            My schools/college never bothered with terms like that.
            (I Presume it’s the same in the rest of the UK, but could be wrong.)

          • It’s pretty straight forward

            Primary: Early Years (4-5s) (effectively Year 0), Year 1 (5-6s) – Year 6 (10-11s)

            Secondary: Year 7 (11-12s) – Year 11 (15-16s)

            Everyone followes a uniform syllabus up to Year 9 where people are grouped by ability and given a few limited choices (e.g. whether to do 1 or 2 foreign languages)

            College: Pretty much unlimited and any age group, but typically at least 2 years from 16 to 18. As long as you have the appropriate secondary qualifications (or equivalent if you’re older) you can do pretty much any course you want.

            Don’t know anything about university, but some people go on to do that (it’s effectively a 4th stage of education in some ways).

            We had a prom in secondary school that not everyone decided to go to and everyone does school plays (i.e. theatre type stuff) in primary school, but apart from that there’s not much formal stuff beyond the weekly assembly in the first two stages and the occaisional parents evening.

            No hats and gowns, no dances or discos, no mandatory extra curricular activities of any kind.

  8. So I’ve been looking at the pokemon announced so far and also at the releases throughout pokemon’s history… As many (all?) of you know, we’ve never been given every new pokemon and all of their evolutions up front before a game’s release (not counting ME’s in ORAS).

    However, we still have around three more trailers to expect (one on the 14th, two in october, possibly more if you want to be optomistic). While I expect we will get more new pokemon, like a dark and ice type for goodness sake, we can also expect some evolutions to be revealed for the new ones.

    Here’s what I think will be revealed by the game’s release (not counting data mining, leaks, etc.):

    Starter mid evos at least.
    Pikipek’s final evo (much like talonflame was revealed before fletchinder)
    Rockruff’s evo is confirmed to be announced VERY soon.
    I also think Cutiefly’s evo will be officially announced either in coro coro or on the 14th.
    Wimpod’s evo.
    Morelull’s evo.
    Whether or not crabrawler/ tortunator will have evos/prevos.
    Maybe salandit’s or komala’s. Not both.

    The others I think will be kept secret.

    • For a moment I thought this was going to be a theory about the game. Thank god it wasn’t, I’ve been enjoying the break from all that drama 😛

      I agree with pretty much everything, but I’ve got a horrible feeling they might try to make Komala be a single form pokemon. I’m hoping it’ll have an evolution. I’m expecting just 1 evolution but 2 would be nice too.

      Crabrawler and Tortunator give off a single form/version exclusive vibe to me, but I could be wrong.

      Cutiefly’s evo is likely to be revealed in corocoro because that’s what they did with Bewear, Mimikyu and Rockruff (or at least 2 of those 3 I think).

      Expecting evolutions to come later rather than sooner, particularly the starters. I’m half thinking they’ll hold back because of the leaks, but also that they might not reveal the final forms because they want people to take a leap of faith and grow to love their pokemon in the hopes people’s attachment to the pokemon will overrule their feelings about the final form.

        • It’s not just that, it’s the massive cognitive leaps people attempt when theorising about the story instead of applying a bit of Ockham’s Razor.

          What I like about your guesses is they are actually basing some of the theory on things that have already happened (e.g. the earlier corocoro leaks) and looking at some of the less popular pokemon and evolutions for the new pokemon rather than focusing on the starters or trying to guess any alolan forms.

          • Thanks! I try to base my evo predictions on other Pokemon with similar looks or categories (such as komala probably getting one evo because 1. It’s very small and not gimmicky enough to stay standalone and 2. All the other bears got one evo.)

            Also, gamefreak loves themes among lines (such as feebas to Milotic i.e. Beauty and ugliness.) so Whimpod will likely evolve into a brave creature, hopefully two evos.

            I forgot to say that minior will likely be shown.

            While I think almost every Pokemon is likely to evolve so far (just not all revealed before hand) there statistically needs to be some standalones (such as crabrawler or tortunator which could also have prevos) and then likely some surprise standalones for people (like maractus, carbink, etc. that are in my opinion too weak and cute to stay standalone.) a seventh gen Pokemon that fits this is Bruxish. Just big enough and designed precisely enough to stay stand alone, great ability, and would surprise a lot of people.

          • Yeah, they do have noticeable patterns.

            Only thing that makes me think Komala could have more than one evolution is Slakoth, but that might be a stretch, hence it’s my backup theory and not my main theory.

            Yeah, Wimpod has to end up brave in a later form.

            Yeah, I’d expect Bruxish to stay a single form because it’s similar to Luvdisc. It’s kind of obvious Wishiwashi is because of its ability.

            I think Minior might be a single form because of its different colours, but I could be wrong, it might end up being a Burmy-Wormadam situation.

            Carbink was completely pointless other than to enhance Diancie’s story. They should have given it an evolved form that looked closer to what Diancie is and said Diancie is a mutation of that.

            Maractus I could imagine getting a tough looking evolution. On its own it looks kind of bland, I almost never catch more than the one I need for the pokedex.

          • Wishiwashi also appears as a totem so he’s probably a final form. Overall, I agree with anything. Minior definitely throws me for a loop.

    • I don’t use nicknames personally, but I’m usually quite good at creating them if anyone gets stuck. I tend to prefer portmanteaus though.

      I have opinions about the nicknames you chose but I don’t like discussing nicknames anymore since that one time I told someone I didn’t like the nickname they had chosen and suggested some better ones and some other people tore into me for it.

          Minuet makes me think of the Minuet Of Forest from Ocarina Of Time. It’s original meaning is pretty much fine if the leaks are true, but anyone who’s played Zelda and doesn’t know what a Minuet actually is will get confused.

          Rosa = Pink, so neat. Probably my favourite, and not just because of the pokemon it’s for XD

          Everest is a bit of an odd one because it’s actually quite green on some parts. Winter’s fine. (Sidenote: Vulpes Lagopus is a funny species name).

          Crimson will work fine if Pikipek’s evo ends up red, otherwise that might end up a bit odd.

          Sally’s a bit obvious. It’s alright but it’s not particularly impressive either.

          I don’t get the Rowlet names. Olive branch/peace and a female royal title.

            Rowlet’s name is based on Oliver Queen, the real name of Green Arrow

          • I’d have been tempted to go with Serenade because of the Serenade of water and because serenades are supposed to be ‘sung directly to one’s love interest’, which fits the siren theme.             Yeah, Salandit is hard because there are no famous legendary salamanders like there are dragons/fairies. Best I could come up with is ‘usodela’ from the scientific order ‘urodela’ and the Japanese word for lie ‘uso’.

            Ah, that makes sense. My knowledge of superheroes is still limited, particularly the DC ones (I’m better with Marvel). I feel sorry for the Green Arrow, his normal name is weird. Upon reading his bio though, it’s fitting.

          • I can play a few on piano/keyboard/anything I know the notes on, but only up to the actual notes played in game, not the extension bit the player doesn’t play.

            I can’t play any instruments though, I’m just ok at remembering sequences of 6 notes 😛

      • I was meandering around here even without the special summons, but I greatly appreciate being asked for my opinion.

        Chives is probably my favourite name for a Rowlet that I’ve heard so far. It’s a herb but it also has that posh ring to it that suits Rowlet’s bowtie to a T.

        Portmanteaus are always good in my book. Personally I would have been inclined to go with ‘Corromander’ instead of ‘Corrozard’ because A) Salamanders are historically considered to be separate from Lizards, and B) it matches Chives because of ‘Corriander’ (another herb).

        Jangmo-o is a hard call because it’ll obviously evolve but it’s impossible to know what it will become. Temper suits its grumpy fangs though and sounds kind of like a dragon name anyway, so assuming it’ll still suit it’s evolutions that’s a good one.

        Remy! That is wit in its purest form, I completely approve. (To anyone reading this who doesn’t get the joke: REMy)

        As much as I dislike Pallosand, Rook is a very suitable name. Kind of a shame you aren’t using a Bisharp, Nidoking and Nidoqueen, I can see a potential theme here XD

        Normally I don’t like to play favourites, but I think you’re probably one of the best nicknamers I’ve come across. (And I promise I would have said the same without being summoned XD)

        • Aw thanks! All the compliments from you tonight! Corromander does work, I just liked the z in -Zard that matched with the -sive in corrosive.

          I never used to nickname my Pokemon. Not since the first game I played (ruby) where little me named torchic “wik” like a candle wick. It fits the little chick, just not blaziken. For the nostalgia factor though, I might nickname some of them this gen!

          • Might be an accent thing. Where I come from ‘z’ and ‘s’ are pronounced distinctively different from each other in most cases. Unless you’re not stressing the z like in Charizard and are going for the same sound as Lizard.

            I’ve never nicknamed because Ash never did and I watched the series before playing the game. Ruby was my first too.

            I’m tempted to purely because I arrogantly think I’m good with nicknames, but on the other hand I think it would feel weird.

          • Yeah, chess theme would be cool.
            Sometimes I wish the E4 would have themes rather than being restricted to a single type. A chess themed E4 member would be pretty cool.

            I knew I forgot one of the non-pawns 😛
            I didn’t bother to think of one for a pawn because the pawn would be faint-fodder anyway.

    • At the moment, it is the 10th in Japan. The only month that leaks can be expected early enough to warrant your outburst is in August, when Corocoro is released on the 11th. This month, and every other month, Corocoro is released on the 15th, and so the leaks will only come later tonight if we are extremely lucky.

      The only time that leaks have come on the 10th for a 15th release during the entire 6-7 years that I’ve been following the leaks was back in February this year, it is extremely rare.

      • And back in February, it leaked around 9-10pm for me, which is in a couple of hours, so it has NEVER leaked early enough to warrant you asking where the bloody hell it is. If it’s still not here on Tuesday night JST, then, and only then, is it valid to ask where the bloody hell the leaks are. Remember, getting leaks is a privilege, it’s illegal and could get someone sent to jail, it is in no way a right.
