RUMOR: 20 New Pokémon Added for Pokémon Stars

A week ago Laura Dale, a video game journalist, participated in a Reddit AMA (‘Ask Me Anything’) session for the Nintendo Switch in which she claimed that the Pokémon Sun and Moon follow-up, codenamed Pokémon Stars, could feature 20 new Pokémon.

This is notable as Dale has been involved in leaking other information about the Nintendo Switch which has been proven accurate. She mentions that another gaming writer (who unceremoniously announced Pokémon Stars on the release day of Sun & Moon) didn’t think the inclusion was likely.

Where this leaves us, the fans, isn’t known, but it does raise a question: will their be Nintendo Switch exclusive Pokémon? While we have always had new forms or event legendaries for titles within the same generation, content has never been locked away on a separate console. This could make some uncomfortable if they can’t catch ’em all without ponying up what is likely to be $300 for the Switch this spring.

A Nintendo Direct focusing on the new console is just a week away, so we could see the title announced with more details then.

  4. Alright I got a new pokemon for my region (I’m on fire tonight with them)

    Name: Tinkertot
    The Toy Pokémon
    Type: Steel/???
“A popular child’s toy, after wanting to impress their owners so badly this pokemon found a way to bring itself to life; though timid by nature it’s will put its life on the line to protect its trainer.”

    • Hmmmmmm fight Steel with Steel!
      Herore And Ferroic

      Ferroic
      Steel
      The Justice Pkm
      Justified/Guts
A humanoid Pokemon with a body made out of a flexible liquid metal, they have red and yellow boot and glove like markings and a large fin sticking out atop their cube like heads, a pair of long tassels extends out their necks and resemble a scarf or a cape, they also have extending shoulder blades and lastly yellow goggle like eyes and a mask
“Nobody knows where these Pokemon originated, some reported seeing them descend from the sky; theirs body is made up of a unknown alloy that has many mysterious properties”

They learn a plethora of moves including
Bullet Punch, Extrasensory, Ice Beam/Flamethrower/Thunderbolt, Fly, Teleport, Superpower, sticky web (just kidding), Flash Cannon, Iron Defense and lastly Mind Reader

But at the cost of abysmal HP

      • Oh right this pokemon is kind of in a tamrapazoid shape made of shiny metal has four little silver and red wheels, two pupil less yellow eyes, two shiny dual pronged rods for arms, and a small hand drawn on mouth (kind of like Mimikyu’s)

  6. I need to ask for my Bull starter should it turn

Fat but bulky Musk Ox with lots of hair

Bold powerful Bull with Musk Ox qualities but still less hair and more muscular

Neither will be bipedal so no worries

  7. I just thought of something today.

Why isn’t the Xbox One suffering from the same naming issue that the Wii U did? The wii u name mislead customers into thinking that it was just an add on to the Wii, so many didn’t even know it was a new console. So why is the XB1 having a similar issue? Wouldn’t people think the “one” would refer to the first XB, and not the newest version? It seems like just as misleading a name as the Wii u is.

    • Wii U’s misleading name was also topped by questionable advertising which focused on its unique controller, reinforcing the impression of being an add-on.

      • That makes sense, but the XB1 is still losing that “word of mouth” advertising in a sense. If you just heard or read about it then the average consumer still might think that it refers to the original.

        • I kinda disagree with that: the original Xbox was pretty obscure except to the Xbox players themselves, who are also the least likely people to mistake people saying “Xbox” today, to refer to the original Xbox.

    • to be fair, Xbox had the number theme with 360 and they always name their consoles xbox. Now you have nintendo who every single console had a different name, SNES – N64 – Gamecube – Wii to name them all. Now if you see they kept the Wii name on, hoping that because of how successful the Wii has been, the name will be enough brand power to sell the console. Sadly this backfire because they stopped the tradition, the legacy of naming the console something completely new.

        • most likely, because quite frankly the usage of words is key in a succesful marketing and advertisement. With the word super, people would say improvement, better. The only thing is how uneffective the name would. Do you really buy a console with the name super on it. Maybe in the past it would being, but in this generation some people would be ridicule by saying “oh yeah i bought the super wii”

      • But the original was called “Xbox” but since that’s just the brand now, you’d have to either say “the original Xbox” or “the first Xbox” (basically where I think it would get confusing to consumers) to distinguish what you’re talking about. I get what you mean, I’m so glad they dropped the Wii brand though.

        • the thing is the word one has a bigger impact than first or original. The word ‘One’ does gives that sense of completely fresh or new.

          • In what way at all? “One” to me would refer to the first in a series, not the third. It doesn’t sound fresh to me, but I didn’t comment to get in a disagreement about console names. 😛

          • one: the only one -> the only product the matters; like govnah said, all in one. One -> the top, the best One -> the beginning of something new

see the word first would symbolize first of everything imo.

          • it part of the slogan
            “all in one, Xbox one”
its meant to be advertised as a home entertainment not just a console

    • its funny tho we call it the switch but in reality the consoles name is Nintendo Switch clearly. which is a pretty neat name. it flows well

  8. Why does it seem like earlier everyone was depressed? I understand personal problems and other stuff, but I wonder why is the world so sad these days?

    Reply
      • Yeah it saddens me when people like Starstorm, Seraph, and even Earthen are depressed and such cause literally this place is my place to talk to awesome people who share my interests (unlike most in my area) and I see people are sad it just makes me sad too just more for them than about a lot of other stuff

        Reply
          • Yeah especially Star cause I don’t know if it’s a big secret but I do care for her quite a bit (also not saying I have a crush or anything, and not saying I like her anymore than the rest of you but still) and she has such amazing talents in Animation and Drawing and is beautiful so it makes me sad when people like that get like that, same goes for talents with all of us surprisingly everyone here has talent and could make it big one day

          • That’s really nice of you to say that.
I care about everyone here as well, and I know they’ll get through this. Tough times happen, and life goes on. Best we can do is just wait it out I guess and hope for the best for them.

          • Oh nice, I also used Island Scan earlier this week, but on Poni Island, and got myself a female Samurott with an Adamant nature

      • It’s kind of for me too but for me more I’m just pissy and a tad moody but less on Internet cause I know if my full force was here I’d be ignored I’d be that bad with showing everything that can be built up inside me (even though this is my normal me)

        • Yeah, I get what you mean. I have a 4 day weekend coming up which should be pretty nice though, so I can look forward to that at least.

          • Of course, that goes without saying. xP
I really REALLY wish I was off on the 13th, I’m going to be super ticked off if I miss pre-orders.

          • Here’s hoping that we’re both lucky. Where do you plan to order from (given the choice)? I’m going to try Gamestop at first, and if I can’t get that than anything is fine.

          • Good plan. Bad part is that 80 dollars of the money I have set aside is in GS gift cards, so if I can’t order from GS than I have to somehow come up with 80 dollars by March. I’ll probably try to trade some games in or something, Idk.

  9. Don’t suppose anyone has a spare Destiny Knot? I only have a bottle cap and stuff like Leftovers, Moon Ball Komala and other special ball stuff to offer in return now.
