RUMOR: CoroCoro to Reveal Alolan Arbok?

An anonymous poster on 2ch claims to have seen the October issue of CoroCoro, a Japanese comic magazine, and says that the latest issue shows Alolan Ekans and Arbok. They’ve given a few details about it and here are the translations:

  • Alolan Ekans & Arbok are Fighting-type
  • Their abilities are Fighter Skin, which makes Normal-type moves Fighting and increases their power by 30% (ala Pixilate, etc), and Shed Skin
  • Alolan Arbok is light brown and bigger in size than its normal counterpart, but lacks any pattern on its body
  • It is a Pokémon Sun exclusive and the CoroCoro issue also reveals that Alolan Sandslash is a Moon exclusive

UPDATE:

Adding in other rumors from 2ch, newest rumors will be added to the bottom. The Alolan Electabuzz & Magmar rumor was preceded by a typo so I think I consider this much shakier than the above Arbok rumor. It would also leave questions regarding their evolutions as well.

  • Alolan Electabuzz revealed, new form looks similar to the pudgy Shinto god Ebisu
  • Brought electricity to Alola and is seen as a guardian-type figure
  • Electric/Fairy-type
  • Has the abilities Friend Guard/Healer
  • Alolan Magmar
  • It walks on all fours and is covered in vines; covered itself in vegetation as a way to survive in the jungles of Alola
  • Fire/Grass-type
  • New ability that reduces the effectiveness of its opponents attack when it switches to a teammate in battle (teammate will take less damage when it switches in)

Furthermore, one of the posters has promised to post pictures of the issue tomorrow at 7PM Japan Standard Time. Hopefully they’re telling the truth 😉

    It says Alolan Electabuzz
    and we have seen a normal Electabuzz fight Komala in a trailer so thats deconfirmed

    • As much as I don’t like the idea I am too smart to not explain that these where made to fight that Pokemon there is no concrete evidence that a form exists based on visual effects
      There could be Alolan Arcanine or whatever despite placement in trailers it could easily be just a non Alolan variant and one could still exist

      Same goes for Cubone as they could’ve easily shown a regular Cubone evolving then skip to a frame as a A Marowak

  2. why would we get a cobra that is a fighting type and not poison ? I get that they dont want to make a lot of new pokemon but they could give alolan forms to other pokemon from other gens..this game seems to be full of a lot of things and my biggest fear is that they will left all these un explained just like how they did with the mega evolution, they throw it at our faces and before they even tell us why this exist or where mega stones came from they came up with the Z moves, and rumors say that we will no longer need key stone or mega stone to perform mega evolution, they are starting to sound a bit confused now.

    Ok, I don’t know THAT much about biology, but I don’t think that’s how jungles work. If I decide to go to the Amazon, I don’t think covering myself in vines will protect me from the dangers of the jungle. Unless of course the description meant that it is a natural camouflage that made parts of its body look like vines instead of covering itself with ACTUAL vines. But I don’t think this is real lol.

  4. I just saw something good on Bulbapedia it states in trivia under Mega Evolution that Flygon going to have a Mega so maybe it will get it or an Alolan Form this time!

  7. I think this rumor is just riding on the assumption that all Red/Blue version exclusives are getting Alolan forms. It’s a good theory, but I also find it strange that there aren’t outliers like Exeggutor, and there’s no mention of Rockruff, which is confirmed to be in this issue.

  20. Why does this site always come under fire for posting rumors? Heaven forbid a website post the exact content it’s known for and that it’s true fanbase appreciates. Anyone with even the smallest iota of a brain can see that all the precautions are there to prevent readers from believing these rumors fully, and yet people feel the need to tell PJ how to run HIS website to THEIR specifications.

    • 4chan will be 4chan. Once there is a negative stigma attached to something, they will never let go. So I’m not concerned about backlash at all. I’m more concerned about all the spam, to be honest.

      • It’s not just 4chan making me mad though; I know they’ll never change. But what really got me started was Joe Merrick criticizing Paul on Twitter. When you’re as big as Joe, all your opinions suddenly become your fans’ opinions, and that’s just bad rep on our side.

          • I still have some respect for Joe for dealing with various things over the years, but I’m really starting to take notice of how misplaced some of that respect really is.

          • Yeah he just always comes off snobby. Like he ALWAYS know better. And then when he’s wrong about something he acts like it’s nothing, but when he’s right it’s an opportunity to tear down everyone who isn’t in full support of him.

          • When it comes to that, what makes Serebii better than Bulbapedia? I actually like going to Bulba cause it seems so neatly informative. Not a fan of the former.

          • Bulbapedia is a mess. I avoid wikis as much as possible. They feel cluttered and messy with uneccesary info for what I need. Moves and stats are listed neatly on Serebii, you have to scroll through a crap ton of Manga, anime, and VG trivia just to get to stats.

          • C’mon though, we need to be the bigger person. Next thing you know someone is going to call out the PJ community for hating on Joe, so let’s just give it a rest, alright? 🙂

        • I wasn’t aware that had happened. I’m even more surprised by that after the little incident in which 4chan leaked the Alolan Raichu trailer. That guy was subject to ridicule for at least a week for his remarks that 4chan is always wrong. So, under the slim chance that these new leaks are real, he is setting himself up for further embarrassment. It would be better to stay silent.

          • Some person posted stills of the new trailer (along with a webm of Wishiwashi) on 4chan a day before it was released. Nobody really knows who could have posted it, but 4chan was where it originated.

          • Sometimes it’s hard to tell. They definitely have a frenamy kind of relationship, but he can be pretty nasty sometimes

          • Yeah, I just sorta recall some sort of exchange not too long ago where Joe said something along the lines of “I just had to” after he made a shady remark

    • And the most annoying thing is that people compare Serebii and PJ as if they should be the same. There is a huge difference between the two sites. PJ does post confirmed stuff of course, but rumors are also posted simply to raise discussions between the audience. It’s a discussion-site, not a fact-site.

    • Its very stupid indeed, people are just being whiny and aren’t understanding this website. Pokejungle is here to have a community that explores leaks and rumors, this website is innocent and isn’t there to cause harm.

      • I can understand that, I just feel like based on what kind of pokemon Tapu Koko is (Hinted by the line: “Despite that, this Pokémon has a strong sense of curiosity. If it becomes interested in a person or in other Pokémon, it may come to play or battle with them.”) I feel like it’s rather fitting. But than again, maybe the other guardians will be entirely different

        (And than again, this isn’t the first time we got an unfitting theme XD)

  24. well they did make a fighting crab and a sassy af Meowth so anything is possible. Plus it makes sense that arbok gets the fighting type because it’s supposed to be able to beat a rodent (Sanshrew is based on a rodent thing and snakes it them soooo….?).

  25. Ok, no. I really want this to be fake. I want corocoro to just be starter evos and Rockruff evos. I mean, they are revealing its evolutions so it’s very likely that the starters are there too. These alolan forms fill up too much
