Pokkén Tournament Confirmed for World Championships, Switch Version Coming?

The big confirmed news of the day is that Pokkén Tournament will be returning to the Pokémon World Championships 2017. It was noticeably absent from the schedule that was first announced for Worlds, but Japanese sources have confirmed that the fighting game will be returning again this year according to Serebii.

Various tuning tweaks are slated to go live for the arcade version in Japan on Tuesday, but the Wii U version remains noticeably behind. The console version even lacks playable characters that have been available to arcade players for months. Fans will hopefully see an update, but nothing official has been announced.

One interesting prospect raised by presence of Pokkén Tournament at Worlds is the possibility that it will be re-released for the new Nintendo Switch console. With Wii U production officially ended it wouldn’t necessarily make sense to promote a game for a dead console. It seems likely that the title will see a port which may include the features and updates that the Wii U version currently lacks. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for news on the matter!

  1. I have an idea:

So I’m planning to choose regional variant starters, but you guys can vote (by commenting to this) which starters you want to be variants. The choices are: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, or Alola

  2. I don’t recall if I posted this before but

Frenzied: This Pokemon attacks mindlessly, slowly gaining momentum as it attacks with the same technique. After five turns, it becomes fatigued.
(This Pokemon’s attacks get stronger the more times they are used in a row. It gets confused after five turns though..)

  3. So this is what I was thinking for regional variant starters:
    Venusaur (Fairy/???), Charziard (Electric/Flying), Blastoise (Water/Steel)

Meganium (Dragon), Typhlosion (Fire/Rock), Feraligatr (Fighting)

    Sceptile (Ghost/Dark), Blaziken (Fire/Grass), Swampert (???)

    Torterra (Grass/Rock), Infernape (Fighting/Psychic), Empoleon (Steel/???)

    Serperior (Dragon/Water), Emboar (???), Samurott (Ground/Fighting)

    Chesnaught (Dragon/Steel), Delphox (Poison/Psychic), Greninja (Water/Electric)

    Decidueye (Ice/Ghost), Incineroar (Dark/???), Primarina (Grass/Water)

These aren’t the final typing, but they’re ones I might have an idea on

      • Look, I understand sometimes other’s Fakemons or ideas aren’t what you expected, but neither are actual new Pokemon that GF made themselves. I know regional variants don’t appease your eyes, but these aren’t even finished yet, and I tried doing deep thinking into these concepts

        • HOW DEEP 2 INCHES?
none of these are anywhere near logical and sound like ill concieved delusions just to reskin old starters in a new element they don’t even relate to

Why would a plant monster become a fairy, a fire breathing reptile go electric and granted this was only because of the hydro cannons but let me reassure you they are not metal and most likely made of bone

i mean why would a Alligator lose it water typing for fighting and fucking Infernape going grass how does that merit a response

all of these are totally out of line, i mean do they even count as regional variants when they sound like fanboy wishlists

      SERPERIOR
      DECIDUEYE
      GRENINJA

      SCEPTILE!!!
      NEEEEEEEEEEED!!
(Wouldn’t fairy/Dragon fit better for Meganium?)

          • Yeah with Volcanoes and all, it explains a natural regional variant.

As for Infernape, it becomes a Psychic type because it realized that using all of its body to take down new opponents in my region wasn’t enough. They trained mentally, and eventually unlocked the ability to utilize the mind’s hidden psychic power, which made it stronger in Special Attacks, while giving up its Fire type for that

          • You also hate on every single idea that isn’t yours
You avoid simple pieces of logic and complain when things don’t go your way
And when things do go your way, you immediately change your mind and be, as you word it a “Hippocrite”
Which by the way, is spelled “Hypocrite”

          • i avoid logic? that’s the thing i’m demanding
and i’m complaining because you’re using my favorite pokemon as a tactical defense because these are just beyond terrible

if Pinsir can effectively and logically explain these reasons i will humbly apologize

          • Infernape’s always been Psychic/Fighting, Blaziken is the one that’s Fire/Grass

Anyway, gladly. Blastoise because it’s outer shell collected collecting metals underwater that reacted with its physiology. Charizard because it was over hunted for its scales, therefore retreated to the tops of mountains, which overtime the magnetic waves onto of my region’s mountains reacted with Charizards over centuries. Infernape because it utilized the mind more in battle as its natural way of using physical combat proved ineffective. Sceptile is like the whole situation of Raticate, it became nocturnal and utilized the shadows to camoflaugue in. Feraligatr learned that it didn’t really have to use the water anymore to attack prey, since it relied on brute strength more. And the last one I’ll explain is Decidueye, which its feathers became resistant to the cold overtime, and used snowstorms to cloak in so it can attack its prey with icicle arrows out of nowhere.

BTW, Pokemon itself has no boundaries. Not a lot has logic put into it, such as why Solgaleo isn’t Fire but steel, A-Raichu is a Psychic type for some reason, Charizard isn’t a dragon, or even why Nihilego is a Rock type for some reason. It’s just endless possibilities that can be forged from any idea, which is what makes creating Fakemon so great. Maybe I have “out-of-this-world” ideas Earthen, but in the end, don’t we all?

          • you’re still missing some
also charizard do not posses scales nor how could a charizard be hunted they’re the hunters, and magnetism is not electricity

sceptile are masters of the forest and have no need for additional stealth fighting since they’re already camouflaged

Feraligatr is a hard sell i mean they’re still aquatic creatures and they’re plenty strong and use brute force to begin with

ehhh i’ll let Decidueye pass only because owls did adapt to arctic climates

and i should smack you for saying Pokemon has no logic (except A. Raichu they failed on that part) Lions are represented in Alchemy as it devours the sun and where does it state it was a fire type, Charizard fell victim to Gen 1’s Dragon rule only letting Dratini’s line be it and Nihilego body is made of glass/mercury a poisonous mineral

          • Than explain your smogon teams, kay?
Oh it’s just fun to mock, I can use more than that, it’s just that you get ticked off when I do, hence I do it when you annoy me

          • what does my smogon teams have to do with literally anything, you seem to use anything just to give you a leg up in the argument

          • I’m sayin’ this, you can’t complain about people not having logic if you do things yourself without logic

          • No, I’m just saying that cannot complain about logic when you don’t even always make logical choices.
I’m also commenting that you need to spell Hypocrite correctly… it makes your arguments a lot harder to take seriously when you say it

          • 1. I’m not gonna keep on mauling this dead horse, but smogon
            2. Honestly the bigger issue, why is it that you constantly act like a dick to people, and question why people jump on you for it? I mean, it’s simple cause and effect!!? How does it make any sense to keep acting that way to people if you are as lonely as you sound?

          • if you cannot answer the question you don’t got nothing
and i simply dislike bad ideas, i thrive on creative logically sound ideas and it physically hurts to see people never question design choices

          • But why word yourself so harshly? The difference between criticism and douchebaggery is that one is done acting like a piece of shit and the other is done with respect to the person you’re talking to

          • because i am a passionate man of love and fury
i don’t compromise my mind not for myself and surely not for anybody else

          • I see
Tbh, I don’t hate ya, I just get ticked off at ya
(Besides… I deal with my grade…. I can deal with anyone)

  4. @starstorm295:disqus If you were in my fangame, I could 100% see you with this Pokemon

    Pokedex Entry:
    Purimine
    Classification: The Pristine Fur Pokemon
    Height: 5’01
    Weight: 20.3 Lbs
    Type: Ice/Electric
    Ability: Purity Coat/Adaptability
    Stats:
    HP: 70
    Attack: 60
    Defense: 80
    Special attack: 120
    Special Defense: 70
    Speed: 130
    Base Stat Total: 530
Pokedex Entry: It is said that it’s fur can never be stained, no matter how filthy its surroundings may be. Its fur is the most pure shade of white and will never taint. This is due to a thin coating of liquid it secretes that makes any and all uncleanliness roll off of it. Its fur is said to sparkle in the night. The fur it has is valued greatly to poachers and even a small bit of it goes for tremendous prices. This of course is near impossible due to its sleek and quick movements. A domesticated one will wrap around its caretaker like a scarf.

  5. Yo he’s your daily history lesson, because I need to arm you all with knowledge.

ORIGIN OF VALENTINE’S DAY IN THREE SENTENCES

Romans celebrated Lupercalia, a brutal fertility and “love” holiday on Feb. 13-15. Two people named Valentine were martyred on Feb. 14 (two seperate years), and people began to associate the day with them. Shakespeare was the first to merge the ideas of Lupercaia and the Saints’ feast days, which gave way to the modern idea of Valentine’s Day being associated with love.

Nobody asked for this I just wanted to be THAT guy to bring history into everything.

  6. Some honest opinions for the SuMo meta
Mudsdale: Why is this thing used so little?’
Mimikyu: Just please drop to UU…. it’ll be miles more useful there
Kartana: What jackass thought that this thing was okay?
Cresslia: WTF ARE YOU DOING IN BOTTOM TIER!?

  7. What the hell? Like, either I’m extremely unlucky or there’s something nobody has noticed before.
I’m trying to breed a Magic Guard Abra inside a Beast Ball. I’m using a female abra with Magic Guard (inside a dream ball cause it’s from Gen V), and the male is the one inside a beast ball and it has one of its generic abilites.
Supposedly, there’s 50% chance of the baby inheriting either parents’ ball when they’re from the same species (which is the case) and the mother has a 60% chance of passing the hidden ability, Then why the hell do I only get like 1 abra inside a beast ball every 5 eggs and after hatching 4 of those, none had the hidden ability (3 had inner focus, which is the ability of the male abra I’m using, the other has synchronise)?
Could the male passing its poké ball affect the ability inheriting and prevent the hidden ability from being passed down?

    Reply
    • You misinterpreted
Only females pass balls down, you gotta either have a Female in a beast ball or a Male Beast Ball with a ditto to pass it

      Reply
      • No, that was last gen when only females could pass the balls (males couldn’t). In Gen 7, when breeding 2 pokémon of the same species, the baby can hatch in either the mother or the father’s ball. I’m getting abras in both Dream balls and Beast Balls. The problem is I’m not getting as many abras in beast balls as it’s supposed to happen. Also, they’re not hatching with the mother’s hidden ability for whatever reason.

        • You know what? Never mind. It’s the game’s RNG screwing with me. Now I got 5 eggs, 4 of them in Beast Balls, and the first just hatched with Magic Guard. Go figure.

  8. I try to keep my off topicness to a minimal but I would like a moment of silence for one of my best friends.
He actually wasnt very old, but he was the sweetest thing you’ll ever meet. Even though he probably couldnt understand, I feel like it did whatever I wanted. I always loved him. He was always there for me, and I wish he could have been around longer. RIP 2011-2017 my best friend aka my 3ds (top screen wont come on)
