Mascot Pokémon Showdown: Generation V

Hello everybody, we’re bringing you another Mascot Pokémon Showdown. The winner of last time is Giratina with 56%!
Now it’s time for Unova. Generation V released in 2010 in Japan and in 2011 in the rest of the world. This time, the generation consisted of four games: Black, White, Black 2 and White 2, and introduced amazing features, such as seasons, triple and rotation battles and the Pokémon World Tournament

Pokémon Black Version

black_en_boxartPokémon Black featured Reshiram, the Vast White Pokémon. It is a Dragon/Fire Pokémon that contains almost entirely out of fluff. By flaring the enormous engine-like tail, it can move the atmosphere of the world, which changes the weather.

Reshiram is the only Pokëmon known to be able to learn Fusion Flare and Blue Flare. Together with Zekrom, they were first shown on the Japanese and English website on the same date, which makes them the first two to be revealed worldwide simultaneously. Its name comes from ‘shiro‘ (白, ‘white’) and ‘re‘, which is just a softer sound than ‘ze‘.

Pokémon White Version

Pokémon White showcased Zekrom, the Deep Black Pokémon, white_en_boxarton its cover. He has a Dragon/Electric-typing with small black wings coming from its shoulders. Like Reshiram, Zekrom has an engine-like tail, but this one produces lightning bolts.

Zekrom has the highest Attack, Defense, and base stat total of all Electric Pokémon. It’s Ken Sugimori’s favorite Pokémon of Generation V. Its name is a combination of ‘kuro‘ (黒, ‘black’) and ‘ze‘, which is just a harder sound than ‘re‘.

Pokémon Black 2 Version

black_2_en_boxartOn the case of Pokémon Black 2 is Black Kyurem, a combination of Kyurem and Zekrom. It keeps Zekrom‘s arms, but is much more muscular than it. Its left arm, wing and lower jaw are completely covered in ice.

Black Kyurem has the highest Attack stat of all Ice Pokémon, and together with White Kyurem, it has the highest base stat total of all Ice-type Pokémon. Despite being larger than before it fused, it’s actually lighter than Kyurem. Its name comes from ‘rei‘ (冷, ‘cold’),  ‘kyuurei‘ (急冷, ‘rapid cooling’) and ‘rei‘ (零, ‘zero’).

Pokémon White 2 Version

Unlike all other generations, this generation had 2 upgraded white_2_en_boxartversions instead of one. On the second version, Pokémon White 2, you can see White Kyurem on the cover. This is a fusion of Kyurem and Reshiram. Its right wing, head plume and upper jaw are frozen.

White Kyurem has the highest Special attack stat of all Ice-type Pokémon, and, as mentioned before, the highest base stat total of all of them. It’s also the tallest Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

  1. With a japanese ditto and my own ditto to cover all 6 stats I can now comp breed and MM at the same time >:D. I would get the shiny charm, but I have a living dex just in my Bank, so I can wait until then. I can enjoy the game more. Just for further knowledge. Who are the competitive battlers here?

  2. Just so everyone knows, since a lot of people dont.
You can obtain beast balls if you run out BEOFRE you are done with post game. One trick is to let your pokemon hold the beast balls, and then ask looker about the balls. He will give you one each time you ask with none in your bag

  3. Ugh. When you play bad two games in a row and Battle Spot pairs you down three games in a row. At least I didn’t lose against any of the pair downs.

    • Ha ha, I had just gotten nearly wrecked by the trainers outside the battle tree and I forgot that Red and Blue show up when you walk in, so thinking I could heal I run in….. I had to Pokemon and a few revives which I didn’t use until during the battle. I used a total of Four Pokemon and beat Red. But I know the feeling, that used to happen to me in the old games. Where I was weakened from either a Gym Leader or a wild Pokemon and then have my Rival beat me.

  5. One more handy time.
If you are ready to start competitive breeding here’s the my method (probably not the best) for getting that 4iv ditto chaining
    1. Catch a sneasel
    2. Teach it substitute ( from kukui after you beat game) and Brick Break ( In verdant Cavern) False Swipe and a move with a lot of pp and can kill
    3. Attach a leppa berry to sneasel (you should start growing these in the isles)
    4. find a ditto on Mount Hokulani
    5. Set up a sub. Use the adrnaline ball and false swipe.
6, COUNT ITS MOVES Transform only has 10 pp
    7. Attack the new ally pokemon until your ditto is near out of pp then kill the caller ditto
    8. Rinse and repeat Step 6-7 until Chain 30 (Im pretty sure 30 is 4iv if not then 40)
    9. Catch chain ditto ~35/45 just to count for error
There you go! (Credit to Monkeybutt, we are very informed at discord so anymore questions come there)

    • Theres another method too, is to erase all the sneasel, but just let ditto copy a pokemon with recycle as the only move then fling or trick or bestow it a leppa berry, so you wont have to count Move number.

    • Just had my Scyther only know False Swipe, Brick Break, Sunny Day, Rain Dance
Keep the first ditto at 1hp
Then slice the ditto in half and counted the brick break pp

  7. Hey question. What would be a good set for a Pelipper for doubles. I mean obviously its going to be Drizzle for ability, and it would most likely be built for support. I’m just struggling to figure out a good move pool.

      • My first thought was tailwind, roost, protect, scald/Hydro Pump. I already have at least one wide guarder on my team(two that can learn it), so its less useful. That, and its for my league team which is a team of mostly steel mons, so the only things I’d be worry about is earthquake, which wouldn’t effect it, or heatwave, which isn’t that much of a threat to it.

        • Gotcha. Ok. Yea I like that those 4. I’d go Scald over Hydro Pump. The only low accuracy move I like is Stone Edge but that’s cause I’m use to Rock moves always having low accuracy anyway.

  8. I love how I missed the Bugnium Z because
    A. When I came in i noticed the shiny in Guzma’s chest.
    B. I then promptly couldn’t get it because I had to fight Guzma
    C. then the plot happened
    D. then I beat the elite 4, became champion, and found all but one z-crystal by sheer luck.
    E. and had to look it up.

  10. Influenced by InfinityD4; TV Shows as Pokemon Challenge! Make a summary of a show with Pokemon and we try to guess. My turn

Pyukumuku and his best buddy Staryu go through some wacky misadventures with a bothersome Tentacruel. Pyukumuku has a boss named Kingler, a beautiful yet powerful friend named Pheremosa, a strong lobster pal named Buzzwole and a small pet named Goomy.
