Mascot Pokémon Showdown: Generation V

Hello everybody, we’re bringing you another Mascot Pokémon Showdown. The winner of last time is Giratina with 56%!
Now it’s time for Unova. Generation V released in 2010 in Japan and in 2011 in the rest of the world. This time, the generation consisted of four games: Black, White, Black 2 and White 2, and introduced amazing features, such as seasons, triple and rotation battles and the Pokémon World Tournament

Pokémon Black Version

black_en_boxartPokémon Black featured Reshiram, the Vast White Pokémon. It is a Dragon/Fire Pokémon that contains almost entirely out of fluff. By flaring the enormous engine-like tail, it can move the atmosphere of the world, which changes the weather.

Reshiram is the only Pokëmon known to be able to learn Fusion Flare and Blue Flare. Together with Zekrom, they were first shown on the Japanese and English website on the same date, which makes them the first two to be revealed worldwide simultaneously. Its name comes from ‘shiro‘ (白, ‘white’) and ‘re‘, which is just a softer sound than ‘ze‘.

Pokémon White Version

Pokémon White showcased Zekrom, the Deep Black Pokémon, white_en_boxarton its cover. He has a Dragon/Electric-typing with small black wings coming from its shoulders. Like Reshiram, Zekrom has an engine-like tail, but this one produces lightning bolts.

Zekrom has the highest Attack, Defense, and base stat total of all Electric Pokémon. It’s Ken Sugimori’s favorite Pokémon of Generation V. Its name is a combination of ‘kuro‘ (黒, ‘black’) and ‘ze‘, which is just a harder sound than ‘re‘.

Pokémon Black 2 Version

black_2_en_boxartOn the case of Pokémon Black 2 is Black Kyurem, a combination of Kyurem and Zekrom. It keeps Zekrom‘s arms, but is much more muscular than it. Its left arm, wing and lower jaw are completely covered in ice.

Black Kyurem has the highest Attack stat of all Ice Pokémon, and together with White Kyurem, it has the highest base stat total of all Ice-type Pokémon. Despite being larger than before it fused, it’s actually lighter than Kyurem. Its name comes from ‘rei‘ (冷, ‘cold’),  ‘kyuurei‘ (急冷, ‘rapid cooling’) and ‘rei‘ (零, ‘zero’).

Pokémon White 2 Version

Unlike all other generations, this generation had 2 upgraded white_2_en_boxartversions instead of one. On the second version, Pokémon White 2, you can see White Kyurem on the cover. This is a fusion of Kyurem and Reshiram. Its right wing, head plume and upper jaw are frozen.

White Kyurem has the highest Special attack stat of all Ice-type Pokémon, and, as mentioned before, the highest base stat total of all of them. It’s also the tallest Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

  1. Black and White completely called Sun and Moon. You will notice that in the Nacrene City Museum, there is a tiki mask that was said to belong to a native tribe, coincidentally, Unova is also based on a place in the US like Alola. Or maybe it is pure coincidence…

  2. Tapu Koko is the ultimate dex hunting pokemon. I decided to mess around with it for a while, and gave it False Swipe, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, and Theif, and I’ve caught so many things with it. I recommend this if you’re going for dex completion.

  3. Two more fudging hours left
It’s one thing for me to work Holiday weekends but when seriously annoying head cold causes every waking moment to be a congested nightmare

But when I get home, I seriously want to see if we can start those Weekend Battle Royales, this week theme should be Main Game teams,

  4. SRd for half an hour to get a Timid Porygon from the Aether guy. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have Trace so I’ll have to get a good Ditto to breed it. Getting ready for my pre-bank gym leader team!

  5. I’m so glad that my shiny zubat is jolly, because all that matters with hyper training is nature (ok maybe egg moves too) so I’ll be able to have a perfectly viable crobat.

  6. Group questions: Which mascot legend for Gen 7 (Solgaleo or Lunala) is the most unique, which is strongest, would you use the mascot in your team or ditch it, and which one would you choose between them? For me its

    1. Lunala
    2. Lunala
    3. In Team
    4. Lunala

  7. All this Fusion talk is getting me thinking
What if one unholy day Gamefreak turns Pokemon fusion into canon?
My only idea that could make fusion possible is that
They must share a type and egg group
their base stats are cut down the middle and added up
    Maximum of Three types
And they are without an Ability

Example, my go to fusion is Rhyperior and Excadrill, some kind armor clad Rhyperior with long Excadrill claws and horns (but the biggest part is on his hand is a fully formed Excadrill drill and it can rotate them)
But it is a Ground/Rock/Steel type
    HP 57+55 112
    Attack 70+67 137
    Def 65+30 95
    Sp atk 25+27 52
    Sp def 32+27 59
    Speed 20+44 64

    Ok that’s kinda shit so let’s hope it’s never a thing…

  10. I hate how people are picking on innocent Alolan Persian, it was clearly meant as a literal joke. I shall defend it with my life! I’ll stop any bullets of hatred! I’ll burn the weeds of disgust! I’ll silence the speech of hatred!
