The article below contains spoilers for Pokémon Sun & Moon.
We have chosen not to publish any images obtained from the demo version and as such the information below is a text rundown of what has been uncovered. The comment section of this article will also contain spoilers.
The demo version of Pokémon Sun & Moon is currently live in some regions and some avid trainers have gotten to work uncovering everything the demo has to offer.
It seems that lessons haven’t been learned from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire and the demo files contain information on some currently unannounced Pokémon and over information. It’s unknown if the demo contains files for all new Pokémon in the games, though at this point it seems almost definite.
Leaked Information
Alolan Forms
The demo contains files confirming the existence of many more Alolan Pokémon:
- Geodude, Graveler and Golem
- Diglett and Dugtrio
- Persian
New Pokémon & Ultra Beasts
- There are at least five new Ultra Beasts, bringing the total to 8
- The leaked Starter Pokémon evolutions are real
- Pikipek appears to evolve into a toucan Pokémon in it’s final stage
- Crabrawler, Wimpod, Morelull and Salandit all receive evolutions
- Solgaleo and Lunala both have a pre evolution/lesser form
- A new Pokémon that appears to be based on an anchor
- A new Pokémon and it’s evolution that were previously leaked by an Amazon listing for the upcoming Sun & Moon TCG expansion
- Another two Pokémon evolution line that appears to be part Bug type
- Marshadow is a real Pokémon, but doesn’t look anything like Solgaleo or Lunala
- Magearna has a form that looks more like a traditional Poké Ball
- Ash Pikachu is in the game and appears to be able to wear Ash’s hat from each region of the anime
- [NEW] The Pokémon models found within the demo are only from Pokémon found in the Alola Pokédex
[NEW] Pokémon Moves
- It seems there are a total of 719 moves in the games, by comparison Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire had 621
- 3 of these new moves appear to be taught via TM
- 29 of the new moves are Z-Moves (18 Z-Moves for each type and 11 special Z-Moves)
- HMs no longer exist and are not available as a regular TM
[NEW] Items
- There are 920 items present in the demo, 58 of which are related to Z-Moves
- A new medicinal item similar to Lava Cookie that cures all
- A new battle item with held effect (like Dire Hit)
- At least 6 new holdable items with effects
- A Key Item that is likely used to change Zygarde forms
- 3 items that are used to change forms
- Bikes and Travel Trunks (an unused key item) are not in the demo/games
- The Strange Souvenir item data appears unchanged in the games
- 1 new type of Poké Ball
- It appears the new ball cannot be bought or sold

Wow so Lillie definitely has a Pokemon. Its confirmed by Ash from GamexPlain, but he is not allowed to say what it is.

Then why do raticate and Zygarde have them after? I’m not saying they’re totem, but they can’t be new pokemon because of that reason.
Between Raticate and Spearow, there is a question mark.
I personally don’t think its the Totems. Why would there be seperate dex entries for regular Pokemon with mere enhanced stats? Doesn’t make sense imo.

Well those two ?? between Zygarde 10% and 100% do raise a question though? Totem 10% and 100%?
Maybe Totem 10% and Totem 50%. Don’t think they’re a trial, may possibly be a Boss Battle, maybe Post Game, or maybe as part of the main Story, say that’s the main legend in the story all along.

Seems like wishful thinking, but anythings possible.
So say Marshadow IS a Fairy type. That would mean that if all we’ve seen is all we get, then all Legendaries/Mythical but the Boxart Legends are Fairy, assuming the other 3 Island Guardians are, and that seems off
I think the other 3 Guardians are definitely at least part Fairy, it would fit the whole deity thing as well
Psychic/Fairy, Ghost/Fairy and Fire/Fairy
I’m sure Solgaleo and Lunala will get alternate Forms that are part Fairy.

All we know is it’s a Unique type and is most likely Dark or Ghost with something. It’s just exactly how my idea for a Dark/Fairy looked in my head.

Pidgeot isn’t bad, it is… it is… ok it is bad, but Unfezant isn’t. Wait, well at least we have Talonflame, and it is good-looking.

Depending on how it looks in battle I might prefer it to Silvally/Type: Null.

I still can’t get over how well designed these Pokemon are. Apart from just a FEW, this ‘dex embodies what it means for quality over quantity. STILL, I will hold onto my belief that this is not the full ‘dex.
Is there a comprehensive list of all the images and info we got from the data mining anywhere. I know the article has some stuff, but I’m looking for everything. Since it doesn’t seem like the demo had story stuff I think I won’t hold back from the leaks hahaha

This immunity doesn’t make sense though just like the normal type being immune to ghost, its wrong
Either does the Dark Immunity from Psychic. It’s for balancing reasons.
I vote Normal. Every Normal type could easily be something else or have it removed altogether.
It used to be grass for me, but yeah, fairy isn’t really being handled well in my opinion.

I love dual Type Poisons, just not fond of Pure Poisons, Toxicroak is one of my favourite Pokemon

Fairy. It’s not for what it is, but for the lack of clear definition of what it is. GF is handling the type very poorly IMO.
I agree. I loved the concept of fairy as the “light” occult to be a force of opposition to the Dark(ghost) Occult. But, fairies just seem to be either cute or pink. :/

I really don’t care, at least I experience the game somewhat before next month :3
I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, it’s only mildly disappointing. If anything I’m definately looking forward to the main game after the demo, because if you put aside all the potential for the story and pokemon to be disappointing, the graphics, music and mechanics are good enough to make it a lovely game
I think there is still a chance for story potential, imo. And the Pokemon aren’t disappointing to me.
So it all adds up to be an amazing game that celebrates Pokemon, I feel. <3 🙂

Not too long, but apparently there are events that’ll unlock after a certain amount of days. So very similar to the ORAS demo.

It presumably doesn’t follow any main game plot, so it’s unique. If you only do the basics you could probably complete it in ~15 minutes, but I took ~90 minutes because I explored every inch of the land and spoke to everyone.
Oh damn you can transfer Pokemon with HMs from XYORAS to S/M, but those moves will nog longer work in the overworld.
Nothing new there though tbh.
