The anime recently ended its weekly airing in Japan and teased the potential evolution of Ash’s Rockruff. There are several things that point towards a new form, or forms, for its evolution Lycanroc. Here’s what we’ve found:
CLUE 1: Evolution takes place at dusk
Based on the latest anime preview, it seems that Rockruff is beginning to evolve at neither day or night, but at dusk. This is played up as the sun straddles the horizon and Rockruff looks into the light as a strange green energy seems to illuminate its eyes. CLUE 2: Mystery products still unrevealed
We’ve posted about mysterious product listings before and there is also a new anime-related plush set to be announced on August 10… the same day next week’s episode will air.

CLUE 3: Pokémon Global Link placeholder image
Another mysterious piece of the puzzle comes from an image off the Pokémon Global Link website which lists Lycanroc as having not 2, but 4 forms. Could there be dawn and dusk forms coming as well? It seems to make sense based off of what the anime is showing us.

Dawn- Will be Green and because of Rockruffs eyes it will become Dawn
Dusk- Either a Dark Blue shade or Violet color, but I wonder who will get Dusk in the Anime?

I think were about due for a new trailer. I think that they should start advertising for USUM relatively soon. If they don’t these games will have a short advertising window.

i’m more concerned with in-game because i just enjoy using Lycanroc (although i like Midnight more than Day nowadays)

In reference to the article. Even though there are two extra placeholder inmates for Lycanrock. I think there will be only one new form of Lycanrock. Back during the speculation phase of SM and the demo leak. There were placeholders after several Pokemon. These placeholder images were after the Totem Pokemon of those games. S the two placeholder images for Lycanrock could be one eco and one Totem. This is a convincing argument for me because there was a cutscenes in the USUM trailer of a Lycanrock that makes it appear like it is a Totem Pokemon in these games. So it might just be that they left that data in SM, kind of like how th Mega Lati twins were in X & Y’s data.

Yea, I was at fault for spreading confusion. It was actually the game data that I was getting it confused with. The placeholders weren’t there for Lycanrock in the game data but I was thinking about the game data in reference to the placeholders for the Totem Pokemon. So I don’t know what to expect.

Do the other totems have places on PGL? I knew they had them in the actual game data, but that’s just because their models were slightly altered.
No idea if they do, but i’m assuming not since the PGL is purely there for player interaction. Totems are NPCs

If we get new Lycanroc forms, I sure do hope they have a good sub type. As much as I love Lycanroc (Mid-Day form being my favorite of the two) I can surely say that they needed some attention, especially Mid-Night (tbh if its main move was fighting, I should have been Rock/Fighting with a bit more buff to its defenses, but thats just me). In all, let’s wait and see what will come (and hope they don’t pull a Bulbasaur on us like Joe was saying lol).
So tomorrow will be the new trailer. Why d I know this? Well I was supposed to have all day tomorrow off, but now I have to work. why is this significant? My luck dictates that when I think I’ll have days off, but then have to work a bunch there’s usually an announcement lol

Anime is pretty dull and uneventful, didn’t expected that. I thought it would be better once they left Melemele but so far its not that much better. Too many fillers
