  1. Favorite Trial Captain: Probably Acerola. She was fairly well developed and also a very upbeat, charismatic girl. I enjoyed her dialogue and found many things odd about her, particularly her royal beginnings and close friendship with Nanu (because she is his niece). I was excited to see her again later in the game for a particular reason, and hope to see more of her in the future. She seems like one of the younger Trial Captains, so it’s almost a given we’ll be seeing her.

Favorite Kahuna: Hapu by far. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the Kahunas, but Hapu had wonderful development, since we knew about her since Akala Island. She was a huge helper, had great dialogue, and a particular cutscene right before the Altar that gave me chills. Of course, no one really embodied the Kahuna spirit like Hala, but I really enjoyed Hapu’s backstory and journey to get to where she is.

    • Guzma and Lusamine are my favorite villains of the series to date. Although we really can’t call either true “villains,” there’s some good in the both of them.

    • I think Ash will participate in the Island challenges and beat totem Pokemon and in the end he will become the first champion of Alola

      • Here it is

        1. Minor but this is important, the original Faller was a her, so that clears up some other options
        2. She’s well aware of the other dimensions, very few characters even are. It seems very strange, even if she is a Draconid
        3. Listen to her theme.. compared to every other theme, even Wally, it sounds very strange in ORAS. Like it clearly doesn’t belong. It seems Kalosian…. but not quite
        4. She’s first seen disguised as a Aqua/Magma member. She’s playing the disguise role.. Only three other characters to my knowledge even do this. Petrel, the PC of Heartgold/Soulsilver… And Looker, a member of the international Police
        5. She tends to do things in a very unorthodox manner, and the International police tend to do this as well. The faller example speaks for itself.
        6. The typical person doesn’t just “know” that much about the mossdeep space station. Her relation to Devon is quite strange
        And finally
        7. Isn’t it funny that the only other faller besides yourself, Guzma, Lusamine, and Lillie is from Hoenn? It seems funny that Zinnia’s goals are all in Hoenn

  2. Just realized the irony of Lillie, PC, and Cosmog…. Omg… this is literally an english enthusiasts wet dream! And I feel REALLY at home with this!

  3. I love how the theme of motherhood is explored in these games. I love how the industry seems to have so much trouble writing female characters then pokemon is over here doing great with it

  4. NitPick – Why do Pokemon say their names in the overworld in sun and moon? They are animals it makes no sense. I get they did it in the anime so that people would remember their names but in the games there is no reason to other than to tick me of 😛

    • That’s nothing new, it’s been there since the early games iirc. My headcanon is that their cries can vaguely sound like their names in some cases. I know it barely works, but it’s either that or just saying they rationalise all their calls as their names somehow. I REFUSE to accept they’re saying their names, that’s one of the most egregiously moronic thing about the anime, it makes no bloody sense and it’s one of the reasons pokémon is perceived as dumb and childish.

  5. Omg… I just figured out why SuMo anime is good… they finally embraced the truth
The pokemon anime is a meme… so they embraced it… YES

    • There’s nothing cringey about sharing an opinion.

Also I expected Magic Guard as it’s hidden ability. Granted back then I didn’t believe the rumoured final evos were real so I expected to like Popplios final evolutions as opposed to what we got.

      • It’s just because of how Adamant everyone was, saying that it absolutely couldn’t be Water/Fairy and that the art couldn’t of been real. People who were like ‘I think it’s something else’ or ‘I don’t think these are real’ aren’t cringey at all.

There’s nothing wrong with admitting something from the past is cringey and sharing a good laugh or memories over it, even if you were one of the people who others think was cringey

Also Magic Guard > Liquid Shit

        • Fair enough. That’s why I’m never adamant with an opinion. Anything can happen.

And the hidden abilities were really lacklustre this gen. I guess after the broken shit they made last gen, they had to tone it down.

          • Liquid Voice should’ve been ‘Hydrate’ or something and turned Normal moves into Water moves

Rather than giving it a second Sparkling Aria which it can’t activate its Z-Move off of (Hydro Vortex or Oceanic Operetta)

    • Remember when people thought Rowlet could’ve been Grass/Ground? I liked the idea… but people were so adamant that a starter wouldn’t change it’s secondary typing, and that it would have to stay Grass/Flying all the way to the end.
What we got in the end was so much better than Grass/Ground or Grass/Flying, imo.
