Mascot Pokémon Showdown: Generation V

Hello everybody, we’re bringing you another Mascot Pokémon Showdown. The winner of last time is Giratina with 56%!
Now it’s time for Unova. Generation V released in 2010 in Japan and in 2011 in the rest of the world. This time, the generation consisted of four games: Black, White, Black 2 and White 2, and introduced amazing features, such as seasons, triple and rotation battles and the Pokémon World Tournament

Pokémon Black Version

black_en_boxartPokémon Black featured Reshiram, the Vast White Pokémon. It is a Dragon/Fire Pokémon that contains almost entirely out of fluff. By flaring the enormous engine-like tail, it can move the atmosphere of the world, which changes the weather.

Reshiram is the only Pokëmon known to be able to learn Fusion Flare and Blue Flare. Together with Zekrom, they were first shown on the Japanese and English website on the same date, which makes them the first two to be revealed worldwide simultaneously. Its name comes from ‘shiro‘ (白, ‘white’) and ‘re‘, which is just a softer sound than ‘ze‘.

Pokémon White Version

Pokémon White showcased Zekrom, the Deep Black Pokémon, white_en_boxarton its cover. He has a Dragon/Electric-typing with small black wings coming from its shoulders. Like Reshiram, Zekrom has an engine-like tail, but this one produces lightning bolts.

Zekrom has the highest Attack, Defense, and base stat total of all Electric Pokémon. It’s Ken Sugimori’s favorite Pokémon of Generation V. Its name is a combination of ‘kuro‘ (黒, ‘black’) and ‘ze‘, which is just a harder sound than ‘re‘.

Pokémon Black 2 Version

black_2_en_boxartOn the case of Pokémon Black 2 is Black Kyurem, a combination of Kyurem and Zekrom. It keeps Zekrom‘s arms, but is much more muscular than it. Its left arm, wing and lower jaw are completely covered in ice.

Black Kyurem has the highest Attack stat of all Ice Pokémon, and together with White Kyurem, it has the highest base stat total of all Ice-type Pokémon. Despite being larger than before it fused, it’s actually lighter than Kyurem. Its name comes from ‘rei‘ (冷, ‘cold’),  ‘kyuurei‘ (急冷, ‘rapid cooling’) and ‘rei‘ (零, ‘zero’).

Pokémon White 2 Version

Unlike all other generations, this generation had 2 upgraded white_2_en_boxartversions instead of one. On the second version, Pokémon White 2, you can see White Kyurem on the cover. This is a fusion of Kyurem and Reshiram. Its right wing, head plume and upper jaw are frozen.

White Kyurem has the highest Special attack stat of all Ice-type Pokémon, and, as mentioned before, the highest base stat total of all of them. It’s also the tallest Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

  1. So Resolution Cave is literally Terminus Cave

Complete with two Cells, one of which is in the place Zygarde would be, and four Orbs just like in XY.

    Wot ye playin’ at GameFreak?

  2. Im curious, how do you guys rank Sun and Moon on difficulty scale and why you think so.
Sun and Moon were easily one of the most diffcult game. I think it was difficult because all my pokemon were very slow or fragile, and any time I got confused it was game over for my pokemon because out of all times this whole game I hit through confusion 6 times, but the challenge was a nice change after Boring ORAS

      • Same. Honestly I really appreciated the difficulty this time around. I found myself actually having a hard time against certain people and Pokemon and it was very welcome. Made it feel like I was actually in a world where there could be tough trainers rather than one where everyone is just going through the motions lol

    • And another question I should chain to this. Who was the hardest trainer/Totem pokemon to beat? Mine was Guzma, I defintely lost to him every battle except 1 battle. Mimikyu was the hardest Totem, That ability and stupid Hypnosis Haunter Ally. I lost like 6 times

    • the game was hard af. Like you said, many mons that i have were slow and fragile so it made the game even harder. And the bulky ones couldnt even 2hko

    • It was pretty easy for me. The only battle I lost during the main game was the Champion battle, and I went into it with only Mudsdale and Oricorio not fainted and had no medicine left. I only used medicine outside of battle, too. Exp. Share off and finished it with levels 52-57. But it was definitely the most fun I’ve had with a game since Pearl. It was probably the best storyline too.

    • I played with EXP share on and didn’t find it very difficult at all. Honestly I’d say it was the same difficulty as ORAS overall. Everything up to the E4 was incredibly easy. Some of the E4 were easy, some could be difficult, mainly due to confusion. Kukui was a little tough.
Definitely harder than XY I’ll give it that much.

I honestly don’t have any desire to play the game without some kind of EXP share. Yeh, I know it makes it easy, but I don’t have the patience to play without it being on.

      • Well ok, just as long as you don’t complain about it being too easy because you do know why and how it can be helped. Lol

        • Well I can complain that I want the old style EXP share back. I despise this new one, but I’m impatient and find switch training incredibly tedious…so I’m stuck having to keep it on the whole time.

  3. One of the hardest Pokémon to hunt for on the Dex is… Mareanie! The damn thing only appears as an SOS to Corsola in two areas of the game and it has only 1% chance of finding much less it calling for help!!!!
