Pokémon GO Fest Begins! [REWARDS UPD]

Today marks Pokémon GO’s first ever real life event!

REWARDS UPDATE: Despite difficulties at GO Fest, players around the world have completed all the Window Challenges and unlocked legendaries! Lugia will be given out to all GO Fest ticket holders, and Lugia raid battles will start to roll out worldwide over the next two days. Since Team Mystic contributed the most during the challenges, Articuno Raid Battles will start to roll out in the same time frame as well. In addition to the legendary birds, the following GO Fest bonuses will be active around the globe for the next 48 hours:

  • Double Stardust
  • Double Candy
  • Double XP
  • Increased Pokémon encounters
  • Reduced hatching distance
  • Reduced buddy distance

Located in Grant Park on the coast of Chicago, Illinois, Pokémon GO Fest promises plenty of Pokémon fun for ticket holders:

  • Catch a wide variety of Pokémon, including some that have never been seen before in Grant Park (regional exclusives, as well as Unown are strongly hinted at)
  • Unlock the exclusive Pokémon GO Fest Chicago medal for your profile page
  • Take advantage of the Pokémon GO Fest walking course, lined with PokéStops that award special 2 km Eggs which can only be obtained in Grant Park
  • Cool off and recharge in one of the three team lounges, where you’ll meet your fellow Instinct, Mystic, or Valor teammates
  • Commemorate the experience by snapping photos with your favorite Pokémon at the many photo opportunities around the park
  • And much more!

Can’t attend? No worries – you can still take part in the fun! The millions of PoGO players across the globe can work together with the thousands of trainers in the park to complete challenges throughout the day and unlock amazing in-game rewards globally! Earlier this week Niantic revealed that the first ever Legendary Pokémon will be one of these rewards – but it will only appear in Grant Park if trainers around the world successfully meet the capture goals set throughout the weekend. If trainers in Chicago manage to defeat the legendary, it will start appearing in Raid Battles everywhere.

A special Twitch and YouTube livestream (see above) for players that are unable to attend is available to view for the latest news coming out of Pokémon GO Fest! Including Challenge Window updates, exclusive interviews, and the reveal of the first Legendary Pokémon!

Will you be taking part in the global awards and challenges, or are you one of the lucky few who will be attending the festivities in Chicago?

  1. A good ol’ simple fakemon. 11 more and I’ll hit 100 of ’em!

    Waterbeest
    Water/Normal
    The Gnu Pokemon
They travel in packs with Raffebows and Zebstrikas. They can help the whole pack by creating Water they can drink.

    Evolves at level 35 into:

    Wilderbeast
    Water/Normal
    The Big Gnu Pokemon
They can create giant amounts of Water that can save many lives in a drought. They are the natural enemies of Pyroar. They can survive in very high temperatures.

  4. Do you guys ever put effort into getting certain types on your team? I used to always do Grass/Fire/Water trios on my team but I kinda stopped forcing it around the same time I stopped caring about type overlap

Did it in all three starter runs of SuMo tho for nostalgia, twentieth anniversary and all

    • Off topic, but I have a rule for my teams. I plan my team for every first game in a gen (like X) and I catch whatever I want to catch at the moment in every second game in a gen (like Omega Ruby)

    • Well I did for XY and SM. Usually I go with what I like, but up to gen 6 I have used a ghost or a bug type, so I made an effort to use a Ghost type or Bug in Kalos (Gourgeist). In gen 7 I made an effort to use a bug (Vikavolt even though judging on its design, I would have used it without making myself). Other than that I just use what I want. And I cant repeat pokemon my trio use. So if they called a pokemon its off limits

      • Out of my quad (formerly a quintet) we don’t usually care about overlap if it’s a Pokémon we all really want or is really common (examples: Lycanroc and Toucannon) but sometimes people will call members :0

  5. So apparently according to a source Paul Ryan(PokeShopper) has, one of the blank spots on that product listing is gonna be the 3rd form of Lycanroc

    • I don’t know if I’d trust a mobile game which is known for people acting dumb with it would be a good idea with a priceless monument :0

    • Nintendo knew bad lawsuits would happen cause people are dumb as dirt and do stupid sh*t

So they sold the rights to the game so lawsuits can’t touch Nintendo at all, they can only hit Niantic…

Dirty move, but very smart imo

Miltank and Tauros (Make the connection even stronger)
    Furfrou (Give Furfrou some love)
    Hawlucha (Name could be Wrestchling)
    Turtonator (Maybe in USUM)
    Ultra Beasts (Maybe in USUM)

  7. You can retype one Pokémon. What would it be?

I’m stuck between Mismagius (Ghost/Fairy, a banshee’s name means ‘Fairy woman’) or Accelgor (it’s a ninja, and it’d go well with Escalvier being Bug/Steel)

  8. Alright question time
You stumble onto a wayward day-care center and a sickly old bag hands you the last egg
as you you carry it it hatches into any of the Baby pokemon and you raise it you discovered it possessed a egg move
what do you think yours would be?
