New Pokémon LEAKED Before Official Update

Although the official new trailers are expected tomorrow, someone it seems has gotten their hands on an early version of the video and leaked some of its contents.

  • Pyukumuku is the English name for Namakobushi and is a pure Water-type with the ability Innards Out
  • Alolan Raichu is now Electric/Psychic with the ability Surge Surfer which doubles its speed on Electric Terrain
  • Morelull is a new Grass/Fairy-type Pokémon with the abilities Illuminate & Effect Spore
  • Team Skull keeps its name from the Japanese versions and is led by Guzma, with Plumeria being a Team Admin.
  • Alolan Meowth is a Dark-type with the abilities Pick-up & Technician
  • Wishiwashi is the English name for Yowashi and its new ability is Schooling which activates when something reaches a certain level (HP? Stats?)
  • Alolan Marowak is now Fire/Ghost-type and has the abilities Lightning Rod & Cursed Body

  1. I’m away to sleep so I’d there’s not a new article I’m expecting like infinite comment power, but I’d just like to say thanks for how nice people have been to me on my first day!

Its like a big, dysfunctional family <3

  2. 4chan guy has been right so far on sea cucumber and mushroom, amongst other things. Snowman and rugby monkey will follow

    • 4Chan guy? I think you mean the Chinese leaks. They were the original leaks that depicted the info that’s becoming real lol

  3. I know it’s such a tiny detail, but plumaria and guzma seem to have tattoos on their stomach and wrist respectively, which as I said is a small detail, but it’s kinda cool to see pokemon characters who are tattooed

  4. With so many peculiar things about alola, it gets more and more possible that the starters final evos do get alternative forms depending on smth we still don’t know. So maybe we could finally get a quadrupedal fire starter instead of that trainwreck.

  5. I actually like the idea of Bruxish having a split evolution: one where it needs to be evolved near or in clean water and the other near polluted water or areas.

      • With Team Skull and the possibility of pollution and environmental issues being tackled, I guess it wouldn’t be such a huge hurdle to clear through. But yes, I agree. It’s an outlying/impossible possibility.

  6. Ya’ll ready for tomorrow?! Alan VS Ash! After 19 years, this is the closest Ash has ever gotten to achieving his goal and the first time he’s beaten his Sinnoh run with a Top 4 qualification, but got bested by Tobias 4 : 0! Now, Ash is in the Top 2 and facing against Alan and the plot wheels have begun turning with a possibility of 6 episodes for the Team Flare climax! HYPE!

  8. It will be interesting to see why the name Team Skull was chosen for the villains. If anything, I was expecting something more along the lines of Team Eclipse to tie into the legendaries. Maybe the team’s motives are not exclusive to the legendaries? Maybe there’s a different team per island? Maybe there’s something even greater than Solgaleo and Lunala for S/M’s plot that’s staying hidden until later. Thoughts?

    • Well according to the devs, solgaleo and lunala rule over nature and the opposite of nature is urbanization which is associated with pollution which is associated with skulls and death, just my opinion though could be wrong

    • After all this breaking of tradition that these games have shown, I’m surprised we even have an evil team. It kinda doesn’t feel right. Let’s hope they bring something new to the table, since that seems to be what this gen is aiming for.

      • I think it’s appropriate. Without an evil team the only opposition would be the trial captains and kahunas and there wouldn’t be any major disaster that causes the legendaries to pipe up.

        • I guess I’m just surprised there’s a “team.” I was half expecting them to focus on a small amount of antagonists without the grunts that add little to the game other than exp.

          Reply
          • Only having minor antagonists wouldn’t pay off unless they kept cropping up.
Besides which, without grunts there would be nothing standing in the way of fighting the head honcho, you’d just run right in to major fights without having to build your way up, meaning said events would be over quicker and more easily forgettable.

          • Yeah, but it wouldn’t be the first time they mixed up the formula (obviously). I think they could make no team work. They would just have to be smart about it.

          • The problem with not having a team means that unless they started making pokemon turn on people (which goes against the ‘pokemon aren’t evil, trainers are’ philosophy) there would be a distinct lack of major story related battles.

    • I was hoping for Team Eclipse… The designs for Team Skull are lackluster at best and they don’t really give off that villainous, Plasma-level evil vibe! The designs for Ghetsis and Team Plasma were really good and they seemed like a truly threatening, organized evil team. Team Skull lacks in comparison. HOWEVER, I remember everyone hyping Team Flare up due to their designs and look how they turned out… So there’s always that possibility.

        • Seeing as how Kukui is somehow already acquainted with Guzma, it seems the leader will have the primary focus this time without the lesser generals hogging up the spotlight. I for one am hoping for a sympathetic and layered backstory and motive. Stop being evil just because, have some thought and background!

          • Hopefully. These games have so much potential for lore, what with the alchemy hints and the traditional feel of Alola. Let’s hope GF doesn’t let that go to waste.

          • It looks like the evil team causes trouble because they were told they weren’t good enough to be captains, which seems like a good human reason to rebel.

      • This is why I think it’s possible it’s a bait and switch.
That the boss either isn’t the real boss or that there’s another villain who is the real villain.

          • as XY showed with Megas, Amie, STraining, Wonder Trading, and so on, and left with a terribly stunted story, ORAS disproves your theory though. it’s pretty perfect if being a remake isn’t a detriment.

          • I often think they split their main team in two part way to start them on ORAS before XY was even out.

Or they lost loads of time recreating the game engine.
And were able to skip that be reusing the XY one for ORAS.

          • If there’s another team, it could be team Eclipse.
The hero spends so much time chasing after team Skull that the real Villains can work uninterrupted and be a much more frightening force by the end, requiring the hero to actually team up with Team Skull to end it.

Sort of like Ruby/Sappire, except if they did a bait&switch at the end where it turned out Magma was good, Aqua was bad/Aqua was good, Magna was bad.

      • That’s what I like about them though! We’ve had a lot of teams that wanted to change the world/rule it. I think it would be nice for a Team Rocket sorta vibe that I feel from them.I just don’t get the ‘We want to destroy the world’ vibe that other Teams, Like Galatic and Plasma, did

        Reply
        • Every team wanted to rule the world in their own way not just galactic and plasma but yeah i would like for a change on evil team intentions

          Reply
          • True, except Rocket really. They just wanted profit really and to have power,
Some wanted to change the world for the better in their eyes, and that’s not really ruling in my eyes

          • Oh ok i see your point but to me rocket wanted to profit which would ultimately end with them ruling over the economy which rules everything else (or at least just rule over the kanto-johto region economy haha)

          • “Some wanted to change the world for the better in their eyes, and that’s not really ruling in my eyes”
They wanted to force their beliefs on other people through force. It’s the same thing as trying to rule the world.

          • Yeah, but at the same time, they’re not trying to control the world in a sense of being leaders and being a dominant force. Forcing your beliefs on someone doesn’t mean you want to rule the world, just what people think.

          • They want to force their ideals on people, that’s still attempting to strip people of their free will, it’s the same thing.
It’s like trying to force religion on people by force, like the nights Templar did during the crusades. It’s not a coincidence Plasma has a castle/knight theme.

        • For me, I’m a little biased towards those destructive teams because BW are my favorite games. It wouldn’t surprise me if Team Skull’s motives are different, but I fear mirroring Team Rocket will make saving Alola from them a boring task, if that even ends up happening.

          Reply
          • I don’t think they’ll be exactly Team Rocket, but have a similar thing. They can cause trouble, but it would be for profit.

          • Adding to that urbanization idea, it could definitely be a viable option. It would have to depend on how their plans are executed and how their backstory is explained to tell if I really enjoy them as villains.

          • I doubt profit is their motive.
In the footage Guzma calls his team “Fellow rejects that could never become captains” so their motivation is going to be related to that. Be it overthrowing the existing captains by force or just trying to make themselves more powerful.

Personally I think they’re supposed to be a group of rebelling teenagers, upset at being told they aren’t good enough, which in a way makes them a much more human team on the inside.

          • It’s still a possibility for me, I dunno. And plus, that could just be a sore spot for Guzma, and that’s what made him do the things he did.
We’ll hopefully find out more soon 🙂

          • It would be a sore spot for more than just him.
“Fellow rejects” implies everyone in the team failed to qualify for captain.

I can see them maybe stealing stuff, but more because they don’t want to pay for it than because they want to be rich. They seem more like just a bunch of neighbourhood misfits than the multimillion pokedollar operation team rocket was running. Team Rocket were the Yakuza/Mafia, these guys are more like a biker gang or a street gang – still a nuissance, but onorganised and only a local issue.

          • Nooooo then this probably means no dark type trial captian which is equivalent to no dark type gym leader ??? why gamefreak whyyyy? You know i bet that if dark type had existed in gen 1 then giovanni would have probably specialized on it

          • Why would that be a bad thing if the villain is probably running a dark type team?

Can’t argue about the gen 1 comment.

          • I took that “Fellow rejects” referred to himself and Kukui.
Like the preceeding line would be “Well look at us, we meet again.”

          • It’s plausible, but I doubt Kuiki would have become a professor just because he couldn’t become a trial captain. I would have thought he would have been interested in studying pokemon from the get go, otherwise he wouldn’t be a very good professor.

Also I suddenly realised how odd it is every region only has one professor.

It would be amusing if the villain turned out to have professor-level IQ.

        • – Team Plasma: Fleshed out, had character development, their leader had a thorough background, had an arc (albeit too late), and created an organized criminal structure while blinding everyone to his true motives. Then there’s N, possibly the most layered and complex character in Pokemon and had a true intention of trying to help the world, but was used against him by Ghetsis through the fabricated, “liberation of Pokemon, truth ideals, etc…” We had two evils there: one that was trying to do good through bad and one that was trying to do bad through good. Yin and yang!

I believe there’s a stark difference between being a, “I want to rule the world,” team and a team that has actual background while trying to bring change because no matter what, everyone brings change in someway.

I too want a low-key evil Team Rocket group because there’s more to work with and there’s more room for development, but I can’t help but feel like a grander, more epic/fantasy-esque team would have worked really well for Sun/Moon with the growing lore, alchemic themes, and whatnot.

Sorry for the REALLY long post. 😛

          • Ultimately though, every team was trying to achieve things through force.

Rocket stole and did what they wanted by force.
Magma and Aqua stole and tried to use the legendaries to force their changes.
Galaxy tried to take the power of legendaries to do what they wanted.
Plasma was trying to force their ideals on everyone.
Flare was trying to force what they wanted on everyone.

And Skull looks like it’s going to be doing things by force as well.

Dunno what you mean by Alchemic themes. Aside from the legendaries, what has anything had to do with alchemy?

    • I was hoping they’d be pirates, but after seeing their full attire, Im thinking otherwise.. I could be pleasantly wrong!

  9. Many litten fanart when it was first showed are quite interesting. Portraying it as a panther or leopard ish thing. I genuinely believed they would go that way, especially with all that “let’s simplify things” talk.

  10. I kind of feel like this gen is the equivalent of the islands in anime or battle frontier. Which would explain the lack of gyms.. This would be the perfect place for the new champion Ash to go. If he wins

      • You have to remember that Satoshi Tajiri has Aspergers, so he had probably made Satoshi/Ash as a reflection of himself.

And from this coming from someone who is diagnosed with HFA, I can totally relate with him. With my character, Karius from my comic series, Elzeron Chronicles
