Pokémon Mascot Showdown: Generation VII

Hey everybody, due to certain circumstances, we’re bringing you the last regional Mascot Showdown a little bit later! The winner of the last showdown is Xerneas with 53%.
Let’s move on to our last region: Alola. This brand new region is the startpoint for Generation VII – bringing incredible, new features like Trials, Z-Moves, the Battle Royal, Poké Rides, regional variants and so much more!

Pokémon Sun Version

Pokémon Sun featured Solgaleo, the Sunne Pokémon, on its cover. It resembles a more robust white lion design complete with a galaxy motif on its forehead. Its crownlike spikes and its tuffs of fur around its head resemble a sun. Among the people of Alola, it’s known as the beast that devours the sun and has therefore been honored as its emissary.

Solgaleo is the only known Pokémon that can learn the move Sunsteel Strike. Along with Lunala, its counterpart, it’s the only Legendary Pokémon that’s part of an evolutionary line. Not to mention it also has the highest HP-stat of all Steel-type Pokémon. Its name comes from ‘sol‘ (Latin for ‘sun’), ‘Galileo‘ (the man who proved that the Earth rotated around the sun) and ‘leo‘ (Latin for ‘lion’).

Pokémon Moon Version

Lunala, the Moone Pokémon, graced the cover of Pokémon Moon. It’s a large skeleton-like bat whose wings seem to resemble the moon, and are made of the night sky. Much like Solgaleo, it can travel between our dimension and the Ultra Space. Additionally, it’s called the beast that calls the moon, thus gaining the title “emissary of the moon” by the Alolan people.

Lunala‘s signature move is called Moongeist Beam. While Solgaleo is called the male evolution of Cosmog, Lunala is called the female one. Its name derives from ‘luna‘ (Latin for ‘moon’) and ‘ala‘ (Latin for ‘wing’).

  2. Well, I learned my lesson, I’m going to accept that there will be no more new Pokemon games on the 3DS, all will be on Switch, ORAS isn’t as good as I thought, and the Gen 4 remakes aren’t completely favoured as I saw. At least Inow won’t be so arrogant anymore with the stuff, sorry.

  4. Ok am I the only one not ready for a new game? I am not done playing Sun and Moon, we dont even have the national dex yet. I have only built one competitive team. I barely even gotten to shiny hunt or just train pokemon for fun yet. I havent even gotten all my stamps. I havent even gotten to play my moon copy yet. I feel like if a new game is announced, I will be rushed to do all these things.

  9. Do these sound okay for legendary names

Aceris (Acere, Latin word for ‘be sour’ and the origin of the word ‘acid’, and ‘bris’ a Gaelic (or at least Scottish-Gaelic) with connotations for multiple forms of destruction, such as ‘dash’ (like dashing hopes), ‘breach’, ‘break’ and ‘smash’)

Qalaryk (Qala, Arabic word for’ fry/roast’ and the origin of the word ‘alkali’, and a corruption or ‘dì-làraich’, Gaelic (or at least Scottish-Gaelic) for ‘destroy’)

  10. I’m really bored so I’m watching a bunch of old nintendo directs because it’s fun to remember what I thought of a game before release vs what I think of it now, and wow, when Iwata was alive we had directs pretty much every single month. I really miss that, I had forgotten they were so frequent. Getting like 2-3 directs a year isn’t enough, especially when they skip E3’s direct.

  11. Just thought of something.
In an alternate pikmin 3 universe, the koppai travellers eat the pikmin on their first encounter, discover they are delicious, and take them home as food.

  12. Last post before bed, it’s about my legends. They used to be Ultra Beasts, but Seraph and SuMo beat me to the point :p

Also, a bit of context. Acid based moves would all get Basic counterparts, which are physical and lower defense instead of special defense, but besides that are identical. There’s now separate Z-Moves for physical and special moves, with the physical Poison move being ‘Alkali Assault’: the Pokémon charges at the opponent covered in an alkaline aura. The ability Corrosion allows Acid and Base moves to hit Steel-Types for super effective damage.

Both legendaries awaken every hundred years to release their pent up energy and to feed – it’s considered a natural disaster, and people have bunkers for it and everything. The Acid Legendary actively rampaged and destroys, whereas the Alkali legendary passively damages everything it touches. All attempts to neutralise them have been useless. They eventually meet, and have an epic battle which is quelled by an unknown singing voice, accompanied by rain which heals the organic life harmed by these Pokémon – but not damage to inanimate objects, sadly.

Name: Aceris (Based off the Nuckelavee)
    Species: Destructive Pokémon
    Type: Poison/Electric
    Ability: Acid Amplifier
Effect: Strengthens all Acid based moves, giving them a 1.5x multiplier and makes them strong against Steel-Types.
    Signature Move: Acid Annihilation
Effect: Poison, Special, 60 Base Power, 90 Accuracy
Lowers the opponent’s Special Defense by one stage.

Acid: Revered as a destructive demon, this Pokémon sprays its acid to destroy all in its path when angered. It leaves no bodies in its wake.

Base: This Pokémon is said to of been born with its twin when the creator purged itself of its negative traits. It’s unknown if this is true, but it accounts for its violent outbursts.

Name: Qalaryk (Based off the Selkie)
    Species: Destructive Pokémon
    Type: Poison/Steel
    Ability: Base Boost
Effect: Strengthens all basic moves, allowing them to hit Steel-Types super effectively and hit with 1. 5x strength.
    Signature Move: Alkaline Abhorrence
Effect: Poison, Physical, 60 Base Power, 90 Accuracy
Lowers the opponent’s defense by one stage.

Acid: It is said to of been born alongside its twin as the creator purged its flaws. This could explain why it passively destroys all it makes contact with.

Base: Parts of its skin is heavily alkaline, to the point where touching it will corrode anything that it took touches. It appears it can restrain this freely, but it chooses not to.
