  1. Guys, in the demo, how do you get it to turn from day to night? I’ve heard people say it’s really pretty at night and the music changes, but it’s almost 11pm here and my demo shows bright sunshine :/

  2. Can’t stop playing in the demo, I really enjoy the pokeride feature. Running around with Tauros is a lot of fun! the graphics are also really beautiful 🙂

    • Sniper while fitting flavour wise, is vey situational.
Unless the effect of Laser Focus (or whatever it’s called) last until you switch out….which is OP as hell

It may get something like Chlorophyll (which has been done with Venusaur before). Gale Wings is probably wishful thinking. Here’s hoping it’s not Keen Eye …. trollfreak incoming.

      Reply
      • I think Laser Focus only works on the next move used, which is a bit of a bummer. And Gale Wings I agree is a pipe dream. Personally, I’d hope it gets a new unique Ability, like the Gen 6 starters got

          • If it is also affected by Light Clay then definitely. Even if it isn’t it is pretty OP. I think it will have very limited distribution.

          • It instantly shoots Popplio3 (Assuming these moves actually are for the starters) up on the competitive chart. Now this is probably a stupid question, but does it affect just one side of the field like Reflect and Light Screen, or is it like a Veil that covers the entire battle field that reduces everyone’s attacks?

          • we don’t know if the effect lasts even when the Pokemon is switched out like the screens do. Maybe it only lasts 5 turns as long as the Pokemon that uses it stays in.

Unless I’ve missed something, in which case I accept my mistake.

          • Not stupid at all, I think just one side. If it is for Popplio3 it has that and the probable Water/Fairy typing.

          • And the stats leaning toward defenses. I may replace milotic on my main team when i get back into competetive.

          • It sounds so broken xD If we assume also that it lasts even if Popplio3 switches out, then I’d prefer it lasts 3 turns.

          • It would mean people would use more Infiltrators, Sound based moves and Brick Break, assuming they work like the screens with those. Of course until we see full details it’s difficult to know. Chesnaught got probably the best Signature Move last gen (Although others now have Spiky Shield) followed by Water Shuriken, though with that becoming Special it is pretty much on the same level. Mystical Fire was pretty much trash, Delphox needed better. Hopefully they balance them a bit better with these 3.

          • Delphox got the short end of the stick last Gen in all regards. And yeah, with the switch to being a Special Move, Water Shuriken is definitely right up there with Spiky Shield. And wait, sound based moves go through screens??

        • Maybe something that increases the accuracy of projectile moves (but that’s probably a massive can of worms).
I’d suggest an auto Grassy Terrain ability but it’s not a grounded Pokemon to gain any of the benefits.

    • Leaf blade would be cool. Power whip would work if you dont mind the accuracy. I kinda hope we get a good special flying type move this gen. Air slash is nice, but something a bit stronger but more basic would be nice.

  3. I think as of now my team for Moon is going to be Popplio3, Lurantis, Palossand, Minior, the anchor, and the virus spider (unevolved).

  4. Based on preliminary Hakamo-o stats. I’m expecting Kommo-o to go something like this

    100/110/135/90/90/75

Honestly that doesn’t make it all that great, unless it gets Dragon Dance.
It may get Slack off to turn it into a decent Physical Wall. Could also be a nice Substitue/Set Up Pokemon. Unfortunately its abilities are sub par. I’m hoping it gets Guts as HA

  5. I’m really hoping all of Minior’s forms have a way to tell which is which when they’re in the PC box since I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to collecting Pokémon but it’s going to irk me if there’s no difference e-e

Also, am I the only one not bothered by the smaller Dex this time? I could be done with less Kanto but I was honestly expecting it, and the smaller number helps emphasise the new Pokémon, who actually make a contribution to the Dex rather than 72 out of 457

    Reply
      • I was mostly referring to the regional Dex and not just the new Pokémon, but I do find the ‘quality over quantity’ argument redundant as its literally subjective

        Reply
      • 1) Agreed, Dark still has a chance of being average if the toucan and spider are Dark-Types but Ice just got screwed, I was at least expecting two whole lines like Kalos and Hoenn got.
        2) A bit more subjective since I’m personally not having the issue with Pokémon I like but it’s definitely making it hard for theme/challenge teams using Pokémon only from that Gen

        • If crabrawlers evo isn’t part ice type I’m going to be so fucking mad. I actually really like it and want to use it. In terms for making teams, I’m finding it hard to make one around rowlet while also using ones that I actually like. There are too many good flying types.

          Reply
          • Idk, man, idk! Even if we do it’s doubtful Komala and Minior will get evos. They would’ve likely appeared next to them even if this is only showing one island.

          • I really should just type this in notes and copy and paste it everytime somebody asks lol. Here’s just a few pieces of evidence that I can quickly think of:
            1. Gamexplain found multiple new pokemon that weren’t revealed in the first two hours of the game, none of these look early game, plus they said they found more than 1.
            2. The mysterious 6 can’t be totems, because firstly we know of 7 trial captains, so even if they are totems, the list is still incomplete.
            3. We don’t have the strange souvenir/mahalo trail statue pokemon yet
            4. There’s no horsea or charizard in the dex, despite being a pokeride pokemon and on a statue respectively, and both seen in trailers.
            There’s some more I can’t think of.

          • Ehh to get nitpicky, we’ve seen plenty of Pokémon not in the region on decor (Parfum Palace alone has Milotic and Serperior).

As for Charizard, it could easily just be a Pokémon not native to Alola the ride service decided to draft

          • Fair, but the parfum palace was supposed to boast rare pokemon not found in Kalos. That was kinda the whole point of it.
Alola on the other hand, boasts rare native pokemon, so it’d be odd to go to alola and see a pokemon on a statue they dont have. It’s been said they’re very prideful of their natvie pokemon.

          • It wouldn’t stop them also portraying foreign Pokémon though, it’s like being surprised some random white girl in downtown Seattle the has a photo of a panda when it’s obvious she’d have it because she likes the animal, not because the country of origin has any significance to her.

          • Fine. Take this scenario: A kid new to pokemon buys SM, sees the statue, falls in love with Horsea, and wants to find one. It wouldn’t make sense to have it locked behind a paywall then, they’ve already said they want this to be accesible to new players.

Either way, it was always a loose connection. Say what you want, I still believe we’ll get more.

          • There’s literally a physical Pikachu in Unova and you can’t catch the thing in the whole of Gen V, even when Unova opens up to old Pokémon in the post games and sequels.

And who’s to say the same wouldn’t happen if a kid saw Milotic and Serperior in Parfum Palace?

I do accept the possibility of their being more tbh but the evidence provided just feels so unsure imo

          • Again, why doesn’t it have a totem model? It would still have the aura around it, just because it is made up of several fish doesn’t make it exempt.

          • It probably has really good stats for that point in the game so it wouldn’t need an Aura to flair and boost its stats.

And unlike the other totem Pokémon, it doesn’t need an increase in size as it’s already huge.

Tbh I feel like they’re just going to make the Totem Wishiwashi permanently Schooling Form

          • I’m with you I hope GameFreak has something up their sleeve and give us more I know I’m getting my hopes up but if it’s for more Pokemon I’m ok with cause right now I’m pretty upset because of the pokedex

          • Nah there has to be at least one new Pokémon of each type, even Gen 2 did that and it was also arguably bad at type balancing despite having 100 Pokémon.

          • I wouldn’t call it optimism, I’d call it ‘let’s pray GameFreak doesn’t fuck this up too’

Like seriously I love GameFreak but no Megas when it was a mechanic that could be used to actually give attention to old Pokémon and isn’t a give and forget mechanic like Z-Moves which can easily stay and only be touched up once in a while, as well as the fact it had major plot relevancy really annoys me.

Kinda hoping it’s just become their remake tool tbh

    • You’re definitely not the only one, but unlike many people here, I believe this dex is incomplete and we’re getting more. I’m on the fence about this being intentional.

      Reply
        • Well I’ve got a bunch of reasons. I get that people are starting to accept it, but I refuse to accept that this is it. It’s not just denial either, I mean it started out like that but I’ve found so much evidence I’m 100% convinced.

          Reply
    • I would be more ok with the small dex if they had something to compensate for it like more unique new pokeballs to catch my pokemon in. But I’m not really all that upset because they gave us Morelulls Evo

      Reply
    • You could give each one a nickname to tell you which is which until you have them all, then rename them Minior when you’ve got ’em all.

      Reply
    • Personally I would not definy 320 pokemon a small dex. In kalos with only new 70 pokemon (yes I know) findind two new pokemon in a row in the wild was almost impossible

      Reply
      • It’s smaller than Kalos’, which is where a lot of the complaints I’ve seen is coming from. I quite like it though, makes the game more challenging as GameFreak can control what Pokémon you pick better and adjust the game to it, as well as not making the new Pokémon obscure in their own game

  6. That moment Arceus comes down from the heavens with the 8 Ultra Beasts and you realize Arceus ordered the annihilation of humans for mistreating Pokemon for too long. DUN DUN DUN! 😀 JK, but I do think Arceus will play a role or will be referenced in Sun/Moon. Additionally, the answers from the creators revealed that past characters may be coming back in a surprising way.

    Reply
    • Idk if it’ll appear, but I would definitely expect references…I hope there’s another library. Strange that there’s only one library across 6 regions.

      • The idea that Lusamine and her minions are Ultra Beasts (Ultra Chimeras in other translations) and want to reset the physical world without the existence of Pokemon is an innovative and great idea. Additionally supporting the claim with the foundation’s hatred for Pokemon battling and hurting Pokemon makes it seem more viable.

        Reply
        • I dunno, deleting something becuase you love it kinda sounds off.

Also the fact you can catch them is just honestly disturbing so I’m hoping they’re not humans

          Reply
          • It’s not been confirmed the quantity of those Balls you get, there could be seven of them and they automatically catch Ultra Beasts after a story event or something like that

And even then catching one human or human like being is still all kinds of disturbing

          • So true! I hope they’re not actually humans, but rather come from an alternate dimension and are working alongside the Aether Foundation or its: Aether Foundation VS Ultra Beasts VS Team Skull.

  7. Q: Dexio and Sina are back from X & Y–might we see more returning characters?

A: So yeah you’ve got Dexio and Sina, as well as professor Oak’s cousin n the game, and I think this being the 20th anniv. Project, I’ve definitely tried to make sure there’s a lot of things–a lot of surprises or fun things in here for fans of each of the different generations.

  8. All of my friends have been obsessing over the demo, and it was cool and all, but to be honest I’m getting extremely hyped for the NX again. People are still claiming that Nintendo will have an event on Friday even though it’s Wednesday afternoon. Keep your eyes peeled everyone.

  9. I’ve found something I dislike about the demo. At night, the guy who walks along the sidewalk seems to have a faint aura around him. I don’t know if there’s any way that could’ve been bypassed, but now that I’ve seen it I can’t unsee it.

  10. What are your thoughts on the Mysterious Old Man? After roughly five visits he doesn’t say anything new, but the game still saves. What’s his deal? Besides, introducing yourself as the Mysterious Old Man is somewhat unnerving.
