Pokémon GO Gearing Up For Something Big

Several leaks and announcements are pointing to Niantic gearing up for something huge in Pokémon GO!

Pictures, screenshots, and more have popped up from a confidential notice for Starbucks employees about a new sponsorship deal with the popular coffee shop beginning on December 8th. This sponsorship includes making most, but not all, Starbucks locations a Gym or Pokéstop in game and the introduction of a brand new Pokémon GO inspired Frappuccino! But what’s bigger than the appropriately Raspberry flavored blended drink is that the employee notice says “Pokémon GO is about to expand with new Pokémon” and a “new update.” This, alongside an official partnership with Sprint to make 10,500 locations Gyms or PokéStop adds to the hopefully growing list of sponsorships, and the possible introduction to Generation II Pokémon.

But if Gen II is just around the corner, what about the still omitted legendary Pokémon from Gen I? What do you think, will this holiday season mark us being able to catch Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile and the rest of Generation II in GO? Whatever the case, the update on Dec. 12th will definitely shed some light on the matter.

  1. Starbucks is really off the damn mark with the fashionableness of this promotion haha, but lucky for them, about half my friends will fanatically buy starbucks without pokemon go welded to it

  2. Niantic instead of being a corrupt, cheap and ignorant company like you are, how about implementing all 6 OTHER GENERATIONS?! No stupid events, no stupid sponsorships, JUST FOCUS ON THEM! If not then Pokemon Go will be known as the game of disappointment.

  3. Serebii updated with info about go and I’m really torn over itv

For one I would love to make it to gen 3 to see a Flygon in it… but at the same time it’s such a casual game and really just needs to die already. It’s done nothing of use for the Pokémon community

    • Pokemon go is just horrible. It completely strips away the main components of the damn game. I don’t think there’s ever been a more watered down Pokemon experience

  4. found code referencing the entire second generation of Pokémon including mentions of Chikorita, Totodile, Qwilfish and others,

Why the hell is Qwilfish mentioned

  5. Sad to say I’m over SM. I can’t get myself to continue the game after finishing the main story. I think the game mechanics are really starting to bore me, even if SM changed them a bit. Still very excited for the pokemon themselves though

    • >implying Pokémon still isn’t the greatest thing ever.
      >why am I green texting outside of 4chan?

But seriously, at least you made it to post game. For me personally, finishing th main story is satisfying enough.

    • honestly I feel you, XY I played the hell out of but once ORAS came I found myself kind of bored with pokemon in general, I was a big shiny hunter/breeder, but this generation I don’t want to really do either, I thought the games were simply amazing but I’m starting to feel as if my pokemon days are coming to an end

      • Exactly how it happened to me. For me to be really interested in pkm again they’ll have to actually make games targeted to an older audience, and not always kind of the same story (kid discovering the world, beating the evil organization etc). Maybe there’s some hope with the Switch

        • At least I still have zelda, so Im ok, but then again the last of us part 2 is coming so ill also be throwing my money at playstation, hopefully they are also working on a new dragon age game

          • Besides Pokemon and Animal Crossing I don’t play video games that much. I recently watched a playthrough of the two last Lara Croft games and they’re so good, but I could never play such games though ahah (too much violence for me)

          • How is competitive battling boring? You must be a boring person or maybe this game just isn’t cut out for you. The strategy it takes to win a competitive battle is so entertaining. And then when you outsmart your opponent and actually win its the best feeling

          • I’ve been playing pokemon since I was very young and never felt the need to play competitively lol. No patience to breed and do all that shit just to get “decent” pokemon to then battle against people who use basically the same pokemon. I still love the franchise, gamefreak just has to step up their game and actually target it to young adults too.

      • You guys need to BATTLE. You wouldn’t be bored if you stopped just collecting and actually get into the competitive play swing of things. I’m at work right now itching to get home and just have a good battle

        • …. wth I battle all the time, online battles are the least fun part of every pokemon game because all people ever do is use the same pokemon over and over again, boring.

    • At the risk of sounding like I’m kicking you out, (and I’m not,) it’s really not a good use of time playing something you no longer enjoy, so just take a break if not quit entirely, and use your free time for something better.

  6. Guys! Guys! I think I’m getting really close to finding the anti-Ou for this gen!
All I’m going to say is that
Araquanid Zygarde 50% is a scary combo
And that scarfed roserade can kill every Tapu in one hit while only theatened by scarfed lele

      • The only thing is that I still have testing with fire sivally
        But let me say
Zygarde counters all of the less spammed threats (Minior, Salazzle, Minior)
        Roserade counters tapus
Araquanid is an EXTREMELY good bait for Xurkitree, most people switch in to damage it but Xurkitree can’t OHKO outside of Gigavolt or a crit. Araquanid OHKOS Xurk
        Araq seems to tank Pheramosa
The other members of my team cover other specific roles, coverage mainly

          • But I don’t want to use Pre Bank either
Just wanted to make a new team with new stuff, but like always I’m stupid to believe it could work against the legends

          • Oh ( I swear I always get them mixed up)
Araqunid is scary, the other night it totally botched my team because of it going bulky

          • Exactly! I said in the beginning
Calling it! My boi is OU!
            Everyone doubted
            ability effect was discovered?
            Still no one believed
            Game came out
Smogon doesn’t believe, its not getting an OU analysis despite being better than a good 70% of the new meta, 80% if we don’t count legends and UBs

      • There’s a Youtube video showing files of content that are in the games’s folder, but not actually in-game. Lillie has two Pokemon trainer models and so does Mohn, the guy from Poke Pelago. In fact, Mohn is pretty high up the list, above Guzma and Looker and in the same group as the Aether models. Which lets me to believe the theory that Mohn from Poke Pelago is the same Professor Mohn who used to work for Aether and created Type: Null.

There are also overworld sprites for Zygarde and the rest of the Alola dex, so that tells me they were planning on bringing back the partner mechanic from HGSS.

        • Oh yeah I saw that. I thought you meant that they officially said they needed to scrap some stuff or something. And yeah I’d say this stuff adds credence to the Stars rumor. Not that I didn’t believe it from the beginning given both Emily Rogers and Eurogamers track record, but still this is good stuff. That said I wouldn’t say that this stuff was cut. Rather maybe more so just left in as they were testing out the mechanics. Also having certain models in there lets them have flexibility with their ideas. So if they had really wanted Lillie to be battle-able then they could have done it. Either way I look forward to seeing what Stars has to offer. I’m incredibly excited about the prospects of the first main series Pokemon game being not only on the TV, but also in full HD! lol

  7. Here’s a summary of the video I just saw, the first one most of us probably already knew though:
    1: Marshadow+Marshadium Z, 6 exclusive Pikachu forms, Pikashunium Z and Mewnium Z
2: Default and 10% Zygarde overworld models
    3: Fourth type of enemy
    4: Lille trainer model
5: Mohn trainer model, listed above Guzma and in the same bracket as the Aether Foundation

  8. Nintendo issued a $20,000 bounty if you report hackers to them. They’re clearly very pissed about Sun and Moon got leaked 2 weeks before release
