have added the English trailer, but you can still watch the Japanese one here) Also don’t forget that Dusk Mane Necrozma & Dawn Wings Necrozma had their types revealed earlier!
Minor details are also included, such as Mina retaining her spot as the 7th Trial Captain and also that Alolan Marowak will be a Totem Pokémon. It also shows more of the previously revealed Photo Club which will allow you to customize shots with different poses and backgrounds.
UPDATE: Official site also adds that over 400 Pokémon can be found in the Alola Region in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. It also listed a few exclusive Pokémon
- Ultra Sun: Houndour, Houndoom, Alolan Vulpix, Alolan Ninetales
- Ultra Moon: Electrike, Manectric, Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Sandslash
In addition, a multitude of Pokémon not originally found in Alola are also shown off in battle!

Damn that surfing thing is nice and this trailer is at least a lot better than the ones before but… they didn’t show any useful information about the games themselves, again?

Spoil the plot of a game we already know almost all the plot of? Because this is looking more like a slightly updated version.
They could show hints at new regions, battle frontier, new stuff, I don’t know. It just feels like they didn’t add a lot for this to warrant two new games. Like the biggest additions are this photo mode, the new surfing minigame, an event exclusive Rockruff, two new Necrozma forms, two new UB and that’s mainly it? At least BW2 were completely new games in the same universe.
Lets just appreciate for a moment how we can now actually surf between the islands!
I’m just wondering if the Mantine surfing is exclusive to the contest. I hope not. I’d like to ride it without it being a contest. Maybe there’s a free surfing section of the water so you can just hang out and catch some sweet curls dude…..lol

Nice! Only disappointed to see some of my favorites didn’t make it as Alolan forms. But then again, they already have mega’s (Mareep, Heracross, Tyranitar, Houndoom). And I don’t think Mega’s can have an Alolan forme.

That’s not how it works. They don’t hide those kinds of assets. If that were the case the everything they would upload would be found. they only post on the site when it’s time to do so.

Interesting Hau has four pokemon here in the battle at Paniola town but in sun and moon he only has two at this point. Do you think we battle him hear at a later point or do you think they’re making him a tougher opponent?

So it looks like Sudowoodo is not getting an Alola form. From the few seconds about trials it seems we are confirmed that there will be a return of the Fire, Ghost, Electric, Grass trials, and that Mina will have her own trial.
That may just mean that Johto Alolan forms won’t happen this gen…

They already added an Alola Forms page to the Pokemon website. I don’t think they would do that unless they were planning on adding more. It would also let them capitalize on the VC GS. I am on the side that believes there will be Johto Alola forms.
They could just give more forms to Alolan mons, there are many left that deserve em. Like Dragonite with Fairy type would be great.

I am really liking the exclusives for Ultra Sun right now. I prefer both the UB and the Houndoom line with their counterpart.
Talking just about the new mons Moon has better ones. Aloslash Looks better than Alotails for me and I love Oranguru. (Tho I prefer Midday to Midnight)
I’d be cool if Maybe in Pokemon Switch we have basic ride pokemon (for example Rapidash), and then if we catch a simmilar mon (for example Zebstrika) we can replace the basic ride mon. So you can choose the mon you ride without HMs.

I don’t know about you guys but this surfing minigame seems a bit dangerous for a kid to perform. 50 feet high jumps? Multiple tricks in succesion? Someone might die from doing this.

Not surprised on the form typing. All three are base Psychic, and it’d be odd to stay pure Psychic when bonding with them.
Mantine surf is the main exciting thing to come from this trailer. Looks like a lot of fun, probably going to be a method to encounter certain pokemon only.
Now to wait for the eventual reveal of new Team Skull, new Aether Foundation, and hopefully other cool secrets. Just a little under two months to go.

I should have suspected they’d use this day for a new trailer! At this point I’m most excited by the more varied Alolan dex, which means more shiny hunting possibilities. I hope there’s still a sliver of a chance that some of those “over 400” Pokémon are brand new, besides the 2 UBs.
Best you can hope for is some Alolan forms but who knows it seems less likely all the time.
