RUMOR: 20 New Pokémon Added for Pokémon Stars

A week ago Laura Dale, a video game journalist, participated in a Reddit AMA (‘Ask Me Anything’) session for the Nintendo Switch in which she claimed that the Pokémon Sun and Moon follow-up, codenamed Pokémon Stars, could feature 20 new Pokémon.

This is notable as Dale has been involved in leaking other information about the Nintendo Switch which has been proven accurate. She mentions that another gaming writer (who unceremoniously announced Pokémon Stars on the release day of Sun & Moon) didn’t think the inclusion was likely.

Where this leaves us, the fans, isn’t known, but it does raise a question: will their be Nintendo Switch exclusive Pokémon? While we have always had new forms or event legendaries for titles within the same generation, content has never been locked away on a separate console. This could make some uncomfortable if they can’t catch ’em all without ponying up what is likely to be $300 for the Switch this spring.

A Nintendo Direct focusing on the new console is just a week away, so we could see the title announced with more details then.

  9. I hate work so much…gnawing away on my fibers
    So that is why I came up with a new Fakemon

    Terramite
    Bug/Rock
    It has a new ability Resilience which halfs damage when their HP is above 50%
    A fairly small insectoid Pokemon of a dark grey and brown coloration, their bodies have a rocky shell and needle like legs that skitter pretty fast, their rears are fat storage tanks that constantly burns off consumed materials, and lastly is their powerful mandibles which resembles a crane claw
    “Consuming more than 50lbs of Rock and dirt a day are these disastrous Pokemon’s dietary habits, capable of chewing mountains to pieces in over a week some have reported feasting on surrounding Rock Pokemon”

    They’re a menace to anything stone!

      • That can destroy mountains from the inside out if left unchecked and besides real termites (and most insects) have fatty abdomens

        I wanted to write a dex entry that was like
        “They crush and digest rocks with their powerful teeth, they occasionally try to eat Graveler and Onix”

  18. In an interview with someone of Gamefreak or Nintendo (I don’t remember) someone said that they had to do a different version of the games / different games just before finishing S/M and that he was surprised that they were asked to do that but he liked the results.

    Another thing, was the secret shared with Rockruff and the starters coming from an official source? Because AFAIK the secret isn’t revealed yet… That could be a hint of what’s coming.

  19. Oh right I just got some new pokemon ideas from old things I have made introducing as the ideas

    -A Moss pig- Grass but turns Grass/Dark- two stage

    -A Bubble pokemon-Water- Two or three stages

    -A Frog pokemon- only last stage is known and no type confirmed- three stages

  21. What’s the point of Honey in the games now? Since it doesn’t summon hordes? Also does anyone know a faster way to get a Destiny Knot? My Meowth rarely picks up anything at all :/

  22. I just had an instant realization.
    Fairy/Steel is probably my favorite type combo. I love both types. They hit so many things and can take a lot too. Also every pokemon of this type is great. Mega Mawile rekts lives. Megearna blasts away the families. Klefki eats the salty tears of the fallen.
    Whats your guys favorite existing type combo?

  25. QUESTION: If you had to pic a select few Pokemon to get Alolan forms whom would you pic? They can be from any region. Try to be specific in type, ability, and design. No sweat if you can’t think of the ability or design as much lol

    • Alolan Caterpie/Metapod/Butterfree line!

      Alolan Caterpie (Bug/Psychic):
      – Much lighter shade of green on its back, and its belly is a light pink colour. Its antennae are a little longer and lay back across its head onto its back, and they’re coloured a darker pink. Not sure what the story would be here exactly, but the longer antennae would be what it channels its developing psychic powers through, and it uses them for sensing emotions/feelings and such. I’d imagine them as more timid than regular Caterpie and they read the feelings of people and Pokémon around them to know who to trust and who may wish to do them harm.

      Alolan Metapod (Bug/Psychic):
      – Noticeably fatter than regular Metapod, and it’s the same light green colour as Alolan Caterpie but the lines on Alolan Metapod are the light pink colour of Alolan Caterpie’s belly.

      Alolan Butterfree (Bug/Psychic)
      – Its nose/mouth, hands, and feet are the light pink colour of the Caterpie belly. Its feet are smaller than those of regular Butterfree. Its main purple colouration is a lighter purple now. Its antennae are much longer and drape over its head and behind its back, and they are the darker pink colour of Alolan Caterpie’s antennae. Its wings are larger than those of regular Butterfree, and the lines on its wings are the dark pink colour as well now.
