    • I wish gym leaders and E4 would show up more often when there’s a major threat instead of just letting a legendary trash things.

Also I can never get over how gruff Ash’s voice is in the original.

        • Well the anime stretches the truth a bit
But the fact is all of garchomp’s entries clearly state it can fly, but i see it more as a low altitude burst of speed and temporarily gliding
but putting Garchomp’s agility and body structure one could easily see it leaping into the air like a jet and rapidly bursting back down

          Reply
          • Great explanation and if you examine the animation for Garchomp VS actual flying critters, the animation differs very slightly as Garchomp is very much like Hawlucha where he glides in bursts of speed as opposed to actually flying in the literal sense.

          • Yeah, the pokedex entry specifies that it has to fold up its body to do so, so the anime is (yet again) stretching things.

          • well that’s not entirely true either
“When it folds up its body and extends its wings, it looks like a jet plane. It flies at sonic speed.” it merely resembles one not stating that it has to

  1. Hopefully with all the celestial body and alchemic references Sun and Moon will delve deeper into the Pokemon Universe. This already seems to be the case judging by the appearance of Ultra Beasts who may or may not be classified as Pokemon and could be the game’s equivalent of aliens invading the Pokemon world. I don’t know, but that would be a cool concept.

  2. I recently watched a video uploaded by PixPlays which suggests that Jangmo-o could potentially be based off the Hawaiian mythical creature Mo’o or supernatural lizard, dragon, etc… Now, the interesting aspect about the Mo’o resides in its drastic differences depending on gender: females are shape-shifters who often appear as beautiful maidens or water dragons whereas there isn’t much information regarding males… Anyways, it would be very neat if the final evolution was a split evolution depending on the gender of your Jangmo-o and the typing, abilities, and move-pools differ drastically to reflect the legends of the Mo’o.

          • Unown, snivy line, many bird pokemon, klink line, axew line, hydreigon line, honedge line, litwick line, chikorita line, type:null(dont know if it counts as it has a “helmet”), many legendaries and those are just some that i can remember right now the list could go on and on as there are many more but i aint going to mention all of them xD

          • I think birds and snakes have inner ears.
            I assume dragons would too.
The steel types, unown and litwick makes sense.
            I expect Type: Null does.
            Chikorita is ambiguous.

Anyway. Jangmo-o has that heart thing, it might act as a shield or sound canceller.

          • Exactly lizards do have inner ears so jangmo-o should too but like you said the scale thing might work as a sound repeller so now i can kind of see why it has soundproof haha

          • Typically there are two major types of sound cancellers. One works by being in a particular shape (I think it’s corrugated or something) that prevents sound waves from passing through. The other works by detecting the sound and then calculating and emitting the opposite wave, which cancels out the original sound. Either of which the heart thing might be able to do.

Besides which, how does Mr Mime have soundproof?

Abomasnow has fur that muffles sound, Bastiodon has a wall that could act as a sound wall, Exploud can do the sound playback thing, presumable Electrode just doesn’t have ears or something, and Bouffalant has thick wool.

          • Sidenote: I originally wanted Bouffalant to be an evolution of Tauros because I once designed a fakemon that was supposed to be an evolution of Tauros and it was a Buffalo.

          • Im guessing mr mime uses his magical mime walls to make a soundproof box around him and im guessing jangmo-o uses the first type of sound cancelling as i cant see that scale emitting opposite sound waves to cancel others

          • Maybe. That or it’s got some magic silencing ability because it’s a mime maybe. It makes sense but at the same time it feels too much like it’s been pulled from thin air 😛

I was thinking it might do the latter by making the heart beat/pulse to emit counteractive soundwaves. Could be either.

  3. Thank Arcues we have interesting, non-bland, and polar opposite-esque characters this time around. I honestly only remember Shauna and Serena from your little squad you had going on in XY. Lillie is mysterious, doesn’t like battles, and probably has a very deep past. Gladion is very much like Lillie in regards to Pokemon battles, but no matter his view point, if it is for the betterment of making the world “better” from his stand point, he will disregard that. Hau is very much like Barry, but seems to be more strong-willed, less annoying, and seems real (for lack of a better word) as if he were an actual person you could hang out with in real life. Of course this is pure speculation based off of the minimal information we’ve received, but I like the fact that GameFreak is already establishing a way to differentiate the characters and make them stand out and memorable. To this day I still have to Google the other two boys’ names… Trevor and Tierno…

    Reply
    • Tierno the dancing maniac is underappreciated.
I pray he one day becomes Mirror B’s apprentice.

I preferred Tierno to Shauna, Shauna was creepy.

I think the live action adverts are supposed to be a metaphor for the player and Hau.

  4. So bouncing off of what someone posted a little bit ago, if you lived in the pokemon world, what would your team of 6 be? (+1 Legendary) Where would you live (Region, Town), What would your trainer class be?

Croconaw(Or Popplio3 if it ends up being real)
    Lurantis
    Mimikyu
    Lopunny
    Meowstic
    Gardevoir

    Legendary: Shaymin or Lugia

I would live in Ecruteak City and I would be a Beauty (XY)(oknoimnotbraggingimnotthatprettyilikethedesignandthepokemontheytendtouse)

    • I already posted mine, but oh well.

I would be born in Twinleaf Town, Sinnoh to Pokemon breeders and help around the house and with my parents’ work. However, unlike them, I would want to become a Pokemon Trainer. My partner or ace Pokemon would be a Budew I’ve raised since it was an egg and along the journey will evolve into a mighty, loyal Roserade. My dream would be to become a Gym Leader or Elite Four member.

      – Roserade
      – Eevee
      – Honchcrow
      – Glameow
      – Lopunny

      P.S: No legendary for me.

    • I think most pokemon would be hard to live with or take care of because of their weird features. For example you could get poisoned by an ally poison pokemon.

Also it depends if I’d be battling or living quietly because if I were battling and out to be a tough trainer I’d pick a team based on their power rather than how easy they’d be to live with, but if I were just trying to live an every day life I’d choose a different set of pokemon.

    • (I’ve really over-thought this)

Let’s assume I’m living a normal life and I work either as a researcher or a programmer (someone’s got to keep the PC systems and pokedexes running).

Despite my love of Hoenn I’d probably live in Alola because I think it has more
variety than other regions and looks reasonably easy to traverse. I’d
probably live in a hut on a beach (not for the reason people probably
expect though), but possibly more inland.

      For my pokemon I’d want:

-Komala, because I’m a terrible sleeper and it would be cool to have one clinging to my arm.
-Espeon, because it’s cat-like and psychic and reminds me of a nekomata
-Slowking, the second in command, to be in charge when I’m not around and to discuss ideas with
-Alakazam, another intelligent pokemon its memory will help me keep track of what I need to do and its psychic powers will be useful for jobs around the house

-Dragonite, my main method of transport and capable of running errands
-Delibird, can use its icy powers to keep everyone cool on a hot day and is perfect for delivering messages and collecting food/goods from town

There are many others I’d also like though, but we’re only allowed 6.

Special mentions: Skitty/Delcatty, Purrloin, Metagross, Politoed, Smeargle

For my legendary I’d choose either Solgaleo (because it’s a Lion :3), Mewtwo (because I can sympathise with it) or Deoxys (because of its intellect).

    • Some people are giving background on them so here is mine.

I would probably be a researcher of myths and legends in my downtime. But for the most part I go about my daily life pretty normal. Battling pokemon, doing contests, and playing video games. I would take a yearly vacation to Alola (Hence the alola pokemon in my team).

      • My background would be that my grandma was a breeder and gave me Forrest telling me it was a special and unique snivy (which by that she meant it had contrary) but i wasnt fond of battling because i had school work and such so i kept forrest as a pet and partner.
One day the school had a road trip to the local gym, Opelucid city’s dragon type gym. There, Drayden wanted to make a demonstration of what battling a gym leader is like so he asked for a voluntary and he chose me. I was obviously nervous but Drayden said he would go easy on me. I somehow manage to win with Forrest and Drayden is surprised so invites me to train with him and i accept.
There I discover that the power of each pokemon and how they use it is intriguing so I decide to head out and explore the world to find the different strenghts of pokemons, which is why i stay more time in alola and kalos, to learn more about z-moves and mega evolution respectively.
I also collect the gym badges or the equivalent challenge in that region along the way of my journey to find the answer of how pokemon can be such powerful creatures!

    • After i beat the unova league i travel to alola as its part of the same country as unova(maybe) and there i meet sina and dexio, after i finish my travels around the alola region they invite me to kalos so that i can meet sycamore amd he can congratulate me in person for finding some zygarde cells(though not all and i couldnt find a core) after that i thought of traveling kalos, after some time i get to shalour city where i get intrigued by mega evolution and its capabilities so i decide to stay a little while in the tower of mastery and train. There i recieve my mega accesory which looks like zinnia’s dragon themed one but mine would be a bracelet that goes on my arm and is gold in color, my mega would differ per region unless mega serperior gets introduced so i cant really think of what would hold the mega stones on my pokemon right now and as for a mega evo battle cry idk what that is but im guessing that its what i say before mega evolving them which would also differ depending on the situation and pokemon but most of the time it would be something like “Ok lets do this, I know we can!”

    • My accessory is a bracelet my mother use to wear for good luck when she was a young trainer. She gave it to me to help me in the Kalos League. One day I run across a society that are masters of mega evolution. I heard of it before so I wanted to know if they can grant me the power to do it as well so I can be a stronger trainer. But they told me it’s not that simple. They told me to take my Swampert and enter this cave of darkness and mist. It was a trial everyone in that society go through to test a trainer and pokemons bond. It was easy to get lost and you both can be separated in there, but if your bond is strong you’ll find each other and your way out. We both succeeded and they gave me a keystone and Swampertite. I asked them to attach my stone on my good luck bracelet, and they gave my Swampert an arm bangle and attached his stone to that. So now as our bond helped us get stronger, and in turn, unconciously whenever I activate mega evolution these words ecape my lips “Our bond becomes strength. Mega Evolve!”.

    • I’ve got my keystone on a ring (like Lysandre) because it’s more practical. I acquired it from Steven Stone, whom I semi-regularly communicate with due to the Devon corp.’s interest in my work.

I’ve currently only got one Pokemon capable of mega evolution but intend to acquire another at some point. My Alakazam wears its mega stone on a necklace.

I don’t tend to use a battle cry because I’m more of a strong silent type who believes actions speak louder than words when it comes to being intimidating. Occaisionally I’ll make a witty remark and smirk before activating the stones.

    • I found my keystone from Geosenge Town, nailing a good price with Gurkinn, who was visiting there at the moment. I wear the Keystone on my sunglasses. I got my Charizardite Y from getting stranded on a Mountain and then encountering it as I was making my way through it, and Charizard wears it on his wrist like a bracelet. My battle cry would be: “We’ve come this far Charizard! Now I call upon the power stronger than evolution, Mega Evolution!!!”

      Reply
    • My keystone was given to me by a man I battled against years ago. When we battled I didn’t stand a chance. He sent out his Tyranitar as I sent out my ace charmeleon. We fought as hard as we could, but his Tyranitar was too strong. After that battle he said to come to him when I’m stronger. So I got stronger and soon I bumped into him again but this time with my Charizard. We almost beat him until he used the strongest of all evolutions. Mega evolution, and he beat us once again. But after the battle he told me to have the key stone. I never saw him again. I decided to place my keystone onto my sunglasses as it were quite convenient and I could shield my eyes from Charizard’s bright tail-flame. Our cry is “we must get hotter than fire, stronger than evolution, Mega evolution!!!!”

      Reply
    • My Keystone was given to me by a sweet old woman as I was crossing the Sky Arrow Bridge. My garchomp and I looked at it, then turned to each other and laughed because we don’t need stupid gimmicks to win battles. The little stone went straight into the water, along with her corpse.

    • In my case, I found the stone while on a walk through the mountains. My Honchkrow had founded and decided to gift it to me. I carry the keystone in a necklace made out of nevermelt ice that was shed by a Regice. My mega stone is held by my Altaria in it’s cottony wings. My cry would be something like
“The peak of the crescendo has arrived! Hear my voice and end the piece! My final note? Mega evolution!!!”
