Hey I am having difficulty thinking of what I should name the Alola Muk that I will be running on my team. Any tips would be helpful.

I am not so much for humorous nicknames. I am trying to think of one that represents one of its physical aspects. How it consumed trash to clean the environment and becomes a closed toxic system with various toxic calcifications or crystallizations. Also it’s coloring is due to the thin film interference that occurs due to varying # of layers of oil on water.
On second thought with all of these comments of funny nicknames. I think I am being swayed to your reasoning for naming. Thanks.

The website description is lying. The description writer knows that Grimer and Muk are sentient frozen drinks so he made everyone think they’re toxic oil sludge so that he can drink them all

I am kind of curious as to the origin/ reasoning of that name. As I am not sure where you got that from.
I’m not a fan of nicknames. so, I nick name them without nicknaming them if that makes sense. for instance, my Mienshao is named Meenshoww, my Milotic is named Mylowtick, and so on.
Likewise, this generation I am trying to do it differently by nicknaming my main team to make it feel more personal to me.
sometimes it gets difficult though. I’m not sure what I’m going to name Tsareena…Suhrynuh? idk I will figure it out.
I am planning on using Tsareena on my main team as well and is actually easy for me. Tsareena’s name is actually really similar to my own, so I am really only making a small change to its name (It will still be pronounced the same way) so its spelling will be more similar to my own name.

well, I have all of them…. I’m not much of a reader but I’m making my way through them. I finished the first and am making my way through the second. its very similar to the show (at least the first book was) so I kinda have a “already been through this” mentality toward it. I’m sure it deviates a lot more later.
Oh yeah. Notably the fourth and fifth books. Hence why I didn’t like season 5 too much. Everything about Dorne sucks in the show and so pissed they killed off Baristan Selmy.
I think its good to deviate though, that way fans of the series don’t get the same thing twice. its why I like the walking dead as much as I do, or I probably would have stopped watching awhile ago.
I like WD, but some changes have made me angry. Mainly Andrea. She’s so badass and awesome in the comics. Show Andrea is awful! At least Carol is cool in the show.
ugh not in the latest season. they completely ruined her personality….. I loved her in the other seasons. carol I mean not andrea.
She was great until Morgan came along…okay but her episode where she liked merc’d all of the wolves was badass. The Grove will always be my favorite episode though.
yes it was. I hate that morgan is the was he is. he says “i didn’t kill the wolf, so when he forced denise out into the hoard and they almost got kiled, he saved her, who saved carl” or, you know, you could have just skipped the whole “forcing her into danger” part. morgan is so irritating. I’m so excited to see if they stil have negan offing glen, or if they changed it.

I think the capitalisation just means emphasis. I’m not sure it does change that much. ‘-ium’ is sort of an ee soud, it just seems to shorten slightly because of the u. Think about ‘Palladium’ and ‘Seed’ and it seems more similar.

It would be Mimikyu and Tsareena (entire evolutionary line). I think I would have liked them based on appearance, typing, and ability alone. (That is true for a lot of the Pokémon this generation). What really sold me were their backstories.

It’s not yet one of my favourites and I’m not going to give it any accolade until I’ve actually played it, but so far it’s introduced some pokemon I really like (as well as ones I really hate, more than G6 did).
Desparately praying that if Komala evolves they’ll get it right, losing Komala would be the worst possible thing to happen. If Komala stays or gets a good evo I will put up with whatever horrible stuff they do with the UBs.
komala is the pokemon I forget exists this generation.

I think it has to do with how early it was revealed. and being a normal type when we’ve gotten some nice normal types this gen, with Bewear, Silvally/type: null, Drampa. i’d love to see komala evolve.
Yeah, it was very early, among the first batch. And yeah, there have been a lot of good normal types. Tbh making Bewear part normal didn’t actually do it many favours though, it mostly just gave it weaknesses with a bit of STAB.

true, but most fighting type attacks are physical, and since the damage is halved on bewear for physical attacks, it makes it neutral. gotta watch its fire weakness though, but fire is less common.
Only half of them are weak to fire/resistant to physical because those comre from from the Fluffy ability and it also has Klutz.
… I’m going to seriously doubt klutz bewear wil be used competitively. I will go out of my way to get one with fluffy.
I’m not even thinking about competative, I’m just worrying about getting through the main story first. I’m hoping to take it slowly this time, last two times I blazed through in a few days and completely forgot what happnened.

I love the idea of alola forms (I really like some of them)
however I’m simply just more interested in the new pokémon,
I guess what I wanna ask is,
what are your favourite Alola forms and are there any you plan on using on your teams?
Marowak, Exeggutor, Vulpix/Ninetales, Muk. I probably won’t use any on my team to start with, I definitely want to use them at some point. I really REALLY need a cool new Dark type, otherwise I will likely either use Alolan Muk or forego one of my favourite types, which I’d rather not.
I really hope we get a new Dark type soon. It is a cool typing and at this point it’s just very strange not to have seen any new Dark type pokémon @.@
I really hope it’s not just on Alolan forms and maybe a legendary, I will not be pleased. I am also worried about the Ice type for the same reason. I also need another fire, I’m not sure I can use Salandit if I have to use Alolan Muk and I’m probably choosing Rowlet which counts out the other 2 Fire types outside of Alolan Marowak.
I like Exeggcutor, Meowth and Sandslash.
Mostly like Marowak and Ninetails but part of their typings annoy me.
Don’t like Grimer, Sandshrew.
Unsure about Muk, Raichu, Rattata and Raticate.

Most people are set to complain if it’s just a recolour. A recolour will suit me fine, I don’t want them to pull a Raticate and somehow make it worse.
I don’t like that dark ring/ridge around its eyes. I wanted a straight-up recolour.
(Tbh I’d rather have had ‘snowshrew’ be a new pokemon and have them claim it was ‘related’ to sandshrew because it would avoid the awkwardness of having ‘sand’ in the name of an ice type, but hey-ho.)
I don’t like what they did to the cheeks. Rattata looked promising, black with a mustache, but then they managed to ruin it.
I like Raichu, Ninetales, Marowak, and Muk. I would’ve like Sandslash (who has a great design) a lot better if it weren’t for its bad typing. And as for adding onto my team probably Marowak and potentially Ninetales, but already my team is pretty full

It’s only got two x4 weaknesses and one x2, it’s got 1 immunity, 7 1/2 resistances and one 1/4 resistance. I’d say that’s prety good.
Even so, if the website states it’ll be slower, then it won’t do so well considering it’s already slow, maybe it could survive one fire/fighting attack but probably get decimated on the next turn.
Depends how often you run into fire/fighting. That’s only 2 of the 18 types.

its not as much about the quantity as much as it is the diversity. its weak to the most commonly used attacks in the competitive metagame. fighting, the most commonly seen type is 4x super effective. its weak to fire, a commonly seen attacking type. its weak to Earthquake, the most used move in the game. add all this to its slow speed as confirmed by the pokemon website, this poor thing will not be used. its such a shame, I really like its design.
Oh well, doesn’t bother me, I don’t do competative.

me too. I use pokemon I like, even in competitive. i’d recommend giving it a try, you may enjoy yourself.

Besides, I play more stuff than just pokemon and do other things, so once I’ve beat the story I’ll probably only play to complete the pokedex and very occaisionally battle.

yeah I already have a team planned but I just can’t get around to putting any alolan forms in it yet.
Ninetails, its gorgeous. by far the best alolan form so far, secured a spot on my team instantly.
I do really like Ninetales and Sandslash.

it brings back memories of beating emeralds battle frontier, I used a ninetails on my 3 pokemon team to conquer it. it was awesome, I felt so accomplished.

Not gonna lie that’d kind of a dick move on the fan’s part. I’m sure Masuda wasn’t completely unaware of their leaking, but being confronted like that is pretty mean. I can image there was a lot of disappointment in his voice when he said they weren’t suppose to be revealed yet…….

Sakurai was more passive aggressive about it. Like he didn’t put an bigger adventure mode in smash 4 because subspace emissary cutscenes where leaked before brawl came out. Stuff like that.

I bet if he were in charge of pokemon, he’d scrap the designs this late in development and make new ones just to keep that “wow factor”. He, and a lot of older developers, really doesn’t understand the way the internet works and also that 1) People can just not look and 2) People are going to buy it anyway because it’s an amazing product.
I feel like that’d be impossible at this point hahaha Like sure they have their source material, but at this point review copies are likely being printed and and in the next few weeks retail copies will be too. So there probably wouldn’t be any time hahaha

You realize that Sakurai isn’t old right? He’s pretty darn young, especially for where he is in his career. It’s not an ageist, doesn’t understand internet thing. It’s a pride in his work and wants people to experience things in a specific way thing. Like how GF won’t update the PokéBank till Jan so they can force us into having a more pure Sun and Moon experience.
Now I’m not saying Sakurai doesn’t go too far sometimes, but it’s not a lack of understanding young people. lol
That’s a dumb reason. That’d be like not putting in starter evolutions in gen 8 because of this.

I’m sick on unevolved Z moves (and just z moves in general).
TBF its not like unevolved Pokémon don’t exist, they need attention too.
It’d be better to give the evolved forms the moves though, it’s what we’ll use for a majority of the game. Also they Z move looks shockingly (pun definitely intended) like Pikachu’s z move.
