Switch Presentation Recap

With the conclusion of the Nintendo Switch Presentation, we have a whole slew of new information to share about the Nintendo Switch, including its release date, features, as well as some titles launching throughout the year.

Release Date and Price
The Nintendo Switch is set to launch March 3, 2017 for $300. This includes the main console, a pair of Joy-Con controllers, a grip, wrist straps, a Nintendo Switch dock, an HDMI cable, and an AC adapter. Two versions will launch, one with gray Joy-Cons and one with neon blue/red Joy-Cons.

The Joy-Cons
The presentation highlighted some interesting and unique functionalities for the Switch controllers. As we know, they can be popped off the side of the Switch and can be used to play two-player games. Each Joy-Con is characterized by a joystick, four face buttons, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, as well as small L/R shoulder buttons. The right Joy-Con has an AR camera that detects distance, as well as an NFC reader for Amiibo figures. The left Joy-Con has some different features, having the ability to capture screenshots. Both the left and right Joy-Con have a unique vibration feature called “HD Rumble.” A demonstration performed by Nintendo’s Yoshiaki Koizumi claims that the Joy-Con can feel as though you are holding a cup of ice, with the addition of each cube making it heavier and heavier. It will be a neat element to play around with, for sure.

Specs
Nintendo officially confirmed that the Switch has a 6.2-inch 720p screen that can be used for on-the-go play. The Switch has a default 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded, alongside two speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a slot on the top right for game cartridges. The Switch is reported to last anywhere between 2.5 to 6 hours, but can also be utilized while it is charging. Additionally, there will be no more region lock.

Accessories
Aside from what comes in the box, you will be able to purchase additional pairs of Joy-Cons for $79.99 and the Pro Controller for $69.99. A set of racing wheels and a Switch Dock Set can also be purchased for $14.99 and $89.99, respectively.

Online Service
Similar to other major consoles, the Switch is introducing a paid service that will start as a free trial at launch. The subscription includes online play, dedicated lobby and voice chat functionality, a monthly game download (NES or SNES), and additional exclusive deals. Price options were not discussed quite yet.

A whole slew of titles were shown off for the Switch, some of which include:

1-2-Switch (March 3rd)

  2. Hmmmmm. So far, Im not buying the switch. Nothing really is pleasing to me. Splatoon 2 is cool, but I need either smash or Pokemon for me to buy it. Im happy to see everybody this excited

    Reply
    • Smash is only worth it for a few characters to me that need to be there including Jibanyan cause lets all face it in Smash 5 how can possibly one of the most popular games in Japan… how can its mascot not get in the game

      Reply
      • yeah i’m not seeing a Smash Installment until….maybe until the next E3….
But this time around Splatoon will be solid enough to slap them into the fray

          • Characters that deserve a comeback. Lucas, Roy They were brought back due to high demand there’s no way they will leave them.
Characters that should never be put in smash ever again: Cloud
Characters that should be erased from smash history: Cloud
Character that shouldnt even get a trophy next game: Cloud

          • No yo-kai crap and sadly after what happened to paper mario no thank you
            Shovel Knight
            Decidueye
            Inkling
            Some turdwipe from Xeno2
and……..lastly though a tad early but i would love to see Spring man

          • Dude have you seen japanese rave of Yo-kai? In 2015 Yo-Kai watch 2 was the 1# most sold game in Japan and The Yo-Kai watch movie in Japan beat Star Wars 7 in theaters if somehow they think “hmm one of most popular games here… nope don’t put it in the big game” they are idiots!

          • Decidueye would be just like Greninja a hybrid rip-off

            Greninja- Sonic+Lucario
            Decidueye- Link+Lucario

          • I really hope they dont bring Lucario back. It’s so irrelevant Charizard is fan favorite and got two megas, so it was kinda relevant. Lucario Charizard Jigglypuff seriously need to go

          • Ehh I kinda think Charizard should only cause

Lucario lets admit is decent and has good attacks yet is ripped off by everything new of the pokemon

Jigglypuff is to attract females who like pokemon

            Replace Charizard with Ivysaur

  3. I’m going on a gaming binge these next two months. I’m finishing Paper Mario, Playing Super Mario World and Yoshi’s Island. Then going to Zelda to prepare for BOTW. I’m playing Zelda 1, Link to the Past, then if I have time, I’m finishing Twilight Princess because I didn’t finish the playthrough I started a few months ago

  4. I literally can’t stop rewatching this BotW trailer
    It has me so hyped
    Especially because I love Zelda’s design ;~;

  6. Since Gorons are gonna be featured in Breath of the wild
i wonder if they’ll finally implement canonically Female Gorons

    Reply
      • of course you wouldn’t
Long story short i’m one of those physiology and race nerdos who studies video game species

And one thing that occurs to me is the strictly patriarchal species that is the Goron with extremely little to no females, and that raises three theories

Gorons reproduce asexually: in most games it is shown that Goron children are a very much real thing with no mother only surrounded by their Fathers WHICH spawns a very interesting theory only Chiefing Gorons are allowed to have children since Goron children are always the son of chiefs

or that the Goron Women are highly removed from the hierarchy where a Goron female simply is living away from the goron society or they mate and leave or they are prone to labor induced deaths and once a Goron female gives birth she swiftly dies off

      • TBF its just another method, creating all your Fakémon before assigning version exclusives is important too!

        Reply
    • I love how the Crab Apple mon is literally a crab XD
In all seriousness, I would probably choose the Grass type

And Basic legend would be the one I’d choose

      Reply
      • Aww, thanks! I love Poké puns (such as Tsareena being a literal queen of fruit, which is one of the names for the mangosteen) so I was drawn to it the moment I thought of it 😀

Also I know you’re just basing off of name, type and a slight description of what it is, but tbh I’d say you made the right choice XD what I’ve imagined for Qalaryk is much more epic than Aceris imo

        Reply
          • It’s meant to have a creepy, unsettling yet majestic vibe, so I hope that if it’s ever visualised it won’t dissapoint 😀

    • ehh some of these names i don’t like or just in general a Centrifuge pokemon? what were you smoking
they just don’t the Pokemon pow to them

      Reply
      • A gear Pokémon? An anchor Pokémon? An electrical lighting Pokémon?

And yeah the names are weird, but for the legends it’s intentional and for the other ones it’s because it’s a fan project so I’m not going to spend fifty years making a perfect name: if it fits, it fits

        Reply
          • I did try? Point out ‘lazy ones’ if it bothers you so much?

            Also, Xurkitree

          • It is literally electric lighting

The wires and plugs feed a white glowing part, and how is a wire any worse than a Centrifuge?

          • because a centrifuge is a appliance which the concept on a organic creature is beyond comprehension

Like a how would that even look, you’re just pushing the title

          • And a wire isn’t beyond organic creatures? A gear? A magnet?

Literally all you need for a Centrifuge Pokémon is something resembling a Centrifuge. I could literally just make any animal and stick it on its back

Basically, it’d resemble a mini Centrifuge, but with tiny legs to reposition itself (its still hella slow) and a nearly turtle like head (it doesn’t match up with any living creature, it’s a generic head). However, it doesn’t have the plastic covering, leaving the Centrifuge exposed to allow its tube based children to fit in, as well for it to fit cylindrical objects in it to attack

          • No, stop policing other people’s ideas

A turtle can’t pop its children or cylinders into its back, and it doesn’t fit the purposes of the design I made (I need another Steel type and another Electric-Type. It also fulfills the science vs magic theme of the game). Not to mention how terribly cliché your idea is

          • well least it can actually make sense, its like having a pencil sharpener Pokemon or a frying pan

robot/appliance Pokemon are just really dumb

          • We’ve already had multiple robots

We’ve had tools and weapons, no different from appliances

People could actually make those concepts work, not to mention how simple they are compared to objects Pokémon has used like gears and magnets

          • Nice way to try and shut down the argument, but no. I’m not a good artist, and I’d fuck the design up, simple as.

And you’re the one who’s over complicating things. It’s such a simple concept: a simplified version of an appliance + some animalistic features (with a head and limbs). How can you not get that through your thick skull?

          • so draw it if its so simple

I’m calling you out because you talk a big game but you barely back it up

          • Oh my fucking God how can someone be so dense

Not only did I just say I’d make a mangle out of even the most simple design (I could fuck up a line), but you’re a total hypocrite. Also, it’s nearly 12am here and why the hell should I draw for some entitled twenty something on a Pokémon site looking to fellate his fragile ego?

You want call outs? Fine? You’re a total hypocrite. You’ll give someone into shit for something, and then just fuck off or continue brute forcing the conversation when you’re proven wrong or your point is challenged. For example, you criticise my Pokémon names yet you have such names like ‘Toxiggedon’ that feels like a two year old made it and doesn’t fit the grandeur of a legend at all go the point the name fails its purpose.

For someone I say I have more bark than bite, all I can do is laugh. You’re just as bad, if not worse, because you’ll either divert the conversation or just abandon it when your point to view is challenged pretty much every time it happens

          • learn to take criticism jack, not everybody is gonna be on board with you’re ideas and will poke holes in your logic with given the opportunity, i challenged your ideas and urge you to prove me wrong with logic and creativity to make the finished product better.

Also Toxigeddon Toxic + Armageddon a fitting name for a Pokemon born from the recklessness of humans who polluted a sacred grove in the Eyanu Region , the land which breathed life was corrupted and twisted, causing the very land to come to life and destroy everything in its wake, the very presence of this pokemon defiled the land causing everything to whither poison and die, a

          • I can take criticism, but a man child just slagging off my ideas and not giving any positive feedback isn’t going to help, is it?

And you’re not improving anyone’s ideas, you’re trying to hijack them into completely different directions that defeat the purpose and ignores the fact that the creator has a perspective that you don’t have. You’re not giving constructive criticism, you just make jabs at others and are generally unpleasant about it (oh logic logic logic, it’s a fan creation for a game with magical fighting animals, logic is malleable here) whilst not even praising people for what they’re doing good: that’s proper constructive criticism.

Also ‘not everyone’s going to share your view’. Cute, you should teach yourself that some time. I can cope with it just fine, just not when people become complete arse holes over a kids game

Didn’t ask for your whole backstory, and I don’t care if the name origin fits, the combined name sounds juvenile and oversimplistic

I’m away to bed, respond if you want but I doubt I’ll care to answer becuase talking to you is like talking to paint dry

          • *Your, I am not a vent sweetie, although we could really use one since your head seems to be full of hot air over disagreements over a kids game

          • tentacles and tendrils dummy they’re wire in appearance and that flows organically
but a centrifuge is just so overly complicated and you know it

          • ‘dummy’

Pot kettle black if you think all animals move ‘flowing and smoothly’, tons of animals have jerky or constant actions

Not to mention the Pokémon isn’t an animal based one

And a Centrifuge isn’t that complicated, it’s literally a spinning device. It’s probably less complicated than a magnet

    • Some mistakes: Hordrake is Dragon/Rock

Diedem is a possessed diadem that conjures a feminine shape underneath it
