CoroCoro Leaking with New Pokémon and Information!

The September issue of CoroCoro has started to leak and with it comes a handful of new Pokémon and information.

UPDATE: More scans have leaked!

  • Namakobushi (sea cucumber & fist) It uses fist-shaped organs which come out of its mouth to punch!

Yesterday’s leaks:

  • Yowashi (weak sardine) is a new Water-Type Pokémon that calls on its friends to change form
  • Sunabaa (sand + boo) and its evolution Shirodesuna (name literally means it’s a castle, isn’t it?) are Ghost/Ground-Type Pokémon
  • Nuikoguma (plush/sewn + cub) is Bewear’s pre evolution and is Normal/Fighting
  • Alolan Meowth confirmed and becomes Dark-Type
  • Alolan Marowak confirmed and will be Fire/Ghost
  • Evil Team is known as Team Skull, they are described as “the no-good Team Skull”. They’re described as hoodlums and you can see the Boss featured in the magazine
  • Serebii is reporting that next month’s issue will feature a “secret evolution” for Rockruff

    • It won’t because Alolan Meowth is Dark type, and we now that the Team Rocket Trio is not actually evil and Meowth is pretty kind to a lot of Pokémon.

I predict there will be an episode with an Alolan Meowth causing trouble and Team Rocket Meowth trying talking sense into it.

      Reply
    • Can’t be happening cuz Team Rocket’s Meowth is not native to alola and when pokemon adapt to be alolan it can’t get normal again.

  1. I’m so glad that leaked Alola dex is fake. While a number of the concepts were cool, some of the names were just awful. Pawssum? Cumbersum? Anenemie? Scruluse? Definitely not upset over those being fake. I was starting to worry that those in charge of localizing the names had a Scruluse…

      • I’m sure the official names won’t be so disappointing. I usually enjoy the clever names that GameFreak manage to come up with.

    • Gotta say though I’m happy the list is fake because it’s nice to have stuff to discover, I though Cumbersum and Anenemie were great names, very gen I in style!

  2. Ohhhhhh …Team Skull sounds pure evil I like it ….I am wondering wat their leader looks like I pet he will be my favorite.

      • I didn’t know this punk was a leader …..I hope they have higher leader.

srry for disappointed u put I didn’t enjoy seeing shirtless guys either I am looking for strong ,badass and majestic character.

  3. The evil team looks kinda underwhelming at first sight but we’ll see. I’m so happy for Bewear’s prevo. I won’t use it but it deserved not to be a standalon in my opinion. Kinda sad because of disproving the existence of my Dragon/Fighting I’ve been waiting for so long. The fish seems interesting. Alolan Marowak is awesome, I don’t like Meowth though.

  4. The sand castle is a little on the silly side, but I love the Alola forms for Meowth, and for Merowack. And that pre-evolution for Beware is just the cutest thing. <3 <3 <3 ANd the new team looks kinda cool, but to me they look like punks/gang members that go around spray painting walls and fences, and just generally causing trouble, for inocent bystanders, and law enforcement, ya know.

  5. well guys looks like we need to get the Majora’s Mask meme setup so we’ll get ready for the big announcement, more Pokemon news info on Sun and Moon! 😀

  7. we are almost 2 months away and all the revealed pokemon looks bad…I’m quite worried about this gen, like a sandcastle is the lamest idea ever (yes grimer/muk is miles better than this crap) this feels so much like mega man….

also why did sugimori draw meowth in this weird pose ?

    Reply
    • We go through this every generation, and eventually people will find Pokémon they like anyway. People have this weird bias that it is hard to satisfy them immediately with new Pokémon because it isn’t always what they expected.

Also, it’s still three months and a half away, so not nearly ‘almost 2 months’.

      Reply
    • You don’t have to like every Pokemon under the sun, but I don’t think any of the new ones are generally bad. The sandcastle is quite a unique Pokemon with Alola being based on Hawaii, and Hawaii having a bunch of beaches. So, a haunted sandcastle is rather neat. Also, I assumed that Alolan Meowth is based on the Egyptian root of cats, which is why it has a weird pose.

      Reply
    • its ok not to like them, but I think your over exaggerating, GF may have other ideas but out of many ideas and sketches they have they liked the ones they have because they think people will like it. And to be honest while I’m not too found of the sandcastle or bear I do respect these pokemon and that these pokemon will be one people’s team because of the stats and looks. Plus they don’t have alot of time they have been doing this since probably ORAS so the whole staff is under alot of pressure to get and to put these pokemon out. Besides this gen is about simplicity and I like that.

  8. Damn! I was just about to go to bed. Anyways, I’m liking Yowashi a lot! Alolan Marowak is seriously Fire/Ghost! That’s already sweet. I wonder if Cubone and Persian will get Alolan forms. Also, Team Skull is looking good. I seriously wonder what they’ll do in Alola. Lastly, the leaked PokeDex list isn’t holding up. I just checked it and it did not list a pre-evolution for Beware and any of the new Pokemon. I know Giro said it was close to being accurate, but it already seems like a fan-made list.

    Reply
    • That’s how I feel lol! Everybody is hating on it because it fits with the “inanimate object Pokemon” thing but in all honesty this is one of the more creative ones! A ghost possesses a sandcastle! I think that’s awesome! Kinda like Banette being a possessed doll

  9. Fish is ok, Bewear’s pre-evolution is adorable, sandcastle is probably the dumbest design yet, the Alolan forms don’t make sense to me, and Team Skull looks to be less edgy than Team Flare. 5/10 It’s ok.

  10. I love the whole fire dancer idea for Merowhack. <3 Its awesome, and it fit's in with the one challenge leader, who likes dancing, and is supposed to have a Merowhack on his team, but specializes in fire type Pokemon. 😀

  11. Sandcastle Pokemon- Cute Designs. Love the concept and type. 7/10
Fish Pokemon- Very weird design and concept but great design when big. 7/10
    Bewear’s pre-evolution- Ugly as hell. 3/10
Alolan Meowth- Love the design and the type. Brings questions if Team Rocket’s Meowth will undergo that change when Team Rocket follows Ash to Alola. 8/10
Alolan Marowak- Same as Meowth, love the type and design. 8/10
Team Skull- Confirmation of Evil Team. I don’t care what anyone says. 9/10

Overall, this was a very good issue of CoroCoro.

    • you really didnt get how alolan pokemon work…these pokemon are native to alola, they dont change their forms when they go there lmao…

      Reply
    • Sorry but the only thing that I see as unique about that silly little sand castle is it’s typing. LOL

And I’m not sure if we are looking at the same Pokemon, because when I look at Bewears Pre-evolution, I see an adorable little teddy bear that is totally a 8/10

And I agree with you on the Alola forms, and the evil team. (But I don’t believe that Team Rockets Meowth will change his form.)

    • They seem (to me) to be a bad ass group of gang punks, that would go around knocking off convenience store’s, and steeling Pokemon from people, and vandalizing public property, and just generally being the typical scum of the universe. LOL

  18. Yowashi is an interesting Pokemon. I think I figured out how it’s ability will work. Once it’s HP gets lower than 50%, it calls upon it’s ally fishes to become a daunting Pokemon; then it increases it’s attack and defense to swiftly defeats the enemy.

Also, I seriously want to see Alolan Persian! I hope it gets a black colour scheme. It would look outstanding. Lastly, that Anon_ _151 leak is also fake too. Marowak is Fire/Ghost, not Ground/Fire. Lonk: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/187276-pokemon-sun/74111574?page=0

    • I’m assuming that it will be the two evolutions we all thought off.
      Rowlet: Grass/Flying and Grass/Ground
      Litten: Fire/Dark and Fire
      Popplio: Water/Fairy and Water/Fighting
It’s just a thought for now.

  21. That sandcastle Pokemon is TRAGIC. I literally can’t take it serisouly when it!s previous evo has a shovel in its head and the final evo lips literally a sandcastle with arms. The fish Pokemon has a really cool concept and I think it’s based on those little blue fish that swim in sequence to look bigger.

  22. Now I understand y they made Bewear Normal/Fighting not Fairy/Fighting…..it’s Psycho murder killer and his brain didn’t grow up since it was a kid …did u Imagine this power with this little brain.

  23. See… The thing that bothers me about Pokemon like this new fish…. Where are all the other pokemon of its species coming from in the anime!? So water types like this would only work in water and flop like magikarp on ground? Ugh

    Reply
    • I guess the concept is supposed to reflect it calling others of its species, but if you imagine it as an extension of substitute as it appears in the anime and manga (creating an energy clone), I guess it could work?

  24. A little glad that the Pokédex leak is fake, because
    1. I spoiled it for myself, and lowkey hated myself for it lol
    2. Thought the 4 versions of the final starter evolutions was a bit excessive, although I would welcome a Day/Night version.
    3. Now the rest of the Pokémon will be a surprise 😀

    Reply
      • I’m all for change but four different forms sounds excessive! Plus if they were real the name Beltigre would mean that they would have to keep the base design the same for all forms otherwise the name wouldn’t work, so it just didn’t make too much sense you know?

        Reply
        • Yeah, I can’t see the Starters getting different forms for different Islands. There’s so many “leaks” going around at the moment, that are so convincing to my paranoid mind. I try to stay away from them, but they suck me in like a black hole because I’m paranoid they may be real. This CoroCoro batch has got me really excited now! I was so nervous they were gonna remove the Evil Team. They didn’t. Gym Leaders and E4 was a stretch but I like the idea of Trial Captains and Kuhanas and am interested to learn more about them. I will pray tonight to our lord and savior that is Arceus above for giving us news of our new Evil Team for S/M, Team Skull.

          Reply
          • Team Skull is an interesting name choice tho, I was expecting something like Team Eclipse and whatnot. But yeah the “leaks” were messing with my mind too, I was like please be wrong, although some concepts were pretty cool. Although the fact that there were only 4 rock pokemon was weird. But then again I think DP had 4 fire pokemon that were new.

    • Exactly… I was like… This is Way too much… What’s the point anymore? I knew it was fake partly.. but the other leaks proved real. So I kept quiet

      Reply
  25. What I don’t get is why Alolan Meowth is a Dark type if it were bred by royalty? Could Team Skull be the descendants of the Alolan Royal Family? The plot thickens.

    Reply
    • Because people like to associate royalty with bad things despite there having been many good monarchs over the years. The good monarchs generally get forgotten though because people like hearing stories of bloodshed and debauchery.

Imagine if game of thrones (not that I watch it) were about how a king reduced taxes, negotiated trade deals and made his kingdom prosper by having a strong economy. Nobody would watch it because they would rather watch wars, beheadings and nudity.

  31. I actually really like the sandcastle Pokemon concept. It’s using the 2 towers as it’s hands, kind of reminds me of Hydreigon.

The Bewear line on the other hand….let’s just say, not something I will be using.

    Reply
    • They fucked a chance to amazing red panda pokemon. Bewear looks like a stuff teddy bear to me and the fact that bewear looks so unrealistic and cartoonish compared to pangroo and their both bears is tragic

      Reply
  32. So with the reveal that bewear has a pre-evo can we put that other rumor of the whole pokedex being leaked to rest!?

    Reply
    • I like them because it gives them a new spin on old favorites, plus they can only do so much before all the animals have been created into Pokémon. But to each their own 🙂

      Reply
    • I’m half and half.
I could live with the original 5, but the fans are really killing it by using it as an excuse to just come up with crack-typings and new type matchups that are really illogical, like Aegislash suddenly being made of wood and water.

      Reply
      • Yes, because Ninetales suddenly being an ice fairy and Sandshrew suddenly being a metal-coated snow pangolin are such logical choices with small changes when compared to the main variant.

        Reply
        • Ninetails being Ice makes sense. The fairy bit doesn’t but the ice does. Same for sandshrew being Ice, but not the Steel bit.
Arctic foxes and arctic shrews are real things.
Also Exeggutor is based of the Dracaena, commonly called the ‘dragon palm’.

It’s a stretch, but it’s more logical than some of the other excuses I’ve heard for fan made crack typings. Most don’t even come with any justification other than “it looks cool”.

          Reply
          • I’m the only one that thinks Fairy Ninetales makes sense…. At least according to what Ninetales is based of, which is a mythical fox….

          • Yes, Kyubi no Kitsune. But they’re supposed to be spirits, not fairies. As many have said, ghost would have made more sense.

(That’s also the basis for Delphox.)

          • But the Fairy typing is related to myths, not only fairies, see Tapu Koko as an example, which it is the Land Spirit Pokemon and is a Fairy type. And Fairy is the next big thing since we already have an Ice/Ghost (Froslass) and an Ice/Psychic (Nikki Minaj).

          • Personally I think it’s a bit of a stretch. Kitsune are supposed to be spirits in the Yokai sense, to say they’re nature spirits means categorising Bakeneko/Nekomata as fairies too.

          • I know it’s a stretch, but it’s how they are handling the Fairy type probably. The nekomata is not a fairy, but it is a myth… And I think that GF will try and fit every myth with a Fairy typing from now on…. well, not EVERY myth, but some fairies will be based of things wenever expect of…

          • Some fairies I can understand and cope with like the Tapus, Granbull and Mawile, but Yokai are supposed to be ghosts and a Kyubi no Kitsune is typically classed as a yokai, not some individual entity. Another example: Froslass, based on the Yuki Onna (snow woman) yokai, ghost type.

The only logic I can find for making yokai fairies is that Mawile could be a Futakuchi Onna (two-mouthed woman).

It still seems odd to me though. I can understand making guardian spirits fairies, but not malevolent ones.

          • Yokai are actually a pretty good equivalent to the older understanding of Fairies/Elves/Nature Spirits, and there’s nothing wrong with comparing the Bakeneko/Nekomata to legends about fairies, look up the legend of the Fairy Dog.

          • If you mean the Cù Sìth, that’s more of a ghost like creature since it’s a psychopomp.
Taking young to a daoine sìth (fairy mound) to feed the Aos Sí does not make it a fairy, that just means it’s willing to work with and help fairies, much in the same way me feeding fish does not make me a fish.

  33. well guys looks like we need to get the Majora’s Mask meme setup, Because there’s only 3 more days until some more info on Pokemon Sun and Moon

  34. Alright, back again. I’ve been looking forward to this! I happened to walk past an intricate sand design today but hadn’t thought about a Pokemon based on that concept. The designs are pretty cool (giving me Yamask/Cofagrigus vibes), and Ghost/Ground is wonderfully unique. We also have the Fire/Ghost Marowak, which brings Chandelure’s typing back into the forefront. Ghost and Fairy are getting fantastic treatment this generation, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Alolan Meowth looks a bit weird but that Dark typing could be great for my team. Dark-type Persian! I’m really happy that Bewear has a cute pre-evo, because I think that line will be very popular. I’m curious about that fish Pokemon (the design is great, but I don’t understand how it’s actually a single Pokemon). Finally, glad we have an evil team. It sounds just as corny as Team Rocket, which is just what I had hoped for. WHEW. I’ll be sunbathing if you need me.

    Reply
  35. The origins of the Alola forms are really cool to me. Meowth was bred by a royal family to become evil (somehow) and Marowak was trying to resist natural predators. To be honest, I thought it would have something to do with the dead Marowak from RBY.

-Sunabaa and Shirodesuna : I didn’t know y ppl hate these I predict they will terrify the alolan kids who r playing on the beach ……Shirodesuna is swallow up pickachu so this r not suitable for kids anymore and that nice.

-Nuikoguma concept as I said before it proves that Bewear is a Psycho murder killer with baby brain.

    – I want more than changing color in Alolan forms but not bad.

  40. Seeing as I love Ghost-Types above all others I might have a slight bias. Nevertheless, I understand the potential criticism of the sand castle, as it is, literally, a sandcastle with eyes. Now, having said that, I understand why they did it, if you look at the picture of it that includes a Pikachu you can see that it seems as though they wait on a beach for a prey to get close, similar to lion ants, and when it gets close enough they attack. Meaning, it is likely that the design is like this for them to be inconspicuous rather than for it to appeal to children by virtue of over simplification.
(On a side note, I can’t wait for the dex entry stating that it is born of the souls of children that were buried in the sand as a joke that didn’t end so well, because you know they get that dark…)

In regards to the pre-evo… I’m still very on the fence about that red-panda design though I understand it. If the shiny follows the color scheme of a normal red-panda I can see many more people loving it…

The sardine I can only commend on it’s brilliance, we have had some rather interesting abilities this gen, although many with the same trigger of going below 50% hp. The thought that it is based in the school of fish protection tactic is awesome, I can’t wait to see if it evolves and if it does, how.

Very curious about rockruff and also the missing pages of the leak, though they might not contain anything much…

The alolan forms are awesome!! Marowak’s is just amazing (again, love me some ghosts) for joining the fire dancer theme with the lore already inherent to the pokemon and Meowth changing like that because of a royal family, it’s brilliant. To think that, logically, such individuals must have worked through selective breeding for it to acquire the traits they deemed more beautiful and elegant (the different coloration and slightly different whiskers), but also that as a, perhaps, side-effect, from being bred in the environment of that social class with all the common ‘shady business’ that might have ensued, to have become a Dark-type is cool thinking. Like they say, a pet usually reflects the owner.

    Reply
    • the sandcastle is creative as heck tbh, anyone who thinks its not is crazy. But what missing pages are you talking about? isn’t this it?

      Reply
      • Yeah, I completely agree it’s well thought out. However, those who don’t really look much into it will think it’s lazy, kinda ironic.
As for the pages, if you look at the photos you’ll notice that while the page with the sardine is the one left of the one with the alolan forms, we do not have either the one left of the bewear’s pre-evo page or the one left of the rockruff page. This could very well just be because they have nothing new. You can see the end of alolan sandslash’s claws to the left of bewear which makes it logical to assume that pages has only the alolan forms we already were shown, and yet I would rather discern for myself what’s on them, as sometimes, even just the way something is written might tells something new. (Though I doubt it.)

  41. TL:DR – Me rambling and giving opinions

Well the leaks are now confirmed fake I believe which is a good thing, I mean for a start there were too many dual typings which was a tad overboard.
Some interesting designs here tho. and finally a few things on the evil team!

Yowashi is an pretty cool concept, I mean it’s school form or whatever it is is pretty menacing and it’ll be interesting to see if it’s triggered by health, ability or attack. Another Pokemon that proves that the design team are really focusing on real life Pokemon and the whole predator/prey/adaptation thing.

Sunabaa & Shirodesuna are pretty cute & quirky tbh, I mean the shovel in Sunabaa’s head makes it look like a chicken for some reason. I’m sure they’ll look hella cool ingame tho, especially if they have a shifting sand movement that continuously moves around. Also unusual typing for sandcastles so I’m looking forward to its text. Might even encounter a few on the beach by interacting with em.

Nuikoguma Is damn cute but in that photo it looks really disproportionate, like it’s head is massive but then again, in the pic to the left it looks fine. Start them out young on the “crush a man like he’s like a stick with a hug” mentality is what I always say

Alolan Meowth is a nice surprise (Dark’s to be expected *shakes fist at Mewoth giving other Meowth’s a bad name*) and it look so odd even tho the only thing that’s changed is it’s colour haha/ I expect Persian to be the target of many a Sableye when it evolves cause I’m expecting some serious royal family bling. Also confirmation of an Alolan royal family, so maybe they’ll show up in the story in some way – maybe the bad guys will hold em hostage.

We all expected Alolan Marowak – Fire type was a given but Ghost not so much. I mean I’ve seen Megas where people have made it Ground/Ghost, but I like the competition with Chandelure. I wonder what predators Marowak has had to change to resist.
I do like how both of the two Alolan forms revealed aren’t massively an aesthetic change. Simple is best after all.

Finally the evil team, I see where they’re going with the leader guy looking so chill. I mean the professor is also shirtless and in a lab coat, so it’s a fun direction. Team Skull for me implies that they want the Tapu guardian Pokemon – as skull is head and what can the Tapus do (Well we’ve seen one of them do): turn into the head of an animal. How that’ll tie into the mascot legendaries, no idea how tbh but what if the final island trial totems are the mascots, and since you battle the Kahunas who have been chosen by the guardians, the evil team are tryna speed up that process by getting all 4 guardians and somehow cheating the system?
Nice Sun & Moon shaped glasses on the boss guy’s head tho and the girl reminds me of Mira (DPPt in Wayward Cave), I think it’s the hair

    • Dual typing are never too much, especially if they’re new combinations. Single types have a much harder time standing out, especially now we have more than 700 pokémon out there.

  42. Why don’t you guys like the Bewear line? I think it’s pretty cute and its cartoonish look makes it stand out from the rest. And just like I don’t care about that psychic fish we got before, I’ll also ignore the sand castle and this other fish pokemon. Are they horrible? Yes, but it won’t ruin the game for me.

  46. I’m sorry guys, but:

Don’t like the sandcastle, it looks like a 5 year old designed it.
Don’t like fish made of fish, too weird.
And WTF is up with the squashed Bewear? It’s like someone took a vacuum cleaner to it and sucked out 80% of its stuffing.

I’m half and half about the Dark Meowth, it might just be because of the smug way they’ve drawn it and the way its whiskers curl upward.
Marowak is a bit small to make out and I was hoping it would be Ground/Fire, but out of this batch I’d say it’s the best one.

The skull team looks like a biker gang, which I can sorta live with. I like the white haired guy’s design, the others make me want to scream “stay in school, ya punks”.

Still loving Rockruff, Oricorio, Bewear and Exeggutor though.

      • It bugs me that everyone doesn’t like some ghost pokemon because the inhabitant objects. That what poltergeist do! Also I wouldnt judge it until I see the in game model. I didn’t like Mimikyuu until I got its background and saw the ingame model.

          • Eh, I understand the ghost pokemon haunting or possesion objects. That can be explained. However, some pokemon looking like inanimate objects with no good explanation, I’m like….eh…

          • What does a poltergeist actually look like if they were a real thing? Ghost don’t usually have a material form. THey’re just there invisible to the naked eye or they blend in with the shadows. Depending on the legends or folklores you read or hear about their appearance changes. There is no definite description of a ghost.

          • The thing is that ghosts don’t exist and in Pokemon you would be able to capture it. It’s confusing to me sorry haha

        • My issue isn’t with object possession. I liked Chandelure, Rotom, Shuppet/Banette, Spiritomb and Cofagrigus. I don’t like Mr Sandcastle. It’s model would have to be a heck of a lot better for me to not dump it in my ‘dislike’ group. It should feel special though, that’s a very small group.

The fish is average, but what’s interesting about it is that The bigger fish isn’t it’s evolution.

All these Pokemon will look much better in game, though.

What’s most interesting Is that they Finally showed us the evil team. But I find it odd that they showed off the Leader so soon. Also, we don’t know their goal or anything.

This also deconfirms the Pokedex leak, so there’s that.

  51. Some things we need to consider. The Starters final evolutions could still be real. Rockruff may still get the four types of Rock/Dark, Rock/Steel, Rock/Fighting, Rock/Fairy, because both of these informations were given by another “leaker”. The one from the list just took it to make the list more real.
I think that the Starters will have two evolutions and Rockruff two or four.

    • I kinda hope for that, too, but based on the official description for Alolan Sandslash, it kinda seems like the only differences will be their Abilities, movepool and, of course, appearance.

The weight of the ice that covers its body makes these Alolan Sandslash
heavier than normal Sandslash, and this causes them to be slower. Yet in
snow fields and on ice, they move by creating a path with their claws,
and so they’re able to move with swiftness.

And if she had also mentioned Sandcastle and Teddy Bear, it woud’ve been more believable. Still! if the different evolution for some pokemon are proven to be real, then we would’ve probably have gotten these results.

But hey, like The Simpsons and Family Guy, business is business! At least it brings in the new younger kids to feed on their slob and poo out the gold bricks to these now cheap and wits end companies need to survive.

Okay it maybe not gold, s$%t is s$%t afterall, but you get what I’m going here.

I woudn’t be surprised to think that their only goal for the entire series before finally calling it a day, is if they finally reached to 1000 Pokemon. They’re already reaching to their 800s, why stop now when you’re near to the finishing line.

People have been saying this literally every generation for 20 years :/

I think Alola is showing great promise with beautifully original and creative Pokemon so far. Sure it’s not perfect but no gen has been perfect. I don’t require a perfect game, just an enjoyable, fun one.

I’m just disappointed that that list was proven false despite a few things in it that proves of it maybe becoming true. If you’ve seen my evolution branch graph for Rokruff and the starters below, you get the idea of what I’m getting at. It even shows that the type hacking for the starters from the japanese pokemon website is narrowed to one island.

I’m also upset that the list was disproved because I only found out about it a few hours ago and really liked some of the pokemon listed on it.
I doubt that the starters will have more than 1 alternate form though, and I doubt that’s what Rockruff’s evo would share in common with them.
So far my theory is that Rockruff and the starters are the only ones that can follow you around or go in a special area with you.

          • hmmm, this may sound interesting afterall!

Actually, I was hoping for Rowlet’s final evolution name to be based on Robin Hood because of how it’s description fits the character. Plus, how many pokemon do you know that are based on British things?

          • I suppose technically Snubull/Granbull are based on a bull dog, but those are only really considered British because they look like queen Victoria. Houndour/Houndoom are comparable to the black dog [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_dog_(ghost)] since they are dark type. Technically some of the dragons could be attributed to British myth, like Druddigon resembling the Welsh dragon. There’s the Wyvern, which Noivern is based on. And there’s the move Will-o-Wisp which is based on Will-o-the-wisp, another British (arguably English) myth. Then there’s the standing stones that featured in Kalos, the town where the main event of the main story took place, similar to various standing stones through the country.

Most of these things are things that people forget are considered British because Britain has had such an impact on the world that a fair number of our traditions spread across the globe and became common place. Admittedly, I doubt these were intended to be British themed, but they can be attributed as such.

          • You must remember that some of these things, such as Noivern, and the stone circles are not british, but mostly european. Stone circles, though not circular, are found in France. Many a Pokemon found are French based, even the name Pokemon itself.

Also that’s british are the dog line in Unova, which is based on the terriers

          • France may have many Menhir, but Britain has the highest concentration of proper Henges. Stonehenge, Mayburgh Henge, the Knowlton Circles, the Maumbury Rings, the Thorntonbourough Henges, Woodhenge, Avebury Henge etc

As for a Wyvern, one of the most famous Wyverns is the symbol of the Kingdom of Wessex, which existed from 519 AD to the 10th century. Also “Since the sixteenth century, in English, Scottish, and Irish heraldry,
the key distinction has been that a wyvern has two legs, whereas a
dragon has four; however, this distinction is not generally observed in
the heraldry of other European countries, where two-legged dragons are
entirely acceptable”. It’s also very prominent in English family crests, so I’d argue it might exist in europe but is probably more prominent in England and Wales than other countries. Especially in the West Country, since that’s where the Kingdom of Wessex was originally.

          • so would you think Rowlet’s final evolution maybe based and world be named after Robin Hood?

          • Yeah, it’s plausible. The leaked Rowlet evolution was my favourite out of the 3, but I’m hoping they were fake because if that’s Litten’s final form, I will cry into my pillow for weeks.

          • why, because of it being on two legs rather than two? When Typhlosion and Imfernape run on all fours. Also I don’t think the final form of Litten is Fire/Fighting, it’ll probably be Fire/Dark

          • Not just being bipedal. I also don’t like its hands or the fire belt, and I’m not too keen on the shirt or its face. I’ve seen a fair number of fan designs that I like though.

I have no issue against fire/fighting, it has served me well for years.

          • It’s also said to be inspired from Tiger Mask, one of Ken Sugimori’s favorite shows.

Also came up with some ideas for the Pokemon’s names…

Robinhoot (Play on Robin Hood), Tygressor (Tiger, Opressor), Sirelio (Siren, Lio)

          • I still feel they could have pulled it off better if they absolutely had to make a wrestling tiger.

I prefer Robinhoot to Robinroot, the current most likely name.
The other two are also reasonably good too, I can’t remember what the leaks are saying they’re supposed to be.

          • Archer, Wrestler, Siren.

Also, another good name for Rowlet’s Final Evolution, Sherhoot (Sherwood-Hoot)

          • I meant what their names were supposed to be 😛

I would have been tempted to do an archery-based name instead of an obvious robin hood reference.

Like Archileaf, Foliarrow or Bowing (if they didn’t get sued :P)

          • maybe for it’s Japanese naming, but if it’s based on iconic characters, such as Empoleon, surly they would called Rowlet after Robin Hood or similar.

            Maybe Archood?

          • I thought Empoleon was just a generic emperor penguin. Weird.

Archood sounds reasonable too. Archery + Hood.

    • So Muk, Seel and Ekans we’re creative and original?
Wow pokemon seems to have lost it’s shine pretty quickly am I right?
Man Voltorb and Magneton are super creative, a pokeball with a face and three Magnemites put together. Damn was Dugtrio original, three fucking Digletts, surely Gamefreak could ever go more original than that. A Sandcastle pokemon, damn thats unoriginal, back in my day there were just godlike designs that will never be topped. All these new pokemon look like fucking digimon good that I just played gen1, it was the best! These new types suck, back in my day pokemon had one type or rarely two and you’d just spam flamethrower and surf. You didn’t need to play… tactical ewww, sadly they have messed up since gen2. IV’s and EV’s whats that garbage? So unoriginal. What a pokemon with an interesting and creative origin that is not just sludge with a face or three pokemon stuck together? • Aparently they class some Yokai as fairies rather than ghosts, which I don’t get frankly.

The Ice makes sense. The Fairy doesn’t. Problem is, by not classing Yokai as fairies, Mawile should have been Steel/Ghost instead of Steel/Fairy.

So in gamefreak’s mind, Bellossom isn’t a fairy, but Yokai are. Buncha weirdos.

          • In my mind it makes sense for nature spirits like elves, and maybe gnomes, goblins or (at a push, if they don’t look spooky) treants to be fairies, but Yokai should be ghosts.

          • I can partly understand how selective breeding could result in pampered and devious Meowths whom never deal with tough urban lifestyles (and not for nothing they already could learn many Dark Type moves to begin with)
But something like a Fire/Ghost Marowak just will not cut it, they better explain the hell out of it when the official release releases

          • “I’m kind of leaning with you now because I can only explain Alolan Sandshrew/slash and Vulpix ”

          • My shoes are already off lol I need more biological/physiological/biochemical logic to the “adaptation” that GF is using…

          • My only guess is the lore of the nine tailed fox – a fairy tale. The problem with that logic is that, if lore/fairy tales make a fairy typing, then we’d have a crap ton more fairies.

Conclusion: I’m as stumped as you and @EarthenWarrior are

      • Seems to have developed to defend against Bewear. Ghost immune to both STABs and Fire because of Bewear’s Fluffy ability. Also, you know, like when you’re camping you use a fire to scare animals, namely bears. Maybe that’s why he has a torch?

      • Either way, what’s wrong with that? It, in my opinion, looks way more badass than the regular Marowak. Imagine what its movepool would consist of? Especially since Marowak is physical Pokémon.

Adaptation is supposed to be to things like environmental change, and sometimes to predators, but ghost type doesn’t make sense when you put it in logical terms

This is why I hate Fairies so god damn much is the people constantly making everything out to be a fairy

      • For one the fairy type has very few pokemon represent it and they broke down the very powerful Dragon type plus with their weakness being poison that brought up their usefulness in the game. So fairy types were very much needed to help get more types shine. As for persian being part fairy just my personal opinion.

Rotom is Motor backwards just as Ekans was Snake backwards.

Times don’t change all that much.

          • Well Clink is more of an onemonopea than a word and the rest are at least pronounced differently unlike Muk, Persian, Ghastly, Haunter, Seel, Dewgong, Electrode, Drowzee, and probably more that I can’t remember. The ones mentioned above are puns not just straight misspelled words.

          • An onomatopoeia is a real word.
Espurr is pronounced the same as Esper but with a longer R, which is effectively the same rule as Drowzee.
Haunter isn’t a real word, nor a mispelt real word.
Dewgong is a pun on dew because it’s part water.
Tirtouga is a misspelt spanish word.

          • Whatever dude, I’m not going to argue with you because we could go on all day. I believe that poor names are a lot less common nowadays and you think there still are bad names. There’s not much more to say.

          • No, I’m pointing out the fact that Delfin wasn’t that bad compared to some of the names already in existance in multiple generations. They could have changed the f to a ph to make Delphin, it wouldn’t make much difference, either way it still fits in.

    • Yeah, maybe we’ll see Butterfree in the anime again, with the pink Butterfree that is actually revealed of being an Alola Butterfree.

The mouth is a little freaky tho…..I imagine it opening it is and having a set of razor sharp teeth hahaha I also love Alolan Meowth and Marowak. I’m digging Team Skull. I a get the crazy tribal thing from them. I can’t wait to see what Rockrufff’s evolution is! Then we can really get our leaks and rumors organized and decide which ones are real and which ones aren’t. I imagine the reason they announced something for the 12th officially is the fact that we got info on Team skull. The past few times CoroCoro has come out there has only been 2 Pokemon shown in it and the official Pokemon accounts didn’t announce the trailers we ended up getting. This time around we got info on actual characters. lol

Bewear prevo: weird mouth that doesn’t fit it’s muzzle although I’m pretty sure bewear’s didn’t either. Glad it’s a full line (like sunny said below). Still won’t use it.

Sandcastle: love. I’m probably in the minority but item Pokemon and cool concepts like these show the most creativity. Plus, it eats pikachu.

Fish: reminds me of the book about Swimmy from my childhood (I said this earlier last night) and I love that. Look it up if you don’t know and buy it for your kids. :)))

Team skull: lame name. Insterested in their motive nonetheless. Also, that Doctor brown comment made my week.

Alolan meowth: looks odd for some reason. Can’t put my finger on it. Please make Persian a panther.

Alolan marowak: would have liked to see more tribal markings and such. The ghost type makes sense since it’s the dead mother of cubone. But all in all its a little underwhelming for a fire type. Would have loved to see a charred mask with tribal markings or something. And brighter colors overall.

  77. My thoughts on this info:
Yowashi: it could be cool, but it doesn’t appeal to me personally.
Sunabaa + Evo: The ghost type really makes this one for me. It has a cool design though I may not put it on my team.
Bewear prevo: I don’t like it much but I don’t like Bewear either, so maybe that’s it.
Alolan Forms: Marowak was expected, I’m interested to see the explanation for meowth.
Team Skull: I keep thinking about the team from PMD2, I kinda wish they chose a better name. Though I wish we knew what they wanted to do.
Rockruff: what can they mean by secret? As in a split evo, or is it just a bad wording for a regular evo?

Best thing about the CoroCoro info is that none of these new guys were in the “dex leak” from a few days ago, so it’s confirmed fake.

Idk what I’d do to make it have the form, but make it interesting at least lol. I also guess that means maybe it’ll be a one stage. I though the bigger fish was it’s evolution when I first saw it. In exchange, I’ll translate the trainers names for you and then post them again as a standalone comment.

The white haired guy is Boss Guzuma (Bosu no guzuma). The pink haired biker chick is Purumeri. The sign on the two grunts is something like ‘Shitappa’ or ‘Shitabba’ and then ‘dan’ which means team (i.e. Roketto dan = Team Rocket).

      • I don’t get why everyone says that Magearna will have a role in the games. It’s an event Pokémon like Shaymin, Victini and Diancie. Mythicals never had a role in the games and never will. It’s just there to be there.

I’m loving how they are using Lysandre. He’s actually a perfect villian towards ash and co. So friendly and warming to them but so much evil behind closed doors.

    Reply
          • Haha I’m actually a big fan of Ash. I think it’s mainly because when I was a kid the anime just started so I’m USD to having him haha 🙂

          • Yeah same, I still hate him though, and wish they had someone who was consistent in their battling and mind frame, its like sometimes he forgets everything he knows about battling and pokemon and is just a big derp and then wonders why he loses, but now he shouldn’t have those problems

          • Never really hated Ash except for BW. Best Wishes was a piece of crap (sry). During the Sinnoh arc Ash was so awesome. I recently rewatched the Sinnoh league and god, he was good. I like him in Kalos too, he’s quite good. Don’t like his team too much though.

          • lol thats funny, I actually really liked the BW anime, sinnoh was fine, I just never liked dawns design and didn’t think brock making a return added anything to it so I was kinda meh about it all, but yeah XY was good, XYZ so far looks to be like the best they have had in a long time though

          • XYZ is certainly the most plot-heavy part of the anime so far and I like it. Episode N was something similar to this but it just didn’t feel right to me for some reason. Ash-Greninja is a very good addition in my opinion, the battles look so much more intense since it first appeared. It makes things epic.

          • Ash will win. The descriptions of the episodes confirm it. They probably did it because Alola doesn’t have any Gyms and they don’t know what’ll happen after that.

          • And lose against the Elite Four I bet. Because if you let Ash become a Pokemon Master, then the show itself is out of their cash-cow mascot.

          • Well, the known plot after the League is about Team Flare and then something more about Ash-Greninja if I remember correctly. After that, it’s a mystery. Btw, Ash could totally beat Diantha, she’s weak. Ash-Greninja is OP.

          • Even so, he woudn’t be able to beat Cynthia.

Well then he never had the chance after Tobias.

          • You’re too right she is. She’s even the inspiration for Selena and her son Karius in my comic series, ‘Elzeron Chronicles’. The inspiration of it is actually what if Cynthia had children?

          • Well to be fair he kinda already did in a way…he was offered the opportunity to be a frontier brain, wasn’t he?

        • Yeah! I really hope that too! Leave it to Pokemon to make you excited about the possibility of the protagonist winning in the end lol

It supposedly from a different person, but he’s been predicting new stuff left and right even before April. He’s been doing it through releasing hints and riddles rather than just coming right out and saying the stuff. Like one time he released a picture of a Pikachu in a tablecloth. another hint was a picture of Litleo and Zubat. Presumably hinting at Solgaleo and Lunala. It’s an interesting read if anyone wants to read what they have so far. lol

  86. I just saw these and I’m surprised about it, the leak wasn’t true I suppose (Aw… I wanted that Dragon/Fighting.. D:).
Anyway, what I think about this leak. To be honest, I love that Bear pre evolution, it’s extremely cute. The Sand Castle Idea is something I’m digging (didn’t mean it as a pun) because it’s another Ground/Ghost and also as seen in the leak it can turn into quicksand and trap the foe, which is very creative. And the Alola Marowak was something to expect because of the Captain owning one, but I think it’s cool how it has a black tone with a charred mask, as well as the stick is now similar to the batons they use in Hawaiian Fire Performances.
Really the only thing I’m disappointed about would have to be Alola Meowth, Basically it looks exactly like a regular Meowth with a different pose and a gray recoloring. Hopefully Persian looks a lot better (perhaps a panther?). And the evil team name was something I expected to sound cool, but Team Skull is something I’ve already heard in Mystery Dungeon. However, I like their motives, as they seem like regular criminals like Team Rocket.

    Reply
    • I really hope Persian is a panther, that would be amazong. And as for the team, the name could chsnge, as skull is the Japanese translation

      Reply
          • Darn:/ well that’s a big bummer, hopefully they’re a good team atleast. A lot of interaction in story, not some lame group that wants a Lil thing

          • I’m pretty sure there will be a lot of story, they are making the Island Guardians prominent to the story as well as Solgaleo/Lunala, so don’t worry

        • I was genuinely surprised that with all these hints towards alchemy surely the team would be like that, but as it turns out, they’re just criminals, something I like. Perhaps there’s another team, not part of Team Skull, who has an involvement with the legendaries?

          Reply
  87. Im saying it now! Team skull are probably pirates! look at how much water we have around the region, their outfits seem very pirate-esqu and skull is just something you would equate to pirates, perhaps their goal is to basically cause havoc on all the islands and rob people and such

    Reply
    • Yeah Team Skull are looking like that. For some reason I still believe that there’s another evil team focused on the legendaries due to all these hints towards Alchemy.

      Reply
      • they could be involved in that too, you never know, after all skull can also equate to necromancy and that kinda goes along the same lines as alchemy sometimes, also his black coat could be a lab coat I suppose, (idk)

        • They don’t strike me as the intelligent type, I think they’re just some group of violent crazies who pretty much want to rough up the islands to their liking

          • Yeah same here. Maybe the 2 teams work together and Team Skull acts like the grunts of the two while the other team has the scientists, higher ranks, and the leader of the group.

          • have you seen the forehead on Plumerl? she’s gotta have some intelligence, her brain is clearly stretching her skull, lol jk

But in all honesty the two main people (not the grunts) do look like they would be intelligent

    • I hope their motive is just to live mindless, loot things, break young girls’ hearts…etc. If that picture is the boss, gosh, I want him to be my boss too. He can break my heart and I know he won’t care. His careless thing will make me fall in love with him for more. Bad boys…always fascinated me.

  96. Wow, that list got disproved fast… I’m happy it did, It had loads of really cool stuff in it (that was an obvious flag too), but the lack of fossils was bad and I didn’t want to have been spoiled. I’m just surprised at how many people automatically took it as legit for some reason, the number of pokétubers who were saying they thought it was the legit thing especially was a bit sad IMO.

    Anyway onto those designs:

-As much as I’ve grown to like Bewear, it’s prevo looks horrendous. It’s disproportionate head and strange face weird me out. I do appreciate that it looks more like a red panda and that it’s going for the teddy bear look, but they could have combined those ideas to produce a much better design IMO. Overall, I’m happy we got a Red Panda line, but kinda disappointed by the execution of it, it doesn’t really convey the cute awesomeness these things have in real life (though the cute but deadly idea they are going for is a nice one).

-I really like the idea behind the sandcastles, especially their hunting strategy, but I’ve seen a bunch of better sandcastle fakemons so these leave me a little underwhelmed. I do feel the in-game models will look better though. At least they have a cool typing that the base stage’s design reflects neatly. And for those complaining about item pokémon, a possessed sandcastle that’s essentially a predatory sand blob makes more sense than a keyring fairy any day.

-The schooling fish is a cool idea, it’s design works fine, nothing much else to say about it. Wonder if it’ll have an evo… I doubt it because of it’s form, but seeing such a small fish not evolve is weird to me.

-Alolan meowth doesn’t do it for me atm, like other people have said it just looks like a recolour with a weird pose, though I think that’s just the way it’s art is done, so I’ll wait until I see the model to pass judgment. The backstory is cool.

-Alolan Marowak has a nice design and a cool typing. It’s not like it was a surprise though haha. I kinda think they could have gone further with the design though, it’s a tad underwhelming to me. Hope we get dual mega-marowaks someday, with one being ground-ghost with a floating skeletal armour and parental bond, and the other with a flaming skul…

-Nice to have a confirmation to the evil team. I like the leaders design, but I’m not a of the punk aesthetic in general at all, so that girl doesn’t appeal to me whatsoever. The grunts are ok. In any case we have so little information on their goals and motivations that it’s just impossible to judge the team’s quality at this point.

Overall a nice leak as usual, though it’s probably the one that leaves me the most underwhelmed by the new pokémon.. But that’s not to say they’re bad at all, this gen has set the bar ridiculously high!

If they in fact show Rockruff has multiple “forms” or even if they show just one and hint at the rest, if the types match, it’d be pretty safe to assume everything tied to that leak is real. Granted, we may even find that out Friday if they reveal something other than these mons from CoroCoro.

        • That actually doesn’t bother me at all. The moustache is not glaring, and it’s easy to see the two top doors that resemble eys, so the third one doesn’t make it look that strange. Just my opinion based on what I see in the scans.

            Rowlet
            Rockruff
            Sandcastle

          • i like having fire/grass/water/ground pokemon that are dual type so my team rn is probably going to be rowlett, salandrit, wimpod, and sandcastle. i probably pick a random fairy ice dragon or dark pokemon to fill the last two spots

          • I don’t really have a system. I pick the Pokemon I really like, but I try to avoid overlapping weaknesses, but seriously the Rock and ground types have been pretty cool this gen in my opinion. Can’t avoid all the water weaknesses.

The weird thing is the dex leak has names that fit the new reveals softle, panquake, pesp and Peskool(which can be it’s forms name) still I’m gonna see if their English names are the same they probably either guess the typings or took out Beware’s pre evo to not get in trouble by Gamefreak who knows what they were thinking.

    • They say it’s not a sandcastle Pokémon, but that’s exactly what its classification really is: Shirodesuna, The Sand Castle Pokémon.
Sunabaa is the Sand Pile Pokémon.

      Reply
      • I think that makes it seem more legit though. Shirodesuna roughly means “that’s a castle” or “it’s a castle, isn’t it” which implies that it’s forcing people to believe it’s a sand castle, which would imply it’s actually not a sandcastle, which would imply it’s a ghost. Yay pun names

Like how Sudowoodo is like Pseudo Wood, which means like wood, which implies it’s not quite wood, which it isn’t because it’s a rock pretending to be a tree.

        • That’s all nice and everything, but I’m merely talking about how that person said it’s not a sandcastle when it is. Unless it has another form that reveals its “true form” when it gets hit by a Water-type attack and looses its Ground-typing, it is still a sand castle, haunted or not.

Plus, it’s classified as the Sand Castle Pokémon. Now if it were classified as the Imitation Sand Castle Pokémon, I’d agree with it not really being a sandcastle. How would that person even know that “fact” about Shirodesuna, anyhow? Serebii nor Bulbapedia has mentioned that, so I’m guessing that wasn’t revealed in this CoroCoro leak.

          Reply
          • Fair enough, but sand is still sand when wet and the ground is still the ground when soaked.
I’d prefer for Shirodesuna to obtain different appearances, somewhat like Furfrou. That sandcastle is looking kinda busted. We need better options.

  106. I’m not going to support the pokedex leak, but something doesn’t seem right. sure, they didn’t get something as obvious as a bewear pre-evo, but correctly stating something as specific as a school of fish? I guess the details of it are a bit different than the leak led us to believe though…

  108. The awesome thing about the Alolan forms of Pokémon is that they make people like me reconsider using “older” Pokémon during the initial playthrough because they’re kinda brand new with new typings, abilities and moves. I would never have used a Marowak in 7th gen, but now I’m strongly considering it.

    • This is what I’ve been telling people for ages. X&Y wasn’t easy, the Exp Share mechanic made things level up 3x faster 😛

      Reply
      • Here’s the thing. The old style EXP is share is needed to in order to avoid having to switch train….and allowing you to train up one Pokemon at a time.
The new style EXP share is unneeded since it makes the game too easy, however it helps with EV training multiple Pokemon at once

My solution. Have the only style EXP share until post-game, where you can upgrade it to the newer style.

        Reply
        • I’m fine with Lucky Egg replacing the hold version of Exp share.
Reserving it until the after game is reasonable enough though.

          • But why do you have to take pokemon so bloody seriously? Why does every design or type have to make sense with it’s lore?
Is it not possible to have a pokemon be one type because it’d be pretty cool to some people, especially when it’s an alternate form or evolution?

          • That’s also a terrible philosophy.

I don’t understand how pokemon went from a game where you collect some badass creatures and make them fight other badass creatures to a game where everything has to make sense.

Does Dragon Exeggutor make sense? Hell no. But it’s funny and cool so they put it in.

          • Yes it does actually. Aside from being based upon the Dracaena plant (known as the dragon palm), gaining dragon powers makes it stronger against fire, water, grass and electricity, all of which are common types, especially in Alola, a place with a volcano, lush forests and deep oceans. Exeggutor became part dragon in order to survive. Survival of the fittest.

          • Because if things aren’t backed by logic, the lack of logic can be used to explain more and more crazy ideas and encourages lazy writing. The more bad logic creeps in, the more they can do crazy deus ex machina stuff like “the villain was actually a robot” or “it was all a dream” or “pikachu can be any type it wants to”. It’s writing/worldbuilding 101.

          • Pokedex: “… The electric owl pokemon. It’s an electric owl cuz electric owls are cool and it desparately wants to be cool.”

          • That’s like saying “sharks evolved into sharks because they thought being sharks would be cool”. Apart from making zero sense, it’s a paradox – a shark cannot become a shark because it thinks sharks are cool if sharks don’t already exist. Plus a species doesn’t just become what it wants, it becomes what it needs to be. Pikachu became electric because its electricity is a good weapon against other pokemon it encounters and because it can zap berries to make them more paletable, and all those other reason that fill the pokedex. Exeggutor has a long neck because of photosynthesis. These things make sense, they are building blocks, they are good writing. “Because it’s cool” is really awful 10 year old-level writing.

  110. For those who watched the demo at E3. Was the gameplay footage used final? If so, and I know I am late for just realizing this now, then we can say that Pikachu does not have an Alola form because your rival is using a perfectly ordinary Pikachu. This also extends to any ordinary Pokemon we found in the wild such as Ledyba.

    Reply
    • Alolan Exeggutor is the evo of a perfectly normal Exeggcute so it’s not out of the question yet. But I don’t think that any of these would have Alolan Forms because they’re very early.

          • Yeah but scythed is clearly based more on the praying mantis than scizzor is. I actually don’t even know what scizzors based off of

          • I was anticipating someone pulling that one.
If Octillery didn’t evolve from Remoraid, what other existing pokemon would it potentially evolve from?

          • Nothing, really, but who says it had to evolve from something? It would’ve been just fine as a standalone.

          • Fair enough.
Gamefreak were probably trolling on that one.
Point still stands, out of Scyther and Ledian, Scizor is more likely to evolve from Scyther in terms of appearance. If they’d had alt forms back then, it probably would have just been an alt form because of the stats.

    • I doubt it was final; they never show final footage until release. And Hau uses Pichu, so Alolan Pikachu/Raichu is still a possibility.

  111. I’m hoping the sardine evolves. The article says it’s name means “weak sardine,” and from what I can remember off the top of my head, if a Pokemon name implies that it’s weak it usually evolves into something that’s not weak. The only problem is that ability. I wouldn’t be mad if it lost the ability upon evolution; it it could just a survival tactic for a weaker evolution.

It’s just a Ghost that resides in coastal areas and can minipulate sand to capture prey

      Reply
      • Its inanimate because sand castles – the thing the Pokemon is based on- aren’t living things.

Every generation has at least one poke based on an inanimate object. Inanimate means “not biological”

        Reply
        • But it’s not a sandcastle; it’s a ghost inhabiting a sandcastle. It’s perfectly biological (assuming ghosts are considered living in the Pokemon world).

          Reply
          • Dude chill with the technacalitys. I just said every gen has at least one Pokemon based on an INANIMATE OBJECT. Something in the REAL WORLD that’s not alive. Last gen we had a ghost sword as well as a fairy type car keys. These objects IN THE REAL WORLD, are inanimate. They aren’t alive and never will be. I know what is SUPPOSED to be but that doesn’t stop the real world inspiration which is a sand castle.

          • Something like rotom on the other hand IS a ghost that literally goes around possessing objects. But rotom isn’t based on a fridgerator or lawn mower the same way ghostcastle is based on a SAND CASTLE

          • Alright, I know when I’ve been proven wrong, but it looks like I’m not the one who needs to chill. We’re both correct, but we were viewing the concept from different perspectives, and I see that now.

          • Minerals aren’t alive. Minerals are things like crystals – they’re just simple inanimate chemical constructs.

          • Humans are a mass of various chemical constructs.
Your brain is a big mass of cells transmitting electricity.

“Minerals can be described by various physical properties which relate to
their chemical structure and composition. Common distinguishing
characteristics include crystal structure and habit, hardness, lustre, diaphaneity, colour, streak, tenacity, cleavage, fracture, parting, and specific gravity. More specific tests for minerals include magnetism, taste or smell, radioactivity and reaction to acid.”

The point is, minerals are not alive. Sand is not alive.

          • Science + Pokemon = Happiness.

I would like a pokemon that is capable of performing electrolysis 😀

          • I’m still waiting on a bacteria or legit virus pokemon. Something for my own because I’m a Microbiologist

          • Maybe a mutation of Pokerus or something?
A bacteria like pokemon would definately be interesting. At the moment the closest we’ve got to that is Solosis.
Or some new mechanic, like a new temporary status condition similar to curse?

          • Agreed. Part of the (biological?) definition of “living” is that it must metabolize. Certainly, sand does not have a metabolism 😛

          • “A chemical substance is a form of matter that has constant chemical
composition and characteristic properties.” “Chemical substances can be
chemical elements, chemical compounds, ions or alloys.”

            SCIENCE!

          • “A chemical substance is a form of matter that has constant chemical composition and characteristic properties.” “Chemical substances can be chemical elements, chemical compounds, ions or alloys.”

‘Pure compound’ and ‘chemical construct’ are not mutually exclusive terms. Helium and hydrogen are chemicals technically, as are (presumably) isotopes of all chemical elements/compounds.

          • Oh I was just using pure as isolating a chemical compound from contaminates. It does, however, still have a chemical composition because, well, everything is chemistry haha. Hope I didn’t confuse you.

    • No 5 year old I know would have come up with that design. 5 year olds can barely hold a pen or colour within the lines.

The sandcastle is brilliant cos it shows creativity. How can we make something normal and fun into something scary and dangerous.

Read the description in Serebii. The little one is literally the manefestation a Pokemon’s grudge, whereas the larger one traps and steels the life force of Pokemon, in the process forming more of the little one. Well done Gamefreak, well done.

      Reply
      • Wait what. ..? 5 year olds are much more able than u assume. It doesn’t have to be a perfect drawing to resemble something.

        Reply
        • A 5 year old may be able to draw a sandcastle, but a 5 year old would not make the towers look like arms, nor would they come up with the concept behind the Pokemon (which is all part of its overall design)

      • “No 5 year old I know would have come up with that design. 5 year olds can barely hold a pen or colour within the lines.”

So it’s just like the person who drew that sandcastle pokemon?

        Reply
        • Except the person who came up with the idea, actually came up with the idea (that’s why we are able to see it), and the colouring is within the confines of the Pokemon.

          Reply
          • “The design looks like it was drawn by a 5 year old” Nobody but you said anything about coming up with the design.

If we’re going to discuss the level of creativity, I’d rank it at the level of a fakemon designed by a 12 year old, drawn with the skills of a 5 year old.

          • So it was designed by a 12 year old, and drawn by a 5 year old. Sorry, my bad, I didn’t understand. Not sure how meaningful these arbitrary numbers are, but cool.

Personally the drawing was able to fully convey the design and concept to me, therefore I have the impression that this is a good Pokemon.

          • Vanillish’s drawing was able to fully convey the design and concept of an ice cream to me, therefore …
Garbador’s drawing was able to fully convey the design and concept of an ice cream to me, therefore …

          • Yes. It’s called opinion. Everyone has one. Everyone sees things differently. If the concept and design appeal to you as an individual you will like it, and you will defend your opinion when challenged.
I find this Sandcastle more interesting than Garbodour and I always thought Garboduor was great. Vanilluxe is something I was never find of, but I know some people are.

Also careful when copy and pasting 😉

          • My point was that your reasoning that a pokemon gives you a good impression just because the drawing conveying a design/concept is illogical. A drawing can convey a design/concept perfectly, it does not change the subject matter. That’s like daying “draw a lump of cow poo well enough and it will make people like cow poo”.

You say everyone has an opinion – Vlad had an opinion, you’re the one who started disputing it, I and others came along afterwords.

          • Fair enough. I will accept my mistake. I was more taken aback by the manor in which he made his opinion known. And as I said its natural to defend something you like.

And I can reverse your argument by simply saying a design done by a 12 year old or a drawing done by a 5 year old doesn’t make it a bad design nor drawing, so why use that argument in the first place…

Personally I’m not a fan of the Bewear line, and I have made my opinion on that known, however I have refrained from arguing against people who like it.

Sorry if I came across as defensive, but personally I liked the drawing and the design, and it has stood out to me amongst almost everything else revealed this gen.

          • Well, all I’m going to say is there are many of us who ~really~ don’t like the sandcastle. If any of us are going to be convinced, it’s going to be by game footage, not people.

          • From my experience. Once you form an opinion on something, it’s very difficult to have that opinion changed.

Personally for me I have to see a Pokemon is two different way. Design/Concept and Competitive Viability. I can like somethings design but know it’s bad competitively, or I can dislike a design, but have no qualms about using it competitively if it’s good. A good example would be TalonFlame (poor designwise, good competitively).

  113. I’m now split on the new alolan forms. On one hand they’re pretty cool, but on the other they may as well be new Pokemon. Atleast they finally put real evolution in the game.

    • I’m convinced they’ll get new Pokedex numbers and movesets and generally be considered new Pokemon because it would be easier than treating that many Pokemon as forms. I could be wrong though.

        • All Wormadam and Gastrodon have the same abilites among their different forms, and Gastrodon have the same types and movesets. However, Alolan variants are confirmed to have different abilities and types (and likely different moves). It could realistically go either way.

          Reply
          • What belmad said.
            Meowstic is proof positive.
Besides I don’t think they’d waste new numbers on them if they’ve got the same name, it’s just be more for fans to remember.
Most fans would instinctively think “Ninetales, gen 1, first 151” not “Oh but it’s alolan Ninetales so I’ve got to go all the way to the end”.

          • I guess that’s a pretty solid point, but I’m hoping it turns out the way I mentioned. I’ve got my PC sorted by Pokedex number, so I’d hate two have to Exeggutor with the same spot in the box. :p

          • I’ve got a box for forms that won’t fit in their respective boxes, but I hate how inconvenient it is. I suppose I can keep doing that with Alolan forms, but I’ll still hate the inconvenience.

          • Moar boxes.

Seriously, more boxes is on my wishlist.
I don’t trust pokemon box because it’s on an external server and it’s subscription based. I’d rather buy a device that works as a pokemon storage device that the 3DS can interface with, so I know if my pokemon go missing it’ll be my fault and I can accept it. If Nintendo Bank’s servers died and lost loads of pokemon, I’d never trust Nintendo servers again.

          • That’s why I keep a living ‘Dex on whatever the newest game is, and another living ‘Dex in Bank. That way if one’s lost, I’ll still have the other.

          • I used to keep living dexes, but since I took up IV training it’s been becoming harder. I think now I’d settle for “the tools to rebuild my dex should it be required”.

Seriously though, a little external brick that can infra-red connect to the 3DS and store pokemon. Like pokemon box, but a one off pocket sized device instead of a rare gamecube disk. Would solve so much because Nintendo wouldn’t have to keep their servers running so it would be cheaper and players would have it as a one off purchase instead of subscription. It would be cheap to make: some SD-grade flash memory and a really basic ARM/AVR CPU with an infrared thing and maybe a monochrome display for feedback, or just some lights and a simple dot matrix.

Sorry, got carried away. I’m a programmer, these sorts of things interest me 😛

          • I did never pay Any attention to the national dex, only on the regional dex, so thats what i meant

          • Nope, regional dex will have custom numbering as ordinary.
The point is the alola and kanto forms share the same numbers in both.

          • The company have a habit of recycling old plits for the newer audiences, so that’s why I’ve stopped watching.Once you’ve seen the original, you’ve pretty much seen them all.

Perhaps if Ash does win Kalos and become the new Champion, and after dealing with this new problem, he’d pretty much deserves a holiday (Vacation), and what better than Alola.

          • No. Not this season at least. I wish they would tbh, cuz nothing beats the naivety and brattiness of the original seasons to me. But they want Ash and Pikachu and friends to be Very Mature 10yr olds ?

          • 13 actually in the original Japanese dub. That’s the age anyone becomes a Pokemon Trainer. Which of course is apparently the age of consent.

          • don’t believe me? look it up!

I think you’ll find perfectly well of why the female Playable Characters for each game has clothes that look too much to what mature people would wear, know what I’m saying?

          • well try telling that to Japan, they often do strange things over there.

In fact there were bits in the actual anime that were cut out because of it being inappropriate, such as James having boobs, the use of guns. And don’t forget with the Cheryl and Combees episode where this notorious Meowth daydream was cut out showing the boss, covering his entire body with honey and letting wild pokemon lick him.

Yeah, pretty much Japan if you know what I as a western person is saying?

          • Actually I see… But it’s almost as if they decided to make him 10 even in Japan soon after that. No where mentions him being 13 again aside from the original jap dub. I think they decided to make him 10 even there. But no one seems to know. Everyone says 10

          • yeah! they made 10 for the purpose of marketing it for little kids.

Seems strange when Takato from Digimon Tamers is actually 13?

          • No see… That I disagree with. Because everywhere considers him 10 only. I think they changed it. Less u can find proof for us. My Google results only mention dub

          • well from what I’ve heard he was suppose to be 13. Not only that, Ash was suppose to win the Kanto league, marry Misty, have kids, and then the next anime will focus on Ash’s kids adventure through Johto.

Though it never went that way, it would make ‘generation’ perfect sense.

          • “What I’ve heard”. From who exactly? First time I’ve heard of that.

Ash marrying Misty sounds like pure fanfiction.
Also Johto was only set a few years after Kanto, the returning gym leaders, elite 4 and champion haven’t aged much.

          • I watched a subbed one whilst pottering around youtube and I was surprised how much more mature it seemed. Even if Ash used a horrible tactic that wouldn’t work in the game (it was his battle with the fairy gym leader, he used X-Scissor on a Wonder Room or something crazy).

          • Lol I remember that. I don’t know if I would call it horrible.. seeing as it’s the “real world” to them.
I wish he behaved his age more.. tbh

          • I just wish they’d stick to the rules of the game, or let us do what they do in the anime.

I still think ash is older but they just don’t mention it.
Either that or I’ll go with a crack theory: the real ash is in a coma and the entire thing is one long dream. In reality years have passed, but in his mind, ash is forever 10.

          • Sticking to the rules of the game, letting us do anime stuff or being stuck in a coma in a dream where you’re 10?

    • Well done, Shady. This will probably be like Red Genesect and never been seen outside of Japan because Gamefreak hates the rest of the world.

Also, their hiring a Retail Marketer Consoles and Portables. This seriously seems like the NX will end up being that x86 console and AMD handheld due to the separate marketing agents and the necessity of a Linux engineer. Also, the PS4 used Linux OS as well during it’s development.

      • No problem. The EuroGamer rumour stated that the NX is a Tegra X1 processor and it will be a hybrid system. Other rumours have stated that the NX will be an x86 processor (which the PS4 and XBO uses) console and an AMD handheld. This basically disproves their rumour with Nintendo hiring separate marketers and needing a Linux Engineer as Linux OS uses x86. Basically, the NX is likely a separate console and handheld. I hope that made it a bit easier. 🙂

      • x86/x64 is the instruction set used by the main Intel family of processors (probably what you’ve got in your computer).
ARM is intel’s main competator, they also make PCs but are less popular and less used.
Linux is another family of operating systems like windows, except it’s build very differently and is more for people with technical backgrounds. It was created as an open source (the code for it is available to all people) version of Unix by a very very angry man called Linus Torvalds.
Linux’s kernel (it’s absolute base parts) is what underlies Android and Raspbian, and presumably PS4’s OS based on what libra says.

        It’s a long complicated story 😛

  121. What do we all think Rockruff’s secret evolution is? I’m already think it has something to do with the night as it is likely going to become a werewolf. There might even be a new held item that correspondences to the day and night and evolves a Pokemon while it’s held at certain level. This might even follow the starters as well as their rumour to have two evolutions. It’s obviously to early to predict, but I think the starters we saw might be the “Night Forms”. To describe briefly:

    “Day Forms”:
    Rowlet – Grass/Ground
    Litten – Fire
    Poppilo – Water/Fighting

    “Night Forms”:
    Rowlet – Grass/Flying
    Litten – Fire/Dark
    Poppilo – Water/Fariy

Honestly, I still think the starters we saw will be their only evos. Yet, their is no need to downplay hope.

How about throwing that out and thinking of something that people haven’t been raving on about for days?

      Reply
    • I could see that. I honestly think the only way for the leaks we saw and those typings we got off the website to both be completely real is for the starters to have two different evolutions. I mean I can’t see Rowlet losing it’s flying type unless it keeps it in another. And there’s no way that Mermaid is a fighting type. They’re building a mystery around both Rockruff and the starters and they’ve never done this before. I mean obviously the starer evos are always a mystery until the games come out, but they’ve never made a point to tell us something is up with them before. I think we can really say that the this gen will have the first split evos for starers ever. All the info we have isn’t quite connecting up and the only link that I can possibly think would fit the bill would be two different final evos lol

    Reply
    • Exeggcute had no change. So, I assume it’s staying Grass/Psychic, then evolving into the Grass/Dragon meme-machine of Alolan Exeggutor.

      Reply
      • It doesn’t change aesthetically, but because we don’t have any information on it we can’t definitively say that there’s NO change. Besides what would determine what Exeggutor your Exeggcute evolves into if both Exeggcute are identical?

        Reply
        • Where it came from. Alola Exeggucutes = Alolan Exeggutors. Exeggucutes outside Alola (from Pokemon Bank or VC games) = Regular, no-neck Exeggutor.

          Reply
          • I know that, but my point is it’s illogical for one Pokemon to evolve (Exeggutor) while it’s pre-evo doesn’t. That would mean every Exeggutor would have to manipulate its DNA to alter the Kantoan Psychic type to the now Alolan Dragon type. Unless of course it’s pure Grass now.

          • or it just means that Exeggucutes found in Alola just evolve into Alolan Exeggutor. Others not found in Alola become the regular one. Which is the case for all Alolan Pokemon.

          • my question is if you take an alolan form pokemon and the same non alolan-pokemon breed which one would we get?

        • It all depends on where that Exeggcute was born.
Alola: It evolves into an Alolan Exeggutor.
Kalos, Unova, Sinnoh, Hoenn, Johto, or Kanto: It evolves into a regular Exeggutor.

          • My starter is Rowlet, and Salandit seems promising, I might add it on. Marowak looks promising too, but it’s appearance seems dull and I wanted a colorful looking team so it could fit in with the Hawaii feel.

          • In my case, I really like all of the Pokemon revealed besides the Bewear line (hey you can’t like all of the Pokemon in a generation). Since we can only have six Pokemon on a team and I have a hard time rotating, I am withholding my judgements for many of them. I am committed to Popplio and Mimikyu, and Meowth if it has a good ability.

          • I am not saying that it isn’t, it could be the best Pokemon this generation. It is just the “hug you till your spine breaks” doesn’t really bode well with me, and I am already hesitant of hugs as is.

    • I bet we’ll see something new. If they wanted to repeat the CoroCoro info, they likely wouldn’t’ve announced a video so far in advance. GF isn’t stupid, they know CoroCoro was going to leak, so if it was that they should’ve made the video air before the magazine.

    • Let’s call it Team Corporate: a team that tries to industrialize rural areas and demolish homes and Pokemon centers so they can build factories. There’s a moral lesson about pollution. Legendaries that they get entangled with are either a Steel/Poison monster that thrives in pollution, or a Grass/Dragon protector that cleans up said pollution.

      Reply
      • When I was thinking of Ideas for a Fangame, I thought that there would be a pollution legendary living in a place not unlike the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The place would be an entire island made of garbage and it’s Dowsing Machine Paradise.

      • That sounds neat! The idea of Team Skull primarily utilizing Poison-type Pokemon (to tie in with the pollution theme) and their overall goal dealing with industrialization is a great idea! I would also like to add that their main drive could be to harness Alola’s natural resources and build a corporate and factories (the latter which you already stated)… this is interesting!

        Reply
    • What I would want:
      – Team Skull is a group of villainous treasure hunters/pirates who hunt down treasured Pokemon and items. However the team begins to be less than satisfied with just rare Pokemon and working for other parties and begin to look towards bigger things. Thus, their team leader has his eyes on the biggest and grandest prize of all: Solgaleo and/or Lunala, the emissaries of the very things that create and enable life. They have several admins similar to Team Flare that control their own ships and their HQ is a giant ship controlled by their leader.

      Reply
    • Team GRAMPS in Pokemon Rainbow, the game with all the regions (team flare is gone because reasons (maybe their motives were too similar to team galatic)). Their goal is to simultaneously do everything all the evil teams from previous games wanted to do. Their leader is none other than the gramps that started it all; Professor Oak.

      Reply
        • Exactly. Flare was a horrible team IMO, completely unoriginal. Lysander probably played DPPt, and thought “hey that sounds cool”.

          • tbh I put all teams above team galactic, I adore space but absolutely do not care for anything about team galactic, from their designs to their motives, team flare is pretty low on my list of fav teams too but they had so much potential, I loved their design, the suits were fantastic, I just wish they were more fashion police based kinda thing instead of trying to be edgy and destroy the world essentially

          • That hurts my heart. They have one of the better evil team plans and leaders, plus the commander’s were actually memorable, unlike neo rocket, flare, or aqua/magma (before oras)

          • sorry, I disagree but thats ok, I find team galactic quite forgettable and drab, my definitive ranking would be:
            1.Team Aqua
2.Team Plasma (BW2 Designs are the better ones)
            3.Team Rocket
            4.Team Flare
            5.Team Magma
            6.Cipher (XD and Colosseum)
            7.Team Galactic

But like, who cares am I right

          • I just thought their plan was cool because it was deeper than “destroy this world and make a better one.” It had to do with Cyrus believing emotions made people weak and evil. So I think it’s interesting to look at him on an emotional level, because he clearly becomes enraged, something he preaches against, and he displays sociopathic tendencies. Not to mention that even after you defeat him, you don’t halt his way of thinking. He’s still out there in the distortion world, plotting.

          • thats fair and that is very true, they are amazing just not amazing enough for me to put them above others, perhaps if their designs were a bit more my taste they would go up to at least slot 5, and yeah I know thats superficial, I’m trying to be batter about that 😛

          • the thing about team galactic’s motives is that they have no idea what they are doing. cyrus was a psychotic man who looked down on the human race as disgusting and imperfect, and the world should exist solely for him, the only person he sees as worth anything. He’s by far the best villain (with colress being 2nd) for his motives, not the teams.

    • I’ve always had this idea for an evil team that had a similar motive to BEGA from Beyblade g-revolution. Instead of trying to take over the world or destroy it or whatever they plan to supplant the traditional Pokemon league with their own new system. But their new system causes all kinds of damage to the environment and it treats Pokemon terribly.

So your goal is to find the old gym leaders and elite four and champion, or find new ones to help you take back control of the Pokemon league and reinstitute the league challenge.

Progression would involve both battling the old gym leaders to like reignite their spirit for battling and to get them to join you as well as simultaneously taking on the evil teams new “challenge”. Like they would cordon off all the cities and towns and you could only move on to each city by beating the admin that was placed in that city as like a mayor of sorts.

Yes I get that they predicted alolan forms, but that may be a lucky guess as no given pokémon overlap between the rumour and what we know, neither do precisions about how these forms work… People need to get their rumour confirmations straight or it’s gonna be the list all over again.

      Reply
      • I can assure you that it’s no obvious coincidence that many of the leaks the chinese leaker had mentioned are lucky guesses.

What I’ve explained about the typing for the final evolution for the starters are partially guessing, and partially from what many have speculated for the starters to be based on the typing when decoded from the Japanese Pokemon website.

Of course many other leakers are proven fake, but that does not mean the chinese one is. So far, it has gotten many things about it right months before their official reveal.

        Reply
        • Oh I do think the chinese leak is confirmed, minus potential purposeful misinformation. What I was getting at was that at least one (and I do believe all) the rumour sets on the page you linked to aren’t actually related to the chinese leak.

          • true…

But I suppose guessing the possibilities for what GF would give us is all part of the fun while we wait.

          • Oh of course! Just thought it would be useful to clear up what rumours actually are confirmed and which aren’t 🙂 .

  144. I’m banking on the Chinese leaks being at least 95% accurate. So, Pokemon transferred from the RBGY games would have Gen 5 typings and stats and would be considered as the “Regional variant” of whichever region they’re from. I guess this means that an Alakazam with a BST of 500 is considered a “Kalosian Alakazam” and that the ones with a BST of 490 are from any of the past regions (Except Hoenn).

This concept is very interesting to me. We’d be having Normal-type Clefairy and they’d either be Kantonese, Johtonese, Sinnohan or Unovan. This is basically Gamefreak’s way of saying “A-ha regional variants have always been a thing, you guys just didn’t know about them”. Not gonna lie, that’s a pretty smart excuse for introducing something as huge as Regional Variants.

The graphs I’ve taken down because I’ve messed it up or have forgotten some things in it like the artificial island. I now believe it to be fake, but all the same it was fun to do to past the time.

          • Again I think it’s great to speculate, I just wanted to make sure people weren’t mistakenly hyping up features that were backed up by the wrong rumours, it being such a mess to navigate what’s confirmed and not.
Other than that it’s a great discussion topic!!

          • knowing the english team for Game Freak, and from the look of Rowlet’s Final evolution, they would probably name it after Robin Hood, just like Empoleon reminds them of Emperor Napoleon. So Robinroot, Robinhoot, Arrowhood do seem to be the likely candidates. Although we won’t know until their official reveal.

          • Arrowhood seems weird to me because it doesn’t reference either owls or the grass type, but Robinroot/hoot are great names, and I’d really like if we got the latter. But knowing GF it might be something completely different and unexpected lol.

However people seem to be mixing up what the chinese rumours constitute exactly, as I keep seeing people evoke stuff from independent rumours, stuff that thus has in no way been corroborated by official info.

In fact I’m still kinda confused as to what exactly the chinese leaks contained, was there anything that wasn’t in the PJ article? Anyone have links?

Kind of like how he said Alola Ninetails was a Fire/Fairy when it actually was Ice/Fairy (a case of him intentionally changing a type). He could have intentionally changed Meowth to Rattata in his or her leaks.

        • Well don’t get too excited, they’re slipping up with Alola Variants
What possible reason a common mouse would go dark,

Raticate would be a somewhat more believable Dark type but I don’t see it as a malicious Pokemon just subjected to a stereotype that all rats are bad but in reality just are trying to protect itself

          Reply
          • Well acording to your tastes they’ve been slipping up since day 1 hahaha. But yeah the reason that line being dark makes sense is the obvious thematic association of rats with being pests/being bad etc, and I can reasonably see it extend to Rattata. I could easily see it as being justified by “faced with dangerous local predators it wasn’t used to in it’s home habitat, Alolan Rattata evolved to be more aggressive and devious to able to fight back”.

      Reply
    • Personally hope it’s just the Corocoro info, I’m really scared about how much they’re revealing. I would have been happy with just a little info each month, bu we’re getting spoiled (and somehow they still managed to keep massive things under wraps for a long time lol).
I honestly want GF to drop their insultingly bad publicity strategy of releasing 70% of the pokedex in XY and every single new mega in ORAS before the games came out, it just robs us of the fun of discovery.
That being said if they could prove me wrong on my prediction we’re not getting new megas, I would be ecstatic…

      Reply
      • well, we still have a couple months to go. Seeing that they revealed a lot of new pokes just means imo that there’s really a lot of new pokes.

        Reply
        • I really, really, really, really hope so, but I’d rather not be too confident. Remember when XY came out and we all thought the 72 new pokémon thing was a bad joke?

          Reply
          • yes but we got 70% like u said before the release XY. Well if this revealing will continue till the release en we will recieve 70% before hand it’s gonna be a lot right? Seeing that we already got 36 new pokemon.

            + 7 alolan forms

          • Well by this time for XY we had 29 pokémon revealed, and 6 or 7 megas, so I wouldn’t be too confident :/ . We’ll probably get more than 72 but if it’s not at least 100 new pokés I’m gonna be quite sad.

In any case revealing 70% of the pokedex is always gonna be a horrendous idea IMO. And it’s not like you can easily avoid the reveals if you want to. The second they appear your facebook feed is bombarded with them (for me at least).

          • Oh really? did not know that… I was assuming we were at 20 pokes XY time..

I don’t mind less than 100 pokemon, but they need to be way better then these 36 revealed. Only pokemon I really like are Litten, Rowlet and Rockruff. And seeing the ruined final evo of Litten, he’s no longer in the list. Also with Rockruff evolving in a werewolf… Meh,

Only truly cool poke still is Rowlet this gen.

          • Ah that’s a shame for you, to my tastes the great majority of the new pokémon are absolutely awesome, even better than what we had back then for gen VI, and that’s saying something. Maybe the general design aesthetic they went for this time isn’t for your tastes, but hopefully you’ll find some new ones you love.

      • Big woop!

I like in the UK, and we of Europe won’t get ours till 5 days later. Better getting spoils now than by the rest of the world who get there’s.

        Reply
        • Well I’m franco-british and will be at uni when the games come out so I’m in the same situation :p . (thank god because france doesn’t get the preorder figures like Game does hahahah)

I’m not trying to avoid spoilers now, but I’m deffo gonna try and do so when the games come out. And it’s not like I’ll be rabid about it, I’m just not gonna go and look at full pokedexes, etc. I did look at them for XY, but that was because there only turned out to 30 new ones (and I got spoiled a bunch), so I wasn’t worth it to wait anyway.

But it’ll be easier for me to stay away from full-pokedex spoilers when the games are released than to stay away from the officialy planned reveals and Corocoro leaks, especially as I’ll be busy with uni work and social life.

I can sort of see your point, but I have trouble understanding how some people would rather go into the game knowing everything rather than discover it for themselves…

          • I suppose is it’s all part of the fun, the get ready for what you’re about to face and what team you would like to form.

          • Meh, great as that is I still don’t see how that’s worth more than discovering things on your first playthrough, but to each their own 🙂

  150. i think the sea cucumber will be water/dark because obviously it’s a SEA cucumber and it’s colouring reminds me of a dark type 🙂

    Reply
    • My bet is on Water/Poison, Water/Fighting or Poison/Fighting. The kobushi (fist) part pretty much suggests a Fighting type and given the fact that this is a sea cucumber and their guts have some kind of poison irl makes it a possibility. I’m not too sure about water. There are already too much Water types this gen. It would be a nice little surprise.

      Reply
      • i was about to reply to myself saying it could also be water/fighting lol and i agree that we have enough water types already this gen 🙂

        Reply
          • We have Popplio and its 2 evos, Wimpod with its evo (I think it has one), Bruxish, Yowashi (the new fish) sor far. There will be more I think because of the big amounts of water in Alola. They should reveal an Alola native Ice type, also some Dark types as well. We have enough Water types to look at right now.

          • I want a cool fire type, because Litten isn’t cool anymore.

yes i know about Saladit.. but just a fire type

          • Oh, yeah. I forgot that. We don’t have Fire types except for Litten. I’d also like to see a Dragon/Fighting, Electric/Fighting or an Electric/Fire type.

          • Idk what’s with me today. I don’t usually forget Pokémon like this. First Toxicroak, now Salandit. OMG.

          • Like female Salandit having a different evo because of the things written on the official site? That would be epic.

          • The only Gen IV Fire-type available prior to post-game DP was the Chimchar line (Magmortar and Heatran were postgame… as was Rotom, which could only be Electric/Ghost at this point anyway).
My point: there’s nothing stopping them from only introducing one evolutionary line for a type (though this would suck).

          • We are also guaranteed another water type if the leaks do end up being true about the dolphin, because I am not sure how it can not be a water type.

      • But, call me a noob or something, IDK much about seacucumbers, but don’t they just live in the sea? Or at least in water…?

Then it will be water/ ?? for sure right

        Reply
        • They live in salt water and basically just look like white turds. They’re long like a cucumber. Here’s the best part; They have two openings. You may think one is the mouth and one is the behind, but no. Food goes in one hole, doesn’t matter which, food gets digested, food goes out opposite hole.

          Reply
    • The fake leaker used other previous leaks to make his fake pokedex leak. Some previous leaks might still be true. The cucumber leak was previously together with a capybara and a gorilla, so those might be true.

      Reply
      • or he may have copied the info from the Chinese leaker.

Although if it is proven true (which of course by proof by many, it’s fake) the gorilla could be linked with the rugby monkey, and that Copybara could be linked with those supposed leaked sketches staring it with the supposed Dolphin Pokemon and Rowlet’s mid evolution.

We won’t know until they are fully revealed to us.

  151. Well the Sea Cucumber…. I love how it’s organs come out to punch, it’s gross and scientifically accurate. I’m not too happy about the design though. It looks like a Sea slug to me.

  152. So the riddler leaker (cant find a link but it was mentioned) that has been hinting at everything from mimikyu to the legendaries and the sandcastle, also posted pictures of rock, paper, scissors merged with bloody organs. If this “rock” shaped sea cucumber that also holds out a fist (the sign for rock in the rps game) is the “rock” part of the trio, could we be expecting paper and scissors? Possibly a trio of sea cucumbers, or a trio of sea creatures, or the next two evolutions of this beast?

  153. Fisting your opponents……come on now…….lol Anyway I really like its design. If it turns out to be a water type I may add it to my team. I guess we’ll find out on Friday tho lol

  154. So the “leaker” combined a bunch of previous leaks and made up his own fake pokemon to make a pokedex.

There was a leak previously that mentioned a sea cucumber, a normal/water (or vice versa) “Copybara” the leaker described as a weird beaver-like thing (the leaker probably hadn’t seen a capybara before), and a fighting and ground gorilla. This sea cucumber proves THAT leak was probably true, and the recent pokedex “leaker” used it to sort of substantiate their fake leak.

    Reply
    • Though Copybara and Georella were from a leaker that was proven to be fake, along with the starter’s final evolution’s names. If Copybara was true, than it’ll probably look similar to that leak image with the possible Dolphin Pokemon and the mid evolution of Rowlet. But how can you possibly tell, when those pictures were said to have been proven fake.

Thick beefy build, with red pads of armory skin throughout its arms and legs that are a tan and brownish grey coloration, big hands and feet, it’s head has the same leathery skin armor but in the shape of a rugby helm, bright angry eyes with a thick angry brow, a round flat nose and a menacing teeth barring expression (exactly like Yungoos’ teeth) and it always clutches a ovoid stone that it protects with its life
“using their brute strength they tackle opponents with enough force to derail a train” “They covet the heavy stones they train with and if anyone were to take it from them will be painfully tackled”

  157. So I crunched the numbers and the best orcorio (based on typing alone) will be pom pom style as Electric/Flying takes away one weakness giving it a great low number of 2 weaknesses (the other forms have a lot more), and none of the other forms have significantly more resistances then it or any particular useful ones.

  158. I can’t keep up with the leaks but is this one related with the riddle leak with hands and organs? Was there any other leak saying there will be a sea cucumber?

    Reply
    • I’m not completely sure, but I think there were two Chinese leakers.
The first one who revealed the starters final evolved forms and mentioned no gyms, Alolan Pokémon, as well as a bunch of new Pokémon including a dolphin, sea cucumber, a snowman, a rugby monkey and some other things.

The other leaker is known as “the riddler” because he’s given actual leaks in riddle form that have proven to be real. Examples of his riddles are a picture with Litleo and Zubat and saying their gonna be real important to this generation (Solgaleo and Lunala). He posted somewhere “beware of leaks” and later on Kiteruguma’s English name was revealed to be Bewear. Another example would be another picture riddle that showed a game of rock, paper, scissors and, apparently, bloody organs. Then lo and behold, we get a sea slug/sea cucumber combo of a Pokémon (Namakobushi) that can spit out its organs in order to punch things. Some people thought rock, paper, scissors meant it might be a trio or Namakobushi’s evolved forms, but I think rock, paper, scissors was solely meant to represent a fist because that’s what you make when you play rock.

Personally I find Heights and the darkness really peacefully (which is wierd considering how so many people are afraid of those things)

          • I dont necessarily think its a fear for most people more of an anxiety, I myself and “afraid” of heights, but not really afraid, more so it stresses me out and gives me anxiety, and I do get anxious looking up at something really tall sometimes

          • Sometimes I do but like if im in a tall Building I have to stay away from the Windows. Also I hate being in the ocean just the fear of something pulling you down scares me to bone.

  159. Hmm. This thing is . . . interesting, at least. I don’t really like it, but I want to see its insides first (as weird as that sounds). I assume Water Fighting here, as I’m sure most of you did. What I can tell you is that I’m not using this anytime soon.

  167. Hey guys, now that we’ve seen that Gamefreak likes to hide some references to future pokemon in their designs (The kid from the E3 gameplay with a Vikavolt-looking shirt; Npcs refering to Tapu Koko in the same gameplay, the helmet in the “tropical” artwork looking like the new sea cucumber/bunny), do you think there are still hidden details we might have missed?
In the “tropical” artwork, the police officer riding Mudsdale also wears a helmet, can you recognise what pokémon it’s based off? Also, there is some sort of shooting star in the top left corner that at first looked like a Minior core, but upon closer inspection actually looks more like a Staryu.. What do you think?

  170. Looks like the riddler leaker struck again! He posted a picture of organs, predicting namakobushi as it throw up them to punch things, he also posted a picture of Rock Paper Scissors, perhaps Namakobushi’s evolution will branch and have a Rock Paper Scissors theme? Like it’s fist will turn into a rock, paper or a scissor. Seems likely as this leaker hasn’t been wrong yet.

  171. After going back and looking at older footage of Sun/Moon. I just found that Alola might actual have a regular Arcanine. We see an Arcanine in the wild while they showed off Rockruff. We still might get an Alolan Arcanine, but this is a glarring issue. I seriously want to see an Water-Type Arcanine.

  172. LOL The new Sea Cucumber looks kind of like a bunny to me. XD

I mean come o its cot that symbol, that makes it look like a bunny nose/mouth, and then its got the two conveniently placed red spikes that could look like bunny ears, and then its literally got the “fluffy little cotton tail” that bunnies have.

It’s not a sea cucumber, its a sea bunny. LOLOLOL XD

At least thats what I am seeing while looking at it, a cute little “Sea Bunny” <3

  173. Well, I guess that all but confirms the Chinese leaks. I was still a bit skeptical after the sea cucumber, b/c that could have just been coincidence (like how we’re all expecting a dolphin). But they’ve gotten more than that right!
