New Pokémon LEAKED Before Official Update

Although the official new trailers are expected tomorrow, someone it seems has gotten their hands on an early version of the video and leaked some of its contents.

  • Pyukumuku is the English name for Namakobushi and is a pure Water-type with the ability Innards Out
  • Alolan Raichu is now Electric/Psychic with the ability Surge Surfer which doubles its speed on Electric Terrain
  • Morelull is a new Grass/Fairy-type Pokémon with the abilities Illuminate & Effect Spore
  • Team Skull keeps its name from the Japanese versions and is led by Guzma, with Plumeria being a Team Admin.
  • Alolan Meowth is a Dark-type with the abilities Pick-up & Technician
  • Wishiwashi is the English name for Yowashi and its new ability is Schooling which activates when something reaches a certain level (HP? Stats?)
  • Alolan Marowak is now Fire/Ghost-type and has the abilities Lightning Rod & Cursed Body

  14. Wait.. U guys I just realized.. we’ve Already seen Arcanine in Alola.. it’s regular. I dont think they’ve shown any Pokemon in their regular forms in Alola if their type changes.. so it must be wrong ?

      • What if it’s like how there isnt an alola Exeggcute but when it evolves it becomes Alolan Exeggutor? Could that still not happen for pikachu? Or would pikachu have to be from Alola?

          • They already said… If u want a Pokemon from prev gen without alola form.. must bring in from dif game. It’s obvious it applies here to

          • -_- That’s referring to pokémon with alola forms, not their prevolutions. Nowhere does it say an imported exeggcute/pikachu can’t evolve into an Alolan form when imported. You’re just extrapolating. This would make mores sense to my eyes.

          • …. think. How else would u get eggsecute from kanto to evolve regular in this game? Or an alolan eggsecute to evolve to its alola form in future games? Each pokemon has something in its information section after u catch it saying where it’s from. That’s how the game keeps track. This is just the way it is. Not really anything to discuss honestly.

          • Maybe a special item, or you have to import your exeggutor to get the original . Again you’re just assuming. It’s a fair assumption, but you don’t have the proof to settle the issue. Right now it’s still up in the air.

          • like how x/y has the polygon, Sun and moon Pokemon will have a symbol. I would guess Exeggcute with the symbol can evolve into Exeggutor

          • That’s a completely fair guess 🙂 . It makes a lot of sense. But it’s not 100% confirmed atm.

          • its not. but i think it would be bit confusing even if ur transfer ur stuck with alolan raichu, with a kanto pikachu. people would want the best of both worlds

          • Completely fair point, and you may very well turn out to be right, but it’s nothing an item or something couldn’t solve. I thought a cool solution for Alola forms in future games would be levelling up in biodomes.

          • You know the blue pentagon that marked pokémon as not allowed to participate in XY competitions back in the day? It’s a generational provenance indicator. That was basically shaped like Kalos, but iirc the symbol is a flower this time?

          • I edited, but before you answered, so it’s probably Pokejungle’s awful update system forgetting to update messages.

          • If I were a programmer working at Nintendo, I’d find the region locking idea easier to implement than making a special item to force Alolan pokemon to take their Kanto forms when they evolve. Also it means that you couldn’t have pokemon that evolve when traded and holding an item have Alolan forms.

          • Yeah, that’s accurate, and I hadn’t thought of that last possibility. It makes current-location based evolution even more unlikely, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

          • I think of these things because I’m a programmer. It means I have an idea of the amount of work it takes to get certain features working 😛

          • I figured that meant only fully evolved. For example the only way you could get the original exeggutor was transfer it but. But if you were to transfer an exeggute it would evolve into the alolan variant. We might have to wait til gameplay cause i could see it going either way

        • Was about to say this, if it’s environment-based phenotypic plasticity there’s no reason why a pikachu/exeggcute from any region shouldn’t evolve into it’s Alolan form while in Alola. This especially makes sense for exeggutor…

          • Phenotypic plasticity? This IS how biology can work. Sure, it’s less obvious, but no less scientific. It’s especially salient for the Exggutor form, when it says the local conditions causes Exeggcutors to grow much bigger on evolution. Wait till we get Alolan Raichu’s description to be so sure 🙂 .

          • That would only explain some evolutions, not all of them.
            And that’s more about survival strategy than different physical changes. And it applies more to plants than other species.

          • Of course, I was just assuming this applies only to lines that aren’t completely changed in Alola, the rest being the result of local adaptation. But I may very well be wrong and it could all be local adaptation expressed at one life stage. Thing is in some cases it’s about survival, in other cases it’s different. Phenotypic plasticity is very much a catch-all term and I’ve had researchers tell me first hand they’re not quite sure what it means haha. And yeah it seems to be more of a plant thing (though the amount of animal examples is quite astounding in itself) but this is the pokémon world we’re talking about, where metamophosis allows drastic instant biological change, so I wouldn’t say it’s too implausible!

          • Stuff like all of a pokemon’s skin/fur becoming black would be unlikely to happen like that. It’s not the same as getting a sun tan.
            Take a polar bear away from the arctic and it becomes less white, but it doesn’t turn black or grow new apendages.
            Take a plant into the tropics and it’ll probably grow better, take a plant out of the tropics and it won’t do so well.

            If such a process were capable of doing miraculous things, the animals living in zoos would look a lot different to the wild ones, but for the most part the differences are minor.

            The Alolan forms aren’t minor adaptations, they’re effectively sub species. Like how urban foxes and arctic foxes are both still foxes, but they’re both very different and you couldn’t just switch their environments and expect them to be fine.

            It might be plausible for Exeggcute or maybe at a stretch Pikachu, but it would be unlikely to work for Cubone, Vulpix or Sandshrew.

          • That’s exactly my point, it don’t think it applies to vulpix or sandshrew. Wouldn’t make sense as they’re clearly stated to have migrated long ago and adapted as a separate population, you couldn’t have a more classic example of allopatric speciation! And raichu is deffo a stretch, but who knows with gamefreak! This whiole thing just stems from my interpretation of Exeggutor’s description honestly.

          • Unless Pikachu is actually hiding the real thing Giovanni wants (like a gem or piece of technology hidden in its fur), or it used to belong to Giovanni and he wants it back. Would explain why originally it was so feral.
            Or Ash is actually Giovanni’s sun and the Rocket Trio are how Giovanni keeps up with what his son is doing.

          • seems plausible. In fact a Pokemon play actually reveals Geovanni being Ash’s father. Although they don’t seem to recognize each other in ‘Mewtwo Returns’

          • Ash wouldn’t necissarily know it’s his father.
            And Giovanni probably wouldn’t want Ash to know, if he did he wouldn’t need the Rocket Trio to keep an eye on him.
            Also the fact he sent such a useless team out shows he doesn’t want ash to come to harm. If he’d meant harm he would have sent his best team.

  23. For anyone keeping track, the leaker who sent the cryptic image of a bunch of organs and a rock paper scissors image was referring to the sea cucumber.
