Switch Presentation Recap

With the conclusion of the Nintendo Switch Presentation, we have a whole slew of new information to share about the Nintendo Switch, including its release date, features, as well as some titles launching throughout the year.

Release Date and Price
The Nintendo Switch is set to launch March 3, 2017 for $300. This includes the main console, a pair of Joy-Con controllers, a grip, wrist straps, a Nintendo Switch dock, an HDMI cable, and an AC adapter. Two versions will launch, one with gray Joy-Cons and one with neon blue/red Joy-Cons.

The Joy-Cons
The presentation highlighted some interesting and unique functionalities for the Switch controllers. As we know, they can be popped off the side of the Switch and can be used to play two-player games. Each Joy-Con is characterized by a joystick, four face buttons, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, as well as small L/R shoulder buttons. The right Joy-Con has an AR camera that detects distance, as well as an NFC reader for Amiibo figures. The left Joy-Con has some different features, having the ability to capture screenshots. Both the left and right Joy-Con have a unique vibration feature called “HD Rumble.” A demonstration performed by Nintendo’s Yoshiaki Koizumi claims that the Joy-Con can feel as though you are holding a cup of ice, with the addition of each cube making it heavier and heavier. It will be a neat element to play around with, for sure.

Specs
Nintendo officially confirmed that the Switch has a 6.2-inch 720p screen that can be used for on-the-go play. The Switch has a default 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded, alongside two speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a slot on the top right for game cartridges. The Switch is reported to last anywhere between 2.5 to 6 hours, but can also be utilized while it is charging. Additionally, there will be no more region lock.

Accessories
Aside from what comes in the box, you will be able to purchase additional pairs of Joy-Cons for $79.99 and the Pro Controller for $69.99. A set of racing wheels and a Switch Dock Set can also be purchased for $14.99 and $89.99, respectively.

Online Service
Similar to other major consoles, the Switch is introducing a paid service that will start as a free trial at launch. The subscription includes online play, dedicated lobby and voice chat functionality, a monthly game download (NES or SNES), and additional exclusive deals. Price options were not discussed quite yet.

  1. For those who have played Emerald before, I have a question:
So I just beat Tabitha and Maxie at the space center, and I feeel very underleveled because Maxie’s Camerupt was 5 levels higher than my Sceptile (the highest leveled Pokemon on my team)
Am I supposed to be this underleveled? I’m not sure, because I haven’t played Emerald before this run

  2. So here’s what’s wrong with Sun and Moon’s characters.

Hau comes of as a male minion character type seen in feminist media (i.e. Steven Universe)

Lillie is quite clearly a Mary Sue by virtue of being a main character (i.e. Legend of Korra)

The setting is completely unrealistic and comes off as virtue signaling (i.e. Voltron)

And keep in mind, I’m not white.

  3. So this is the last thing I’m going to say with all of this going on but:
Ziggy, you continuously and pressingly bring up sexism and racism, and from my experience it isn’t allowed at this site. This does not mean this is a site that shuns people, but rather the exclusion of racial hate towards another race, and hatred shared against the opposite sex. That is the number one rule here at Pokejungle, only the allowance of discussing Pokemon material, as well as the allowance of the material and discussions of other Nintendo products. There are a few exceptions, yes, but in particular that is only other fan bases. If you sincerely wish to bring up this discussion, I would recommend you find a front row seat in an alternate website, because this is a site about positivity, Pokemon, and good people I enormously enjoying talking to in the comments. So go ahead, try to knock us down with your comments. Because we’ll stand here all day.

  5. Oh Hey. I know things are kinda quiet in here right now, but Figured I’d throw this out. Apparently Fire Emblem Warriors is a holiday title for the switch. So that’s pretty good.

      • Its more in line with Hyrule warriors I’d say. More or less another go at letting a different studio handle one of their series and see how they turn out, and given Fire Emblem was the series everyone wanted over Zelda when it came to a warriors game, the hype is pretty high.

    • Went back and played some Hyrule Warriors today… God damn I’ll never finish that game. There is TOO much content. I don’t see myself buying FE Warriors. I hate feeling like I wasted money when I don’t finish a game. And I bought all the non-3DS port related DLC too and have barely scratched the surface of that content.

      • Yeah that game’s just too big for its own good, like a lot of the warriors games are. Hopefully this one will be a lot more reasonable. Like instead of having one linear story, maybe having 3 small story’s based off of the three era’s they’ve referenced and a fourth acting as the ending with all of them coming together(probably under corrin).

      • I am so close to finishing it, besides that challenge/boss mode. Lol I almost have gold on every adventure mode map excluding a few on Twilight and the last moon stages of Termina. I think the most annoying part is maxing the last character who needs Ganon pieces.

  6. Remembered that I was SUPER close to 100%ing DKC: Tropical Freeze today and powered through a bit more. All I have are the last 2 secret levels. So close. And I finished Wind Waker HD this week. Yeee. Take that backlog!

  7. Realised that I’ve spoken a lot about my third legend Fakémon, yet simultaneously, not at all. So here it goes I guess ‘w’/

    Name: Neuthair
    Species: Neutrality Pokémon
    Type: Water/Normal
    Ability: Neutral Zone
Effect: Creates a curious rain (doesn’t have the benefits of actual rain and can actually run simultaneously with it and other weathers) which makes abilities and items* useless (Aegislash will default into Shield Form, Minior will immediately reveal its core, and Mimikyu’s disguise will remain up but won’t protect it).
Signature Move: Clean Sleet (Water Type, Status, 0 Accuracy, 0 Power, 5PP)
Effect: Resets all stat changes, weather, terrain, field hazards and status conditions on the field.

Acid: This Pokémon has protected the oceans since their creation: it is believed to proceed even Kyogre. It uses its oceanic abilities to soothe Aceris and Qalaryk.

Base: Neuthair will violently attack those who degrade the ocean, dragging them into its whirlpools, never to be seen again. However, it gives a window of time for the perpetrator to fix their mistake.

Equilibrium (1): Research has found that Neuthair’s whirlpools contain massive Ultra Wormholes. It is believed to be the reason that two oceanic Ultra Beasts have made their home far away.**

    Spoiler if anyone cares btw:

Equikibrium (II): This Pokémon is beyond even the oddness of the Ultra Beasts. It births Aceris and Qalaryk each millenia, at the same time the existing Aceris and Qalaryk appear to fuse into Neuthair.

    • I think it’s the route right below the nursery. You can move over to the left a little and then just go up and down without exiting or entering. I don’t like the whole spin in a circle thing…Plus you can break the big rock on that route and find some stardust, so free money

      Reply
    • Usually, I just make a full circle around the island, with me biking down to the Royal Avenue, then proceed to take Route 7. Then, I take Route 8 around the northernmost section of Akala, and finally, take Route 5 down back to the Nursery. It’s very good for hatching stuff.

  8. God today I just don’t feel like leaving my room…..everyday it’s just pointless filler while waiting for the switch…….

    So a Fakemon
Environmental Issues is the biggest problem for the Eyanu Region, despite vast amounts of life and Pokemon thriving, corporations try to abuse how secluded this region is from the world and dump pollution in these backwoods or back jungles

And often enough Pokemon get exposed to these chemicals and mutate or just plain be born from them, like Smoldoom!

    Smoldoom
    Fire/Poison
    The Choking Pkm
(the ability is N/A not trying to steal other Pokemon abilities)
This Pokemon is a sentient cloud of fumes, a nightmarish twisted pair of eyes of fire and surrounded by billowing black, purple and red clouds of superheated fumes,
“Born from reckless pollution, its surrounds the opponent with burning smoke until they pass out, they char the bodies to to build more to their gaseous bodies”
