I am currently on the quest to catch all Ultra Beasts, after that I think I am going to consider wardrobe choices, battle and capture items, and continue my trek to the battle tree.
Already finished the main story, E4 and UB quest. Seriously the best Pokémon games and some of the best 3DS games of all time. I adore these games and the story and the characters and the Pokémon and just just, aaaaaahhh it’s so good. It has my favorite dex since Platinum and one of the best characters (well my favorite) ever Lillie. Just a 10/10 I love them so much
Although, I never played the game, I saw videos. I would give a 7.9/10. Gen IV and V a perfect 10/10 and Gen VI a 8.9/10. If this Gen were to win my heart, they need another Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game for this generation with Cosmog as the final boss of the main story.
It really isn’t the same if you don’t play it for yourself. It’s really the players adventure and watching someone else gives you half the experience

Critics criticize a movie because the purpose of a movie is for it to be watched. The purpose of an album is for the music to be heard. The purpose of a game is for it to be played. So how can you judge or CRITICIZE a game by just watching a video? Its meant to be played and you have NOT played the game.

I just wish there was more of it! I didn’t care for the BW2 sequels but I want like 10 SM sequels! More about Ultra Space, more about Lilly, about the original olgaleo and lunala and their history… What were the random number appearances of grimsly ( who has an amazing redesign!) and colress about?! Are there’s multiple solgaleos and lunalas in ultra space ? I just think there has to be mor to them then they can travel from one dimension to the next…
What is the purpose of their third eyes? Why choose their eyes ? Where did the idea come from.
And most of all, WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENINF WITH MOHN?!!!!!!
Only things I could criticise in these games are they didn’t tie up the loose ends of X and Y ( especially AZ) Zinnia etc. Or at least not explicitly. It could have come together a bit more, like advertised.
But I agree! I’m thirilled with these games, they’re so much better than I thought and so rich and unique. After years of playing, pokemon felt fresh again. I don’t know how they can top or even match this in future games.
Beat the main story, caught all the legendaries (non-version exclusives anyway), made it to the Battle Tree, and now I’m knee-deep in my usual post-game breeding and item collecting.
I finished Sun and I’m catching Ubs and doing EV training to box full of 5IVs. I am now going to start Moon.
Beat the story. Haven’t started on the UBs or Tapus other than Koko. Been working on the dex and messing around trying to make a good competitive team but it’s so hard and I’m so bad.
I finished Sun and I’m befriending Type:Null. Caught Tapu Lele and tearing up the Battle Tree and Battle Royal to gain BP for my breeding gear.
Currently trying to get HA Mareanie in Timer Ball myself. After HA Mareanie I guess I’ll go breed stuff I like. I can rebuild Assault Vest Azumarill and Support Gyarados from XY (in Timer Balls this time) then I’ll go tear up Battle Tree Doubles.
Not currently bothering with UBs or the other Tapus.
Beat the game. Caught all the Tapus. Putting the UB quests on hold though while I catch some good Dittos and find a Destiny Knot.

And now I’m focusing on Breeding my first OU team for Sun and Moon
But the fun doesn’t stop here
I still need to capture the last 3 Tapu and Necrozma
I need to collect that last Cosmog
I still need to painstakingly acquire 96 BP for the power items and figure out where to EV train and level train which will be a biiiiitch
And in the end I think I’ll just buy all the clothes in the game to fill the all consuming emptiness in my being
I wish I was into competitive battling because for me once I finish the story + post-game the game’s over. I never cared about those battle mansions, towers, etc

Eh it’s a double edged sword. If you take the dive into competitive and you like it, it pretty much consumes all your free time and pretty much defeats the purpose of buying any other video game.
Hence why I said “I wish I were”(not was lol) and “for me”. I just feel like doing all these things that earthen listen are a huge waste of time xd
Oh well I don’t do what Earthen does. I have other people breed *cough* hack *cough* me competitive Pokémon to my specifications. Teams change too frequently to constantly take the time to breed them, imo.

Is the canyon Alola’s victory road?
Unpopular opinion. I prefered the 2*2 battle screen interface over the 1*4 column (when selecting moves). Although I do enjoy the rest of the interface. Especially when you can click on a Pokemon you’re facing and see its typing and stat modifications.
Also Kukui is by far the best regional professor and Hau by far the the best rival. Lillie story was very immersive and it was nice to see other characters involved in the long run.
Not 100% sold on Trials over Gyms just yet, I think I prefered Gyms slightly more.
Also game is still too easy with EXP share, yeh yeh I can switch it off, but that doesn’t make it any different to the Gen 6 games (which could also be challenging without the EXP share).
I think if did have gyms this gen they should have used the z-crystals instead of badges. Same concept kind of but i like the trials although some of them are pretty easy
As someone who’s played both without Exp Share, I’m going to have to say no to that last part
XY was laughably easy due to the Gym Leaders being laughably bad, Lysandre using only four Pokémon, the Elite Four doing the same, Diantha’s heavily unbalanced team, amazing Pokémon being shoved in your face, being able to go on a Mega rampage against any foe sans like three people, etc.
ORAS isn’t much better.
I played all three of XY, ORAS and SuMo with the EXP share on and the difficulty level was pretty much the same to me. The main difference was the difficulty of the E4 which i admit were weakest in XY, slightly stronger in ORAS and pretty tough in SuMo.
That was the only difference I detected.
I had an easy time simply because of luck and that refresh breaks your mons
My whole point is that they’re radically different without it, Exp. Share would make any Pokémon game easy :p

However the difficulty level is the same as Gen 6 when the games are played in the same way (I.e. with the EXP share on)
Eh I wouldn’t go that far. Granted a first playthrough is always marginally more difficult due to not knowing what’s coming but on my most recent playthrough on Y I didn’t even need any other Pokémon the entire game other than Delphox. It single handedly ran the fudging show. It was like in the 80s by the time I beat the game. This game is not that easy.
But yes. Still easy. Cause it’s Pokémon. And cause it’s a turn based RPG so it’s inherently easy if you’re willing to grind with or without EXP Share
I can only speak from my own experiences, obviously not indicative of everyone elses opinions.
I’ll admit one thing that made Y easier was that you were given a Kantor starter, which as a starter was designed to be very good in-game regardless. And Mega Evolution was much more useful in-game than Z-moves ( I didn’t use Z-moves in SuMo at all until the E4).
Overall however my opinion on the difficulty stands :p

The hearts and notes aren’t what it needs. Try Soothe Bell and using any items on it.
Just buy every single item in Friendship Cafe, get a massage and then you’ll be able to evolve it. I did that and it’s a functioning method.
Feed it a ton of berries that increase friendship.

I don’t think they’re using it competitively, so to get out of their way to get the evs back again when they just wanna continue the story.. I might be wrong though

I’m just before the elite 4. Accidentally spoiled who the champion isn’t for myself though, but oh welll. These are by far the best Pokemon games! Sorry Sinnoh, Alola is my new favourite! The story is amazing, the only thing I wish they’d done was make it a bit more about the Sun/Moon themselves and brought it ‘all. Together’ a bit more, I mean that’s what they said they’d be doing right?! Colress has the eyes, the creepy suit which he is typing on. He could at least be part of the family or something. I’d like to see old characters tightly integrated into new stories, as well as the new ones ( Lusamine is an amazing character, love her whole style and character. The way she freezes Pokemon! I wish she’d been absorbed by the ultra beasts though. That also reminds me, there should have been more time in ultra space ! We spent so long in vast poni canyon, they should have invested that time there. Who is Lilly’s father? How’d they get hold of nebby in the first place ?

Eh I don’t think it actually needed to be about the Sun and Moon. The games were never about Fire, Leaves, Golds, Silvers, Rubies, Sapphires, Diamonds, Pearls, Blacks, Whites, Xs, or Ys. The titles mirror themes and aesthetics but they’ve never been the actual story. Which is fine. That’d be limiting and hokey.
I know we haven’t, but I’d like it if there relations to them were a bit stronger. I mean they do represent them… I think they need to flesh out the lore a bit more about where the legends come from, and what do they do with the sun and moon ? Like Palkia and Dialga control space and time, the weather trio sea, land and air etc. I like it when they’re more than just strong and worshipped if that make sure sense.
He’s not actually the champion. If you read what he says. The player character becomes the champion upon defeating all the E4 and sitting on the chair. The final battle is just a formality.
You guys sign up for the global mission in the festival plaza? Just do a game sync on the PC inside the castle and then talk to the girl right next to it. We have to catch 100,000,000 pokemon and if we do, we get like 2000 FC each or something 😀

Already completed the dex and now to move on to my other big release this year. Gotta claim my throne and hang out with the bros while blasting some good final fantasy themes on the radio.
But yeah. Co real complaints about sun and moon. It’s the best game in the series by far and any real complaints I have with it are more things that I wish it did rather then anything really bad. Still though please give us Sinnoh next. I need my wintery region to make up for all of this tropical nonsense.

Still on the first island. Taking my time to rank up Plaza, getting abras for synchronize, catching a few pokémon I want to train. Yesterday I spent 2-3 hours trying to catch a decent jolly rockruff with Vital Spirit in a SOS battle. Guess what? Found out Adrenaline orb is only available after 3rd trial and Rockruff has a low SOS call rate, didn’t pass the 10th in all the chains I tried. Ended up with one with good Attack and Speed IVs (24-26), but really low defensive IVs (which I guess doesn’t matter much for it). btw, Can anyone tell if after going to Akala Island, can we return immediately to Melemele Island on one of the boats to do stuff there or do we have to wait until we get Charizard on PokéRide?

Since a Carbink became Diancie, quite possibly. Though I don’t think Legendaries have S.O.S calls.

I think there’s a limited number of wishiwashi you can catch before the totem though. You get 2 or 3 chances I think and then you’ll have to beat the trial to get more if I remember correctly..

Levels don’t really matter, what matters is the time it takes to get between events.
True, to an extent. I used the Exp Share and had pokemon leveled close to/slightly above the Kahunas each time and still had difficulty in some points. Plus, I struggled quite a bit with the end of the league. However, that could be possibly because I had a strange/not so fantastic team comp…
So, yes, Exp Share does cut down on the grind, but they also made the battles a bit harder to compensate for people that use the Exp share even if you’re a touch overleveled. Now, if you somehow took the time to grind to level 50 for the second island, I could imagine it wouldn’t be hard.
It’s more the problem I had with gen 6 was being overleveled, it’s just Kalos was paced TERRIBLY
That /shouldn’t/ happen now if you use the Exp. Share. The only way I could honestly see it happening is if you purposefully grinded 5 levels above everything. During the whole game, I did minimal grinding and ended up never being more than 3 levels above the NPCs at any given time.
Even so, as I mentioned prior, I still ended up quite sore. The biggest hurdle in the game (time wise) is getting past the first trial. After that, everything is relatively linear and smooth and it requires a little bit of grinding (even with Exp Share) but not a gross amount.

Merciless is useless to me with that abysmal Special Attack Stat.
You don’t need its sp. attack, really. Liquidation and Poison Jab are doable.
I wanted to use Venoshock, and besides attack is pretty low too, it’s a defensive pokemon with a great offensive ability.
Set up baton pass then. Have Decidueye use nasty plot and then baton pass to toxapex

Finished tha main game and the UB search and now i am working on the Pokedex; going from island to island. I have caught everything on Melemele and now onto Akala. Once i have done each island then i will evolve the ones that cant be caught in the wild.
I’m a little behind everyone else. Just completed the first trial. Enjoying the game at a leisurely pace so far, looking forward to the handhold-y bits being over (though I’ve been warned it doesn’t end till you get off the first island).
After the first island it gets better, but doesn’t fully go away til midway through the game

XY’s pacing was too long between Gym 1 and Gym 2 and Horribly short between all others.
I liked the time between the Gyms, it had so much potential for plot set up and level curving.
It was almost always traveling ONE ROUTE. Kanto made you backtrack at least.

Gen 4 had horrible pacing. I was thinking of making Platinum joint with XY, or maybe it’s DP should be joint with XY, and Platinum just above them. Honestly I very vaguely even remember Platinum, it’s been so long.
Sinnoh actually inserts its legendaries into the plot fairly competently and the Gyms all have more consistent spaces between them

Main Sun Team: Decidueye, Vikavolt, Wishiwashi, Mudsdale, Salazzle
Beaten E4, UB quest, and only need one moon exclusive left to complete the dex in Sun. About to beat Moon, nearing the final trial now.
My opinion: fantastic. A little slow to start, but easily the best story since BW. I’d rate it in my top 3 favorites, brought down only by how small the dex is and the small amount of post game content. I’m praying that Stars is a real thing!

just beat sun with decidueye and started moon with litten. splitting my time between a new game and post game. Logged 35 hours on sun on just the story and poke hunting for my team. really impressed with how long it took me
We can argue that Lusamine was afraid of losing the people closest to her. But here’s what I’m understanding.
She loses her Husband when he goes through a wormhole correct? So he goes to the Ultrabeast world and loss his memory when he returns so she leaves him? Or he disappears and she never sees him again. Which is unlikely. Is he still alive or is his presence in the Pokepelago world just his consciousness in a computer programme. The real Mohn was killed when he went through the wormhole?
Also Lusamine doesn’t go crazy cos her children leave her and she feels neglected, her children leave her because they could see she was already crazy and started neglecting them. So is it the death of her husband that drives her to begin neglecting her children and become obsessed with UBs, in a vain effort to bring him back or find meaning in life?

Also, for any saturated (pretty much just animal-baded fats) fats, be sure to counterbalance with unsaturated fats (usually in plants and stuff)

Pretty much. I wouldn’t do it because that is already quite a large investment and doubles are usually fought with 4 Pokémon. 3 of them will solely be chosen for that role which isn’t likely to succeed due to it being bit transparent to the professional eye and the turn investment. It is interesting but you will be restricting your team in the long run in what they are able to feasibly do in some situations.

I understand how much Lillie doesn’t like Pokemon Battles, but she doesn’t have to repeat it every time we are about to get into a trial battle. Well, when she did, dunno if she has recently.
I also believe that the SOS system could have been (or still be?) tweaked. Consuming a turn, if usable any time, or use it after an attack, but has a cooldown. I really miss the DexNav.
I think it’s fine as it is tbh, makes totems harder and shiny hunting easier
Totems could have an exception to SOS, but in the wild, a limit would be nice.
Once every three turns, maybe actually requiring the wild mon to be at low health, etc.
Thematically to Alola, it is a fun system; but it could use tweaking. Anyone can agree with that.

I did it for a long time to find a Thick Club for my Marowak. Also, that’s the only way to get Mareanie, I think. You catch a Corsola (rare enough) and it’ll call for help, and sometimes a Mareanie (its mortal enemy) shows up. It’s a little messed up.

I’m not them, but It’s a 20% encounter in rippling water fishing in the melemele coast, there’s one off the coast of kukui’s house, if you don’t get one, head north or northeast until the route changes and come back.
There’s always one geyser that bubbles, it’s the one in the melemele sea right near the water cave entrance to ten carat hill. So you can just keep fishing it, and if it’s not corsola just break those rocks with sharpedo and enter/exit the cave. It should be bubbling again
also one near kukui’s house between 3 stones that doesn’t require sharpedo, and is easily respawned by entering the border of melemele outskirts.

I don’t really understand how it relates to Alola, it seems way too focused on the relationship between the family, the final battle with Mega-Lusamine was anticlimactic and her transformed body was just like Lysandre’s super suit, we really only got to see Nihilego in action, and that whole other world just looked like a stupid cave. I was expecting distortion world-level coolness and N/Ghetsis-level story depth. Lusamine didn’t even battle with an ultra beast!” granted, I still have to take on the E4, but I’m pretty underwhelmed at the moment. Oh, and the clothing is so bland this gen. Sigh
Well Alola, to me is just a really cozy region and has that sense of family. Everyone knows each other and everything feels harmonious. I think the setting really fits the story

Acerola is Nanu’s niece, which explains why she would be the next one to inherit the role of the Elite Four position, as opposed to someone like Sophocles or Molayne. Regardless, I would have liked to see some former champions in place of Hala, Olivia, and Acerola, as Kahili was a nice touch. Still a fun challenge regardless.

There’s a lot more than that..! The grunts are all failed trial goers. All of their Pokemon with the exception of two, are trial Pokemon. The other Pokemon they use, Drowzee/Hypno, are dream eaters, representing their crushed hopes. The Spinda however, it’s just random coz it’s a rapper and looks like dancing in its default animation.

I’m a bit spooked on Guzma’s though, did his father really beat him with a golf club, or vice versa? But honestly there have been creepier things in Gen 7, like the scary Dex entries of Gengar, Mankey/Primeape, Mimikyu and Mega Salamance.
It’s extremely implied it’s happened before but Guzma did fight back the time he left. Take his dialogue when he loses, it’s quite interesting.

I find it interesting that Trial Captains are required to retire their position when they turn 20. Depending on the age of our current Trial Captain roster, who knows how many will return for a potential sequel. And what happens to them when they’re gone? Will they embark on a journey to another region? Live normally? Perhaps challenge the Elite Four in hopes of becoming Champion?

I think it’s to encourage the trial captains to go for higher positions (e.g. Kahuna, E4, Champion as you say) or move on to other jobs and let others be trial captains.

Seems right. I’ve never really understood how someone inherits the role of an Elite Four member. Yes, you become a Kahuna if you are chosen by the Guardian Deity and yes, you become Champion after beating the Elite Four, but how does one take over an Elite Four position, if at all?
Seems to be the same as “how do you become a Kahuna” since that’s who got invited to be E4… though Hapu got kicked off by that random golfer…
I don’t think she was necessarily kicked off, but if we take game time into consideration, Hapu became Kahuna as the Pokemon League was finishing its construction or when it was already finished. Since there was no Kahuna at the time of the League’s preliminary building stages, they called in Kahili since there’s no predicting when the Tapu would have chosen the next Kahuna.

Dang it! I hope they release it next year and have it for both consoles. Legend of Zelda is for Wii U and Switch, so why not Stars? I’m sure GF will realize about 85% of Pokemon players would rant or feel negative about this sudden change. Save the console movement until Gen 8!
If it’s a direct follow-up to Sun and Moon, it’ll most likely be a 3DS game.
If it’s a D/P remake, it will likely also be a 3DS game.
If it’s a new set of titles (PLEASE NO), then it’ll be on the Switch and involve some kind of new formula in terms of the world and battling style.
No gen has had a third game happen on a different console anyways and all gens have remained on a single console, so there’s a 1% chance of it happening.

-Nintendo needs every reason possible to make people want to buy the Switch.
– It would be unfair to put Stars on one single device instead of making it the final 3DS game.
– The GBA had Gen 1 to 3.

Considering the fact that we won’t get a new game announcement until a few months (or a year) from now, the Switch will likely have already released and the game will be for it.
Or at least on a handheld console that I wouldn’t feel really paranoid about carrying around like I would with the Switch. It’s easier to replace a 3DS than it is a Wii U… I’d just worry about breaking it or getting it wet or losing a controller. And I’m a really careful adult, think of the 10 year olds who will want to stuff one in their backpack. And then if you have more than one kid, but you can only afford one Switch because it’s the big “family” TV console, you only have the one picture screen to carry around and trade with friends, you couldn’t battle your brother/sister with each of you getting a version of the game etc.
And Nintendo isn’t going to tell us anything about the Switch for a long time, so that’s FANTASTIC. I want to know if I should save up for one or not, so I’d like a price range.

Trying to uncover patterns with Pokemon games is such a difficult task at this point, especially in terms of release dates and story progression. The devs throw some MAJOR curveballs sometimes, making every new experience feel so genuine and fresh.

So I loved the main story in S/M! I only have a few things that would’ve made it better, imo:
-Gladion needed more to do. His confrontation with Lusamine doesn’t feel as full as Lillie’s arc in the Ultra Space
-Type:Null to have a bigger presence within the main story! Its UB-destroying capabilities feels glossed over
-Aether foundation and Lusamine need to be introduced earlier within the story. Similar to how they added more Cyrus interactions in Platinum
-A tender moment between Lillie and Gladion would be nice :^)
-Trial Captains/Kahunas fighting the UB’s. We see Hala doing it, and Hapu talks about it, but more cut scenes there would’ve been nice

Agree with all of this. Apart from Nihilego the other UBS didn’t get much attention, and they could have given the story even more diversity. Would have also been nice if we had spent more time in ultra space and got to explore it more. And if Nebbys origins were clearer… I also wanted to fight Lusamine Jellyfish form… Still excellent games, nice to see Pokemon not only embracing the science fiction genre but doing so with such authenticity and creativity!

I know! It was escapist fantasy at its height in that dimension… I actually was a bit dissapointed we could walk in it, like it had gravity. I feel it made it less trippy than it could have been. But got to love it’s music though. They wrote an emotional story this time, not just in terms of friendship with Lilly and courage etc, but the feelings of fear, or being creeped out. They did it in a way it didn’t feel ridiculous and the dialogue wasn’t written very well too! Hats of to gsmefreak. First time I’m not complaining since Sinnoh.

Not Religious myself, but have always loved learning about god/gods and their influence, mythology etc. I hope they tie Solgaleo lunala and the ultra beasts into arceus and the creation trio, Dialga and Palkia are very similar to ultra beasts in that they’re from another dimension.

It was good, certainly one of the better games, but a few missed opportunities.
-It’s cool being able to go into an alternate world, what would have made it better is having that world have the VE Pokemon from that world in it, I understand why that isn’t the case, but it would have been cool.
-With the discovery that there is a cave Identical to Terminal Cave, was the Zygarde collection really needed?
-I expected more from Post game, but that was probably jus twishful thinking, at least it was better than X/Y.
-The only way to get none regional pokemon is the QR code thing, which I found rather annoying, what would have been better is a special island, something like Sinnoh had, where theres Pokemon that aren’t in the regional dex, in extension, a Rotom Dex Upgrade so I can see the none regional Pokemon in the Pokedex.
-Catching Multiple of each UB is a neat touch, means you can trade for the VE ones
-I felt like there probably should have given Mina a bigger role, and her own trial.
-Those blank spaces in several towns with Building materials, they just feel odd.
-Trials were cool but I do miss Gyms.
-I know the reasons why but, it bugs me that the E4 weren’t all 4 Kahunas, I can’t explain why though
-Man when will we get a Pokemon where ONLY the male evolves. Sure we have close things like Gallade, or Male Pyroar looking cooler, but something like Vespiquen and Salazzle.
-I was shocked to find clothes were Version Exclusive too, I feel all the customisation should be available to anyone, that includes both genders been able to wear any clothes
-One thing I don’t mind this time round is the fact that theres not as many new Pokemon, for they all seem to have been thought about a lot, which is better than qauntity, plus they can afford to.
-One issue I do have, related to one a few above is, well theres a guy who talks about creting a Fossil Pokemon park. I wish they’d have done it, Imagine having a Post Game Safari Zone concentrating ONLY on Ancient Pokemon (Fossil or otherwise)
-I honestly thought Colress’ role would be bigger when we met him, that’s not a complaint or anything, just sad he wasn’t, however
-Professor Burnet getting an extended role was great, and seeing Grimsley was pretty neat too, lots of GGen 5 character love.
-Anabel being from Emerald, and so from another Universe, is pretty neat, I can’t help but think that the stuff that happened in OR/AS was the reason she came through, as, counting back, Hoenn was Ten years before Alola, allow me to explain

-I’ve probably gone on too many but there simply isn’t enough time to say my every thought, so I’ll summarise, I’m conflicted. On the one hand, it was a great game, and certainly better than Kalos,I’d still put it after Unova though, B/W felt more complete, on the other, I feel it could have been more.
I beat the game Thanksgiving Day! Really amazing and probably my favorite in the series! I still have Sun to play through, but right now I’m filling out my pokedex in Moon to the best of my abilities. My Moon team however was this when I beat the game:

I had heard that you could chain for shiny pokemon through sos battles and decided to see if I could get one for my last team member and an hour and a half later a shiny Hakamo-o revealed herself to me! Love these games to death! An excellent story with a welcomed unique take on the main adventure!

Ultra beasts can develop friendship with the player and affection in amie, so maybe there is something?
I’m missing the explanation of some character development for example, Hala and Olivia are still Kahunas or they were replaced? Who’s replacing Acerola in her trials? I would have loved the idea of the Kahunas being replaced like for example Hau could have replaced Hala.

Beat it two weeks ago since then I’ve 50% the Pokedex and I’m currently working on making competitive teams.
Absolutely love it! I got the guide book so I’m taking my god damn time exploring every single area, getting every single item I can etc. I’ve never felt so taken in by a Pokémon game in 20 years! I currently have just passed the second trial and I’ve had the game since Saturday. I plan to get to the third trial and obtain Adrenaline orbs before shiny hunting all members for my final team.
I will have to train a lot more before the third trial as I was + 7 levels above the Totem Pokes on the last one and they nearly ruined me!
There’s no doubt in my mind that we will have remakes of the Diamond and Pearl games as well as another game that takes place in Alola (Probably the Switch title)

Goes for gen 6 too: I think you can high fire all the starters (first stage, Chikorita’s is a head bump), all the Eeveelutions, the whole Pikachu line, Togepi, Dedenne and maybe some of the Pikaclones, Latios and Latias (precious!), and more. Often babies and first-stage cute ones. I always have to try it out.
I just defended my champion title for the first time. Got the beasts, Tapus, anything else is just details! I really love the game, Moon, even though sometimes it gets into my skin. Like, why is your character always portraying that stupid smiley face in most situations? Even when hell’s breaking lose, there it is – always happy. It breaks the tension so much! Might seem minimal but it bothered me, yeah.
I also really like Pokepelago, but the Plaza not so much… It could be simplier IMO.
The story though, even the post game, is very nice. Even the lag in doubles and the abandonment of triple, inverse and rotate battles didn’t even bother me. The new pokemon feel surprisinly enough and really, there’re so many so good it’s crazy! They’re so vivid and refreshing, I went through the game with a rotating team of the following: Primarina, Ribombee, Bewear, Toxapex, Ninetales, Tsareena, Crabominable, Vikavolt, Araquanid, Shiinotic, Lurantis, Salazzle, Toucannon, Palossand, Marowak and Golisopod.
I was very upset about megas being absent but I really didn’t miss them, even though I still think they shoulda be included with new ones. Te UBs are fantastic, very different and all very peculiar and interesting concepts.
Anyways! I’m glad with the overall results, even though there could be more to it of course. Let’s see what Stars will bring us!

Currently don’t have a final pokemon and have been flittering between Arcanine (Lv 30), Golisopod (Lv 30), Lumineon (Lv 31), Snorlax (Lv 35), Grimer (Lv 31), Comfey (Lv 30). Also I hate Bewear’s ability so I am debating switching him out. Saving that slot for a final pokemon.
On the whole I am thoroughly enjoying it and don’t remember a time where I spent so much time catching all of the pokemon. At the time of writing, I have caught 91. I have wasted hours looking for some (Bagon/Bonsly/Corsola>Mareanie) to no avail.
My only criticism so far is that yesterday I attempted a simple link trade with a friend locally and the connection fuzzed out. As a result I have been banned from all trading for 31 hours so far (I am still banned). I think this is excessive and has discouraged me from using the facilities.

That trade ban does seem excessive. I mean, sometimes I’m Wonder Trading and the connection gets lost. When they said “for a while”, I thought they meant like 15 minutes.
Yeah it has Klutz. The real Klutz is me though, because I didn’t realise how awful that ability was. I want a fluffy one but I’m a novice when it comes to breeding, and stufful/bewear are really rare in the game so I think I’m going to switch to Kommo’o and get a dual typing.
Yeah I just don’t get it. I’ve read they’re trying to stop cloning and that is why they are banning them for 24 hours but I have been banned for over a day and a half now and I’m still not allowed back on to trade. So frustrating haha!
I bred my traded Drampa a bunch of times to get a male with Berserk and a decent/neutral nature. It’s great if he gets almost knocked out several times and I heal him, since his ability can activate more than once. And I ended up with a bunch of “Drammas”, haha.
Oh come on!!!! I was in the middle of a super long SOS chain and I accidentally tapped battle When my Incineroar was out of PP. Note to self bring Elixers/Eithers the next time I try going for SOS hunts…..lol

Hmmm gotcha. I was just using my entire team in general as all I was looking for was a Rattata. So using status effects and such weren’t really necessary, but maybe sticking to a single Pokemon and just bringing a crap ton of Elixers/Eithers would be better.

Oh yeah I had a few Leppa berries to help out and yes I was using the Adrenaline orbs. Just me not paying attention and doing something stupid. I’m so used to the old ways of gen 6 for shiny hunting that I need to acclimate myself to this new way of hunting. Not being able to go on autopilot is a hard pill to swallow hahaha
HA hunting is way worse than before too. Need something with role play/skill swap. Trace doesn’t cut it anymore… 🙂
I think the problem with SOS battles is that they aren’t particularly fun, but at the same time you can’t go full autopilot on them. If they were fun to do then it’d be whatever and there’d be no problem and if they were easy to autopilot then even if they were boring (and they are) then you could just get through a whole bunch. Instead they’re both boring and you almost HAVE to pay attention not only just so you can tell when you get a shiny/HA, but also to keep track of their PP as well as your own…….Quite he pain lol
Ah yeah, when before we just run around friend safari/summon a horde, check for shiny or if HA is traced…
I think MM is the premier shiny hunting thing now, since it’s still about autopilot too.

Alola will gain Gyms, but the Island Trial will still maintain its status as *the* right of passage: Gyms are for those who go on go be serious trainers,created to filter those who want and are obligated to do the island trials. Will be the empty lots.
Trial Captain and Kahuna changes. Hala would retire, Olivia and Acerola become full-time Elite 4 with permissions from their Tapu.
Hau would replace Hala as the Melemele Kahuna.
Ilima would become Hau’oli’s Gym Leader seeing as it’d afford him more opportunities to battle, and there’s an empty lot in Hau’oli.
At least one out of Plumeria and Guzma would act as replacements for Trial Captains, seeing as Guzma owns most of the Bugium Z in Alola (Mansion) and lives very close to the Verdant Cavern (perfect for a Bug trial) whilst Plumeria seems to live decently close to Acerola’s old trial and has a source of Poisinium (getting it for you and herself).
Alternatively, Guzma would be Hau’oli’s Gym Leader.
Gladion or Wicke would take over the Aether Foundation. If Wicke becomes President, I can see it being due to Gladion being too young or him handing it to her. Cinnamon Roll deserves it.
Lillie will return and we can battle her. Lusamine is recovering, but will never be the same. She herself, along with Lillie and Gladion, would get design changes to reflect where they are now. Lusamine is less selfish and cares less for beauty but still carries hints of it, Gladion is more open with himself and in a good environment, with his own home, and Lillie will be the least changed due to already getting development but she’ll still get an outfit change.
Lillie will get Nebby back or at least seeing it again, with the old player character keeping the Cosmog from the event, or this Cosmog is how you get Solgaleo or Lunala whilst the old player character keeps Nebby.
Along with new regular Pokémon, there would be new Alola Forms and Ultra Beasts.
Some Ultra Beasts have spent so long out of the Ultra Wormholes they have lost all their energy from it, losing Beast Boost (gained from the wormholes) for regular Pokémon abilities. This will only occur for the seven Ultra Beasts from SuMo, but those transferred from SuMo will keep Beast Boost, as will the new ones.
Some Hopes
We’ll see the old player character, who has a default team (Starters/Version Lycanroc (new Lycanroc if Stars is a single game, Midday and Midnight if it’s two sequels/A-Raichu/Nebby) and appearance (boy/girl is decided somehow, probably on-version if it’s two games) which can be changed with Memory Link. (Wouldn’t use your exact sets, it’d use generic versions of the Pokémon you had first time clearing the E4, just with their nicknames to make it look like it).
Zygarde will have a larger role in the plot.
New animations for Z-Moves based on special and physical.
We’ll meet more Fallers from the old timeline.

When I play Sun, I’m sending a Vulpix and a Sandshrew egg over so I can have one for the whole trip without the Exp boost. I was disappointed that you couldn’t get one till you were almost at the Elite Four. I might also send over a Jangmo-o.
In Moon, I traded for a Drampa and raised mine from an egg so I could have one way before then. He wasn’t terribly useful (a bunch of weaknesses) but he was cute and I loved having him with me.
You can get Sandshrew and Vulpix before Acerola’s trial :p

It’s funny because the pink one was probably my least favorite color, but I’d resolved to use the first one I caught because of the Train on commercials. I went on to catch every color but yellow that day, and I think indigo (dark blue) is my favorite. I love them all though, with their swirly eyes.

Okay, so I’m taking a break from Moon to play Sun and catch up…
Moon I’m currently right before you battle Gladion (I actually battled him already but then traded my Lilpup for Bounsweet and realized I didn’t want to trade that Lilipup so I had to soft reset and didn’t save before). My team is Torracat (which is the greatest starter ever!!!), Crabrawler, Rockruff, Trumbeak, Fomantis and Egg (the Eevee egg from the daycare). They are all level 22 except Fomantis cause I just caught him.
Sun I just left Ten Karat Hill and I’m making my way to the Harbor to board the ship to Akala Island. I have Dartrix, Crabrawler, Trumbeak, Rockruff, Munchlax, and Charjabug. All level 18.
I got excited for my Moon cause I’m so close to getting Wishiwashi and Oranguru and they both are on my Moon team, and I just battled my best friend/rival (and sadly lost, but not by much. He brought out his Litwick and I had Torracat and we were both down to our last Pokemon… And I couldn’t use Scratch or any Fire type moves so…). And now I’m pumped and fired up to get my Wishiwashi and Oranguru and rematch him and beat him!

Yeah! It was great. Torracat took out three of his Pokemon… Once my team is all set I’ll be able to beat him. But it was a great battle.

Darkest Lariat is an ‘evolution move’, it’ll try to learn it any level it evolves from Torracat

I find it funny that there was so much mystery about the Strange Souveneir in X/Y and finally when S/M came out we learn that it really is pretty much worthless.

Its obviously the third legendary and judging by its flavor text it may have come from Ultra Space, but long before Cosmog and the others and thus it has become more accustomed to the Pokemon world. Whether it’ll get another form, I guess we have to wait for Stars to reveal that

There is one thing I passionately hate about Pokemon, the effectiveness of Fairy type in battle! Immune to dragon, super effective against fight, resists bug, not weak to ghost and randomly, its attacks are weak against fire. I hate how this type works makes 0 sense except for being SE against Dark type

Bug ~ Fairy: Very loose, but it could be due to Fairies protecting flora (they’re very connected to it, especially in Pokémon)

1) Pretty much all Alola Forms have been self contained to themselves for adaption (no mention of breeding with other species)

AND don’t forget these are Pikachu we’re breeding, they’ll end up as Pikachus but when exposed to Thunderstones these mixed changes resulted in this new form because of the power of evolution
The thing is though is that Pokémon breeding is literally just like that for simplicity’s sake as a mechanic
If in-universe, breeding actually worked like that, we’d have no Alola Forms and no Darwinian Evolution at all.
And even if the changes were small enough to not be a new species, then it isn’t going to change Raichu so drastically to the point it gains Psychic powers without having external signs of hybridisation showing up.

Why can’t I register anyone as a VIP in Festival Plaza? Why is this such a downgrade from the PSS? The minigames and facilities are fun and all like Join Avenue, but the connectivity features are so disappointing.

Everything was right there. This is exactly why I’ve been against Pokemon returning to a single screen format. Joe Merrick mentioned this the other day, Festival Plaza seems like it was designed for a single screen.
This saddens me and actually feels like a step backwards. I personally loved the functionality of the bottom screen in Gen 6.
Even the map on the bottom screen of SuMo is a god send.
This is still just as simple as PSS as far as playing randoms online goes. Go to festival, click battle, click Battle Spot. Festival only adds one extra tap.
Everything on PSS was organized nicely and readily available. I didn’t have to scroll through a long list to find my friends either. I’d like to make my friends VIPs, but the game is not allowing me to do so.
The friends online show up at the top. I haven’t had any problems with interacting with friends in it. Personally I didn’t think the PSS menu was organized well at all, same goes for this. But neither make it difficult to play online, imo.

In the Pokedex different kinds of pokemon are under different colours.
Regular mon have a Blue Background,
Smaller Legendaries have Green,
And Big Legends and Mythicals have gold.
The Gold ones are all unusable in special battle areas and Official Play, but what has me intrigued, is that Type: Null and Silvally’s Background is Green, so, they are Legendary. Though I doubt any site like Serebii or Bulbapedia will class it as such, hell Bulbapedia won’t even say Zygarde is the third in a trio to Xerneas and Yveltal.
I still don’t even consider Ultra Beasts Pokémon
They are, and they aren’t. As they’re Pokemon from another world, but ones like Solgaleo, Lunala and Necrozma are Legendary Pokemon, but appear to originate from Ultra Space, making them Ultra Beasts, at least originally. It is stated the Ultra Space hasa special energy, I’d assume the longer they stay in the Pokemon world, they lose that power, and just become pokemon, and as such, I’dsay they can be called Pokemon, however, you can also think of it like this, Pocket Monsters, and Ultra Beasts, both shortened Terms. So it’s really a matter of perspective.
For now, for the sake of it, I think it’s safe to call them either, or alternativly, Legendary, Mythical, Ultra Beasts, just another kind of Legendary Pokemon.
Totem Pokémon have the same energy as Ultra Beasts, and are still considered Pokémon.

Regenerator is for stall Mareanie.
Toxic Spikes/Toxic + Scald to have 2 choices of status, Baneful Bunker to waste turns, Recover to heal. Regenerator for free heal on switch out.
Actually Regenerator can be somewhat better. Really depends on the build and what you want it to do.
