    • I like this! too bad the battle hall was a joke of a facility. and the arcade. the castle was the best ever though. all in all, hoenn battle frontier > sinnoh battle frontier.

      Reply
      • that would singlehandedly make the game. a lot of people say the battle subway was great, when it was just as awful and boring as the maison, albeit less…. cheaty as all hell.

        • We will get something unique I’m sure (as in, not a clone of the battle tower (i.e. battle maison, battle subway, etc.)) because the backpacker from XY said “we have this facility you wouldn’t believe!”, but then again, it may be the aether paradise (for some reason I want to call it aether heaven). Also yeah, if that happened SM would likely be my favorite games of the series with all of the content we’ve seen. It looks great so far, but I need to know that there’s a substantial, challenging, and fun post game before I can rest. Well, it won’t be long now before we know. I trust the riddler, and he hinted at it, so idk.

          • the frontier is like a gym challenge except actually fun and challenging. I remember collecting the symbols in both platinum, then later emerald. it was awesome!

          • I did it in platinum, and it was so much fun. I also loved the fun environment that the place had, it was just fun to be there. I want them to bring it back more than anything, but at least there is hints:
            – ORAS stuff
            – “facility you wouldn’t believe!”
            – Anabel

  1. Tbh I really hope Alolan Persian isn’t Fairy, no idea where people are getting that desire :s

I mean at least Ninetales makes sense if you think Fairy = Magic but I feel like Alolan Persian would be too forced tbh.

The only Fairy Alola Form I can see realistically happening now is a Flying – > Flying/Fairy Alolan Rapidash tbh.

    • tbh they kinda went too far with fairy type this gen. Fairies are supposed to be mythical creatures that are rare, and, yes, I get that they’re new, but they’ve already passed ice type in number, and that’s not even counting the 15 or so we’re getting in gen 7, compared to the dismal 2 ice types we’re getting supposedly. Plus it’d be fine if the pokemon they were giving the type to actually made sense, I mean, what about a blue jewel makes something fairy? Same with Ninetails, why is that fairy?

      Reply
        • It could be worse. Ground could have no effect on fairy, and fairy could be good against ground. But honestly I love fairies for buffing poison type, but hate them for nerfing dark (WHICH WAS WEAK ENOUGH GF!)

          Reply
          • You do realise that they need those ‘hand outs’ to normalise them into the series, right? Build them up to the same level as the other types and then give them equal treatment.

      • Fairies aren’t really rare in a lot of cultures, in fact they’re quite common, with a lot of minor fae with a handful of stronger ones… Exactly like Pokémon.

Also, Ninetales is based off of a Yokai (practically Japan’s counterpart to classical fae) and is associated with magical power, like Fairy (Geomancy, Magical Shine (Japanese name for Dazzling gleam) and Moonblast/Light (the moon is heavily incorporated into depictions of magic).

Although I do feel Alolan Persian would be taking it too far unless it’s made some sort of mythical cat or a Witch’s cat, but that should of been associated with as Alolan Meowth too.

      • Fairies are not supposed to be on par with the rareness of ghost and Ice, they are supposed to be on par with Pyschic. Now fairies may not be my favourite type but I totally understand why they are announcing so many, any one who thinks they’re making too many seem like they just don’t like the type to me.

        Reply
        • The issue that most people have is that the Fairy Type seems to be tacked onto a lot of Pokemon that don’t really need to be Fairy Type. It’s like the go to secondary typing. I understood in Gen 6 when it was first announced, but now it’s becoming tedious.

…and yes, I’m not a major fan of the typing, but one of my favourite Pokemon, Gardevoir, is part Fairy so I’m not that against them.

          Reply
          • Gardevoir is a guardian angel

Alolan Ninetales is a magical fox yokai

Azumarill is another one I forgot tbh but arguably you could use the ‘it’s an inanimate object/animal fusion’ aspect of Spritzee/Swirlix and loose moon rabbit ties

          • They slapped on the stupid fairy for the green Waifu just for being a Waifu
Alolan Ninetales has no business existing in the first place, Alolan Viariants could be a thing but only if done right which they didn’t
And The fat blue water rodent definitely didn’t deserve to be a fairy, barely a fairy and barely learns fairy moves should’ve stayed Pure Water

          • Personally I don’t think Alolan Ninetails needed it. Azumaril could have done without.
Mimikyu didn’t really need it either.
Wiglytuff would have been better off staying pure Normal Type imo. Clefable was already retconned to Fairy which I can live with.
Don’t think Cutiefly was all that necessary either.

I understand wanting to boost the number of Fairy types, but keeping them rare to start with would have been better in my opinion.

          • Azumarill-Moon rabbit, possibly inanimate object came to life

Mimikyu-More insidious/impish classical fae imitating the appearance of something, spreading curses (like Mimkyu’s apparent ill consequences if you lift its disguise)

Cutiefly-Based off a species that lays its young in another species’ area to allow their parasitic young to thrive, just like changelings. Some insects have Fairy like wings.

Wigglytuff-Even stronger moon rabbit associations than Azumarill, the ‘cutesy fae’ trope

            Alolan Ninetales-magical fox yokai

          • You can explain away all you like…not that any of these fill me with confidence.
I was just sharing my personal opinion and the reason I think people are getting tired of the Fairy Type being tacked onto everything.

          • And I’m just throwing around ideas for why they could be that type /’-‘/

And I’d hardly say it’s ‘tacked on’, I’m sure gamefreak knows more than random peeps on the interwebs

          • We aren’t random peeps
We’re a highly untrained community of Pokemon nerds and we know a lot

We could run Gamefreak is given the chance

          • I’m sure they do. It’s just we don’t know their reasoning, therefore it seems unnecessary to us.
It’s all good and well having a reason for doing something, but it’s also good and well for us to question it.

          • True, true, I’m just sick of people attacking Fairy-Type for no reason. Not saying you are of course, in fact you’re probably one of the most pleasant people I’ve debated with in an while

          • Seriously that’s like the other 50% of me hating fairies
            FAIRY TYPE THIS
            FAIRY TYPE THAT
            THIS SHOULD BE A FAIRY
            WHY ISNT THIS A FAIRY
            WE NEED MORE FAIRY MOVES
WE NEED MORE FAIRY TYPE POKEMON
            THEY SHOULD HAVE MORE BUFFS
OTHERS SHOULD BE WEAK TO FAIRY

All. The. Time. I have to listen to this

          • You could just ignore it ‘-‘

Like I find dragon fan boys really Obnoxious but I’ve learned just to ignore them tbh

          • I mean to be fair, dragon fans never really go around saying that a fire turtle should be dragon, it’s usually only for literal dragons.

          • Ok how the ever loving hell is Azumarill an inanimate object and they whole moon rabbit thing is stretching

          • Just because it has properties of something doesn’t mean it is that thing, that’s a very broad assumption. :/

          • Nice pun. xD Honestly you can defend the choices all you want, but you’re not going to change the opinion of certain people here (including me). Only GF can do that, and at this point I’m scared for my favorite types in favor of fairies. 🙁

        • Don’t tell me that I don’t like the type because I think we have too many. Go look at the number of fairies we have, then the number of ice types, and then go ahead and tell me I’m only saying this because I don’t like the type.

          Reply
          • Types aren’t meant to be balanced equally though, and often fall down the region its based on. Icy areas tend to be bland and repetitive, thus uncommon, thus a small number of Ice Types. In the meanwhile, Normal, Fairy, Flying etc are easy to place in any sort of region due to being vague enough.

          • It’s bad planning then, fairies are mystical creatures, ice is frozen water, yet somehow fairies are more common after ONE gen? I like the type when it’s used properly, not when it’s slapped onto anything that’s either cute/beautiful, that’s NOT what the type is about!

          • And I just told you that they are not supposed to be as rare as the ice type… why on earth their numbers compared to another type are making you upset is beyond me

    • Ninetails should have been Ice/Ghost. No reason for it being fairy. Ghost could have given it cool flavour text. Like the fire inside it died due the harsh environment or something cheesy like that….Fairy is bullshit.

If they wanted Fairy they should have retconned standard Ninetails to Fire/Fairy.

  3. Pokemon GO is so much fun if you are in a city. Like, I played in a suburban area so I just kinda accepted it to be kinda boring but in a city, there is more variety, more pokestops and more gyms! I just captured a gym then watched it fill up with another exeggutor and an arcanine. I wish it was this fun no matter where you live

    Reply
    • It’s fun but it got boring really quickly. I have 3 pokestops directly around my building so I don’t even need to go out, and there’s this huge garden 5 min away with a lot of them (and gyms) and people flocked there in the beginning. After a few days the game became so repetitive though :/

      Reply
    • for real though, ice should resist fairy. and dragon. and be immune to ghost. there you go, ice types have now been made usable.

      Reply
      • YES! Honestly Ice type isn’t that weak in type weaknesses and strengths, but GF hardly ever gives it love. I feel like they put one ice area in each game, give us like 1 or 2 mediocre lines, and call it good. :/

        Reply
        • it is that weak
its ice, not a magical resisting alloy
its frozen water that can be smashed, melted and easily destroyed

why is it so hard to grasp that ice will always be fragile

          Reply
          • Then at least make it a hard hitter. The snowman better be cool, because it seems I’ll have to wait another 3-4 years to see another ice type. D:

          • yeah because you can’t have the perfect wall otherwise it’s too broken, that’s why Evoilte should be removed to finally be rid of Chansey, Porygon2 and all the other annoying walls

          • no shit, you talk about wanting a defensive ice type then pitting it against something it naturally fails to
oh my ice type died to a super effective attack, no duh

          • yeah and the dirt IS EVERYWHERE
a large amount can crush anything, an earthquake can level cities, a fissure can be your tomb as well a choking slowly in quicksand

          • And you can literally freeze to death from the cold. Too much of anything is bad so saying ice is fragile therefore ice should continue to be the worst type is a bad argument

          • well unlike many other scenarios Ice is always be a glass cannon and no amount of gripeing will buff it

          • Game balance should take a front seat to logic. Ice is weak against way to many common attack types, has too many defensive mons, doesn’t resist enough and most ice Pokemon can be outclassed by a Pokémon of another type with ice beam. It needs a buff

          • its not about what makes sense. its about a much needed balance to the game. ice type pokemon really are that bad. I don’t want to vouch for smogon, but their tier list shows only 2 ice types that ever get used, ones a legendary (kyurem-b) and the other is weavile.

        • well, being weak to fighting, fire, steel, and rock, there are types with more weaknesses. however, fighting and rock are such common attacking types it pretty much makes ice as a defensive type obsolete. ain’t no one switching in an ice type to take an attack. fairy and dragon could use the slight nerf, not that they are op, but they are 2 of what is arguably the best types, offensively and defensively in the game. ghost has only 1 type that resists it after the gen 6 nerf to steel, and normal type switch ins aren’t that common to block ghost type attacks.

          Reply
        • well why is psychic weak to bug? heck, why does fighting resist bug? ghosts bring cold chills as they suck the energy out of the room, if you want an explanation.

          • Fears
a insects are very resilient and it would be hard to punch a giant beetle or kick a fly
they don’t exactly do that, it is the heat sink phenomenon where they pull existing energies to manifest leaving a chilly sensation

          • my apologies
i think it has to do with Fighting Types being naturally tough
it’s a give and take kinda thing
Bug’s are elusive and resilient to physical blows
Fighting types wouldn’t be phased by a lowly bug

          • it is kinda wishy washy huh? I never really thought about the fact tat they resist one another. heracross is a boss for resisting both lol.

          • see, you thought the resistance was unknown but now this explains the whole thing to a believable degree

          • I knew that they resisted each other, I just never thought about the relation between them until it was brought up.

    • Inside your mind, when you posted that: “Hey, people are already arguing about fairy type, let’s stir up the pot a bit!” >:D
      ——–
In reality, my problem with fairy type is the loose definition and loose usage of what a fairy type is, I don’t really have an issue dealing with them, because I tend to carry about a poison type.

      Reply
          • are you kidding? who was using moves like gunk shot before this gen? poison jab? only jirachi used iron head, now its a much more common move. pokemon like scolipede and tentacruel are used way more than they used to be.

          • but they’re used because of their nich
Jirachi spams it because of its insanely broken ability
everyone used Tentacruel as a wall ad a spiker
and everyone runs Speed Boost Baton Passer

these pokemon aren’t being called upon just to cover fairies
i’ve never seen a Tenacruel actually use a poison move, same with gengar

          • what gengar doesn’t carry sludgebomb? its the very reason bulletproof chesnaught became so popular that gengar had to start running dazzling gleam.

          • nope, but it wouldn’t be too impossible, don’t forget M. gengar lose levitate which is their biggest strength
all i need to do is survive and counter

        • Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that it’s in, but I want to know: what makes a fairy type? Sometimes they say it’s extraterrestrial, sometimes it’s an actual fairy, yet other times it’s simply cute or beautiful. This loose definition IMO causes it to be everywhere, which is why it bugs me a little bit.

          Reply
          • exactly everyone thinks fairies should be this for a plethora of stupid reasons
like the infamous Rapidash being a Fairy

          • What makes a big type? Pokemon like shackle, crab pokemon but not all crabs, etc are bug types. Not all flying pokemon are flying type. Not all fish are water type (stunfisk for example) so fairies CAN be elegant, cute, pink, mysitcal. They don’t have to be all of those things but they tend to fall into one of those. Heck, there are pokemon with water typing (palkia) that don’t exhibit water type traits at all!

          • Palkia is easily explained by the sheer relationship with space and pearls
-Pearls are found in the ocean
-water offers the same weightlessness of space
-astronauts used underwater training techniques to gear them for space
            –

          • I don’t think that’s the kind of space they are going for. I think they were going for, like, Area, not the actual outer space. that is a better reason for it being water than ive been able to come up with however.

          • I guess my reasoning is how cute/beautiful Pokemon are fairies now, and that used to be a contest stat. I know it’s dumb, I realize that, but it’s just my two cents on the matter.

          • oh I see what you mean. it is a very loose definition. like, why did jigglypuff and clefairy become fairies but not, say, blissey or audino? I miss having togekiss on my mono normal team. if it is extraterrestrial, id imagine the beeheeyem line being fairy…. I wonder if beeheeyem is any good? its one of those pokemon I forget even exists.
