Side note: It always bothered me that they localized Pluto’s name to Charon. I’ve seen speculation that it was to denote his subordinate status, but Pluto is already a dwarf planet and was even not considered a planet for a while. That’s subordinate enough for me.

Hi, my name is Flint and I should have been a Gen I Elite Four BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHICH POKEMONS ARE OF THE TYPE I SPECIALIZE.
I feel like everyone is always complaining they want E4 and Champion that don’t specialize in types though because it’s more of a challenge and then when we get them they don’t want them. That said, I do like his Platinum team better and also there were only so many fire types in D/P.
Everyone was loving the fact that Volkner used Pokemon outside of his speciality, but when Flint does it, it’s a big no no.
Granted it’s probably not the same people….but it makes you wonder.
They really should make the E4 more ambiguous though. Some of them you can sweep with one pokemon and it’s not exactly fun or a good challenge.
I’d like them to be theme based.

Yeh, if you think about it. Gen 1 was technically theme based except Lorelie. Bruno had the tough looking Pokemon, Agatha had creepy ones, and Lance’s resembled dragons, while not being actual dragon types.

Totally agreed. Why does every gym leader and e4 member have to be based on a type? Why can’t we have themes? There can be a trainer who only uses “beautiful” Pokemon. Another E4 member who focuses on speed, and then another who’s speciality is defensive Pokemon. Maybe a trainer who only uses really heavy Pokemon or a trainer that only uses pink Pokemon. Look my point is that there’s so many other things a Pokemon team can be based on besides type and I’m really surprised game freak hasn’t picked up on this yet

Well the actual reason was that they didn’t plan the Pokedex properly and so there were only two Fire Types available in DP, this was rectified in Platinum as I mentioned
Also reaching or not, it always made sense to me as to why he had those Pokemon, so it never really bothered me.
The only real reach was Lopunny and that was just a joke.
That’s what makes him great. It makes for a battle that isn’t one dimensional.

Can someone explain how the power items work when I’m breeding for IV’s? If I have a 5IV and a 6IV together should I be giving the 5IV a power item to lessen the time? But then that raises my next question: Do I have to couple it with the destiny knot? And if yes, then if I get rid of my everstone won’t it be hard to transfer the nature?
The Power Items Guarantee the IV in the stat it boosts transfer to the offspring from the parent holding it, so Power Lens would ensure the exact Special Attack IV passes. You can couple it with Destiny Knot but I think it will still copy Random 5IV’s from each parent, which could include the Power Item IV. You would also lose the Everstone’s Nature passing effect. Hope this helps, I can try and explain with examples if you need them.

Only if you have say 1 parent with XX/XX/XX/XX/XX/31 with Power Anklet attached and another with XX/31/XX/XX/XX/XX with a Power Bracer. The offspring would be guaranteed XX/31/XX/XX/XX/31. Destiny Knot is better pretty much after that.
The main issue for me is that it’s hard to use to everstone on top of that.
You use it after, with the offspring and a Destiny Knot. I personally just use Destiny Knot instead of the Power Items, thanks to Friend Safari and DexNav it’s generally better.
You don’t really need them when you have a 6 IV ditto. Without it, it’d have advantages, but a ditto helps a lot.
For most people that’s hard to get. I recently traded for a 3IV Japanese Ditto I can be certain is legit which I will Hyper Train in gen 7. I currently use a 5th gen RNG 6IV Ditto, it’s in English though.
I just got mine from someone here years ago who duplicated it. I’ll make a legit one in gen 7, when it’s actually able to get one without cheating or getting ungodly lucky.
ok here’s how it works as simple as possible, I think this will be the most satisfying answer.
Power items: passes the holders IV with the corresponding stat (power weight passes the holder HP IV for example), and 2 random IV’s from either parent.
destiny knot: Passes 5 random IV’s from either parent. now, it CAN choose the same stat from both parents. for example: mom’s ATK, Dad’s ATK, mom’s speed, dad’s hp, dad’s DEF. when I did this, my parents often had similar IV’s, so I’m not too sure which parent’s IV is passed. hope this helps.

If the toucan pokemon is real, I may have three birds on my team. I really like Rowlet, so I’m definitely using him, and I can’t pass up Oricorio, and toucans have been my favorite animal since I was 6, so of course I’d use that. It doesn’t matter though, flying is my favorite type anyway. xD

The reason it’s Lycanroc and not Lyanthroc is because the ‘th’ comes from the ‘anthros’ part of ‘lycanthropy’, and ‘anthros’ means ‘man’, but Lycanroc is only a wolf, it isn’t part human, so they stuck with just the ‘lycan’ part, which means ‘wolf’.

It’s all in the pronounciation of Lycanthrope. It feels choppy to cut of the thrope (lol, choppy/cut). It confuses me on how exactly to pronounce it.

It’s probably why they went with it.

It’s because to have an ‘r’ follow a ‘th’ forces you to emphasise the ‘th’ sound to get into position for the ‘r’ like in the words “throng” and “thrush”. Being followed by a harsh ‘o’ (like in “rock” and “ox”) on top of that makes it very harsh.
I don’t think Lycanroc is fluid either though, the ‘n’ and ‘r’ don’t flow – ‘n’ is a very terminal letter unless followed by another vowel. I can’t think of anything better off the top of my head though.
It also sounds like “thrash,” alluding to the feral natures of wolves.

coming here to vent about splatoon lag cuz I trust you all. here’s my situation:
me: mini splatling, fully charged, I see another mini splatling user who doesn’t see me. I unload every shot onto him/her. they don’t die. I literally do it again, thanks to the mini’s incredibly short charge time. nothing.
him/her: sees me after I unload 2 fully charged rounds into him. he simply looks in my direction, and I die. my camera pans to my assailant for a couple seconds.
this is by far the worst case of lag ive seen on this game, but its not the only case. almost always happens against Japanese players. really wish they would separate the servers for everyone. it doesn’t happen every match thank goodness. I highly doubt its my internet that’s the problem, I’m more than sure its the server being in japan. arg, just arg. I don’t mind losing, I enjoy preforming well more than winning, but both are a little hard to do when sometimes the Japanese have such a huge advantage that I cant really do anything about it. its really frustrating. sorry to go off topic I just needed to vent.
